An absolute must see if you are visiting the Seattle area! Whether you are a lover of books, movies or especially music, you will find an exhibit to enjoy. My personal favorite is the horror exhibit - so cool to get behind the scenes scoop of some of the most classic scary movies.

If I hadn't had a ticket purchased via the City Pass I would have hated it. A joke of a museum at $22 a ticket. Hendrix video's were the only thing worth seeing and I can see them for free at home on a better sound system. All the other crap on syfi and horror movies were costumes and trival junk. Should be bulldozed for better use of the space. Maybe a landfill or driving range.

Great selection of things to see and do. Its a 2 hour walk through with the option of another 2 hour star trek wing for additional 5 dollars. Great for learning a and entertainment either solo or as a family.

I absolutely love this museum! The exhibits were all really cool and showcased a lot of unique artifacts such as film props and costumes. I particularly enjoyed the exhibit on horror, as it's a genre that has contributed greatly to our culture but is often viewed as less worthy of study than other media genres. The special exhibit on Marvel was really cool too! It was interesting to see how the stories have been translated/changed for different media formats as well as over time.

Such a fun place! Horror section next to the Syfy stuff. All the music! Video games! Jimmy Hendrix, Pearl Jam! Getting to play around with a ton of different instruments. Can't wait to go back!

It was an ok place to visit. I think if you're into classic rock, alternative & grunge metal, it would probably be amazing. It's not exactly my style, but I do think some people will like it.

Really fun museum. It took about 3 hours for me to go through all the exhibits moving at a medium pace.

The Nintendo-sponsored special exhibit on indie games was really interesting and interactive.

There was a cool section paying homage to Seattle's Kurt Cobain.

The horror section was very unique with some fun interactive screens and a wide selection of horror flicks throughout cinematic history.

As a giant nerd, I geeked out way too hard over the sword from Conan the Barbarian.

Fantasy, Horror, SciFi, Music, and video games, who could ask for more! I have been to MoPOP several times and each visit is a whole new experience, there are new exhibits and of course movie nights that so much fun to enjoy all year round!

I was expecting more pop culture. Nothing on toys, games, or technology that changed pop culture. Just a bunch of memorabilia from movies and TV shows, still cool to see but not for the price tag of going.

Great place to visit, they had a good selection of SciFi, Fantasy, and Horror props. And the rooms were themed to match. I had a nice time. The only negative comment is they could have been larger exhibits.

Very cool Museum, lots of iconic artifacts from your favorite films and seattle-based artist Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The exhibits are kind of small but there's a lot of detail put into the design, they are well laid out and all the artifacts are nicely displayed with informational placards. The extra ticketed marvel exhibit was a great look into the history of all the character in the mcu as well as marvels success and the history of comics as a whole. The sky Church area that played live concert footage is a great place to relax in between checking out exhibits and the indie games exhibit provided a cool look into that industry in a really cool setting.

This is such a unique place. After our first visit we bought a membership.

It is uniquely Seattle, while at the same time global in breadth.

If you are into music, movies, or popular culture in general; this is a must see to complete your Seattle visit!

Tips:

Check out the huge, domed Sky Church where music videos play all day long. It s a beautiful and powerful experience.

For the fantasy buffs: I nerded out seeing the original props and costumes from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Go on a weekday for a sublime experience. The crowds are much smaller, and if you are there during the off-season you might get lucky enough to have galleries to yourself!

Would be worth visiting for the third of the admission price as the place does have some interesting artifacts, fun activities (I liked the sound lab the most) and, I admit, it might be a super cool place if you are big fan of certain artists or genres (or if you are an artistic type yourself). For the regular guy it just doesn't have much of the interesting content for the price you have to pay to get here.

It was cool to see the wide variety of items on display at this museum. The architecture of the building is really cool. I especially enjoyed the music rooms where you could play instruments.

Given the price of the tickets, not sure this place is worth the money. Exhibits at first glance appear to be cleverly designed, but lack substance and have a low level of interaction, so some don't hold your interest very long.

If you are into reading about various exhibits fine, if not, you will pay a high price for about an hours worth of museum.

The renowned magazine "Forbes" described the building as one of the 10 ugliest in the world. Frank Gehry, the famous architect, said in a spirit of analogy that they had collected pictures of the Stratocasters, guitar bodies, until an idea of parts of the guitars came together to form this abstract picture. At first glance and depending on the perspective, it looks like mashed canned food. Only when you take your time can you see that more.
The museum was founded in 2000 as an experience music project by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft. The uses of this complex building are varied, so it houses a. Pop culture exhibits, interactive action stations, sound sculptures and various teaching and learning materials. Workshops and other events also take place
A science fiction museum is also integrated, which flourished as a separate part of pop culture
Anyone who is interested in other interpretations and forms of expression of this art form beyond the complex work of pop music can find an appropriate pool here.

They have a vast array of beautiful items on displauy with historic weight attached to them. Slightly tacky at times, but it's fun to listen to all the variety of Seattle bands through headphone stations scattered around. Rooms devoted to making your own music is fun too!

Visited MoPop recently with my three year old. He was in awe of the giant screen (where a Bowie music video was playing) at the entrance which, the staff explained was the largest single screen in the Pacific Northwest.

My toddler was fascinated by the Marvel exhibit (and a little frightened by Thing, sitting lazily on a red couch) and piqued by the colorful Marvel characters he was seeing. He was especially curious of Spiderman hanging upside down.

But, that was the extent of his interest in the museum, dragging me out after an hour, and flatly expressing disinterest in the other parts of MoPop (sorry gift shops!).

Lesson learned, MoPop is not for small kids.

So, good for older pop culture enthusiasts, lots to look at (would've loved to spend a lot more time at the Sci-fi exhibit), lots of souvenirs to choose from and buy, a must stop in any Seattle sightseeing itinerary. Note, parking is not available onsite but the monorail is just a few steps away.
