The Center is definitely worth seeing many times. Many interesting experiments. It's a very interesting part of the Baz Area. The center also has a small snack bar. I recommend visiting.

This place is awesome.. only drawback is the price of admission, but it is San Francisco, so I get why it's so damn expensive. Pay for parking across the street. Good place to take the kids and really check out some things that we never think about on a daily basis. How coils work, human interaction, lighting angles, it's all here and a whole lot more.. if you are a low income family, need food stamps or some other kind of aid, see if you qualify for free admission and take advantage of it when you want to take the family somewhere interesting for free.. the brownies are DAMN GOOD.. seriously.. try one.. or 7.. whatever. Location is beautiful, right on the pier with great views of the bay. The people that work/volunteer there are proactive and you can learn a lot if you spend a few hours here. Find the Earthquake s of California light up display in the upstairs glass room. Hope y'all enjoy it!

This place is a lot of fun to go to when you have an opportunity. Make sure you block off at least half the day. There are plenty of hands-on experiments that you can play with. It is a great place to bring kids. Parking can be a challenge there. I would suggest parking somewhere else and walking to the museum.

A visit to do with the children. A large complex on the old harbor docks with machinery and experiments to know and try to understand the various phenomena of the Earth: aerodynamic, gravitational, physical but also those seemingly 'simpler as sound, visual, tactile and movement. For all there are machines and machines to experiment. Charming. A fun journey that becomes a lesson. Also for adults.

This sensational, hands-on science centre invites visitors of all ages to ask questions and question answers . It s a brilliant ambition and the exhibits are perfectly designed for this goal. The exhibits appeal to all ages and they allow visitors to explore all sorts of scientific and engineering principles whilst being immense fun. The only downside is the price. It costs around $80 for a family of 3. With the big bucks of Silicon Valley just a few miles up the road, it should be possible to bring this sort of inspiring fun to a wider audience by making it cheaper or even free.

I have never ever been to such an extensive and fun Science Museum, it makes any other seem paltry. This is The Disneyland of Science. We had so much fun two 48 year olds and our 20 year old twin boys! The place is huge! Do not worry if the line is huge this place can accommodate thousands without causing an issue.

Pretty boring if you have a degree in the life sciences, then you may have already seen most of the exhibits in the center during your studies. It was frustrating how they would demonstrate interesting phenomena, but they wouldn t give any practical applications for that knowledge. It seems more appropriate for young kids that just want to be wow d without any explanation.

The Exploratorium recently opened its new location along the Embarcadero. As part of a conference, I was able walk through the museum with their designers as they highlighted all the different details put into the new space. The museum is open, modern, but still holding the same spirit as their original location. There are a few free exhibits outside, including the Fog Bridge. Every half hour the bridge is clouded by fog and laughter coming from the kids running through. Their restaurant, open to the public, serves freshly prepared sushi, roast chicken on the spit, and pizza. It s unlike any museum cafe, with floor to ceiling windows opening up to a beautiful view of Treasure Island and the Bay. There is an After Dark event for 18+ every first Thursday of the month. Tickets are $15, instead of the regular $25. Bonus: not having to share the exhibits with kids, just big ones. Tip: San Francisco residents get $5 off general admittance.

There s always something new at the Exploratorium and walking down Embarcadero it s a family favourite! We got the annual dual membership for the after dark Thursday evening event and I think it s worthy because you end up going few times a year anyway!

There are so many amazing hands-on activities to engage children with. The cow eye dissection was awesome! Each area seemed to have a theme: vision, hearing, sense of touch, illusion, and more! I read the very well written instructions for each activity and the children grasped a better understanding of what they were doing. Great for all ages! Even adults because I learned so much and was inspired as well.

What a fun place to go with adults or with kids. They have thursday night specials where its adults only. They have music, drinks and the same fun exhibits! Very cool to partake, I highly recommend it! Its a nice change of pace for the typical SF groupies!

I grew up going to the original exploritorium. I was back in SF with my almost 2 year old son and decided to come here. I was worried he'd be too young, but I'm glad we came here. This new spot is amazing. I think we only enjoyed about 25% of what this place has to offer. My son had a blast running around and trying out new things. I can't wait to take him when he's a little bit older.

As they say, if you're a curious person, this place is for you. It was founded by Frank Oppenheimer who was a physicist and Brother to Robert Oppenheimer. Yeah, that Robert Oppenheimer, another physicst and the father of the atomic bomb. This place is one of the first hands on museums around, and has been copied over and over again by others. It's a place to truly discover how the world really works through science, and man is it fun too. Think Myth Busters but in a safe controlled environment.

Went twice recently - once with my 30-something friends for Thursday adult night and again with Mom, wife, 6 year old niece and in-laws. Had a blast on each visit. Amazing that all age groups can find entertainment and wonder here. Honestly recommend it, wear comfy walking shoes and get a snack at the attached restaurant/cafe and watch the water.

Went to the "after dark" event which is on every Thursday and had a great time. Lots of hands-on things to do and try out and since it's an 18+ event, everything is catered towards adults instead of children as it is usually the case with most science museums.

This is my favorite place as I can learn about the laws! Laws of universe! And inspirations that I can get and use in my life! I spend a lot of time to relate the experiments to my personal life.

Very cool place to experience it you like science--which I do. There were a gob of kids there which the place is geared towards. Wonderfully hands on and informative. Plan to spend 3 hours here. You can learn a great deal here if you read and think about what you are doing during the modules and stations.

Nice

Great place to learn new things and a great place overall to just explore. It is good fun for both children and adults. There are lockers to store your stuff andultiple restaurants. A great place for tourists as well. The only downside would be the price but in my opinion, it is quite worth it.

I always thought, "the Exploratorium sounds cool, but it's just another science museum, probably focused on kids." This is not just another science museum -- it's a really unique and interesting experience, and I'd highly recommend it. I only regret not showing up as soon as they opened: it's a big place and I couldn't get through it all.

It had been a little while since I last went to the old location but taking my niece and nephew to the new spot on Pier 15 this summer was an absolute blast. We bought tickets online ahead of time for entrance right when they opened. We went midweek so I'm sure that helped but we had a really good amount of time before it got crowded at all. You know you have a good museum when five adults will accompany two children (my husband, who rarely takes a day off, came with us and his tech company coworkers were so jealous when they learned why). There really is something for everyone. I think the kids would have been satisfied with just the first couple exhibits. Eventually we had to move them along, "Come on! So much more to see and do." The old classics we all saw on field trips growing up (I lived about two hours away and we still went) are there as well as some new things. The space is just so much more open and feels so fresh and new. I usually dread a museum cafe meal but this one is really great. You can even eat there without a ticket to the Exploratorium. There's sushi and simple stuff for the kids... even cocktails! Parking is expensive, if you have a small group you might consider taking BART. I almost upgraded my ticket to a membership so I could come in and enjoy the views whenever I want. For now I just plan to go back for one of their After Dark events.

As a teacher, the place is convenient and great for field trips! I just wish there was more structure in terms of organization and tours. But nonetheless, the kids still had a great time.

Great museum located on the piers line of San Francisco. It has lots of activities for kids and big enough size to fit all the people going into.
There are number of experiments with liquids, electricity, light, and all of them have quite clear description nearby. It say what's happening and why in short and easy to understand posts.
There is a parking lot right across the street. When you pay for it, mention that you are going to go into the Exploratorium, and you will get more than 50% off the cost.
