I worked with EM from 2012-2014 before getting back into school full-time to work on a music degree, train my voice, get more dance training, and stage experience. Now that I have returned to getting more work in the real world, I felt the impulse to get back on their roster, and put that SAG card to work.

After re-registering today and returning home, I decided to go through my old emails to investigate my experience with them from before.

I discovered that they found me steady work and great opportunities! Most of the stories I tell to my friends back home in Texas about my experience on sets are from the great jobs they found for me. All they ask is professionalism, responsibility, respect and communication. In return, I was rewarded with multiple gigs every month, two jobs where I was upgraded to a principal contract (with residuals), and an awesome stand-in job for the entire season of a show.

Thanks EM!
I am excited to return and look forward to the opportunities that await.

If you are ready to work and be professional etc...as I said, you would be wise to apply for their roster.

See you on set!

Nightmare Registration Process!!!! Brutalized by Extras Management staff consisting of Malerie, Jessica and kevin simply for challenging their demand to present my social security card for registration. I am so sorry for challenging their authority by simply questioning the lawfulness of their demand for me to present my social security card just to complete their registration process, especially when they are not paying me but I am paying them for their services. For all who do not know you are not required to present or give your social security number and to demand one's social security for identification and employment purposes is not lawful unless it is a governmental agency and that depends on whether it is a federal or state agency, their are different requirements for both all due to mass identity theft. I am only trying to protect my social security from unnecessarily being used and I am not giving legal advice, please do your own due diligence. I went into Extras Management smiling but I left 2 hours later in dismay. What a waste of time! And what is even worse I emailed the owner Kevin of the company and he never even responded or returned my calls, photos or application with my social security number on it. Not Ok and very unprofessional.

They can be good in rare circumstances, but they desperately need to upgrade their systems. Extras Management often feels like a step away from being outright con artists. They need to have a way for people to update their availability online and not call in directly. There are far too many problems that result from this. From them booking on days where you were not available to a general lack of booking.

You cannot depend on them for any kind of consistent work, so you when have to look elsewhere and they don't update, problems compound upon each other. I have had good jobs, but they really need to make some improvements to the almost archaic system they have in place.

They can be horribly unprofessional on any given day and charge a lot for their services. Go with Face2Face if you can or try someone better if you can find them.

This is MAFIA and swindlers ! They are charging 84 dollars and give 1-2 jobs a month ! so I am working for free ! Central casting is free and they give same jobs. What the point ? Why I have to pay 84 dollars ! to expensive. They are cheat people. purely fraudulent scheme that is designed for fools

I moved here a couple months ago I guess. Was hesitant about singing a contract where I payed upfront for work. However, for the most part it has been an easy experience. I have worked more than I can handle unless I book out extra days for other things I do. The staff have been really cool so far. There has only been a few times I have received a lack or miss information and was unable to get a hold of anyone.. I understand that ultimately I could pay for that instead of them, but I also signed the contract knowing that. I am glad I went with them and its worth a shot for anyone considering joining, I worked every single day but weekends, I believe, last month.

Been with this company for 5 years... I ll give u my honest opinion. In the beginning they will book you regularly/consistently which is wonderful to not have to bustle thru the submission lines. However, they slowly and deliberately book u the minimum to get a FULL ($85) month pay. If you have and questions to be inform on company policy, they lose all patience and you will get rude response. They will refer you to email the management/owner because he never takes a phone call. Talent have no seniority or loyalty program whatsoever longevity means zero. Furthermore EM has a bad relationship with central casting that they denied for too long. It s obvious now... I stop getting CC booking thru EM since Last year (2018). CC contact me directly to book me and they refused to use EM.

Question:
If you can not find me work and I ve been there for 5+ years, then why is Kevin DAILY taking new clients.

Glad I gave my review at the end of this 5 yrs run. Otherwise it ll seem biased.

Best Wishes

I worked as an 'extra,' 'background performer,' and 'stand-in' back in 2004 and 2005. They submitted me to varying casting directors throughout California and eventually I started working on large scale movie sets. I met so many cool people and after being photo picked for a Disney movie, I got my SAG card. I left Hollywood after 2005 and am coming back now to work in the summers. I'm sure it will probably take a month before I'm working consistently again but I'm looking forward to it. I miss Cynthia the receptionist when I originally signed up in 2004. The front staff is still cool though. If you want to work quality jobs while learning about movie making and possibly landing an agent or acting gig this is about the safest and smartest place to start.

These people know what they're doing. You'll always hear negative comments from people on set who had a bad experience. Usually that is because someone didn't show up or call in. There's serious here. They book you. However, since of costumes and Rich king and the other casting companies they know what they're doing know your look and don't blame the Booker.

Been with Extras for over 5 years. Been booked on many shows ,movies, and commercials, as well as music videos. Picked up 7 SAG/Aftra vouchers . The experience gained allowed me to get featured on four episodes on Comedy Central @ $666 per day for 7 days and have done a couple of pilots for potential shows. Also worked as coordinating Producer for a season for another T V show. Never could have done it without Extras and the experience gained on all the background gigs. Thanks to all the dedicated professionals at Extras.

If you are Union, expect for this service to do absolutely next to nothing for you except collect a paycheck. I do not feel that they are proactive on any level whatsoever for their Union talent. In fact, they somehow even manage to make me feel like a number. And what's worse, they charge me for it.
I echo the statement that this service charges the most to do the least amount of work.

This has been my calling service for the last three years and although it was slow in the first year, once I showed my work ethic, by fulfilling commitments I had made, on time and professional. The casting directors got to know me and hire me consistently. I still submit on LA casting and Central Casting as one cannot put all eggs in one basket....

I booked with EXTRA! on Thursday of last week and have already been booked for 4 gigs since then. Depending upon your look, advertise yourself with versatility. Go in with a professional outfit, a swimsuit, casual, shaved and unshaved - and keep your look presentable because ultimately that's what it's all about when it comes to getting work!

Most expensive calling service that does the least amount of work. They fiend on the people outside central casting and it's the only reason they stay in business. Employees are rude and the company will threaten you with blacklisting for any misstep. Do your research, there are plenty of calling services out there and extras is one of the worst.

When you're not Union this company is phenomenal. I stay busy six or seven days a week during busy filming seasons. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wishes to pursue an entertainment career in background acting.

You guys were awesome to me!
- thank you!

This review is long overdue. They're great for non-union but a rip off for Union. Only expect to get 1 job a week if even that. All the calling services are super shady when it comes to Union work. There were some Union people with Extras that worked every day, I later found out that those people were friends of casting and that's why they were getting all the union work.

I ended up moving to New York and stayed away from extra work cause I thought there was no way I would make enough money to survive doing it. When I finally did give it a try, to my surprise I was booking work literally EVERY DAY on my own just through casting networks. And that's as union. It turns out that even though New York doesn't have as much work as L.A., people still work more cause there's NO calling services. Which means that everyone gets a fair chance of getting work, instead of just the friends of casting. Not only was I getting lots of extra work, but I was also getting a lot of stand-in work too. When I was in L.A., I never got any stand in work, not even saw a single post for stand in work. Which is pretty crazy when you consider the large amount of work that's filmed there. And it's because places like Extras are only giving them to a select few.

Well now with Covid there's a lot of New York shows that are going to Canada or choosing to shoot in L.A. because there's more space. And since I'm from L.A. I've been dying to come back home. I heard a while back that L.A. was suppose to be getting rid of calling services cause everyone knows how cliquey they are. So I was hoping they were gone and everyone was now being given a fair chance to get work. I'm sad to see they're still here.

Remember, this is Covid n That's not the real spelling of my surname. Robin Hoodloom on IG. I'm new with them,& if I got 2 gigs with them a month,I guess, that's a win.I did Extra Work from 95-98,dropped out to Build Solar Power Plants, now I've been back since 2017 n will get an Agent soon.as SAG,we don't expect much, yet hope to be somebody's favorite with whatever Extras casting Agency. They are my Experiment in either Throwing away my funds,or giving them Rave reviews soon.Never expect much as a SAG extra during Covid.Just have the Attitude of Gratitude if Someone throws ya a Casting Kibble for a Day.I made $2.5k during Dec. As an extra,by my own merit,n hope to prove myself on set,cus this is a small industry..u got one shot,to prove, yer Reliable & a Pro,on Set..

Takes COMPLETE advantage of people....... DO NOT DO NOT DO NOTTTTT work with these people!!!! SAVE YOUR STRESS AND TIME, unless you plan to work and have it be WORK DONE FOR FREE, where they treat you so beyond words like garbage, and experience your checks go missing and no one helps you to get the money owed to you for a day worked, then DO NOT work with this beyond awful company.

I literally can not explain in words how unhelpful they are and just downright rude. Will not surprised if they are shut down or are shut-down for misconduct of labor laws. Can not believe I worked with these people and still have checks missing from well over 6 months ago.

WORST WORK EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

They are the best around. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and I find their services indispensable. They are well worth the monthly fee. Say you were referred by Jorge Naranjo.
