Part of the museum, amazing and near other great works
Small museum but the David statue is impressive. A must see.
Of course, the art itself was fantastic. Completely worth every penny. But the condition of the museum was pretty shabby, lack of AC etc.
Michelangelo's David is one of those works that even the least adventurous in the art world know. In Florence everything is beautiful and cultural and the statue of David lives up to the city. It is worthwhile to know one of the most timeless works in history. The museum also has other unique works. Don't just focus on David.
I loved it so much I am not a passionate art, but I highly recommend everyone to go and see it at least once
I was in that museum a year ago, in Italy, in the famous David's museum
The standard of male beauty and one of the most significant masterpieces of world art is the work of David by Michelangelo. As more than 500 years ago, it became possible to create something like this, does not fit into the head. This giant, Michelangelo carved from a single piece of marble, which was waiting for the master 40 years. Before he started to work, this piece of marble was twice abandoned by other sculptors because of a crack in the stone. After the creation of David, the great Michelangelo was awarded the title of master and received for his work 900 ducats. By today's standards, this amount has made a 29-year-old sculptor - a millionaire. By the way the great Leonardo da Vinci, so much money has not earned in his entire life.
For more than 500 years, David has experienced much. He lost his gilding, he was bathed before the 500th anniversary, and in 1991, he was injured. Not quite a sane artist, Piero Cannata got to the statue with a hammer and hit him on the finger with a piece.
There is a five-meter statue in the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence and is there the most interesting exhibit
Free entrance for the first Sunday of each month. Otherwise 8 .
Not much of a line. The artwork surrounding the famous piece is quite marvelous also.
It is the only exceptional thing in a museum with a very old - anachronistic setting
A great art experience visiting this place. It was impressive to be in front of this great sculpture with great history, the gallery is amazing, very good organization and distribution of it, the staff very friendly and very attentive at all times. Do not hesitate to visit it !!!
Very very beautiful at the height of Michelangelo Buonarroti
Just see it, and pay the extra for the Skip the lines
Not too crowded in December; you can take your time and enjoy the whole museum!
Absolutely amazing experience here. Paid for the audio tour and it was worth every penny. You get so much more information, not just about David, but of all the art work in the place. Truly worth every penny. It's an experience I'll never forget
The greatest work. It is impressive the realism and the detail in the extreme work of these dimensions. Speechless. Must see
Inexplicable feeling of greatness in this place ... great Michelangelo ... Culture and our history are truly a marvel!
Stunning master piece from Michelangelo, this is the real one and not a replica.
Show what more could you want, wonderful, also excellent position, if I really have to find a fault the guard who controlled the David kept screaming silence, of course people were talking but it was more a buzz than screams so I don't see the reason to scream at the silence. I understand if the volume was high, fully agree in that case.
Spectacular. Although my expectations were quite high because before going on this trip had seen many videos about this statue arriving impacted me a lot of its large size and surrealism. It was worth the 12 entry.
As someone who knows little of art, I wasn't sure what to expect of the gallery and David statue... It surpassed all expectations and it certainly worth taking the time to visit and appreciate the intricacies and history. We bought tickets in advance but it was still a 25 min wait regardless of the time we'd reserved, but it was worth the wait.
The David statue in Piazza della Signoria is a copy that is worth checking out (since that was the original position of the statue), but it pales in comparison to the original which is lit and displayed to accentuate the details perfectly.
Definitely get your tickets before hand, it will save so much time! If you come to Florence you MUST see
A must, in addition to the David there are many more sculptures. Very interesting.
Beautiful and majestic, quiet visit with few people thanks to the scarce presence of foreigners I recommend taking advantage of this moment to visit Florence. You have to book anything because there is a closed number but at least there is no crowd
It is said to be the most beautiful work of art that has ever been conceived and made by man. And it is true. Michelangelo created this masterpiece when he was not yet twenty-four years old, daring to sculpt a block of marble, badly hewn and therefore extremely difficult to work due to its shape and the presence of fragile points. Two illustrious predecessors called to this arduous task had already given up after a first attempt. After two years of work carried out away from prying eyes in what today houses the museum of the cathedral, this imposing sculpture is revealed to the eyes of the Florentines, who are amazed at so much magnificence and perfection. The beauty and ingenuity expressed by this work should be kept in the depths of every Italian and proudly push him to be a worthy heir of Michelangelo's artistic genius.
David is a must see in Florence! Get a reservation, even with a Firenze card, and be on time, but the Prisoners and David, all by Michelangelo, are a treat.
Amazing worth it for the David Statue lots of paintings of biblical scenes
This is a must of you are an art lover. There is usually a line up, I ended up going 1 hour prior to closing and was fortunate enough to make it through. If you are not an art lover, Florence has enough beauty to take in for free. Just embrace the culture and history and you will fall in love. The statue is overrated in my opinion.
The statue of Michelangelo is really impressive and very realistic
Large statue with much detail of a massed type. But it has the head, the hands and the feet disproportionate. Bigfoot cabezon with mittens
Awe inspiring. Get your tickets on-line in advance and save yourself hours of waiting in line!!
There is so much to see in Florence but seeing the David cannot be avoided.
The perfection really ... It is very impressive magnificent ... You can not go and see it ...
Well it is one of the most remarkable pieces of work.. a must see.
Too bad for this sculpture Michelangelo didn't say, 'Parla!'
Os one place you can not miss during your visit to the city, is nice to have a tour guide if you dont make ypur homework and investigated a little before going.
It's worth the wait. The rest of the art is interesting too but obviously the main point of interest is Michelangelo himself. Just be warned you're going to wait in line for a while to see the sculpture but it's worth it.
It's David for crying out loud. If you're nearby and you don't go ... you've made a mistake. There's a recreation, but it really doesn't evoke the same feeling.
Too expensive for the short experience. The copy in the town hall is just as impressive.
He takes away your breath, makes me goose bumps. It could cause addiction.
Impressive, just for this sculpture it is already worth paying the entrance. The Museum is small, but as I say, the sculpture is impressive
After reading some reviews on Google my expectations were higher. Nice place. If you want to skip the line there are an office the other side on the street 16 per person. When we visited the line was as long as the street.
