This place is over priced and the workers are incompetent.
Backstory...
May 2017: I came in to exchange some bike shorts for a different size. They didn't have it in stock so they told me they would order it and it would be in within 2 weeks.
4 weeks go by and my order still hasn't arrived.
June: I ask where my order is. Their response was that they "have no idea when or if vendors will be sending products, but their best prediction would be within the next "couple weeks."
A couple weeks go by and it is now August.
I ask again where my shorts are and they say that they have just been ordered and that they will be in by the end of the month.
September: Still no shorts. So I email the manager and ask for a refund. She gives me a refund (store credit).
I then made the mistake of ordering a birthday present (a hat) for my father online. I place the order using my store credit and receive a confirmation that shipping will take 2-3 weeks.
1 week passes and I receive an email from the store saying my gift card had insufficient funds so they were going to cancel my orders (mind you this is after they already confirmed).
I call the store and they say that it was a system error and that the hat should be in within 2 weeks.
3 weeks pass and its now the first week of October. My dads birthday is 3 days away and neither of my orders have yet to come in.

I go to the store to ask about the status on the hat. They tell me that it hasn't been ordered yet and that they don't buy from that vendor anymore, so the hat won't ever come in.

I ask for a full CASH refund because 2 out of 2 of my orders were not fulfilled and it took 4 months for their dumb**ses to tell me my order couldn't be fulfilled.

The manager said "Sorry, we don't do cash refunds. Here is a cool looking hat that you might want to buy instead of the hat you ordered."

I honestly was just so amazed by the utterly horrible service and I now realize how overpriced every single item is.

P.S. You can buy the bike shorts on Amazon for cheaper.

An exploitative, and expensive organization that only continues to exist because they are located on a college campus. In any other context, their abusive company practices would turn away all their customers. But since their customer base turns over every 4 years, they don't have to treat them with any respect.

Their price match is pure false advertising. The same books on amazon are half the price, but they only price match amazon (not third party sellers on amazon, or even "Amazon Warehouse"), don't let you return books even a day after you got it, and give you pennies if you try to sell back a book at the end of the year.

The UMD bookstore should feature school-subsidized books to help its students get an education. Instead, they use it a vector to siphon even more money off its unsuspecting students.

Very poorly run, i was sent in multiple circles by people who seem like they don't know what they're doing. Considering we're working with very expensive books, you'd think the service would be effective and clear in order to avoid any accidents. Unfortunately, this book never features neither.

Some student's believe the book center is only for textbooks and spirit gear, but the book store shockingly has a great selection of reading material to fill your spare time at very reasonable prices! Even if you don't read you can get a gold trimmed classic for your coffee table to impress one of those college girls or guys. Be worldly, be prepared, stop by the Book store!

At the entrance of Stample student union, we present you....the Kertle! (Whaaaaat??!). Well, Kermit the frog plus turtle I guess ...this artist is a genius! Jim Hensen, the creator of Kermit the frog, actually graduated from UMD and the mascot of UMD is the testudo(turtle). Can't stop laughing!

This place is calm during the actual school yesr but in the beginning and the end of the year when books are being purchased it's sheer pandmonium. The prices are extremely high as well. I got better deals on amazon.

Prohibitively expensive for basic supplies, and took nearly a month to stock nessecary textbooks for not one but two of my classes. Convenience aside I do not think this location is managed well, and I was not the only one with textbook issues this semester- with books having been ordered many weeks in advance. Put me behind on classwork and meant I had to source materials elsewhere while being unable to cancel the original orders until they were fulfilled.

The books are way overpriced! I bought a lose leaf book(with shrink wrap) in a hurry for 168$ where you can find a hardcover(new) of the same book on amazon for 175$. And when I wanted to return it one day later without even damaging the shrink wrap, they said it s their policy not to accept returns after the first week of the semester(unless you drop the course). I bought this book during the second week which is technically you cannot return the book after the second they punch it on the register. They don t even tell you this when you pay for the book(it s on the back of the receipt which is given AFTER YOU PAY!). A guy and a girl at the information/managing desk told me that I can sell it back to them at a lesser buying back price AFTER THE SEMESTER ENDS(to reduce their cost maybe?) where the shop advertised we are buying back books . So disappointed!!!

The absolute best UMD apparel but like everyone says, the prices are horrendous. It s a state university but they charge like everyone that goes there comes from a Harvard family background of 200k+ family household income. I grabbed a UMD polo tee and a sticker. I paid around 120$. The sticker was 20$ and the shirt 100$...

Joking.... but the shirt was like 115$ and I said YOLO but broke for life and bought it anyways. My favorite shirt, only wear it to special occasions and never to go partying in.

Received a $50 charge that wasn t mine from the university bookstore. I called multiple times and left multiple messages over the course of the week. No response whatsoever. I wanted to speak with a store representative to deal with the charge internally, but I suppose I now have to report it as fraud. Thanks for nothing.

Books are overpriced, but they price match with Amazon. If you can find the right book, you can get the book cheeper.

Great customer service though, they put up with a lot of obvious questions.
