We had a great dining experience here on a Saturday night. I thought the chili dumplings, the stir fried noodles, the hot and sour soup, and the Fay Lo beef were excellent. The firecracker shrimp and the calamari were a little over breaded, actually they tasted more like tempura-battered, which was a little unusual. However the ingredients were fresh and well-executed.

We had a very friendly waiter. She checked on us off and it made sure Waters were full. She also was very patient with us and gave great suggestions.

The vibe here is somewhat club-like. There's loud music and limited lighting.

Even if you're not into that kind of vibe, the food I think is worth it if you eat it there.

Great gluten free options! Probably my favorite Chinese food spot in Richmond.

This place is 10 stars. Never have had a bad experience here and my husband and I visit regularly. The prices are reasonable and portions are huge. If you want great Chinese food and great drinks, you have to eat a Fat Dragon. I recommend the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer

My wife and I went here for dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was very good with large enough portion sizes to take some home. The service was also quick and very attentive. We will be going back!

Good Chinese food by Richmonds standards. I have yet to find a really amazing place but so far this one takes the cake. They also have a pretty solid beer menu given that they're located in Scott's addition and have access to all the excellent breweries.

Get the Tangerine Chicken. Matt Damon was there once.

Brew pub with Chinese inspired fares. Enjoyed the Sichuan Pepper wings. Perfect place to eat at a reasonable price with big portions while enjoying great beers with fantastic service. Special thanks to Justin.

After reading other reviews I thought the food here would be spectacular. It was good but nothing out of this world. Also I envisioned it being much bigger based on the pictures I had seen but I found the restaurant to be very small with limited seating (not sure about the private rooms). I'll probably go again and try some of the menu favorites but outside of that I had an average experience.

Yummy for my tummy. Especially good deal for lunch. Try a lunch box...will not disappoint. Perhaps the best won ton soup ever.

It is a lively place combining a large list of beers with fusion dishes based on Chinese flavors with hot spices. This is a fun place with a young friendly crowd, friendly service and loud contemporary, fast paced music. If you are looking for a fun and different kind of place you will probably love this place. However, if you are looking for traditional Chinese dishes, you will not find them here. The food is good and interesting, it is just not what a person is looking for when she/he is craving a Chinese dish.

It can be pricy if you decide to drink an interesting beer from a microbrewery versus a dull light Regular American beer. Their microbrewery beer is priced approximately $2 to $3 dollars more than in other places while regular light beer is priced competitively.

I Recomend the place as a fun bar with good food and do not recommend it as a Chinese restaurant.

It is hard to find high quality Chinese food in Richmond. There are many Fast food Chinese places but the quality and flavor is well behind other cities.
I will continue my search for a place with good Chinese cuisine.

I m very disappointed in all the reviews I read. I got the tofu lunch box and 90 % of the tofu was so over cooked it was very similar to what I imagine chewing on a balloon would be.. the egg roll that was thrown in, was not even up to frozen quality. The one star is for the soup. I don t like kimchi, so I didn t try it.

Slightly different take on chinese food. The wonton soup was delicious and calamari was very tender. Great spot for late night dinner and drink .

Food was delicious. Prawns were bomb. Ramen bowl had many different components. Ginger Salad was a good side. Will definitely be going back again.

Fat Dragon! Amazing atmosphere in RVA! I was pleasantly surprised today when I walked in! I loved the vibe! Staff was very friendly and courteous! Food was exceptional and the value/price was incredible! I had the green tea with pomegranate, steamed dumplings, stir fried string beans, chicken wings plan and a bowl with beef, chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, bok choy with chicken broth and everything came to under $30! Drink specials and appetizers are discounted during happy hour! Excellent choice for dinner! I can assure if you go there you will not be disappointed

A hip atmosphere with solid dishes and a extensive craft beer menu. Generous portions make Fat Dragon very reasonable to have a large dinner with many shared plates.

This is probably the best Chinese food that I ever had. (I am a very picky eater). The first time me and my boyfriend visit here was April 6,2019 and the second time was August 6,2019. Both times I can honestly say we had the best experience. The service was very friendly both
Times always came back to check up on us making sure we were good even knowing how busy they were. Never had to wait a Long time. The first time we went we were seated immediately second time I had reservations for my boyfriend birthday both times everything work out so perfect. So now let me tell you about the amazing dishes For Appetizers we always order the crispy chicken egg rolls those are definitely our favorite so good. I don't have a picture of my food but I got the beef,shrimp and broccoli with brown rice (can you say amazing) well season and delicious they always give you so much food you can bring the rest home definitely recommend. My boyfriend order the rack of ribs. I think he fell in love with them at first sight (lol) they definitely gave him his money worth they were so good with a Asian barbecue sauce highly recommend.

The good, good atmosphere, decent beer selection for the food genre. The bad, just ok service, rather aloof waitress, but attentive manager. The main reason I am giving negative review is this. I ordered bourbon chicken, not traditionally a spicy one. It was super spicy and I can usually take the heat. Manager got chef to make me a less spicy one and said " yeah, it depends on the mood the chef is in, sometimes he will make it spicy, sometimes he wont" ok...what? I would could back to a restaurant I enjoyed a dish at for what reason...consistency. This sounded like complete crap to me, so I asked my neighbor who happens to be a French chef to make sure I wasn't missing the latest Richmond trend and he laughed and agreed with me. I just cant get behind this mentality for a restaurant. get less lazy chefs and your golden, there is potential here.

We have been to Fat Dragon a bunch of times and it never disapoints. The fried mushrooms are soooooo good and spicy! We had the Fei Lon Beef (my favorite), Beef basil, and Mui Mui Chicken. All of it was delicious. I brought my parents and my aunt. They don t live in Richmond and they were very pleased. #fatdragonrva #richmondhomesales

meh. This place used to be awesome. On my recent visit, food was way too sweet. The sauce was thick, syrupy, and ruined the meal. The vegetables were not cut well so they were gigantic and difficult to eat. Service was friendly but very busy so not very attentive.

Fat Dragon is a restaurant I thought I wouldn't like but it's really grown on me. I haven't tried much of the menu but their appetizers are great and I LOVE their kimchi fried rice. Their happy hour is fairly typical and their bar section is tight, but it's a fun place to grab some food and drinks!

In general you can't go wrong with any restaurant owned by their parent company, always impressed with the work they do and the people they hire.

Those beer battered mushrooms and canton shrimp spring rolls ... Awesome! My peach paloma was ehh! But everything was wonderful!

Food is perfect every time!! Highly recommended the Crispy Chicken Rolls, Chilli Dumplings, Ancient Secret BBQ Pork Fried Rice Bowl and the Asian Rib Rack. Service is always amazing, but Kat is possibly the best server in all of RVA!!! Seriously one Richmonds top restaurants!

This is a great restaurant. While not authentic Chinese food, it is good. The service was excellent and the food came out very fast. On weekends, they don t accept reservations for small parties (less than 5). Additionally, they have a good drinks menu as well.

Very high class Chinese... Would recommend this over EVERY Chinese DINE IN place in RICHMOND!! Everything was delicious and very clean place. Went to the bathroom and could smell the bleach and cleaning products otw. Food was EXCELLENT!! Go here if you want quality traditional Chinese..

Sorry, friends, the food here is not good. I tried on two occasions for dinner and was disappointed both times. It's a great location, the facility is nice and the service good, but much more suited for cocktails than for dinner.

One of the best happy hours in RVA. Amazing draft beer selection, couple of draft wines and great cocktail drink. We always sitting at the bar because the bartenders are always so friendly.

We got the Szechuan chicken wings and firecracker shrimp for starters. These are simply amazing. The dry rub on the wings has a nice level of heat. The shrimp are perfectly cooked with an amazing dip. And, to finish off dinner (with another HH app), the chili dumplings are great. Again, nice level of spice but not too much.

My only advice is to get there early on the weekend or be OK with a 30 minute wait. However, it's worth the wait.

Please do not go here. Ill have to wait longer for my food and beer.

All of their appetizers are fantastic. They also have the best take out containers around. I use them for my regular Tupperware. Great beer selection too.

First visit, I got the Chef Zhao's Chicken (I think that was the name), girlfriend got Numb Numb Pepper Steak. Both were good but hers was awesome!

Second visit, we both got the Pepper Steak, it was soooo good! We talked very little that night because we were just enjoying the heck out of it! You almost dont want to chew and swallow it too fast because the steak and the veggies are just so juicy with flavor, you just want to savor it as long as you can!

Third visit, she got it again and I got something else just to try other things. It was good but I really missed that pepper steak! Its going to be hard to get something other than the Pepper Steak on our 4th visit. Its hands down the best thing they have, I just know it!

Other than all the food seeming to be awesome, the place is a little loud most of the time but its just that kind of atmosphere. Ill definitely be going again!
