The location was good and wasn't that difficult to get to Universal Studios. The rooms had a great view and helped us plan our next meal. Service was nice and did everything we asked for quickly. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The room was spacious and clean. The hotel had nice facilities including a gym and a Japanese garden. As with other DoubleTree visits you get a warm cookie on arrival. Would recommend that you hire a car to get around LA - the valet parking is a convenient option but if it's too pricey there is a car park right next door

Beautiful property and helpful staff! The only downside of this hotel is the location and the lack of free Wi-Fi. Prepare to get stuck in downtown traffic. The food court next door has delicious Asian food offerings.

There was a park nearby, and there were beautiful playground equipment that a six-year-old daughter could play safely. Little Tokyo was nearby and I could buy water and food cheaply. It is a recommended hotel.

The front desk service was amazing and they were so sweet, the room is very clean, the staff is super friendly and help full. Our parking man even gave us his phone number and an annotated map of where to go! All around amazing experience

McDonalds has better wifi than this hotel, besides you have to create an acount in Hilton in order tu use it are you kidding me?! in what year are we?! btw, NO signal in room 1601.

Great stay. Great staff. I love the art work. Breakfast was a little lacking. Customer service was 1000 percent. Other DoubleTrees have a Honors Floor. Which I think is a plus. Negative. They charge $38 for parking. It is a lot compared to my $600 2 rooms for 3 days each reservation.
But again. The Staff was amazing

Hospitality was most definitely 5 star! Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating! Last year my family and I stayed at the Sheraton hotel and it was the worst experience. This Hotel was such a refreshing experience with clean spacious rooms! The Japanese garden was so peaceful and zen like! Our kids went up by the waterfall to read. They enjoyed it very much!

This hotel is very nice. Right downtown and close to Japantown. Quite a hike from the airport and most tourist spots but a good solid location of you're visiting the Disney Concert Hall or the Broad museum. Breakfast there is very adequate with many options.

Nice hotel is little Tokyo. Friendly service but the hotel is showing its age. Amenities in rooms are a bit old. How about charging your phone with the old iPod/iPhone connector (30pin) pre lightning?

But service is friendly and room is comfortable

We had a very lovely stay at this hotel in mid June. There is a garden area on part of the roof on top of the 21st floor where my husband would relax in the mornings, drink his coffee and read the newspaper. The beds were big, the room very spacious and clean. There also is a nice restaurant called Justice Tavern with great food and customer service. The hotel staff were outstanding as well. If we ever find ourselves in LA again we will definitely keep thos hotel in mind!!!!

Reception and all the service staff were very helpful and cordial. Our beachfront room on the third floor had a balcony and a great view of the pool area, the ocean, and sunrise- magnificent. I really liked the room where we slept for it was cozy and comfy. Thanks again for all your hard work and consideration. You were all nice to us!

They've definitely taken the Japanese theme to the max. The rooftop garden is lovely and the rooms are your standard Double Tree fare. Lack of pool/hot tub is disappointing but overall a quality stay.

Very nice hotel, service is great, staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. The bar and restaurant are wonderful as well. Bartenders are more like friends than drink couriers, wonderful conversation, atmosphere, and overall experience. A+.

Former New Otani.

Former New Otani.
It became Hilton system now.
The rooms have good views and the bedrooms are not bad,
The bathroom is very small and the facilities are not very good.

There didn't seem to be an investment made in keeping this old hotel updated or the rooms well maintained
I would characterize the rooms as 'motel-ish'
Dirt, mold, and no working fan in the bathroom of the room When you turn on the shower a loud machine noise reverberated throughout
Mattress saggy in the center. Carpet circa 1980
Most staff were friendly & helpful which is the reason for 2 stars, except one front desk person who was absolutely awful
For the per day price, not worth it
Last but not least, I came home to find they charged my card for other members of the family although they were specifically corrected 2 days prior to us leaving. The nightmare continues.

Nice hotel, pleasant and comfortable. Staff very helpful and welcoming. The one thing I would note is that the area near the hotel has taken a turn for the worse. I strongly recommend staying away from everything East of the hotel, as Los Angeles Street seems to be the last decent block before the sidewalks are filled with homeless in tents and rolled up in blankets. Especially southeast, as even one block over and 2-3 down is stunning. I only drove there at night, but I can't imagine any of those businesses are even open anymore. It's what I imagine a third world slum looking like, and I'm hardly exaggerating. It's almost worth seeing just to experience. It's sad, but that's the reality, and I wish I had known it going in. I ended up having to walk back to the hotel at 1 a.m. and it did not feel particularly safe. All that said, it is quite a nice hotel, and I had no complaints about the quality and comfort of the room. But location matters, and it's something I wish I had known going in.

Very nice hotel with a great restaurant! The rooms are very comfortable and well furnished. The location is very close to most things downtown, but beware that it is in kind of a shody neighborhood.

Their bar at the hotel had a Vegas lobby vine to it which was welcoming. The staff there was all nice and greeted us kindly when we arrived. Great location too right in the middle of downtown LA.

The mini fridge barely worked. No microwave in room, no trashcan in room only mini trashcan in bathroom, have to valet Park when parking is full. Parking is additional 35$ on top of daily room rate which was 350$. Was really disappointed. Breakfast at their restaurant was 25$ per person. Insane for how limited their options are.

Just for a good night's sleep after partying to avoid the hassle of traffic on the road. A very successful college reunion was held in this hotel. The food was excellent to satisfy our tummy. It's very roomy, and can easily move around to meet school mates, classmates, and professors. We had fun dancing and drinking that night. That experience would be unforgettable.
