This high end diner is accessed via a smooth gloss lift and is the highest point in the Salesforce building near Liverpool Street.
Duck and waffle is open to the very early hours and great for a late night bite or cocktails.
The views are incredible. The food is delicious. Try the duck and waffle, the arancini, the salt beef sandwich, but the best dish was the Colombian egg dish!
Cocktails and mocktails are expertly put together.

The food is certainly very nice, but I wasn't totally blown away, especially for the price. Likewise, the service was very polite and efficient, but came across as rushed.
Make sure to reserve months in advance if you want to get a spot, and do bear their dress code in mind.
We came in the worst weather possible, it was foggy so we cannot see a thing. But, food and service was good. It s not mind shattering food, but it was good. The reason for the lost star is because the table was so tight. We had reservation for 8 ppl and the table barely fit us all. It s hard to eat arm to arm. But it was a really nice experience in London.
The views are stunning. Really nice environment with great service. But the food is not excellent. We tried lots of different dishes and none of them were really appealing nor very tasty. I was expecting something more distinguished and flavourful. Nice spot for drinks and a view though.
My family and I came here at the last minute late into the night after seeing a play. We thought "why not? It sounds like it will be expensive, but it'll be worth it." The elevator ride up to the top floor was quick and beautiful, as well as the view from the restaurant. We came in at around 2:30-3:00 so we had the opportunity of seeing the sunrise over the city. We were seated almost immediately and served drinks within the first ten minutes. We never had one single waiter for our table, all of the waiters were hands on, checking and cleaning our table for the tiniest spec, switching out our utensils after appetizers for clean ones, always checking if we need refills, condiments, or anything else. Our food came very quickly and was so delicious, and to top it all off, it was a very reasonable price. Much less expensive than we anticipated. Our experience was fantastic with above and beyind service, I highly recommend anyone who's in the area to check it out. I'll definitely be returning here if I find myself in London in the future.
Duck and waffle 5star customer service 5star starters we had beef tarte 1star hake 2star view 5star so avoid starters have the duck and waffle very tender inside and crisp outside.
Worst dining experience ever. Unbearably hot temperature in restaurant, sommelier poured our wine in to a water glass, mains took more than an hour to arrive, poor non-attentive service. And worst of all no one seemed to care.....
Such a wonderful place to go .The food is wonderful. The staff are so warm , helpful and friendly !The little touches like filling your glass with water .The smiles .We love coming here and keep coming back
Exclusive and currently trendy location. Special breakfasts, excellent service, only flaw, the limitation of the stay on site and the volume of the music a little too high. Prices appropriate to the venue.
Since the time I heard about this place, I finally went there on my last getaway to London. You have to book well in advance to have a "normal" schedule otherwise you have to try at less conventional hours, it's open 24 hours a day !!! We ate breakfast there at 7am. The first time I eat with such a view in London at night, it's magic. The staff are very attentive to customers and I ate a duck leg confit with a waffle (as the name suggests!) It was excellent! Well, it is true that it is not given but it is London and the framework is paid!
The price is really reasonable. Service is really sweet! We told the waiter we came here to celebrate Chinese New Year and he gave us a cup cake to celebrate. A good sky view place.
Very nice restaurant located in 40th floor. The view is amazing. The breakfast was so delicious. You must have a booking before you go. You should plan it in advance as is very difficult to fine reservations as it always full.
Tip top place for brunch (you MUST try a confit duck dish, we had the duck and waffle and confit duck congee) and brilliant cocktails, with a priceless view! Try to come in early so you can enjoy the views with an aperitif whilst waiting for your table.
Went here for brunch, I would say not many options for halal or vegetarian. Still liked the views and ambience. It is a 24 hour restaurant- may visit late one day. The sweet waffle was amazing especially The Elvis was spot on. I highly recommend the sweet waffle over the savoury selection. Service was slightly all over the place. Really had to ask for plates and cutlery as we chose some sharing plates. Overall I will revisit here. It's on the 40th floor in the sushi samba building near liverpool street.
it was ok i think the highlights was the view and great place to spend time with your friends and family they're trying to be a bit too fancy but it a bit over price for the food that was ok
*the corn was amazing, love it *the waffle was too hard and too chewy but the topping was great *the duck tastes great but it was average the skin was too chewy #the sea food was ok
An exhilarating glass elevator ride up 40 floors" delivers you to Heron Tower's all-day, all-night British diner, which is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling
I will start with the view which is not amazing. The restaurant is on the 40th floor of a tall building, so yes, you can see London from above. Can you see famous London landmarks? No, because it is not situated in good position. Also, More
Service mixed. Some of staff dont understand English well. Orders mislaid. As for the centrepiece 'Duck and Waffle ' which is quite a dry piece of duck put in a dry waffle with a fried egg on top and a side if maple syrup - Just no! It doesn't work as a dish and has no 'love' about it.
I had the Duck and Waffle special dish and it was disappointing. Nothing special , it is basically Fried Duck, Waffell and maple syrup , fried egg. the environment is like a pub , not fine dining. sadly unable to enjoy the view due too crowded.
Great view of london. Inventively tasty, lots of savoury and sweet combinations ( including duck and waffle ). Reservations are recommended, and if full bar food is not bad. My favourite there is bacon wrapped dates.
Very good view and the elevator ride up is always fun. The breads and duck and waffle are mind blowing and we keep going back there for them. Wine selection is also good.
By far one of my favorite places in London. With an amazing cocktail bar as you walk in, the other half is a restaurant, which resembles a high end diner in the best way possible! It's hard to get anything besides the duck and waffle or anything duck! Great service, better food!
Very average steak and the duck and waffle signature dish was a let down. They forgot part of our order which they gave us for free but overall disappointing experience. Glasses also smelled really bad. Would not return.
Food was tasty, especially the duck and waffle. However the fondant dessert wasn't that nice and portion sizes are quite small for the price. Amazing view of the city though!
On the 40th floor of Heron Tower Duck & Waffle offers stunning views across London, all the way up to Wembley and down to docklands. The food at breakfast was excellent with great flavours and creative touches, certainly a meal you'll remember. There's a separate bar area if you just want a drink and it has a cloakroom. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment as it gets very busy.
Strolled into Duck & Waffle on a Thursday morning. We walked off the lift and followed the corridor round, past the toilets and round into the bar area... The bar area was quaint with the decor and had steps leading down to Sushi Samba. Although the place was fully booked, the receptionist was able to squeeze us (2) in. [Advance booking >48hrs min recommended]. We had The English Breakfast and it'd have been rude not to have the Duck and Waffle. The breakfast had good quality ingredients and it was interesting to note that the kitchen (which was open planned so diners could see the chefs cooking the food) had the food sources displayed prominently on chalkboards.
The bonus point of dining here were the views. On the 40th floor up with floor to ceiling windows just made the day more than just a breakfast and turned it into a occasion.
Disgusting, rude, self important establishment - where you don t even get to eat.
We made a reservation online and received a confirmation email. A 13hr flight and a 20 minute cab ride later, we were stopped by a rude employee at the door, and that s when we found out that we were not on the list. We checked our email to realise that they email us a day before our reservation to inform us that our reservation has been released. Needless to say, we didn t receive any calls, texts or emails before today looking to confirm our confirmed reservation.
When we asked the employee why it got released, he suggested we EMAIL to ask. I suggested I would go upstairs to talk to the person in charge myself. He claims that it s impossible and gave a call on my behalf asking if there were any empty seats - there wasn t.
At which point we were sure we did not want to dine at such a disgusting, rude, self important establishment, and we left.
Actually quite a difficult place to review. For quality food after midnight in London choices are somewhat limited, and the Duck & Waffle stands out in this sector. The location is pretty central and accessible, which is good, and the place itself has a nice aesthetic, in a modern party-crowd kind of way. Problem is that both the food and the service were variable. On the service, we were served by multiple staff in our stay, which wouldn't be a problem except several orders were missed, and the welcome and attention felt erratic. The food was good without being great. The breads were all nice (pretty substantial too), the olives not so much (and a tiny serving). The Lamb one of our party ate was good, but the only available vegetarian main was mushroom ravioli, which was completely overpowered by truffle. The cocktails were OK, but we were served from three different menus during the evening, and we literally were not able to order the same cocktail twice. Maybe that's their thing but we didn't appreciate it. Overall I liked the place, but I have a feeling that the variability comes built-in and that makes it difficult to recommend.
Great food and coffee. The view is pretty spectacular. Would I go again? Probably not, you have to book so far in advance it is enough to put you off...
The view - we went at night and it was spectacular.
The food - it was great and reasonably priced. We had the classic duck and waffle and another small dish with some wines. A lot of things were out of stock but I guess it was near midnight. However, we did think it was missing an extra 'oomph'.
The service- was nice . We were late by quite a lot and they managed to squeeze us in. However, bookings are certainly essential.
I would certainly come again, especially for a late meal with drinks.
Firstly I love the fact it s 24 hour. Apart from the Brick Lane biegel this is of course a more upmarket place to spend those insomniac hours at night. This place in the Heron Tower house Duck and Waffle and also downstairs is the Sushi Samba (38th floor) and its fab cocktail bar. Duck and Waffle is on the 40th floor right at the top! The elevator is an experience in itself that you can do for free and wonder at the glass view over London.
What I ordered at Duck & Waffle: - The duck and waffle crispy leg confit, fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup. Sounds weird tastes great. A must try if going. - Crispy pigs ears. Comes in a cute bag to pick at. - Torrejas caramel with apples and cinnamon ice cream dessert. One of the best most decadent sweet desserts I have ever had.
Second time I went I went for brunch and had: - Mushroom, egg truffle with soldiers that you could dip. Quite honestly it was out of this world. - Had the Torrejas again and it was just as good. Food coma-esque.
As I said the view is spectacular, the atmosphere buzzing and the food ultimately outstanding. I will be back again very soon.
Went for a special xmas night out on a table for 2. Out table was 40 mins late in being available. No bread offered. 2 of the dishes we tried to order werent available at only 8pm. Starters came very quickly and then mains before we d even finished eating our starters with no apology, just dumped on the table. Told waiter our side dish of squash wasn t cooked. No apology. Great view but bad service
Racist door staff - Refused entry on 20th August by door staff for being 'unsteady on my feet'. As rather inebriated people were being let in as we waited 20 minutes for the manager, it is clear that alcohol was not the real reason, the main difference between us and others being let in being that we were mixed race. Bouncers were clearly lying to cover their own backs after a while, and the manager was clearly intimidated by them so wouldn't disagree with them but actually offered to let us up, so he clearly thought they were wrong! We obviously refused to go in and bouncers and manager refused to give full names or details for a complaint. Anyway a complaint has been lodged with the SIA, City of London Licensing Authority, and the police for racially discriminatory behaviour. Finally found an email address to write to the firm itself here but no response after 2 weeks. What an awful place.
Amazing views, very accomodating considering we didn't have a booking, poached eggs were overdone hence only 4 stars. Got the full breakfast which was nice, but rather dry as there were no baked beans.
We were at Waffle for a birthday dinner and ordered a few lamb dishes and they were pure bliss. The staff was very helpful and the doorman was especially kind.
Bad service, can t help but feel a bit discriminated so definitely not a recommended place for BAME people, asked for the bills 3 times and they made us wait 20 mins just for the bills to come. The waiter/waitresses ignored us when we raised our hand for help (they saw us but just walked past by). And last but not least, found hair in our food which is common but still, they should ve checked before serving. The food is okay 6/10.
The taste of the signature Duck and Waffle is very normal. The egg, the duck and the waffle don't match at all. If I have to comment separately, the egg is running so it's ok. The duck is a bit dry. The waffle is just waffle. But this dish is priced at GBP18! I could have so many other choices for this cost.
I ordered a drink called Tropical Sonic, which is GBP14, but it comes in a slim tall glass with so much ice inside that it is finished in about 3 small sips!
We also ordered chicken and bread so we ended up paying GBP93.
The 2 stars I gave is for the view. After all, it's located on the 40th floor. But the view and the food are just not impressive enough for a second visit in the future.
Great views and nice atmosphere. The open kitchen feel made the restaurant feel busy but not noisy enough to prove distracting for conversations. Food is good especially the duck and waffle. Though note that portions are small for the duck and waffle. Picture below is for the English breakfast equivalent. Note that discretionary service charge is 13.5% though service was great as they accomodated my request for a table closer to the window. Book in advance
What a heck, my friends! The location is sensational. You are taken to the fiftieth floor by a transparent elevator and when you arrive you are faced with a wonderful bar with other sensational views. The dining room is very modern and cozy too, letting you enjoy another view of London. The staff was very attentive and made me feel very welcome. The food and drinks are a show apart. We tried many things on the menu and still got a complimentary bread from the chef (s2). The honorable mentions for the Pig's Ear, Rib-eye and Chocolate Foundant are worth it. Definitely worth it! Only goes!
Cast your mind back to your teenage years. Your parents are late and have left you to make your own dinner. What ends up on the plate is a mixture of chicken, chocolate, crisps and maple syrup. Now think of a more adult version of this. How much you enjoy Duck & Waffle very much depends on how much you've grown up. Given D&W sits in the middle of the City, it seems somewhat appropriate.
In a way, it's a strange dichotomy. Food that positions itself as grown up and sophisticated but catering to the big kid with a sweet tooth, in one of the most stunning locations in London. Sipping cocktails 40 floors up is quite an experience. So is the food, although not quite in the same way.
There's no faulting the decor or the service though. From the glass lift ride (that will soon show up anyone with a fear of heights) through to the bar, it's sheer elegance and the views from the top of Heron Tower are breathtaking. Sure, you could pay to go up the Shard, but will they also serve you a cocktails that involves setting fire to a piece of whiskey soaked oak on your table? I think not. And the staff have been trained to perfection - friendly without being too overly familiar. There's an excellent customer service ethos that others would do well to follow.
If this were just a fancy cocktail bar with food, it may edge to five stars. But it's not. It's a restaurant. And one with decidedly mixed food. The menu is a marriage of sweet and savoury. Foie gras creme brulee, the signature duck and waffle. You get the idea. Chef Daniel Doherty clearly has a sweet tooth. Sadly, mine palate is a little more bitter I fear.
Many have raved about Duck and Waffle, but what I tasted was an interesting mashup of flavours that may have sounded fun of paper but I'm not entirely convinced work in execution. The spicy ox cheek doughnut, to take one example, was not spicy but was cloyingly sweet, unsure if it wanted to be a punchy meaty dish or a clever savoury desert and ending up somewhere in the middle.
And I'll confess, the duck and waffle itself, which so many have raved about, never hit the high notes together. On first bite, the combination of confit duck leg, fried egg, waffle and a barely-detectable mustardy maple syrup surprised and delighted. By the fifth bite, it was becoming heavy going. By the end, my mouth was a little oily and my stomach heavy. Of the three of us who ordered the dish, one polished it off as if he'd hardly eaten for a week. The other two of us were still trying to work out if we enjoyed it by the time we reached Liverpool Street station.
In fairness, as this is a 24 hour restaurant, I can see this working as a decadent brunch or a posh late night munchie (or perhaps they should just sell bags of their pigs ears at the door). But for a main meal, you may be better over choosing some of the more conservative fish options.
Terrific service! We planned to order wine so we didn t want to order still water and the waiter rolled his eyes at us. Food was average. View wasn t great at night. Recommend going during the day or almost sunset. Would not go back because of the service.
This is a nice place, the Service is amazing and the view is stunning but the menu is very restricted to meat. Theres Not much to choose from when you chose to avoid it. It says that if you need something special to match your diet to ask the staff but that is not really the same and most will probably be hesitant to do so.
How is a restaurant that's open 24 hours, closed. This place was closed when I visited, such a huge disappointment for a restaurant that advertises itself as being open all the time.
