A must visit if you're in Seattle. Three hours wasn't enough time.
I was worried that there wouldn t be enough to do here - but the exhibits were well thought out, interesting, funny and thought provoking. While I visited, I saw the Star Trek exhibit, fantasy exhibit, horror movie exhibit, marvel exhibit and more. It s important to know that there are multiple exhibits live at one time and they are all quite large and worthwhile. Worth the price of admission for sure.
Cool museum. You can probably find something better and cooler to do though in Seattle!
This is in my opinion the best museum in Seattle. There is something for everyone including a large music exhibit, rotating exhibits (video games the month I visited, sci-fi, horror, fantasy. It is in the middle of all the great downtown attractions.
They have awesome music interactions, gaming sections, fan favorite parts and most importantly they have awesome exclusive exhibits! The Museum of Pop Culture is a very fun visit.
Excellent museum. High entry price. Very cool architecture.
One of my favorite museums, I'd set aside at least 3 hours, but recommend 4-5. Really cool and insightful exhibits (sci fi, horror, fantasy, music, etc).
It was better than I expected. But you only need to go once and you've seen the thing.
Really cool exhibits, my entire family had such a great time & we were able to see the Marvel exhibit, so cool! We also enjoyed the sci find, fantasy & horror areas - my twins are 11, and were able to handle the horror, but it's definitely PG13 as it warns (one of them almost didn't go in!)
When I went they had a marvel showcase going on. I loved their exhibits. They have a big sound lab where you can go and create your own music.
Very interesting including. Marvel exhibit was excellent.
A museum to visit with plenty of time, specially for those attracted by music, horror movies and video games, among other elements of Pop Culture. During my wivit I enjoyed an extensive exhibition on Hendrix and Nirvana. A lot of clothes, guitars, documents and memorabilia. It has interactive areas such as the sound lab and plenty of games. This location is quite fun, entertaining, colourful and educational, which makes it a must, when in Seattle.
Beautiful building and venue to showcase exhibits. More Pop Culture than music though. Would have liked to see a little more of the latter.
Wow! Pricey but it is worth it. Collections are unbelievable.
This is a wonderful museum with so many interactive exhibits and pieces to look at, the only downside is that it can be too crowded to actual partake in some of the activities avalible.
Love it, lots of grunge love and music love, a must go place
Super dope museum full of must-see exhibits for nerds and rock lovers!
This place is great, they have a lot to see and do. They have the Sifi area with all of your Ghostbusters, Terminator, Star Trek, Star Wars and Space Odyssey props. The Horror section has the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, the Walking Dead and more. The Indie Gaming Lounge sponsored by Nintendo is great, gives you a good relaxed gaming experience with Independently made video games. The Marvel section is huge! Anything from old comics, props and costumes, documentaries on how and why they created these characters, and a cool Irin Man experience. There are a lot more exhibits as well, including Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Jimmy Hendrix rooms. The merchandise sections are nice, a good selection of items and shirts. Another thing to put on the to-do list. It's right next to the Space Needle, so knock both of them out in the same day for sure!
This was absolutely so much fun! If you love all things horror and sci-fi and fantasy and pop culture! Must come! (Was here in 2017)
Great exhibits for all ages. We went during the Marvel exhibition and was surprised to see the fantasy, sci-fi and horror exhibits were on at the same time and included in the price. Great value!
Amazing museum, definitely must see when visiting Seattle, go there by monorail, great experience. Plan at least 2 hours to spend there.
Great experience! I love the history in music, horror films, and sci-fi! They added a marvel collection temporarily that kids and adults love! Definitely a must see. I recommend seeing the nirvana exit and horror film exhibit, safe travels!
I really loved the sifi exhibit but I feel like they need more there for the price I just don't see how much of a museum of music it is.
A must see experience for people of all ages, interests, and families or couples or singles. Pricey though....
a must-see for anyone who loves music, fashion, movies and/or TV! loved it here!
Was a really cool experience. I loved the marvel part.
If you like straight white geek pop culture, this museum is for you. Otherwise, it's a hard pass. Very very boring.
By and far the best museum I have ever visited. We spent nearly 5 hours there, the place is huge. Very well put together and the staff were awesome. Would absolutely recommend this visit if you enjoy music or anything related to the entertainment industry.
Very convenient to have concerts in our backyard practically. A few months back I saw rod Stewart and Cyndi lauper. One of my favorite concerts I got to enjoy at the White River amphitheatre.
I love this place!
I've been there five times in the past four years. Always an awesome experience.
Different music, video game, and movie exhibits on top of an awesome music lab, performance venue, gift shop, and restaurant/bar.
Truly a special place.
Most museums dive into history. It was refreshing to see a museum that explores our contemporary society. As a geek, I thoroughly enjoyed the Marvel exhibit.
Worth it if you have 2-3 hours.
Very interesting; lots of authentic memorabilia!
It was a great rainy afternoon activity. We spent the whole afternoon looking at all the really cool items they had. The exhibits were well put together.
Super cool! Everything from Jimi hendrix to star wars
No words for the amount of props of movies there are.
Seeing some of these world renowned film props and instruments was worth the price alone. Informative and succinct info on what's there, and it felt like there's an exhibit for any sort of nerd who might wander in. The SciFi exhibit was unreal. Seeing Kurt Cobain's guitars was nuts, as well as Jimi Hendrix's equipment. And if you're into Pearl Jam, there's (oddly enough) an entire section just for them.
The biggest disappointment of our otherwise amazing trip to Seattle. If you're looking for a music museum that truly pays homage to the greats, look elsewhere. If you want a movie theatre with a football game playing in it, a room full of nintendos and 3 floors dedicated to Star Trek memorabilia then maybe you will love this place. To be fair there is one small room with some amazing guitars in it.
I attended for the first time on the national free museum day, having lived in Seattle for a while but never having bothered to go check it out before. Honestly, I'm glad I went on the free admission day because I think that the exhibits in general felt overpriced for the value that they delivered, my expectations might have been too high going in but it was unfortunately less of an educational experience than I wanted it to be. I did not pay extra for the special add-on exhibits so I cannot comment on the quality of those experiences, but overall I would say that the general admission ticket is more comparable to the value you get from Las Vegas-area museum attractions.
Was really fun but wish the horror film area was open.
Really fun museum! We experienced exhibits about horror movies, fantasy movies, sci fi movies, and various musical artists, The sound lab was fun!! Our teen enjoyed the gaming area as well. We spent about 2.5 hours at the museum. Even though I am not a fan of the musical artists that were featured, the exhibits were still interesting. Some fun interactive activities as well.
We had a great time. So many interesting to do and see.
Cooo things to see here, bigger than I thought it would be
This is a must for any Nirvana fan! The guided tour was amazing!
Incredible place! An awesome experience for anyone and everyone!! So many different exhibits with new attractions coming and going constantly!
Best museum I have ever visited, simply sensational!
Amazing history lesson of Seattle local music and music in general. The fan shop was great.
I almost hyperventilated because of all the coolness
One of the best attractions in the city! Well worth a visit.
Amazing exhibits for music and film. The horror section was outstanding as well. One of the highlights of seattle for me.
Amazing museum for music and popular culture. During our visit also had an amazing Sci-Fi/Fantasy exhibition plus a Hello Kitty one! I got to see the hoverboard from Back to the Future, the Terminators from Terminator 2, A proton pack from Ghostbusters, original art for Hello Kitty and learned about the history of her (it's quite extensive), plus the sword from Conan the Barbarian. Such a great museum. Also it looks really cool from the outside.
Super cool. If you enjoy any music or video games. There is absolutely something fantastic waiting for you.
Very fun place. Great history of music here. Cool exhibits as well. The indie game area and the wearable art are both worth checking out. The layout of the museum is a little awkward and does not flow well. Also a few exhibits were closed when we went for a private event of some sort, quite the bummer.
Love Mopop! Great exhibits! Interactive exhibits. Good for kids, great for adults.
Great place to spend the day with your kids. I would recommend the membership if you live close enough to be able to go regularly. We spent a lot of time in the sound lab this last visit. Thats worth the trip alone!
Really made my trip to Seattle. Clean and staffed. Loved all the exhibits...the horror was my FAV ! A must see if you're in town.
This is the kind of museum that I enjoy. Music, movies, literature, sci-fi, fantasy, video games, both hands on and history. It just needs more places to sit. My knees are hurting from all the concrete walking and stairs. So very much so see.
So much to see! Make sure you leave plenty of time see everything, especially if you plan to tour the marvel exhibit. 2 hours was not enough.
Where to start. The EMP hosts such a variety of events and exhibits that anyone can find something for them.
Just outstanding. Along with the old, it also holds some of the newest stuff that thrills you up. Staff and service are just great. Just the best one. I will surely come back here.
Loved coming here! I'm not really into music, but the science fiction, fantasy, Star Trek, and Indie Game exhibits were well worth coming here for.
Great exhibits! It's a cramped building and very busy! Go early.
The exhibits are really great, truly something to see. The building is also designed really beautifully. There are also some great options in the cafe and the coffee is really great as well.
One of the best places to visit in Seattle.
It's very difficult to find your way around this museum. Some exhibits were impressive, like the Star Trek exhibit, but others were just ok.
So many things to love here, whether you like pop music, science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics, or all of the above (which I do). Entrance price is a little steep but worth every penny. Make sure you give yourself three hours. I only had two and a half and was definitely rushed
A bit expensive but the museum does have some fantastic memriabilia.
