Great museum, excellent music displays and memorabilia. If you're a Nirvana fan, it's definitely for you
Plan at least a couple hours to absorb. Phenomenal collection here!
Its weird, fun and informative. The kids did not want to leave!
Fun. Overpriced in my opinion but worth it once sight seeing.
The displays are okay. There isn't much interaction nor anything especially exciting. Almost everything is behind display cases and no drinks are allowed in the exhibits. The employees were not extremely helpful and mostly rude. One employee came over and told my friend to put her baby's bottle away as breast milk was not allowed in the exhibits. It was pretty extra in my opinion. I won't be going back.
Cool! A little bit expensive. But, man! You are in Seattle
The exhibits are amazing. The Star Wars Exhibit and the Nirvana are a must see
My favorite part was the sound lab where you get to experiment with instruments, singing and mixing
Always love coming here for events! They are professional and the spaces are high quality with great service!
Great museum, with a fine selection of terrific artist.
This is a pretty cool place. Just look at it. Think about the time it took to imagine, design, manufacture, and assemble each exacting beam and pieces of skin. The interior didn't disappoint either. Clearly there is a focus on music but in particular Nirvana and to a lesser degree Hendrix. If you have the slightest interest in music you should go for history and the interactive exhibits upstairs. Also, we got a kick out of the horror flim exhibit. They had some one of a kind props.
This place had way more stuff to look at than we had time.
Just moved here and LOVE this area. This museum is so much fun!
Fantastic Exhibits all around, everything from Star Trek to the Muppets to Rock and roll, if you like Pop culture at all, you love it here!!
This is a fun place to visit. See memorabilia of stars and interact with different instruments.
Lots of different exhibits, heavy on music and too heavy on Seattle grunge. Last I checked there is a strong hip hop scene in the Seattle area too.
Interactive displays and an opportunity to experiment with sound and music.
I've been to a lot of museums and this one is truly unique. Not to be missed. It's a manageable size, and you can definitely see everything in 2 or 3 hours if you hustle.
Had an absolutely blast here with my family. We came to see the Marvel exhibit, as we are all fans of the MCU. The exhibit was outstanding. Much, much larger than I expected. Even if you are a casual Marvel fan, I highly recommend the Marvel exhibit. On top of the Marvel part, the rest of the museum is just as wonderful. You can easily spend the entire day walking through everything. There must be hundreds of props and costumes from movies and TV. If I lived closer, I would without question get a year pass so I could keep going.
The only con of the museum is that parents take their very, very young children and let them run free here because they believe it is a children s museum. It felt like every where I went, there was an 18-month old under my feet. That s obviously not the museum s fault as it is a family museum, but it s definitely good to know before you go.
Just Great! Almost all what you like from Marvel is at MOP.
Ehh... this place was a good way to burn an hour or so as it was included in the CityPass we purchased. I found it difficult to navigate... almost like a maze. Not sure if that was intentional or if I'm just old and grumpy. Seemed to be centered around grunge-rock, naturally so.
What can I say? EMP is Awesome! Love the exhibits they have here
First time and was super impressed. Ticked are $30 a PC. Spendy.
28$ for a collection of old pieces you can see while dining at Planet Hollywood. This "museum" is a total joke
Well done displays. Great kids concert happening while we were there.
The jam booths are amazing. The rest of the exhibits are also great with a ton of music culture exhibits. Definetly worth going to after chihuley and the space needle.
We thoroughly enjoyed this museum. Very interesting and lots to see. We even made a music video. Take your time and spend the day!! Worth the trip!! We highly recommend the Seattle City Pass if you plan on staying three or more days. If you go to the Space needle, look down when you take the elevator. The top of the EMP building is shaped like a guitar.
If my review was helpful to you, please
Great exhibits, great experience. Love the one price to see all. Very family friendly.
It's super nice. Make sure to walk around slow and read everything
Some of the exhibits are nice and the building is cool looking on the outside. There's no food or drink allowed, which is standard, but they don't require you to dump water bottles out so at least you don't have to run around looking for water before taking a break outside. The staff are helpful. There's one exhibit that costs an additional fee. Bathrooms are only inside the ticketed area.
Amazing place! I suggest buying your tickets online ahead of time to get in right away.
Loved it! My husband is a huge Pearl Jam fan and if we would ve come a couple weeks later we would have seen the exhibit. However, there was so much to see, from horror movies to video games to music, it was a very cool place.
Well worth the price of a membership. The MoPOP has a wide selection of exhibits that is sure to catch anyone's interest. I last visited when the marvel exhibit was there. My whole family really enjoyed our time there. I would highly recommend the MoPOP to anyone looking for a fun family outing or just something to do over the weekend.
We loved this museum, in particular the Marvel expo. The museum is fun, educational and will be fun for all (don't take small kids to the horror expo - they might get scared). The location is also great, just next door to the glass museum and the Space Needle.
Gorgeous space with awesome permanent exhibitions. Also got to see a temporary one about Indie Games and it was very well done and interesting too!
Amazing museum with great exhibits. Well worth the admission price!
The things that were in the museum were not interesting at all, it was all old bands that didnt interest me.
Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits on Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror. They have an awesome collection of movie props on display. Well worth the cost of admission.
Cool place. Don t think it s worth a $30 admission, but we bought the City Pass and it was included. Either MPop or the Zoo and it s January in Seattle, so the zoo was not an option. Anyways, if you are a Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or Jimi Hendrix fan you will love it. I enjoyed the Fantasy, Horror, and Sci-Fi sections the most. They have Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and many lore items. Buy a City Pass. Worth it.
I was very upset by the Music museum which is ery poor. You see overaly a bunch of guitars with just some photos from the 3 celebrities!
Great place to learn about music, movies and other art forms that have changed the global culture.
There aren't as many displays as I expected even after paying EXTRA for the star trek in experience. Location and overall feel is great however.
Not our first visit and certainly not our last. We went on opening weekend of Minecraft: The Exhibition and had a fantastic time. The time and effort that went into building the exhibit can be seen in the quality of the pieces. Lots of picture opportunities. Great for small kids and teens alike. It's only in Seattle for a year before going on tour so make sure you stop by the museum to check it out. Oh yeah, and everything else they have is AMAZING too
So much fun! The sci-fi and Marvel exhibits were super enjoyable.
I went here for a video game event a while back.
First off, let there be no mistake that the exterior architecture is edgy and beautiful. It's a testament to the kind of raw energy that Seattle was known for the '90s and I suggest people give it a bit more attention before writing it off as a piece of trash.
The video game event I attended was mediocre at best. The exhibit showed a wide range of games, but only some were playable and they covered only a tiny sliver of the massive industry. In an attempt to cover the entire history of video games they only briefly examined any particular period or title. The exhibit seemed to lack an overall theme or purpose, other than something vague about informing the public about video games. I wonder how carefully this was curated. If this purports to be a museum it should take its craft as seriously as one.
The exhibit was also tiny, occupying just a few rooms. This made it a quick trip you can pass through in an hour or so. Either EMP is painfully tiny or the other exhibits are larger.
During the video game event we had the chance to view some other galleries. We went into a Jimi Hendrix exhibit. It was mildly interesting but the small time we spent there seemed like more than enough to get the gist. For hardcore fans the museum must have real appeal. For the rest of it seems excessive.
The museum seems overly focused on pop culture at the expense of meaningful history or art. Perhaps that's related to the museum's status as a tourist trap that doesn't have to be any good. People will go anyways.
This is the nature of a privately-funded pop culture museum: the subject matter and curatorial approach reflect the interests of the benefactor. This one doesn't work for me.
The museum is an adventure for all ages. It has some of the most timeless memorabilia known, as it relates to pop culture. See things from Jimmy Hendrix s passport to Dorthy s dress and a ghost busting proton pack. Lots of interactive exhibits around sound. A bit on the pricey side for me but really plenty to see for you money.
Really cool has great Prince and SyFy exhibits also great surveniour shop.
EMP is always fun, the Star Trek exhibit this time was very cool. It's amazing at how much of a Sci-Fi culture Paul Allen and his family have shared! And this museum has the most amazing Bloody Marys not to mention one of the best bartenders.
It was really fun and exciting! I had a great time here with my girlfriend and take a lot of pictures!
People had warned me that it wasn't worth the money for years. I stubbornly ponied up 50 bucks for me and a friend to go. I should have listened to all those people.
This was a fantastic museum with great exhibits that invite you to get involved.
A great place to visit, especially if you like Jimmy Hendrix, Nivana or Pearl Jam. Lots of Cool things to see. About 40.00 per person including Marvel museum, but I thought it was worth it.
A bit underwhelmed considering the entrance fee is 25$. The music room was really cool, you can learn how to jam on guitar or drums. The games console room was interesting - could easily spend an hour there alone.
So much fun! the marvel and horror exhibits were amazing!
Important artifacts from popular history in entertainment and interactive, also!
