No surround sound in theatre 8. When addressed with staff, the front sound was simply cranked up - leaving us to experience the powerful songs of The Lion King in poor quality, with the bass missing and the chorus much too high.
After addressing this issue twice with staff during the film, and being told the manager was not on the floor, I returned to my theater after letting the staff know that the entire theatre deserved a refund for the poor quality of sound and lackluster experience. This is common practice for other theater chains, like AMC.
Professional managers greet their guests at the door upon exiting when an issue occurs. This did not happen at Regal Fairfax Towne Center. I only received replacement tickets for my party after a frustrating discussion with the manager, who implied that my experience was not ruined because I sat through it.
Missing a solid 10 minutes to bring the issue to your attention, when you should be doing theatre checks regularly? A problem. Sitting through the artists work diminished by poor quality? A problem. When the soundtrack sounds better in my car than their theater? Big problem.
Make your voice heard if your experience is lackluster. It s the only way theaters will rise to the occasion.
(Note: I spent 4 years as a projectionist and know what to expect, I am not just someone who demands free stuff).
