There's not a bad seat in the house. This is my favorite intimate theater in Washington, D.C.

Very fun venue. And I love that you can pre-order drinks for pickup at intermission!

Went there for my birthday. Had a great time! RBG was in the house! Couldn't have had a better time for my bday.

Intimate stage/theater set up with unique productions

I haven't been to a show here, but I did attend a company meeting in the auditorium. As a venue, it's GREAT! It's in downtown DC close to the National Mall and the space itself is modern. They have enough restrooms, a cafe, and the auditorium seats several hundred. Despite the size, the auditorium feels more intimate with a small stage in the front.

Easily one of the most unique theaters anywhere. We saw the play Fairview and were blown away.

I have seen several of the best plays in my life at Woolly, and even the "worst" were never bad. Woolly also has amazing under 30 pricing. It allowed my partner and I to have fancy dates even when we were dead broke, and I very much appreciate that.

Always a great place to see original theatre. Shows themselves can be hit or miss as with any form of entertainment. But the theatre itself is great, acoustic-wise, lighting-wise, etc. Thrust stage, box seating in the balcony, and great lobby area. Great staff, reasonable $$. For a small theatre they are in my top 10. Recently went there for a NYE show and event. Had a great time.

This theater is awesome! Woolly Mammoth productions are always top notch, provocative and leave you wanting more. They offer pay what you can events that make theater affordable to all. The venue itself is intimate and comfortable. Every seat is a great seat.

The atmosphere was lovely. I especially loved the layout of the theater, which was intimate and cozy. The performance put on by the Second City crew was phenomenal. I had a lovely time there. I would recommend this place to all.

Great location in DC, very intimate theater. Loved the seating (tho a bit cramped upstairs) and no bad seats in the entire place. The acoustics qere great, good sound system. Bathrooms in a great location, wheelchair accessible. there are parking garages near, and the venue offers validation. Street parking is free on the weekend (but be sure to read those very confusing DC parking signs). There is a snack/concession stand, and the lobby is pretty comfy. Would definitely visit again.

Been a subscriber for years! Always great performances --- personal and edgy at times. If you want to explore current social issues or consider points of view different from your own, you will not be disappointed. If you prefer fluff and stuff, like Annie, this might not be for you, but give it a try. Always interactive exhibits in the house which tie to the play, again to get you thinking. Also there are after play discussions on some performances with the creative staff. Do go!!

Woolly is the best. This innovative theater's mission is theater development. Kind of the D.C. version of off-Broadway. All of the shows here are interesting or have something to say. Some shows need a little more adjustment, but it's always entertaining and usually thought-provoking.

2nd City's Nothing to Lose but Our Chains and Blackside of the Moon were excellent. Theater promotes edgy performances

It was a really cozy venue. The adult beverages were decently priced and the show (Blks) was phenomenal. It was a perfect outing for our Valentine's Day Date Night.

Love this theater for their productions, often edgy and provocative, willing to take risks. Not a bad seat in the house.

Great event space though can get a bit crammed for higher capacity events due to the layout. Pretty terrible cell reception. Good location.

The modern-industrial style venue is made warm and welcoming by the great staff. I've been to two shows here, both of which were eye-opening. Keep up the great work!

Saw She the People, which was way less edgy than most fare at this venue. All the seats are close in this small theatre. But sometimes the shows are more avant garde than I prefer.

Weird and incredible. Definitely check out the pay what you can showings if you have never been. Gives you a good taste of the strange.

Putting on provocative plays in intimate settings, the Woolly Mammoth Theatre never ceases to entertain and cause one to think or laugh or cry or all three in the same evening.

Good young talent trying to break through to stardom

I love everything about Woolly. It is a socially aware theater. Simple theater seating but absolutely glorious and intricate theater productions. Staff is so friendly and accommodating and they allow drinks in the theater and sell small snacks and the snack bar. Also tickets are very reasonably priced. If you have a chance to go to Woolly mammoth theater company please do!

Beautiful, small and intimate theater. Surprisingly there was leg room and the seats were pretty comfortable. Plenty of room in the lounge areas. Decently priced snack bar. Friendly staff.

Great theatre venue in downtown DC. Each play has an associated art exhibit that ties into the themes and the plays are imaginative and fun. Good prices as well, the 6-pack of tickets is a great deal for a couple to see 3 plays.

The actors & actresses were wonderful! The theatre provided an intimate setting with excellent seats.

I had a chance to see damned-if-you-do while visiting DC and absolutely loved it. I got the tickets on a whim just for something to do it turned out to be a really interesting improv show where are the performers act out an audience member's future after asking the person a few questions about their past and present. The audience member they selected had a particularly interesting life and personality which made for a hilarious show.

This theatre is right off of Constitutional Ave. And has great performances. The stage is a thrust style stage which feels like you are right in the action with such a small theatre. It's in a great area with lots of restaurant options near by.

Hip, cool theatre, great modern space and shows, and their work is always a surprise! Great spot to bring friends or a date, but their shows are a bit risque, so probably not the place to bring Mom... Unless she's a cool mom.

Only fantastic shows. Decent drink selection with fair prices -- $5 craft beers and $3 PBR tall boys at a quality performance venue in DC is about as good as it gets!

Amazing performances everytime I attend. Go see BLKs!! I've now gone 2 weeks in a row and have really enjoyed their community events surrounding the work of this show. I'll be getting a group together to go and see their upcoming show. Also, I Really enjoyed the concession stand and appreciate all the Wooly Mammoth staff, directors, features, performers and all of those involved for their continued outstanding work!!

Really cool space. They have a small cafe inside and some tables. The theater itself is small so even the cheap seats are very good. They do very good work here

Can have some truly interesting performances that explore ignorant social issues. And they are entertaining to watch!

If you have tickets for Shipwreck do yourself a favor and gift them to someone you don't like. This play should be renamed Trainwreck. Therrible script with numerous threads that never come together but just end up in a jumbled heap after over 3 hours.

Brilliant experience, went to the women's match yesterday and the staff at woolly mammoth were very supportive, friendly and encouraging to the marchers. Also provided access to a SPOTLESS bathroom, charging access for phones and also water/coffee. World needs more places like this.

Every show I've been to has consisted of great staff, great performers, great shows. In an easy-to-reach location near Archives Metro Station, a short walk from plenty of tourist destinations, and amidst the 7th Street corridor's plethora of dining options.

My absolute favorite theatre in Washington, DC! Comfortable seating. And the BEST shows; each a mix of politics, deep thought, art, and empowerment. Concessions with alcoholic beverages available. Great for a date!

Awesome theater went see the play FAMILIAR and it was a great experience. The staff and ushers were great and the theater it's self was beautiful. Lots of parking options close by, so it parking parking a breeze, there are also a ton of restaurants around the theater.

Woolly Mammoth is fabulous venue with comfortable seating, provocative performance, and amazing staff. I'm looking forward to visiting again. It's my kinda theater.

Very nice venue. There isn't a bad seat in the theatre. No eating in the theatre but you can drink. The vending prices are fairly reasonable for the location.

I love this theatre although I can't say I go frequently or see all the plays there. But, whenever I do go, I am never disappointed. I recently saw "Octoroon" there. This is just the kind of play you expect to see here - a little controversial, thought provoking and yet highly entertaining. Let me digress and give a brief review of the play. Pay attention to the opening scene and the speech by the character, at this point, portraying the playwright for this play-within-a-play, which is the remake of an 1859 play by an Irish man. In the Octoroon he plays multiple characters as do others who play unlikely roles, like the white man who plays the playwright s assistant then dons black make-up and the most awful wig to play 2 different slaves. No doubt the white man in black-face made many uncomfortable as almost the entire row in front of me did not return after intermission; but a play is not just to entertain; indeed, the purpose of many plays is to educate the audience; make the audience think; and appreciate the plight of others by making characters come alive. So, to me, making white people uncomfortable and Black people angry about the injustice of slavery are not bad things; but necessary if we are to bring about change in our society by opening our eyes and firing us up. I thought this was an excellent play and all the actors and actresses were great! I just might see it again, and I strongly urge you to see before it leaves. Maybe, this time when it leaves the Wooly Mammoth Theatre, it will be headed for Broadway.

Nice, smallish theatre with some interesting shows. Bathrooms are well taken care of, and there is a bar for those of us who drink. I like the independent theatre vibe that this place has, and I've seen some pretty good shows here. I will gladly visit again.
