New favorite psuedo fastfood joint. Wish I lived closer to one!
I ordered the beef brisket plate for $21 which included 2 sides. She asked if I wanted cornbread, but failed to tell me if was an extra charge. The food left a lot to be desired, especially at this price point. I probably won't come back here, but if I do, I may try the $9 sandwich instead.
As soon as I pulled up I smelled the scent of what I was hoping to be an absolutely DELICIOUS meal. I went in and our server was very pleasant. We had a few questions about the menu and was even given a sample to taste before making a decision. Our meal came out relatively fast. NO SOONER than we take the first few bites, we start pulling hairs out of the meal. Our server then told us he was going to only take that portion off the bill. We, of course, opted to leave instead. Then he had the audacity to get upset that we didn't leave a tip. 10 minutes later I threw up and my boyfriend pulled a hair out that was stuck in his throat. Needless to say, we will never be returning. If I could a leave negative quantity for stars, I would.
This place is LOVE in food and service form. I come almost every Sunday for the buffet!
I had the chicken sandwich and didn't taste any smoke flavor. Sauces were watery and flavorful. Nothing special about this lunch.
Not bad, but way over priced. The owner (Mr. Head) is very nice, but the lady owner from Fredericksburg, Va is very rude and should consider a line of work not dealing with the public.
I'm going to give this place a five star because I would choose okay food at a restaurant with great service any day over great food at a restaurant with bad service. Maybe we just weren't that hungry and didnt have much of an appetite. Either way we left with our bellies stuffed and happy with our sweet, sweet server and the low bill. If we lived closer, we would go back again!
Very good BBQ but we always get the Fried Catfish. Outstanding sides and cornbread. Excellent service and reasonable prices. Parking at a premium but ok within walking distance.
Visited this AL-style bbq place many times.
Always a good meal.
Try the white sauce.
It s different and delicious, on chicken.
I love coming here with the fam. The big stuffed potatoe is the best, plus everything is made from scratch. If you love southern cooking stop by, plus on sundays they have all you can eat but theres a time limit just not sure. But def recommend.
The BBQ is great tender and tasty, the sides are too die for, no kidding the cabbage and collards are always cooked to perfection! The loaded baked potatoes are as big as your head my wife makes three meals out of one potato. There are different sauces to satisfy everyone's palate's. This is a dining experience not to be missed.
All food is great but particularly love the giant stuffed baked potatoes. Strongly recommend.
Awesome food, staff, service!! We drove 7 hrs to get there before they closed for the night. Dont bother with any of those chain Bbq places, this is the place
OMG I love this place. Can I get a pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese and some collard greens?
Southern comfort food that brought back memories of Mama's home cooking. It's worth the detour off of I-95 in Prince William county.
Delicious lunch! And serve was truly customer friendly!! Thank you!
Great Sunday buffet. Smoked meats where you add the sauce. My kinda place. Polite service.
Good bbq, my favorite is the loaded baked potato that they have with bbq on top.
The loaded potato can serve two. Food is good and the better choice for ribs and pulled pork in this area
Excellent service, tasty, meaty ribs and the sides are all good. Don't forget the pies.
Best BBQ this side of Mason Dixon line. We are so glad they are in Woodbridge.
Food was just OK. We weren't too impressed with what we got. I got the pork sandwich and my wife got the pulled chicken sandwich. Both were dry and bland in flavor. The sauces were also just ok. Not too sure what was up with all the hexagrams and ouija boards hanging every where.
Service is great & fast. The ribs are awesome. Dessert is highly recommend. A must try spot for sure.
Great service. I think the BBQ isn t the best I ve ever had but it s still good.
Love Dixie Bones but too far so don't go often enough.
I used to live down the street from Dixie Bones and once I ate there I was hooked and became a regular. The stuffed potatoes are addicting. I always take home half of it and make two meals out of it. They are HUGE. I now live in WV but visit Woodbridge about once a month and make stopping by to get a potato to go a priority. All of the toppings for the potato are equally delicious. In addition to the food, I have found the staff (especially William, who works as a server) to be friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you have everything possible to make your meal perfect.
For how much it cost I expected better quality. However the servers were very nice. Very clean establishment too.
Nelson, may wife and I have been eating at Dixie bones ever since it opened. We rarely had a meal we didn t like. Your food has been consistently great as has been the service. Because of Covid we haven t eaten out for months. Today we did your takeout. My wife was really wanting some catfish. Unfortunately, it was terrible! It had heavy breading which was also SPICY. Your catfish had never been spicy! The pieces of catfish were also small, folded and miss-shaped. It just was not what your catfish had always been like, which was disappointing. The coleslaw was also not quite up to par. The rest of our two meals were fine, but the prices surprised us. Fix the catfish please!
Best BBQ in northern Virginia with a great staff. It's a "go to" place!
The best BBQ around! Reminds me if grandma's cooking!
The pork BBQ and collards were great. I go out of my way to eat here.
I have to admit, the reviews on this let us down. The green beans, and baked beans appear to come from a can with no additional work. The coleslaw appears to be cabbage and mayo without flavor and the chicken and brisket were very dry. None of the table sauces have labels. They are super runny so if you want to taste one it runs over your whole plate. The only thing that was acceptable was the corn bread it was on the low end of ok. I would have been ok with the meal if it wasn't $16 a plate for 4 strips of brisket and 2 canned sides.
Really good food backed by extremely polite employees who provide great service. Would recommend to everyone.
Pork shoulder had absolutely no smoked flavor. I actually wondered if they even put any seasoning on it. Beef brisket was leather tuff. I liken it to eating beef jerky on the chew. Beans tasted like they came straight out of a can. On a side note the cornbread was excellent.
Yesterday, I was in a hurry and running late to attend a funeral in New Jersey. I decided to call ahead at one of my favorite places to get fried catfish, Dixie Bones. I've been coming here for almost 10 years. Quickly ran in, paid for my food, and left. When I stop in Alexandria to pick up friends and open my food, I find this. To my dismay, the catfish was both burned and I'm sure the grease was old that it was fried in. The beans and rice and green beans all taste burnt. I called back and explained to a manager on staff. She asked me to refrigerate the food and bring it back when I returned to VA. I only eat certain types of food and had absolutely no time to stop anywhere else. So I ate the catfish - burnt and all. When I returned today, I brought them green beans and beans and rice. The manager on staff was nice about it, explained their policy to me, and said "she'd take care of it". They begin making another one and an older man tells them they can't make another one. I stepped in and said they didn't have to. I'd just like my money for what I didn't eat. He said that he wouldn't be giving me any money back but he could replace the sides. I explained that I ate here too often and that the food was burnt. He says 'no it wasn't'. Trust me, if the sides were in the least bit edible, I would've eaten them. The lack of customer service by whom I'm assuming is either an owner or GM was absolutely horrible. I thanked the manager for what she tried to do and left. It is so sad that this business doesn't truly don't value their customers and their customer's $$
The food is amazing! And the service is even better!!!
Worse service ever!! I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone! The food wasn t even good. My daughter had chicken, I had pork. The sandwiches weren t good, the server forgot my drink, the food wasn t hot, just all around horrible experience!
I have a friend who comes to Woodbridge from Arlington to have lunch with me. She loves Dixie Bones and will only eat there - where she is in 7th heaven. I don't want to deprive her of this experience, but there is nothing on the menu that I want to eat. The sides are greasy and there is no salad. I eat gluten free which they don't bow to. I asked the owner if there could be a salad for people like me. She said yes, I could to the Fredericksburg Dixie Bones which serves salad. That was not a helpful response. Couldn't they bow down to make a salad for those of us who don't like their food and have to eat there a couple times a year. MP
Been going there for YEARS! Friendly people, GREAT food, Clean environment.
The LOADED PORK POTATO is UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!! Wish I lived closer, would be a once.a week visit!! Keep on Rockin!!
This was my first time here, and I have to say I WILL NEVER BE BACK! The service was awesome, the food was horrible. RIBS-HORRIBLE. BRISKET-HORRIBLE. CAT FISH-HORRIBLE. GREEN BEANS-HORRIBLE. COLLARDS-HORRIBLE. MAC&CHEESE-HORRIBLE. AND HOW DO YOU MESS UP CORN BREAD? HORRIBLE!
It is not often that I travel through Woodbridge. But when I do, I make it a point to go to Dixie Bones. From the decorations of mementos from different military and police units, to the delicious Alabama-style BBQ, to the excellent staff, this place is unique. I literally discovered it by accident, merely being hungry on my way to DC but now it has become something to look forward to when traveling through the area.
Quaint & Casual. Ordered the Stuffed/Topped Potato. Loaded. It was good, will go back. Server was very pleasant & efficient. No Complaints here.
Hadn't been here in years but the food was excellent! The collard greens were very tasty! Will be coming back for sure.
Not real BBQ! Good service, but ridiculous BBQ. If you want legit BBQ, look elsewhere.
Great pulled pork plenty of sides, lots of food!
Fantastic service that went above and beyond most other places I've been. 10/10, would eat again.
Love the potatos here! Sweet tea is amazing as well!
Best and favorite place to eat. Service and food are number 1
I recommend this place to everyone. Never had bad food or service. Just wish it was closer to home. What all restaurants should strive to be.
Excellent ! Home style great American scrupulous food . Ribs , tender and flavorful ! Collard greens , incredible ! Cornbread , grandma's great ! Oh my , the catfish , WOW ! Pie , delicious ! Customer services , FABULOUS ! The best restaurant in Occuqun for fresh , flavorful , scrupulous food !
Excellent spot to eat food when in a hurry. Their service is fast, rates are convenient, good character. Will come visit again
Love the loaded baked potato covered with BBQ pork, and I tell you they make the best cornbread I have ever eaten!!
Love this place fire many years, great catfish!!! Excellent service
We have eaten at Dixie Bones many time. Normally we enjoy all the food but the last few times I have ordered Chocolate Cream Pie to Go it hasn t been good. It seems old the crust was very hard the chocolate just seemed like it was drying out. Just not like it use to be, very disappointing. I always say they have the best Chocolate Pie but I m not so sure anymore.
I m not one to ever leave reviews but when you pay higher prices, you expect great quality. The facility was clean and the staff was great!.. The food however, was tasteless and disappointing especially for their higher prices. We got the pulled pork, half chicken, ribs, and catfish. The only thing tasty out of all of it was the saltiness on the fish. The cornbread and a lot of butter but the cornmeal taste was overbearing, I felt like I was eating barn feed. Go to mission barbecue or one of the many Peruvian chicken places in the area.
Shout out to server Felicity for being such a wonderful representative of Dixie Bones this evening. Each BBQ place is unique. Whether the meats, the sides or just atmosphere, you get a hankering for Dixie Bones. Everytime I bring a first-timer they become fans. And thanks to my first-timer companion for introducing me to rhe Pecan Pie. Delicious! Smooth and lucious. Live long Dixie Bones!
Great BBQ!! Everything there is good and the customer service makes it even better. If you like your BBQ you will love this place.
Okay bbq not the best. Employees looked like they had nothing better to do than talk to each other. But great atmosphere
It was very good we haven't been in years but it was a good as we remember we will go again. And all the waitresses were very nice and helpful. And the place is very clean.
Great food and excellent service! Sunday is the day to try out most of the menu at once!
This is a very good locally owned barbecue restaurant. If you enjoy southern cooking you're going to really like this place. I love the catfish and I would definitely go back to get more. The wait staff was very accommodating and they brought me a couple things to try out without me asking.
Really good service but I have had much better BBQ.
Weird bunch that runs the place. Great family owned BBQ. Military friendly. Good Service
