Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo Reviews

To start, I have stayed in this hotel about 20 times. This used to be my favourite premise to stay in SDO, but is no longer.

Why?
- Deteriorated service levels (used to have above average attention of SDO hotels, known for its bad service standards)
- Breakfast, selection has been severely reduced from what it used to be, e.g. no butter or jam offered. Now the breakfast is exactly on the same level as the Hamptons would have. Even the limited options had run out in my last stay (like juice and cheese)
- LASTLY, they continue to try and cheat you with the payment currency of your hotel bill. They convert (without asking) the bill to USD with an abysmal exchange rate meaning that on a 1000usd hotel bill you end up paying around 80usd extra than paying in DOP. The worst part is that they charge your card without telling you about the payment currency. Apparently there are commissions to be made on the expense of the visitor, nothing else explains this behaviour.

I have brought the last point to management attention, but nothing has been done. Making me think that it is really done on purpose by everyone in this establishment.

Excellent hotel for friends and conferences activities

I am a Gold Hilton Member in the United States. I travel all weekend basically and use only Hiton in the USA. My experience at the Embassy Suites was fatal. Especially security people make you feel unwelcome to the hotel. They look you from top to bottom just because you are Dominican and they ask you if you are staying at the hotel in a rude way, they also ask you for the room number, which must be confidential. When a gringo passes, they let it go by without question. It hurts the treatment that we give to the Dominicans and I will not be staying at this hotel ever. I recommend the Merriot in Blue Mall.

Hotel very badly placed, expensive, horrible sight, bad restoration, dirty swimming pool, many taxes of which they only mention during the payment. Hotel cold and impersonal, surely reserved for the jet set ... I personally advise against.

The attentions are magnificent, the suites are pleasant, the pool is great for the whole family including children, the food is exquisite I loved it and even better they do not have to take the highway because it is in the very center of the city, it really rests , enjoy and feed you

Beautiful, modern, cleannn...great location city center for all area access, staff is great! Will now stay no where else.

A wonderful experience to escape the routine of the city, the services of Wanda and Maria were very nice and our room had a spectacular view definitely an ideal option in the city.

Miguel for his kind attention at the Bar and his variety of drinks offer just like the Happy Hour initiative.

OUTSTANDING HOTEL STAY !!!
This is one beautiful city hotel with excellent location and astonishing pool views.
The staff is very well trained and professional.
Receptionist Wanda made us feel welcomed and appreciated.
Wonderful and very comfortable Lounge,the bar attender Johan was so polite and helpful.
The 2 hours complimentary Evening Reception(530 to 730 pm)is awesome.
The Buffet breakfast was great,thanks to Dariela and Rafaela for your help.
The only down was Room Food Service(uncooked and tasteless).
Bellboy Daniel you are a very special person.

I have been there several times over the past 18 months. The panoramic view from the bathrooms are amazing. Social hour with open bar and finger food every evening. Lots of restaurants at walking distance. This is a great place in Santo Domingo.

Very good hotel, clean and nice rooftop pool. People who work at the hotel are friendly. Just dont tell the taxi company down stairs that you are waiting for an uber they will hassle you and try to convince you to go with them. They are also $50 USD each way.

Great staff. Plenty places to go nearby. Very personal service from everyone.
