Dover Harbour Board Review

A nice shingle beach with clear water . When we were on the beach there were lots of people swimming. There's a good view of the ferry's and the cruise ship Disney Magic. The pier is lovely to walk along with a couple of restaurants nearby. The beach is only a short walk away from the town centre

The announcements are at least 15 years old and they go on and on and on. And on and on.

Staff pleasant, it's not their fault the prices are daylight robbery.

Costa coffee wasn't great coffee. Toilets clean, but very old and tired.

What a wonderful way to cross the channel. It is exciting from the minute you pull your car into the depths of the ferry until you drive out on the other side. We bought the club passage so we had a luxurious space with complimentary champagne and lovely snacks, newspapers, comfortable seating and a private deck for viewing. Well worth the price. We did venture to the other decks to buy souvenirs. The shop was chock full of great gifts and momentos. The other decks were far too crowded for my taste and people were loud and boisterous. People were packed in it standing, having brought their own food and drink and lots of children who were running about unsupervised. Back to the lounge, it was peaceful and lovely and the views were superb. Much superior to driving in a long dark Chunnel!

A large port for crossing to France. Good organization, sometimes queues.

Yes already been in Dover, I made the crossing to the ferry has a wonderful passenger service

Shockingly long wait times, seems to be completely random as to if you get on a boat in time or not

I deal with people very cold, on the ship all translations in German Portuguese French English Dutch ..., Less in CASTELLANO, SPANISH! .
then when arriving at the terminal and once left the terminal not a sad place to stop even to park and pee
Of course, at 30, 40 km, there was parking but with the condition of paying a whole robbery. I did not like the feeling,
as a tourist it will be all very happy flowers but as a trainee or backpack traveler it seems to me that they are a bit fake and you have to walk with a lot of eye because at least you get robbed in the south of England where I was

A fantastic port with the gorgeous view of the English Channel on one side and the iconic white cliffs of Dover on the other. The port is the central point for sea travel and a vast majority of the travellers are the ones going to France.

The port itself has great security control and it is divided onto ground and two levels. There are good restaurants on the ground level and a balcony with a splendid view on the first. The ground level also has an essentials store.

Nice place to spend your long waits for the ferries.

Rarely seen such a broken and old harbor. We were there with the Aida and had to go to the city, once across the industrial area and along the main road along.

Wonderful white cliffs. When arriving with the boat, it is always magical to spend a while on deck. You feel England, its Heart, its Nature, the Silence as if all is one. The major 2 ferry companies offer a special price when buying 5 or 10trips at once, then you don't pay extra if you want to change your trip, even the day itself you csn change anything. No stress

The port of Dover is a big but very clear. The staff is friendly and there's a shop to have a look while waiting for your boat.

The ice was like a motocross track, the ice skates hurt like hell and the staff couldn t even provide us with the skates before the overpriced 45 minute session started and we were there 30 minutes early with pre-booked tickets!

It is port which connects UK and Europe. The English Channel separates apart the UK and Europe. You will reach France once cross English Channel by Ferry. It is almost 2 hours drive by Ferry. Ferries are comfortable with all the amenities in. From Hotel, toilets to good resting zone. You may enjoy the beautiful journey by looking at the English Channel. You can get your vehicle parked in the Ferry.

A must see when you're at the tip of UK trying to catch a ferry!

Beautiful white Rocks! Amazing view. This is one of the amazing fairy trip-start. Basically it is business channel but also a wonderful way to travel across Europe.

OK followed road signs use m2/m20 ..5hours to go 8miles when I go back to London on the A2 motorway It was virtually empty to Dover. .well done ..great advice not!

Warnings on one-hour control checks should be given. I came one hour 20 before departure, missed the ferry and I have to wait 3h more hours for the next ferry. It is 2am and kids are cold in the car. At least they should have asked passengers by email or twitter to come 2hours earlier.

Possibly the most ugly, ferry port in the world. Dirty, shabby, old. The people who work there are miserable, rude and clearly hate their jobs. Welcome to hell...

The service was very good and I will definitely use this parking again in the future. Drivers were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great place, very nice view on arrival in England on the imposing cliffs, it's just beautiful. Very good organization and what I would like to return to take the ferry to England just for this grandiose port unfortunately living far away my travels are by plane. Very nice port to see. I highly recommend.

This is the port between Europe and the UK. Beautiful landscape which includes the huge Rocks. Driving from Dover to London Central without traffic is roughly 2 hours.

Truck drivers,does all this queing,including opp stack count as REST?even tho we are moving,sometimes,i think yes.remove tacho,sit in que,get on boat 12 hrs later or tomorow and crack on.

The important port of Dover is divided into two parts from which one ships the direct passenger and passenger transport in Europe, while the other ships fast ships and cruise ships. We disembarked with the car coming from Calais and, after about twenty days, we boarded for the return. Very large and well organized port with a large ticket office, bars, restaurants and many other services. Excellent signs both on entry and exit. Very characteristic the white cliffs nearby.

I think this is actually the busiest port in the UK. It's facinating to watch. You want to go up to the White Cliffs and get a view from the top.

Really, really bad experience.

We arrived with one car and two persons to catch an evening ferry (around 9pm) to Calais.
No signs at the streets or the entrance in which direction to go.
The people at the border control were nearly rude as we asked them for the right way to the ticket office. Maritime Security then separated us asked us if we had any knives. We said yes, as we had two normal, small knives for camping and eating. The lady confiscated them without any proper explanation. (Later on we checked with the legal restrictions for knives in GB and she was just wrong...) But it was too late and we were too tired to argue at the spot. And we definitely wouldn't have paid 30 GBP each to get them MAYBE back.

Next step on our search for the ticket office was a big place with several counters for drive thru but without any display panel which was the next departing ferry. (Later on we're told that all the displays were disposed. Ridiculous...)
So we just drove on the off chance to one of the ferry provider who ignored more or less our questions and just gave us a piece of paper with a ferry departing too late for us. At least he told us where the ticket office was.
In the ticket office we finally could ask (!! as it still was nowhere on display) the several providers which was the next departing ferry and we bought our ticket there. The nice lady told us that there were no signs or whatsoever due to the reconstruction of the harbour and she was well aware of the complaints of the passagers.

In comparison to Calais Harbour this was a very unpleasant experience and I definitely do not want to come back anytime soon.

With few people around, several closed shops but clean and crisp air and clear France in front.

Driving into the port everything is well signposted. Border control can be a bit on the slow side. The staff on the ticket booths are usually friendly and helpful.
This is my port of choice when travelling abroad.

I took a ferry and at the end a car had water going down into the ferry. thank. you and i went on the ferry at 22:00 24/07/14 back 22:00 10/08/14

As easyjet exists (at least for now) don't bother with taking a car to eu

The arrival in the harbor of Dover in bright sunshine was very impressive. The chalk coast was bright white.

First impression was very powerful, all tha sips, tha size and spectecullar white cliffs. Impressive !!!

Lots of space when you're waiting for a ferry. There's a shop similar to a service station where basic food, books and EU driving equipment can be purchased.

It is always better to arrive in a country on the surface than through a tunnel.
To go to England, the port of Dover is very good. Look at the pictures!

Efficient port let down by a power hungry member of staff directing cars in an abrupt troublesome manner.

scruffy , but it works better than it has ever done ..... booking in and out is easy . they have definitely got it right ... does what it says on the tin ...

Great place to stand and look out to sea watching the boats go by. Also free to park for a hour by the sea front. Great views of Dover Castle from there as well.

I was taking a ferry from dover, and 'i was under the suspicion of having money' in result I was brought around for customs and searched this resulted in me missing my ferry and having to wait 3h for the next one with a long journey ahead. I understand if your doing ur job but suspicious are just not good enought. Really terrible job in the search also, damaging parts of the Interior of the car.
