I had an emergency appendectomy and Dr. Kennard was warm, professional, and kind. I instantly felt confident in him. He removed my appendix w no issues and healing was a breeze. Thank you for being a bright spot in a scary time for me. Update: I called the office to ask a question, and Dr. Kennard CAME TO THE PHONE to speak to me. Unheard of these days.

Dr. Kennard performed surgery on me to repair damage done to my colon when I had diverticulitis. Although his bedside manner may not be warm and fuzzy, his surgery skills are excellent. He has a very good reputation with other Doctors and the Operating Room nurses and staff all assured me I was in good hands.
Prior to my surgery, working with Dr. Kennard's office staff was great. They were always available and very helpful getting the insurance pre-certification in place as well as appointments with other Drs who were involved in my care.
On the day of the surgery, Dr. Kennard was in his element and things went so smoothly. He visited me every day I was in the hospital.
I was referred to Dr. Kennard by a friend to treat my varicose vain. The Dr was very attentive and professional. He asked what my goal was with my visit, went over my health history and then answered all my questions. I had some treatment done and on my follow up visits they always made me feel comfortable and made sure I was very well taking care of. I have referred him to other friends as well, and they all have had the same experience. I highly recommend him. He is great!
I was referred by another doctor to Dr. Kennard for what I thought was a hernia in the groin. It was very painful but I got to see the doctor the following day, which I thought was great. The office staff was very nice but once I meet the doctor, I was being rushed by him the whole time after. I filled out the all of the paperwork for past medical history and current prescription meds that I was taking but the doctor did not want to view the paperwork, although it was right next to him and I told him I didn't remember off the top of my head. He asked me why I had had a certain operation so explained to him why but about 15 seconds, he interrupted me and said "those facts were not necessary for what you have come to see me"... (my thought was then why ask me?). He asked what doctor did prior back surgery and again I had to think for a few seconds....he moved on and I remembered the name so I told him "it's Dr. John from McKinney". He then said "I don't need that information...that's just wasting my time". Again, then why ask me in the first place! At this point, I wanted to walk out because of the way he would talk to me. After putting his hands on me for less than 10 seconds, he then told me that I would have to see another doctor because he didn't know what it was. Again, I felt hurried up because he had something else to do. I put my clothes on and go check out. Then the fine doctor starts to berate the head admin right in front in me! He then chastises another employee, sitting behind a glass partition, for not knowing codes that he asked her for...again right in front of me! How unprofessional!!! My understanding is that she does the billing part for him....still that is no reason to talk down to your employees in front of patients or anyone!! I truly felt bad for their office staff, they handled it all without pouting or saying a smart remark (his snarky responses to them should have deserved something back to him) and THEY handled it with great professionalism (they probably needed their jobs, as many of us do, and were just keeping their mouths shut). Sure enough, while I'm paying and getting the invoice, he tells the staff that he is leaving. I don't want to have anything to do with the likes of that kind of care! BTW-I see the other doctor the same day and he finds I have an abscess. He spent to time to explain and treat me as a person and not just a name. Something Dr. Kennard has forgotten in his years of practice.
Do not deal with this office, not sure about dr Kennard yet, but staff are the worst, they wait till the day before your procedure to get you authorized from the insurance, you take days of work for your procedure and you are up in the air waiting for them to accept your claim, mean time they postpone your procedure , and guess what your off days of work are wasted. Jackie is the one working my case, and she s unprofessional, late on sending claims, won t pick up the phone and hangs up on you upon questioning their horrible system. I just found out my procedure is canceled by calling the surgery center, they don t even bother calling you to give you updates. Run , don t go .
I had a good experience with Dr.Kennard. He is to the point in his bedside manner which in my experience speaks to effectiveness as a surgeon . I am an Emergency Room RN and paramedic of many years , so I am picky who I let work on me . I had unbearable pain from a hernia and tear in my groin region that was missed by several doctors and studies , "MRI , CT etc. Dr Kennard took the time to listen to the patient "me" telling him I know my body something is wrong. I could feel the tear . Outcome Dr .Kennard did a laparoscopic repair finally relief from the pain. I might add his office staff is great , sweat and very accommodating .
Dr kennard is a horrible person and Doctor. I went into ER with my husband and he was diagnosed with appendicitis and didn't operate until almost 24 hours later. Long story short, his appendix burst, and Dr Kennard made the mistake of clipping my husbands uritor. DO NOT GO to this doctor!
Dr Kennard came highly recommended as a very skilled an experienced surgeon by two long-time physicians of my mother's (her GI and family practicioner). He did a very large (type 3) hiatal hernia repair and a gall bladder removal. After the surgery, he came out and showed detailed color pictures to the family, explaining what he had done and why it was necessary. He was extremely thorough and did a very high-quality repair from all accounts. Now, 2 months post surgery, my mom is doing great. She was very thankful to have Dr. Kennard help her and so were all of us in the family. He's a to-the-point kind of communicator, but I like precision, focus, and skill in a surgeon, and knowing this is who her other doctors would use made me even happier. He has also been very thorough in post-operative follow-ups, and she has her last one in April of this year. I highly recommend Dr. Kennard.
The doctor knows his stuff, but horrible bedside manner. If you're looking for a doctor that is warm and shows compassion, look elsewhere. If you need somebody who will get you taken care of, he's your guy.
Dr Kinnard was one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate surgeons I have ever had the good fortune to met under the worst circumstances, an emergency surgery. He kept us informed of every test and procedure. As far as I am concerned, he needs at least a dozen stars. All information was given in terms that my family and I could understand. There should be more like him. Many thanks, Dr K
Dr. Kennard operated on my husband 2010, which is why i chose him for my surgery, which was yesterday. The facility, Surgery center of Plano, was impressive as well. My experience, thus far, has been stellar with Dr. Kennard. I highly reccommend him. However is you are looking for entertainment over a highly qualified surgeon, you will not appreciate him. He told me he would take care of me, which is exactly what he did. I have a prescription for pain meds which i have not had to use, i have had zero pain so far. Yes, i highly reccommend Dr. Kennard and Surgery Center of Plano.
Professional and courteous office staff. Easy to get an appointment and Dr. Kennard did an exceptional job, left minimal scarring and was able to answer any questions I had and put me at ease with my concerns.
