Duffin Cove Resort Review

We stayed two nights and had a perfect ocean view in room 106, the best excepting maybe the A Frame cottage. The room is compact, newly refurbished and has a wonderful double head shower. The fifth star was deducted due to the "shin buster" bed... it has a thick wood frame extending WELL beyond the mattress all around, there is limited space around it and I was constantly drawing blood on it. The staff all nod knowingly, everyone has the same problem... but it remains... why?? Get it padded or remove it! Everyone was friendly and we were given a reduced rate for staying an extra night as the season gets started. Everything is within walking distance. Do give it a try. Wear hockey pads if you get 106!

Most beautiful place to stay in Tofino. We stayed here pre-renvations and loved it and with the post renovations we won't stay anywhere else. Highly recommend.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Duffin Cove. Upon arriving, we were told our room had been upgraded which meant we got to stay in one of their beautiful A-frame cabins. The view was incredible, the design was lovely and the staff were hospitable and organized. The location is also fantastic as everything in town is within walking distance.

Amazing views, great staff, modern decor, clean and great location. However the walls are paper thin, non stop noise, you can hear people talking, watching tv, taking showers, didn't get to sleep till 1am. Stayed in room 105, Dec 2nd

My partner and I had a fantastic experience at Duffin Cove! It is a great place the stay if you don't have a car in Tofino as it is close to many restaurants and activities. We did a hot springs and kayaking tour and both started less than 5 mins walking from Duffin Cove.

We stayed in the ocean front studio and the room was beautiful. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and we spent about an hour each morning out there. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the smart TV was a huge plus (if you're having a lazy few hours). One of the things I enjoyed the most was the double showerheads!!!! They were installed on opposite walls in the shower and it was probably the best shower I've ever had. The room was emmaculate and the staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

We will definitely be back again and will opt to stay at Duffin Cove whenever we're in Tofino. Thank you Mike and Kim for an unforgettable experience!

My husband and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Tofino and we were very happy to have found a room at this lovely resort. My husband loves coffee and was very excited and happy to wake up to the great aroma and taste of a nespresso beverage. There were pods and a espresso machine in the room. Not only were we pleasantly woken by the amazing coffee but we were mesmerized my the view from the room. The room had a balcony overlooking the water. It was great to sit outside taking in the view and having a hot beverage. The resort staff were friendly and accommodating. My husband and I took the liberty to walk down to the rocks close to the water that was accessed just steps from the resort. The resort is located very close to the town area, this I really liked because we could walk to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. We absolutely loved it . We look forward to staying here the next time we visit Tofino.

Just breathtaking. This is MUCH nicer than a 3-star hotel! The property, rooms, and views are so beautiful. The bathrooms and balconies are dreamy very nice, clean, simple, finishes. The wooden floors and ceilings look and smell amazing. It felt like our own little cabin.

My wife and I were planning on staying at the newly renovated Duffin Cove for the first time in November. A few days before our anticipated arrival date, the BC Provincial Government set new restrictions on non-essential travel due to COVID19. Knowing that we were well out of the cancellation time period, we fully expected to lose our initial deposit of the first nights stay, which was totally acceptable to us. After all, in a pandemic we all lose. We called in to advise Mike and Kim that we would not be coming to Tofino and would need to cancel our 3 night stay. Mike offered us a full refund on our deposit without us ever asking for it. With owners like Mike and Kim, I will be supporting this business and recommending them to our friends and family for years to come. Thank you Mike and Kim for doing your part during the COVID19 crisis! Easy five stars.

Easy location at the edge of town. Simple parking, nice rooms (good small craft touches with the soaps/coffee/teas). Amazing sunset views. Walls a bit thin, slept listening to my neighbor upstairs snore each night, but overall, excellent stay.

The room was close to the waterfront and quiet and relaxing. There was a smart TV in the room with a guest Netflix account; more hotels should have this option instead of having to pay for a single movie.

It is a good place to go... you need to make sure you get the right cottage for better view.

Peaceful.. beautiful view of the cove. Friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Had everything you needed in the room... would definitely stay again.

Not worth the money. Management is greedy and not flexible at all, they gave trouble while trying to change reservation after someone in my family got Covid.

When they could sell my dates for more expensive price because demand was higher, then last minute they offered to cancel but I had already arrived at the hotel after such inconvenience on my part to try to not waste $800 (two nights). That is just in humane.

Modern and well-appointed rooms, and a magnificent view from your terrace: you are almost above the water: a great discovery!

Spent a night in chalet 2a although the accommodations were dated the view was spectacular. I'm told they are updating/renovating summer of 2017.

Well, this request for a review is a bit early since we just arrived yesterday lol. So far, the room is nice, bed is comfy. The noise from our upstairs neighbour is a bit much, but I guess the view makes up for it. The housekeeping took our towels from yesterday but didn't bring any towels back, so, I guess we qir dry tonight? Lol. The manager is super nice, and has an adorable kid. A cat wandered into our room, jumped on the bed and cuddled with me. It was awesome.

Good place but you're paying $350 only for the view. Few problems we noticed at our stay were the windows didnt have a screen cover and they didnt even provide a fan (this was during summer) so lot of mosquito came in. Moreover, the bathroom is super tiny compared to the rest of the place which is odd. Lastly, we like to cook at our own place and noticed there is no exhaust vent on top of the range and they have a mini fridge. Some good things were that they do provide complimentary bikes and beach towels and the tv has lot of apps like netflix and youtube.

Redeveloped into very modern suites with new everything. OMG the view!! Everything is very clean, service is excellent, and lots of food within walking distance. I'm definitely coming back here!!

Beautiful view and fun on the rocks by the sea. Very friendly staff and clean cabin. Could use some updating and renovation in the actual cabin but the grounds are well kept and once again amazing staff. The wood burning fire place is a very nice touch and you have amazing privacy and beach access. Great walking access to the city of tofino's many shops.

Brilliant view. Friendly owner. Comfortable cabins. Clean. Older cabins which have been modernised. Small older bathroom but plenty of room in modern lounge & big comfy modern bed. The updated lighting is great. There's a kitchenette. Only downside is that it's not soundproof to neighbouring rooms & plumbing is noisy. Very short walk to Main Street shops. Overall a very good place to stay.

This was the highlight of our stay in Tofino. Firstly the couple that run this lodge are wonderful, so genuine, accommodating and helpful. We ended up extending our night (for reasons I ll explain) and the gentleman made it such an easy process for us. Now, why we loved it so much we HAD to extend our stay: you fall asleep and wake to the beautiful sound of the waves, you are ON the waters edge. The views are outstanding, you ll want to stay in just so you can watch the sunset. The rooms are beachy, modern and spotless. If you ve been on the road a while, come here. You will have the best sleep of your life on these insanely comfortable beds. Duffin s Cove will be your sweet escape from the bustling town right at your doorstep where it s just you and the ocean. We would stay again and again, thank you Duffin team!

Duffin Cove was the last decent accommodation we could find online for our Tofino trip. When we checked in to our ocean front suite, we knew that we were super lucky to be able to book this place. Our suite was on the second floor with a wonderful ocean view and the interior seemed to be recently renovated - modern and clean. Mike who checked us in was very friendly and helpful on recommending tourist attractions. We will definitely come back again next time we visit Tofino.

Nice place to stay, very friendly staff and amazing views.

Duffin Cove is situated right in the centre of town, mere seconds from all Tofino has to offer and overlooking the ocean. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable leaving guests feeling pampered. That said, there were some inconveniences inside the room (no desk/eating area, tiny mini fridge that is barely usable and not to temp, and cable is pay-per-view which is disappointing due to the price point, as well as key cards malfunctioning and locking me out in the rain after hours). Staff were attentive and easily reachable (even after hours via text) and I would recommend and return here in a heartbeat; but the experience would be superb with some minor attention to the details above.

For the price, that of an upscale comfort hotel, I was disappointed that 1) there were toenail clippings in the corner of the bathroom, showing they likely quickly swept but did not vacuum and sanitize the floors during COVID 2) that the duvet did not have a sheet covering which is really gross (they told us at checkout they were washing these large down/down alternative duvets but we walked by rooms being cleaned and the sheets were stripped and the duvets were left on the bed. 3) there is no air conditioning or fan? It was 24+ degree in the room for our whole stay. Most hotels have these. 4) there are no screens on patio door so we got eaten alive by bugs...again no AC and it was sweltering. The small high up window at the front of the room was covered by a PAPER curtain and the only way to get airflow was to use my hair elastics to tie it up since the little clip they put on it wouldn't stay on.

This hotel needs a lot more work. It looks nice on first glance but it does not have the comforts of other similarly priced hotels in the area.

We had a great stay here, it was awesome to find a place right on the edge of town but also with an amazing view. The hotel was beautifully renovated and comfortable, and within walking distance of all of the restaurants in Tofino. We would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I stayed in room 106 which is nicely renovated. Beautiful views, we woke up to the moon shining through the clouds over the island. Highly recommended.

It was a very nice day and the couple is very nice who run the place. We had a cabin A1 in the bay with amazing view of the sunset, the tide coming in and out, end of the boats coming and going. I recommend this as a nice place to stay.

Cabins were Alright the view was amazing overall I rate this a three because some things need upgrading

No duffin right now. Just a HUGE gaping hole where buildings used to be. They have also blasted into the rock face as well as bulldozing right down to the water. It will be interesting to see how construction moves along

Had a great stay at Duffin Cove. Best location for water views, walk to everything in town within minutes and super friendly staff. Had a great view from our suite. One thing we learned, Tofino is cold! Even in July so bring warm clothes!

It was during a storm and we couldn't drive. We stayed there with no power and didn't see anything until morning. We were surprised at the beautiful view from our room. Beds were a bit hard but worth the stay. They were very accommodating.

Duffin Cove:
So happy to get to write this review as our stay was amazing!!! We would and will be staying at Duffin Cove again. This place is brand new and was designed well. The room is very modern and well thought out. Very comfortable king bed and from it you have a spectacular view of the ocean. My favourite part is the view from the shower as it has a floor to ceiling window with glass frosting in all the needed places to give you privacy. I want to wake up every morning and shower looking out at that view with that amazing shower head. We couldn t be happier with our first three nights of our Honeymoon. The staff who run the hotel also live in their separate unit on the back of the property and they are extremely helpful. Our friend from Vancuver who wanted to do something nice for us on our honeymoon called and asked if she could order us a bottle of Champagne. (I think she assumed this hotel was like a Van hotel and would stock that). The staff walked to the liquor store bought a bottle of bubbly and put it on ice for us and delivered it when we got back to our room. They definitely went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Communication with the hotel staff is done through texting and was smooth and easy. Hotel is also located at a perfect spot in town basically on Main Street and within 25 meters a bakery, Coffee and smoothie shop across the road from the hotel. Walking distance to all restaurants in town. This place is fantastic and you won t regret staying here.

Rooms were great. Well stocked with plates, glasses and utensils. They also have stove tops and microwave if you need to cook anything. (Seafood is to be cooked outside at their barbeques though)

Great place to stay in Tofino! Beautiful views and great hospitality at a well designed property. The rooms have some very nice high-end touches that you will appreciate like heated bathroom floors, large balconies and espresso machines. There are two cabins available as well. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend.

Great location, close to everything. Very walkable. They have bikes to borrow but honestly we walked everywhere because it was so close. Helpful staff. Amazing views of the cove/ocean! Great amenities. A little well loved around the edges inside but cozy, and the walls are a bit thin so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper but nothing unmanageable. Would stay again. Very insta worthy and very cozy. Felt like home!

For $380 the room itself was not worth that price. Old, and not fully clean. The window was broken. Loud for a bottom floor suite

Nice enough place, but we were awake listening to drunk people partying until 3am for two nights in a row. Really put a damper on our otherwise peaceful Tofino weekend. Left exhausted... Would not stay here again.

Wonderful and very relaxing. Spent an extra day as it was so pleasant sitting outdoors with a drink in hand and admiring the view.

We stayed in one of the bay view studios and were treated to a newly decorated room and spectacular views. Sure, it s not on a beach like a lot of places are in Tofino, but it s superbly located right in town and everything is just a short walk away. Not something you ll get from a beach side stay.

The room itself was nicely finished. Our only feedback would be that the bed was rather too soft for our tastes, but that s a personal preference of people with bad backs rather than a criticism.

Our hosts were very helpful in offering local tips and advice and helped us book our sunset and bear watching boat tours. Thanks for a super stay.

This hotel is gorgeous! Perfectly situated by some of the best views and best eats in Tofino! Friendly staff with excellent service. The beds were very comfortable and they put a lot of thought into the decor and elements in the rooms. Love that they stock Carina Organics and have the steam shower option (my fave at home). Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again!
