They don't care for customers. For example I asked them to set the power on for me for my new building which I rented. They said if you want it in two days you have to pay. Otherwise you have to wait for at least five days and we don't know when we install it for you. It might be a day or five days after. Very impolite customer service.

Wish I could have given zero stars !! I am currently having an AWFUL experience with Epcor and would switch providers this second if I could. I requested power to be turned on in my new apartment September 14th, I was then told that power would be turned on September 19th it is now September 24th and I still have no power. Called someone today and they said you could have power between now and Monday 26th. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I have called everyday since the move and every service agent has been completely useless and unable to help or connect me with someone who can.

I signed up for Encor over 3 months ago with a promise of a $75 gift card. Several follow ups later and a "its on its ways" still nothing. What a scam! Do not promise an incentive for signing up and then never give the incentive, pretty sure there is a law against that to protect consumers.

I'm editing my review, after months of fighting with Epcor I finally received the gift card as promised. Someone on their facebook page of all places was able to help me, they actually tracked down the issue and helped me!

This company is a complete sham and rip off...my bills with epcor were unbelievablely high and outrageous..always paid over 200 to 300 a month with epcor so I switched to Enmax for gas and power and my bills have never been over $150 a billing cycle...even just energy my bills were ridiculous and rhe customer service with both these companies is the bottom of the barrel...just energy is worse then epcor...to bad there isnt a different company for water or Id lieave epcor all together

Since EPCOR took over drainage maitenance, there is no maintenance at all. In ALL residential streets that have mature trees, catch basins are plugged up with debris. EPCOR idea of cleaning is to gather the stuff blocking the flow of the rain water, and to put it on the boulevard, or on the side - instead of hauling it away. Next rain, the same problem. Because they have no competition, they do not care. Even one star is too much for the lack of care for such an important issue.

I signed up for power on epcor's website on September 20th. Easy enough process and I immediately got an email confirming that the start date would be September 25th. Next day I get a call saying it will be 3-5 business days from the 25th unless I pay a $140 'quick service connection' or something like that. I refused as when I signed up on the website there was zero mention of that and I had an email confirming my start date as the 25th. The customer service rep was incredibly rude and confrontational so I asked to speak to a manager and she put me on hold and the line cut out. I called back but made zero progress with them. Its now September 28th and I still have no power despite requesting services over a week ago. So incredibly frustrating. I wish there was another company to deal with here.

Terrible company and customer relations. No one know anything here. If I could give this zero stars, I would. This company gives Edmonton a terrible name because they are the only ones you can deal with permits and inspections, yet they have ZERO scheduling understanding, transparency of what s required. Let me be loud and clear I CRINGE every time I have to call them.

Terrible customer service, moved from residence 6 months ago as a divorce and paid 3 months of the service, was informed that when my ex wife would take on the use of the services at our location that any amount owing after that would be transferred to her. But not to disconnect as they would charge her 200 dollars re-connect fee. Needless to say they stuck me with the bill three months later..... Will never USE AGAIN

They are a bunch of crooks I had my services restricted because I was off of work had needed them to wait 6 days till I could pay off the Account they wouldn't then I pay off the account call in with the confirmation number and to get my services restored and they tell me it's going to be another 150 to have it turned back on in a couple of days or 300 to have it done today and be cause I leave where I have a well I can't even get water without the power.what a screw job and there is nothing I can do about it what change suppliers can't they are the only supplier in the area.

12 times trying to get them to change phone numbers after they had a sub company of theirs call my wife and degrade her. All times they said the number was change and they still contacted the wrong number. Their customer service cannot get it right and cannot do anything to resolve anything. Do.yourself a favor and go elsewhere, I know I will be.

I wish there would be a 0 rating. worst company for electricity supply. every month my bill is increasing like anything and i am the only person staying at home and that too not staying at home for 15 hours in whole 24 hrs. Customer Service is not helpful and at last i end up being upset with the company as whole. terrible.. terrible..

Outrageous delivery charges, I can get items shipped from anywhere on this planet, cheaper than the cost to deliver electricity 30 miles from the generating plant.. Even if they shipped the power in a Fed Ex truck, it would still be cheaper... Explain to your customers, what the delivery and transmission charges entail..

The staff is extremely rude and sometimes even confrontational. There are a couple good ones but that is an anomole. The power is the same regardless of which company you choose so I would recommend choosing anyone other than epcor.

My household pays our bill, and the next day power...

My household pays our bill, and the next day power is cut. We call on a Thursday to let them know we have paid that day. Next day we wake up with no power. We then called again and are told that our payment arrangement wasn't acknowledged for whatever reason, we have to pay an 130 dollar restart up fee, and that our power will take anywhere from 5 days to start up again. Worst customer service I have ever seen. This city is a joke. It's a shame there's only one company to deal with. Everyone's basically living under epcors dictatorship. Very angry about this.

What a joke. Didn't even receive a notice of services being disrupted. Fortis guys show up say my services are being limited. Then the lady I talked to was rude. Complete miserable woman. So rude and miserable that she obviously hates her job. In short she said there's nothing that can be done just pay the bill in full. Hung up and called again and talked to someone else. They were able to lete pay the past due which was alot less than the full balance. Seeings how Fortis had left its costing an additional $160 to get the limiter switched. What a money grab. Switching services asap.

signed up for Encore by Epcor and was promised a $125 dollar master card. They sent $75 dollars in the mail, with a letter that read $125. After taking to costumer service they offered to do nothing about it and chalked it up to a "printing error". Considering it was their mistake it's pretty awful costumer service to do nothing about it. Would never recommend Epcor to anyone and will be switching energy companies ASAP.

Tremendous waste of energy, so to speak. Save yourself the time, money, and inevitable headache - DO NOT purchase services with EPCOR. Distribution fees are over THREE TIMES the actual energy used. In an industry we can all agree is fraudulent, EPCOR seems to be at the core, so to speak, at the entire fraudulent system.

At first, they will try to obtain a ridiculously high startup fee/deposit (which I can guarantee has absolutely zero merit or need, as it costs nothing to begin services). Then, as you call to ask why there is a $414.83 bill sitting in your mailbox, they will backtrack and act as if it's not necessary - just give them access to your credit history (which, as we all know is completely safe from Chinese hackers - thanks Equifax!). Finally, as you're convinced the tomfoolery is finished, they will send you another $66.49 bill; but don't worry, only $12.25 will be of actual usage charges, the remaining $54.24 will be a combination of distribution charges (have you ever seen EPCOR employees working? Do they exist? Fake news.), administration fees (someone's gotta lick the stamps, right?), and finally, a final combination of riders that are as good as garbage (as an ex-insurance agent, riders are used to rinse you even further of your hard earned cash).

Do yourselves a favour, rather than signing with EPCOR, just take your wallet and burn whatever cash is in there, it's more efficient than EPCOR's customer service line.

Go ask your local government official why the cameras on our cellphones have evolved beyond comprehension, while our plugs in our homes haven't changed since the 1940s.

There's a war on energy, folks. Do your own research.
Don't end up like me, don't choose EPCOR.

It'd be cheaper to run your home on AA batteries.

The company was okay but having to pay a 300 dollar deposit to get hooked up is outrageous. Even worse is how long they take to get this money back to you. Have had my account done with sense October 31 is now almost end of December and I am being sent an invoice so far every month stating my refund cheque will still be 8-10weeks from now. Seriously over 4 Months to get a refund cheque? In this day and age there really is no excuse for this.

Plus bill has doubled in amount. What s going on EPCOR? Not only me so many people I know that use your service has the same issue.

We got our water bill on auto-payment and from a point after the Pandemic starts, The autopay stopped taking money out. We did not know why so We called Epcor and was told that the bill will be split into future payment and we would not have to worry that the water being shut down. However the autopayment never resumes and we got water shutdown eventually. We called customer service again and was told the case is different now and we have to pay the balance owed. We cleared the balance immediately as we were never intented not paying because we had the automatic payment. We were then told even with the payment it takes 48 hours to resume the water service. We have a family of 6 in the house and we had no idea what the life will be like without water! I would like someone please look into that and have our water back as soon as possible

It is practically impossible to talk to a real person, let alone find a phone number that doesn't transfer your call until it's inevitably lost and you give up in total frustration.
I spent most of Friday afternoon trying to talk to someone connected with replacing power poles on the streets & lanes of this city.
The only thing that Epcor does successfully is insulate themselves from the customers who are unlucky enough to be in this city and have no choice but to be abused by their lack of response and caring.

Trying to report an outage - waited on hold for 30 MINUTES. I don t know if the one person they have answering the phone is enough.

And there s **no way to submit an outage online.**

Furthermore, it s like they re rubbing in your face when the hold muzak is interrupted every few minutes to tell me I can check online to see where the power outages are.

Ppl depend on power for so many things - it s important to act on them immediately and waiting on hold for 30 minutes to just inform them is NOT acceptable.

I Am Extremely Dissatisfied With Epcor And Their Service. I Was Supposed To Have My Power Hooked Up One Week Prior To Moving In And I Have Now Lived In My New Apartment For Over A Day. I Had To Go Without Power Last Light. I Got To Sit In Pitch Black For My First Night. Then Come To Find Out They Sent A Technican To Turn On Another Residents Power In The Same Building In The Same Electrical Room And Simply Ignored The Fact That I Also Had A Work Order For My Power To Get Hooked Up. This Other Resident Doesn't Move In Until Tomorrow But Somehow Has Power And I Don't. I Called At Least 10 Times And Still No One Has Showed Up. What Do These Technicians Get Paid For.?

My daughter lives in an apt at 10040 151st Edmonton AB - the owner just sold building and called EPCOR to take his name off utilities after taking several tenants money for this bill. EPCOR showed up yesterday and cut off the power/heat for several units and when my daughter opened the door and he saw it as an occupied unit to took off quick but not before leaving everyone in the cold. My daughter called EPCOR and the girl there pretty much called her a liar stating that she hasn't lived there since June. So much more to say but the main thing is...ITS AGAINST THE LAW TO SHUT OFF HEAT AFTER OCT 15TH AND EPCOR DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE THAT PEOPLE/PETS ARE FREEZING AND THEIR BILLS WERE PAID TO THE LOW LIFE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE BUILDING. Edmonton Police has also been called to see whats going on re this situation

Something needs to be done about Epcor. The fact that they are the only option for water, apparently leaves room for them to act completely ignorant and disrespectful to people when they are contacted. That is to say if you can even get ahold of someone to talk to. All they do is talk in circles, and if you catch them in one of their many lies they get quite nasty. I would be glad to at least see some competition get in on the disgusting monopoly of money this sad excuse for a company is making.

On of the worst utility companies. In US they will not charge for leaky flush valve in Canada they do. I had $600 or $700 over payment caused by leaking flush valve. Then charged me at higher rate per m3 in both water and drainage cuz I consumption over the normal economic amount !!
We need a Canadian company to take over.

I have lived in 5 provinces in Canada. LOL try drinking Winnipeg water without questioning why it is a tad yellow. The amount of processes and people involved to bring Edmonton clean water is astounding. If you hate Epcor that much, build in the country and spend 20K on a well.

Called on may 17 to say i needed power at apt 205 ...

Called on may 17 to say i needed power at apt 205 for june 1. They wrote down that i moved there but never gave me power. June 3 i wake up to no power. I called to ask why i didnt have power, they said sorry it will be on within 24-48 hours for 143$. Tuesday there was a note on my door saying "we were here to disconnect your power for nonpayment." Even though i pay my bill every month.
I called them again and they told me there was a retailer mixup and i would have power within 24-48 hours. 48 hours went by. I called them again to see when i will have power and they told me that i have had power since tuesday. I asked my landlords if there was a switch or something they could turn on. They said theyve never done anything like that and that epcor always does everything. I switched my breakers on and off and.. nothing. Not sure what to do. Im gonna call them again i guess. This is a terrible company

Update: after epcor continued to insist that i did in fact have power and that i was just too stupid to see it, i finally called fortis. They came out and turned the power on.

Set up automatic billing twice. First time they end up calling to say my bill isn't paid, so I set it up again. Second time, I kept getting automatic calls from them which would instantly put me on hold to wait for a real person, without any input, in the middle of the work day, with no reason for the call. Needless to say, I can't wait on hold while working, so I ignored the calls as I've already setup billing with them twice, so there shouldn't be any issues. Less than a month goes by after these calls where no real person is calling and there is no explanation for the calls and I get an angry voicemail from a collection agency. They have my address, my phone number, my automatic withdrawal info (twice) and they are still trying to pull garbage like this.
They also tried to charge several hundred dollars as a "connection fee" when I was just changing the name on the bill.
I've cancelled services with them and will never return.

Pros: Local Employees. Polite and they try to be helpful but their hands are bounds with company red tape. Short wait times. Delivery of service is reliable.

Con 1: Had to chase down $75 Gift Card. Finally got it. Gift Card amount on letterhead was $125, so I figured it was a customer service gesture due to the wait. No, it was a misprinting that Encore refused to honor, even though I took my concern to Customer Loyalty and then a 3rd party Utilities Commission(sharks with no teeth).

Con 2: They would not honor the new $50 Credit promotion, even though my account is in excellent standing. I tried speaking to different departments including Customer Loyalty, but s big No!

Can I recommend them. Well, Utility Providers and Retailers are a Cartel and their made up service fees are the same wherever you go. The service and delivery fees are more than the energy cost itself. The Utility Commission (a total joke) has no teeth and can only recommend a utility company do something and not enforce it.

Just the stupidest thing ever! About 9AM this mor...

Just the stupidest thing ever! About 9AM this morning. Plumbing truck was parked across the street for what seemed like a very long time. I felt the fellow was casing our house. Finally about 11 am an Epcor truck arrived. The fellow got out to meet Epcor and they went to the house. Epcor left and shortly after a red car came, they as well went with the plumber to the house. It is now 3pm and the plumbing truck is still there! I went to ask him what he was doing here all day and go offer him some water! He said he was still waiting for Epcor!, they had to come shut the power so he could change the conduit out and now he has to wait for them to return to turn the power on!! So far 6 hours of this guy sitting in a hot truck because Epcor cannot give them a time! In the mean time the home owner is on the hook for the cost of the plumber SITTING there! What. Friggin system!!

Horrible excuse of a company. They charged my mother over 1000 dollars for a water bill for ONE MONTH. Then somehow magically the next bill was perfectly normal around 70 bucks. Called 3 plumbers and there was no evidence of a leak or that we used that much water but for some reason were still paying out of our ass for this water bill they REFUSED to take off ( after days spent talking on phone with reps and managers). "Apperently" there was nothing they could do, even of we didnt use the water! How pathetic. Don't know how a company can live with themselves after stealing money from people who barely have any so they can sit on their golden throne. Disgraceful.

As a customer for over 40 years, never having missed a payment prior to July 2020, (had previously paid months in advance re covid) I was stunned when I recieved the rudest letter advising me I would have my service disconnected if payment not recieved in seven days. This is before the august bill was even produced. Tthis is thier concern in times of covid????? This is also the only utility company that will not accept automatic credit card payments without a charge. Do they not recognize the convenience it affords them??? I will be moving everthing I can from this provider. Customer Beware.

Had my electricity bill come from my bank every month no big deal right ? Small apartment 50-60 a month just for my electric.
This December 15th due a metering error they pulled 749$ from my account.

Now at this point you'd think ok mistakes happen right ?

Nope won't issue a refund instead they offered only to credit my account... then they jacked my rates to 30-40$ more monthly.

So this christmas was no presents under the tree due to the greed of this unchecked corporate racket.

Thanks Epcor your a bunch of crooks.

Look else were this company is pure scum.

the government should check them for over charging customer with distribution fees. they have less charge many years ago when people was still reading Meters. Also they should not be permitted to use 3rd Party online card charger have like KUBRA EZ-PAY, last year I paid the invoice late but called Epcor with the reference No of KUBRA EZ-PAY, still 3 days after they disconnected me and charged me for reconnecting also with the reason even I paid with C Card they have had after 6 days from this provider not yet the Payment.
Also we like to have green Ennergy, how can it be when Epcor manage the Power line there can not come green energy, cause epcor will charge so high that other sample windmill provider like to use there power lines so much that the company like in Ontario will go bankruptcy

Moved into a house in rural Alberta, my location was not labeled right to the power meter. We end up with an extra meter our my bill, turns out it was my neighbours and he also had a bill for the same power. How can epcor bill multiple people for the same bill ?
