Always loved Ithaca Commons, now cleaned up and more inviting!

Great local shops and restaurants. People are friendly.

Google has this listed as a shopping mall.. Not what I'd call it: it's more of an outdoor downtown meeting and recreation area (complete with a small child playground and misc art displays) where cars don't invade pedestrian walkways and there are shops, if you choose to indulge.

The area was great and I like the selection of stores.

Downtown Ithaca is a place every upstate NY resident should visit.

Went to Apple Harvest Festival. Very well coordinated with many activities. Lots of fun with thousands attending

The bustling market place with some of the best restaurants in Ithaca and most open events in town take place here

Where you can feel the uniqueness of the university

Fun to walk around and see all the stores and try the restaurants.

Its a pretty nice place. Lots of small boutiques in a very niche market. Nothing like a target or a forever 21. More like herbal remedies, second hand clothing shops, paperie etc.

Interesting little shops cool place to visit reminds me of some of the old Street shops in NYC

Most shops are closed. Commons area is kinda dirty... lots of cigarette buds in ground etc. Some shops have great customer service others are very rude. A very mixed place

Really nice closed off shopping center. Walkways were very clean

If you want to experience transcendence, this might be a good place to start.

Beautiful downtown public space and it is not a park. Surrounded by many restaurants and it is in the middle of town Ithaca. Go see it for yourself.

Great outdoor, open air pedestrian mall. Just recently completely redone. Great shops housed in historical buildings

Little to do here but there is a $1 book store with great books.Was there to catch the 15 to Wegmans. Long wait though with the 1 hour wait times. Must be miserable during the winter. One needs a car in Ithaca for sure

Very expensive for used goods, alot of panhandlers, homeless people.

Love my American Crafts store it's my favorite, but missing the stores that left because of the construction that took too long.

I believe that the place is suppose to be a tourist attraction

The apple festival was an excellent experience. We will be back next year!

It is a pleasant cultural space, with shops and restaurants has chairs so that people who walk can rest or even finish some task while having a coffee, all this in the open air.

Beautifully modern courtyard with plenty of entertainment for kids and an excellent ethiopean restaurant.

Alot better shopping now that all the construction is finished! Love the specialty shops!

Wonderful resource in the center of town with great restaurants and stores.

So many different shops in the Commons. I absolutely love this placs, especially since they have completed construction.

Pretty busy and positive atmosphere lots of herbal oriented shops and craft like stores also some great food

There are interesting shops and eateries. Support local visit. This is worth a visit.

Nice small town area for shopping and an assortment of casual to classy places to grab a good meal. The weekend I was there the Seneca St garage had free parking which made it so easy to park and enjoy the shops and food. There's also a playground in the center of the Commons. Recommended for casual shopping and tasty meals.

Come experience the cultivated, cultured center of Ithaca. Like a fine Kombucha, it is to be drunk with fervor and desire. This is the seat of amazing startups and community-building enterprise. Go! Be joyous! Be Gorges!

Great place. Full with intelligent and decent personalities who knows what they are doing and willing to give you all the necessary assistance.

The most common space in Ithaca, when you think about it. Such commons, very public, wow.

Its a terrific place during the mornings and afternoons, its not that friendly at night. A substatnial number of weird people congregate around the Commons and are very confrontative and aggressive

Very boring college town. Probably would never go back unless it was a work trip.

Very good for festivals. Sad to renovate a place that should be family friendly but is often full of panhandlers and derelicts. Local policies aren't helping the merchants. How many more head shops do we need?

The Commons is a nice area to walk around, get food or a drink, and hang out.

At the time the commons seemed to be going through construction, 1/4 of the common area seemed closed. There were a few good places to grab food and drink at the end of the block. Seemed it would be a nice place to take your kids.

Nice looking open space with a variety of shops, plenty to eat and drink, and Cinemapolis.

Very nice place to walk around and hang out but some of the places inside look horrible and prices are expencive.

Fairly nice outdoor mall with some destruction going on and so.e vacant stores here and there. Fairly random collection of shops.

Never seen so many varieties in one location. Down here for the chowder fest. Nice job on the festival.

This is the hot bed of activity in downtown Ithaca. I liked it here they had a lot of cool shops and there are a whole bunch of places that you can eat at. If for some reason you don't make it to Cornell or Ithaca college and you want to get some souvenirs, make sure you find the official Cornell bookstore as there is another one that is kind of a knock off. We went on a weekend and the parking was no charge in the garage. Parking garage is about a two or three minute walk from center square. There is enough here in the commons to keep you busy for the day

Great spot to walk around. Lots of great little shops, bars, and restaurants.

This place is delightful. Lots of shopping. And the commons is a really nice place to walk around, shop, and get a bite to eat.

Many stores and lots of food choices. No smoking in the Commons so that could be a plus or a minus for you.

To many druggies and what's with the dude trying to give me a CD? If you must go there keep your head down and don't make eye contact

Good spot to get a shot or some "B roll" of a hippie looking at Lucy in the sky or a spaceship or something.

You kick a man off the commons who is a veteran and who has been selling hot dogs on the commons for over 25 year for feeding a dog! But heroin addict bums smoke cigarettes next to a playground and begging for change are fine.

A cute little downtown vibe with restaurants and shops.

I've been going there since I was like 4 and it's quite a cool place to go see

The cold black heart of a dying pedestrian mall that is slowly being strangled by the local acid casualties' fear of automobiles. Ithaca has done everything possible to prevent access to downtown by car including overpriced parking that requires finding an pay station far from your car, speed bumps every few feet, and eliminating parking near any destination. And they wonder why nobody shops there.

Which is actually not a problem, as there's nothing to BUY downtown unless you are in the market for an overpriced bong. Do yourself a favor and go to Lansing where parking is plentiful and prices reasonable. Let the hippies live in their concrete canyons that blot out the sky... God knows we need more hotels around here.
