Room was great... I had an upper floor room with a good view. The hotel restaurant was better in terms of serving size, taste and price than a nearby restaurant. Location of the hotel is OK, however we didn't feel comfortable going for a run due to some of the nearby areas seeming a little challenged. Service at the hotel was awesome! I'd definitely star here again.

Little Tokyo is just around the corner.
Grand Central Market is a 10 min walk away.

Great hotel! Great location! Walking distance to Grand Central Market, bars and restaurants. The bathroom can use an update because they are a little old but they are still very clean. There's a beautiful garden as well.

Shower didn't work. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to talk to the manager as she wasn't available at that time. The dinner service is also very slow. For me it took 40-50mins to get and pay the bill. Kitchen was faster then the numerous waiters. Restaurant wasn't that full so this was super weird. Room faced busy street so there was some noise but I don't think they can do anything about it. I wish they check their rooms and fix them so I would have been able to take a shower. I don't think I'll ever go that hotel ever again.

I am giving this 2 stars because the hotel itself is very pretty, the gardens are nice, and the staff was friendly. We paid 250 a night for our room. Self parking overnight is an additional 40. Valet is 49. The AC in our room never worked. Despite having it on all night, the temp in the room increased. You couldn't take a bath because the plug doesnt seal properly so unless you were pressing down on it constantly, the water would drain out. The wallpaper was stained and peeling in places. The food at the hotel restaurant was mediocre at best. The windows are very thin so it ends up being very loud (which its LA so almost to be expected). And it is frustrating that despite being a large seemingly busy hotel, they have very few luggage carts which makes checkout more difficult. Wouldnt stay here again

Hotel was in a good area but the room was really old and needed a redo. Also the bathtub was disgusting with dirt everywhere. For a 1 night stay it wasnt bad but anything more and think about another place...

I booked online through Priceline. My 2 girlfriends and myself wanted to go shopping in downtown LA. We had come from Vegas. Check in was fast. I had already paid online. I had to use my card for an additional $70 for incidentals. Parking was $38 at the hotel for 24 hours. Check out was noon but we asked for and got a late checkout, 1pm no problem no additional cost.
Doubletree was perfect for downtown shopping because it was a short 4 block walk.
The room was perfect. Without asking or paying more, we were given the 21st floor. That was the top floor. We were also right next to the elevator.
The hotel is non smoking and everyone in my party including myself smoked so we had to go outside which was fine.
At one point, it was like 2am and we were outside smoking. A man kind of came out of no where and made us uncomfortable so we headed back inside. He followed us. We were almost at a full sprint. The front desk attendant, a man must have seen the look on our faces and our fast walking because the man followed us inside and the front desk clerk stopped him and gave us time to get to the elevator.
If you need a place to eat, delivery or carry out, the front desk suggested and we went to the LA Cafe. Super good prices and a full menu.
I work at a 5 star resort in Las Vegas so I can tell you confidently that The Doubletree is close to a 5 star resort and we will continue to stay there in future trips

While I was only here for a short stay I seemingly have a good idea of why I would never stay at this hotel again next time I am in the area. The pros are, the view was nice, location is great and close to many good options, the bed was really comfy. The bad, the shower drained slow, the fridge was dead, parking g was $40/night!, Wifi coat an extra $10 if you didn't want to sit in the lobby to get it. Given the cost of the room and location of other garages that would only charge $7-10 for parking, this didn't come off well. No free WiFi in the room?! Is this the 90's? Never again, plenty of other, better, choices.

Convenient location, GREAT SERVICE! Shuttle car service for idiot New Yorkers like me who don't drive, although nearly everything is within walking distance (both MOCA's, Little Tokyo, City Hall Mall, and about 1/2 a mile away is the Mexican Market (awesomeness!) and Union Station. While I was there the garden was pretty vacant most of the time, which is very nice if you ask me. The AC broke in our room so they upgraded us to a better room with working AC, got us moved really quick. Really nice and patient staff. ... so why is the main picture for the hotel a laser printer? I have no idea. XD

We would stay here again in a heartbeat! From the front desk to everyone else on the staff that you meet or assist you, you can expect a friendly, helpful, and respectful staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Super close to airport and food establishments. This hotel is a great place to stay!

Come for mainly the tranquil Japanese rooftop garden. It's small but a scenic getaway from the dense, urban city center. I saw a group of sparrows bathing in the waterfall. One of them had a red throat and head and was very shy. Guess he just like hanging out with different birds. The hotel bldg also has a Starbucks and restaurant. The interior is beautifully decorated with a Japanese aesthetic.

Free to visit but not sure about affordable parking. Take the metro.

The personnel is nice and helpful. However, the rooms are old and not very well maintained. I also think rates are a little too high considering that it's located very close to the skid row.

Lovely hotel in decent area. Overall nice experience. 4 out of 5 only because glasses were missing on day 2 and towel was not replaced on day 3. Tea was never replaced after day 1 so drank coffee instead. Very noisy due to police and fire engine sirens (not hotel's fault). May seem silly to lose a star over but 4 is still a good score.
