Fiola Mare is nothing short of great fine dining. It s an upscale seafood restaurant in trendy Georgetown water front that s perfect for celebrating special occasions or a lunch date if you re willing to pay the price. While expensive, Fiola Mare has consistently shown excellent service in its staff. The food is amazing, though you will find some dishes to be better than other. But that takes trying new things.

Brunch was special -- high quality and delicious with unusual choices. Not sure if it's was a weird day when we went but it took 90 minutes to get our entrees. The staff took care of us though: said there was a big party and brought a free appetizer. Cocktails looked good. Would recommend for a special day. Reservations essential.

We normally had lovely experiences at Fiola Mare, but an early dinner last week left me sick during the night, until throwing up, making us wonder about the freshness of the ahi tuna crudo. We tried notifying the restaurant but they did not return our calls.

I went to the highly coveted Fiola Mare, and I have mixed reviews. The food that I enjoyed most were what we got for free, which was a squash soup and lemon ginger ice cream. In the ice cream, the ginger was so subtle, but amazingly good with the lemon. My friend had the lobster ravioli and he said that it was just okay. I had the HAND-CUT TAGLIATELLE, which was very delightful, which a bold flavor. We shared the AHI TUNA CARPACCIO, which came together well, but not the most amazing carpaccio I have had. To finish off, my friend and I had the hazelnut souffle. It was amazing, especially with the dark chocolate drizzle!

Why 3 stars? The service was amazing. Although I did not order wine, the waiter gave me a tasting to something they had open which was also good. The other tastings we got through the meal made the experience well worth it. In the end, we paid about $170 with tax and tip for the both of us. I probably won't come back for a while, as I feel it is more expensive than I want to spend for a regular meal.

This place is pricey, but worth it. The food was exquisite and the service impeccable. The location down by the water was also nice. I would definitely return if we go back to DC. Excellent choice for a special night out.

I had a great time here. The place was packed so my party of 3 found a spot at the back bar. Great bartender mixed up some amazing drinks for us. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and shared. We started with Frutti Di Mare, Sashimi of Itoyori and a selection of cheeses. All 3 were top notch. We moved on to Grand Adriatic Grilled Seafood, which would have been plenty for two people, Bucatini and Smoked Yukon Gold Potato Gnocchi. Again everything was amazing. Now don't get me wrong this place is pricey at $450 for a party of 3 but we were there for a good 3 hours and all had 4 or 5 drinks. I plan to go back again soon. It reminds me of Kinade's in the early 90's.

Great restaurant in Washington

Great restaurant in Washington
The extremely well prepared staff of the excellent cuisine .. and quality Italian wines.
Congratulations to manager Giuseppe for the warm welcome with customers, the professionalism in the description of the dishes and the patience with Italian customers who do not speak English like me ..
Absolutely recommended if you want to eat excellent Italian cuisine revisited in the Washington area ..

I was here for lunch recently. Service was veryyyyyy slow, and it took 2 hours to get appetizers and entrees.
For appetizers, we got the eggplant and burrata - both were excellent.
For entrees, I got the seafood brodetto (seafood stew) and it was decent. Nothing special to be honest. A person I was with got the mussels - again, they were decent at best. Some were too gritty and fishy.
Overall, the experience did not meet up to the hype, especially for the price.

Top 3 best restaurants I've dined at in my life. Top of the line service staff and amazing quality dishes that's unique to this restaurant. My glass was never empty and the staff made superb customized recommendations based on our dietary restrictions. I will come back to this place everytime I visit D.C on business.

This was the most incredible restaurant I have ever experienced. From the atmosphere, to the service, and of course the food!!! . On a visit to Washington DC, my brother, an attorney with Venerable, and my sister-in-law Susan Goldberg, editor of National Geographic, took my mother and I to Fiola Mare. I did not want the experience to end. The food was incredible, the wine list was deep, and the service was impeccable. I will visit again soon and will never come to DC without going to Fiola Mare!!! Thank you so much!!!

Went here last year for my best friend's birthday dinner. It was the best meal I had of 2015 without question. They customized the menu for my friend's birthday, and gave us complimentary dessert and dessert wine. Expect to pay at least ~50 per person, but it's totally worth it.

Quite possibly the best meal and best service in the city! I strongly recommend this restaurant. Our server Carlos was attentive, social, and made it an incredible experience. This is my second time and the quality of food is just out of this world.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area - mine and my husband s go-to when we want to have a nice meal. We went back for the first time since Covid hit last week, and it confirmed my love for the restaurant.

Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Our server, Josh, was very nice.

We sat outside overlooking the Georgetown waterfront on a sunny afternoon. It was gorgeous, and we felt safe. QR code menu, no one near us, reservations spaced apart so they can properly clean.

It met all my expectations, and we have been very cautious about Covid and not really going out.

Still a big fan of Fiola Mare.

It's an incredible place with good food and excellent service, their wine list is impressive. It's a good idea to organize happy hour sunset deals to try the dishes inexpensively. My bday celebration was superb with FM.

The servers were nice, intermittently checking up on us to see if everything was okay. Although, the conundrum occurred in the last stage of our meal: the checkup. We were charged 300 dollars because the dishes were charged independently. My mother corrected the server by explaining we'd ordered the lunch menu. He apologized and changed the bill to 150. Another problem was that our drinks were charged(coffees and iced teas). My mother had specifically asked one of the waiters whether drinks were already included, and he confirmed they were. When she consulted the same server again, he apologized once more and deleted every drink off the bill except my mother's coffee. I definitely don't think they did this on purpose; the restaurant's friggin rich. Still, it kind of degraded my experience at the restaurant. As for the food, it's great, albeit experimental. The extravagant flavors weren't for me, but I can see why so many people enjoy it.

I will not be returning to this establishment. Me and my friends were harassed by the waitress and the manager. They were rude and condescending. I felt like we were being profiled and could no longer handle the uncomfortable environment. Again, will not be returning.

I have been to many up-scale restaurants and paid my fair share of $100 plates, this one left me wanting. The food flavors are wonderful and the view of the Potomac is beautiful. My recommendation is don't come with an appetite or expect to pay fair value for what you purchase. It almost seems criminal to pay $50 for barely 3oz's of fish and no side. The service is also nothing special either--maybe they were understaffed, but orders took much longer than expected.
I would also expect a restaurant with this reputation to have a greater selection of seafood. Swordfish, Monkfish, or Halibut...I know there are other fresh fish out there.
In the end the view and the company we kept made this a worth while dinner, however our money could have been spent a block down the boardwalk with the same view and good food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Georgetown. THE place to enjoy fine Italian dining while rubbing elbows with the upper echelon socialites of Washington DC. They have an impressive wine selection, curated by their very classically trained sommelier. Their attention to detail is duly noted every single visit and I love to indulge in dessert after our meals.

You can't beat the combination of Maria's Menu at lunch time - that would be 3 courses of a Mediterranean healthy diet for $26 - and the free view of the Potomac River. Who cares if Fabio Trabocchi is in Venice taking care of his new restaurant! This is Washington at its best!

Great food, great service, nice outdoor seating perfect for social distancing. I ordered the wild rockfish, spinach, and potatoes. The fish was cooked perfectly and the side dishes were delicious as well. I definitely recommend and will return.

Beautiful atmosphere, experienced waitstaff, and most importantly delicious food! The seafood (scallops and prawns) tasted fresh and delicate. The price was high but not outrageous, the quality and taste were worth the price.

Excellent service and fine dining. The atmosphere is relaxing and inside is beautiful. The seats are unique and very comfortable; where we sat was perfect for 4 people. My husband's nephew reserved a table for us as a wedding gift, and we were given dessert and a card that will make for fond memories. We got the seafood tower and the sea robin, which was delicious. The Pop! Cider was a delicious non alcoholic choice for me. I would absolutely recommend this place for a special occasion for couples or larger groups.

How do they not have a Michelin star yet?! Consistently great service, wine, food, and atmosphere. Our go-to place for fresh seafood in DC. Try ordering grilled options, such as the calamari. Their pasta is great, as is their seasonal greens salad. Everything is plated and presented well, and yet they still find a way to add the yummy!

The pasta served was raw inside. I asked for replace but they said they always cook it al dente. I insisted it was undercooked. They eventually replaced it but never apologize. They were very arrogant and acted like I should be scared by their word "al dente" because I am Asian. I had really good pastas in nice restaurants and I know how to cook pasta, but never had this raw ones. Very disappointed and felt they may be racist.

Really excellent food. I the sea scallops and they were divine. The others in my party were also pleased with their dinner. We got there a little early, but they were accommodating to us not knowing the traffic. Also, I was celebrating an event. We got some ceviche from the chef and some desserts from the chef, probably linked to my celebration. The owners also had a card ready at the table with a congratulations, so that was an extra nice touch.
Could see this as a good place for a serious date, as the prices reflected the quality (high quality) for some things.
Overall, go here if you are so lucky, maybe more after the weather turns nice as they are right on the Potomac River.
