Simple hotel with spacious suites and good breakfasts. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Great view of the bay! Parking takes getting used to but good experience overall.

Terrible service from Christopher Trowsdell. I've stayed at Embassy Suites for years and in fact stayed at this exact location in the past with good experiences. This time was the opposite. I had made a reservation for one night to stay at this hotel because I was going to a nearby conference and that hotel didn't have availability for the final night of the conference when I booked my travel.
However when I checked in they had availability so I decided to book the extra night so I wouldn't have to move hotels. This was on a Monday and my stay was scheduled for Thursday at Embassy Suites. Their cancellation policy is that I needed to cancel by 4pm that day and it was after 4pm when I called so I asked the staff I talked to if I could still cancel my reservation after I explained the situation. This person was very helpful, told me no problem and gave me a confirmation number for the cancellation. This issue was closed...or so I thought.
I just checked my credit card and I was still charged for the room, which could happen so I called and talked to the manager Chris Trowsdell and explained the situation. He looked up the record confirmed I had called to cancel, confirmed I was in fact cancelled but explained that I had missed the cancellation window so that's why I was charged. I re-explained how they said I could cancel, made not comments about still being charged or any type of fee or penalty and he said it's not their policy to explain that you'll still be charged if you call to cancel inside the cancellation window and it's my fault for cancelling inside the time frame.
Chris saying that it's their policy to let you "cancel" and it's their policy that they don't tell you you'll still be charged is ludicrous. What in the world is the point of canceling then? Shouldn't they tell you either A) you can't cancel or at the very least B) you can cancel but you'll still be charged? I think the obvious answer is yes to both of these. Chris admits they don't tell you you'll still be charged and I should have asked additional questions so that it'd be clear to me that being told that I could cancel didn't imply that you don't get charged.
This would be akin to me calling down to the front desk and asking for a late check out and them saying yes...but then charging me for this without disclosing this. Crazy.
I find it hard to believe that this is acceptable service in this day and age and would advise anyone to not deal with them. Chris you displayed very poor service and even poorer judgement in your decision.
What I did not disclose was that I work at a company that has national conference several times each year where we routinely spend 400k - 600k with the hotel in addition to having 500-1000 guests staying at the properties for 3-5 nights and guess what...I choose the locations and hotels.
Hilton, your parent company will give me my money back so that's not the issue, but I'm ashamed to have had this encounter and embarrassed for them and will express my concerns about holding events at Hilton family properties if this is how they treat their guests. - Mike Stodola, GKIC (a former fan of Embassy Suites)

Embassy Suites gives a lot of extra value to their guest. Breakfast in the morning with happy hour drinks and snacks in the evening. Everyone gets a spacious 2-room suite. My 2 complaints with this recent stay was shower would not get very hot. Warm enough but not enough to fog up the mirror:-( Also the beds and pillows were underwhelming. Would I stay here again? Yes. But not my first pick.

$50.00 Parking really sucks and they make you use valet parking only?? I don't like anyone driving my car so this is not good for me. Parking is better and way cheaper across the street not to mention you can drive in and out all day with no problems. I truly love the embassy suites brand but this location had bad service and poor attention to detail. Not what I was used to from this brand.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and we'll kept. Included breakfast consisted of omlette bar, eggs, bacon, sausage, as well as yogurt and oatmeal. Location was great as well, and very easy to get to a lot of tourist attractions.

I stayed here for a 3-day educational conference. The breakfast provided was drlicious , and the complimentary happy hour was an added pleasant surprise. Rooms are large, comfortable, and well appointed. My greatest compliment however, is to the front desk and their incredible customer service. One of my bags was inadvertently left in the lobby and the front desk went out of their way to help me locate it. As it turns out it had been taken to the unclaimed luggage room and stored safely for me. I cannot thank the front desk staff enough for their attention to detail and customer care.

Overpriced for what it is. Free breakfast is nice, but waiting in a long line probably isn't worth it. The staff are great, and the rooms are nice, but we will probably go elsewhere next time we come to San Diego.

Not the regular Embassy Suites you'd want to spend $325-$450 per night. It needs an overhaul badly! Furniture is peeling, curtains torn, bathroom fixtures broken. Overall disappointing as a Hilton honors member. The hotel is so worn that we are checking out 3 days earlier than originally planned to go to another hotel. Two pluses are the pizza restaurant downstairs and the evening reception. Wait for the renovation before you book!!

Great stay.

Great stay.
Expect to pay $46.00 for parking.
Free parking across the street.

Downtown San Diego has many attractions within walking distance of this hotel. The staff were helpful and the hotel was very clean. Gift shops in the lobby made this a great place to stop in and hang out.

The buffet is great because it's free but the 20minute line you have to stand is frustrating, I've stayed in Dallas at the Suites there, and they manage crowds just fine. Clean rooms, good service.

This is a beautiful hotel with amazing views! Sheila at the front desk is very friendly and welcoming, Breakfast is good and most of all consistent every morning, housekeepers are prompt and very efficient! The hotel is walking distance to the Stadium if you are looking to catch a Padres game... I only had one small issue and the manager Brian made sure that it was resolved and I appreciate him for being so professional and understanding! I honestly highly recommend Embassy Suites Downtown San Diego!!!

This hotel is awesome! The veiw from our room is amazing as you can see from the pictures. Great breakfast and free Happy Hour! It's close to everything downtown. Plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. The only negative I have is the $50 a day parking fee. But I think that may just be a California thing. There is no free parking here!

Even though I was just a friend. I wasn't the one who rented the room. There was construction on the floor above us. It was so loud it sounded like a dentist office. Roto Hammer stuff dropping on the floor. I went to go sleep in my car. I don't know why they would ever rent a room out.. with major construction going on above you.. terrible

There are better options in the area at the same price point. Breakfast was crowded and this is a problem they know about but have yet to fix. Staff is very friendly and nice. Valet was a cluster bomb.

This place is simple in the inside. Nothing crazy fancy, but the service we had was great. Not to mention the unlimited beer/wine/cocktails from 5-7! Way to start our anniversary weekend! Let me tell yo the complimentary breakfast was amazing too! It wasn t like other hotels (coffee, bagel, fruit) they had eggs, potatoes, omelets, juice, you name it! Was it 5 start quality, no. But for a complimentary breakfast it was perfect. If you re staying in San Diego check them out! You ll be happy you did.

Came to this Embassy Suites for a group event over the weekend. I was mostly happy with the location and complimentary breakfast. Unhappy valet crashed a friend's car, scratched another friend's car, and on top of everything, messed up my hotel reservation. I had an upgraded suite but was too busy to address a change. When I asked to at least be comp'd for parking, I was denied.

Did not get room we reserved. Got opisied side of hotel. Got over charged on parking. Got told three times a manager would call us back. Did not get call room was ready. Coffee machine did not work in room. Breakfast was good. Will see if they make this right.

My husband and I love staying at Embassy Suites Hotels. This one-night stay was for Comic Con and was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was great and the room spacious and clean. The evening reception and breakfast were only the cherries on top. They even had a "luggage check" for guests to use once you checked out and went to the Convention for the day. The parking situation was a bit cumbersome though, since $50 valet was the only option. All in all, great place and I recommend this hotel!

Run Down Dump

Run Down Dump

The management must be either incompetent, blind, or both. This place needs to be closed down, completely gutted, and rebuilt. It has to be all original construction, the place is terrible. They are charging 4-star hotel prices for a 2-star hotel in my book. Way overpriced for what you get, and then on top of it all they price gouge you with a $42 parking fee, needless to say there are no other options for parking anywhere near, so they can, "and choose to" charge whatever they want. I will never stay here again, ever, I can't believe this place has not been singled out by Hilton Worldwide, and made a bad example of, terrible from top to bottom. If you booked a room here, good luck, and if you haven't yet, then don't.
