Good choices and huge servings! Have had better pulled pork, but that was in North Carolina. The sauces are a little bland for my taste, but everything we tried was well cooked and flavorful. Excellent service on a busy Sunday afternoon.

My boyfriend turned me on to this place about a year ago, and I am soo glad. Their food is AMAZING! My go to is the stuffed pork potato with rib sauce. If you have not been, you definitely need to try this place. The wait staff is always extremely friendly and the restaurant is always clean every time I have gone.

Dixie Bones is a good BBQ place. The pulled chicken sandwich with coleslaw is yummy!! My daughter LOVES their loaded baked potatoes. And I have to say they are pretty bomb. My only complaint would be that I wish they had a sweeter BBQ sauce, something along the lines of sweet baby rays. They have their version of that I guess but for me it's not thick enough and just feels like it's missing something. But they do offer multiple types of sauces for all the various kinds of BBQ aficionados out there. Try it out you won't be disappointed.

Not bad! Just not the best BBQ pulled pork I've ever had. And I judge a BBQ place on their pulled pork. This is going to be brutally honest, but the pork was a little dry and definitely pretty bland. The sauce helped with that.

I am a barbecue snob and Dixie Bones is in my top three best restaurants. They serve dry cooked pork and you add the sauce of your choice. The atmosphere is similar to a diner, but die-hard barbecue lovers will enjoy it. Don't forget the cornbread.

Visited the store on a Sunday at 5:30 with 2 other people. I had brisket it. It did not seem to be a brisket cut. It was a roast cut. My wife had pork. It was very dry and need sauce. However I will say the staff is super friendly and service was a 5 star. They also have 4 sauces on the table to choose from and are open on the menu that they are Alabama style. Overall a decent stop off if 95 is packed and you need a break, but I wouldn t go out of my way to seek out the place.

Always a go-to for some fried catfish and local bbq meats. Love the fact they show appreciation to their employees and everyone gets acknowledged accordingly. Their fried apple pie to end the meal is amazing. Definitely an in-town favorite.

Dixie Bones STILL has the same great food I remember from over 14 YEARS ago!! On May 11th, we ate there for my father-in-law's birthday. He ate A LOT of ribs with cole slaw and macaroni and cheese as sides, and he said they were the best ribs he has had in quite a long time. He could not eat them all, so he took the rest home. My younger son was finally adventurous, and ate a chicken potato (this kid is REALLY picky). He said he loved it, and he'd eat one again! My husband and I had our usual from eons ago--pulled mixed chicken for him, and pulled white meat chicken for me, both with red-skin potato salad. My older son had the same. We ate the sandwiches with cole slaw and the traditional wet sauce (it's certainly runny, but tastes delicious). My only regret is not ordering sandwiches and potato salad to take home! A great family place to eat, and the desserts are also delicious!!

Classic Alabama style BBQ! They have great sauces from mild and sweet to vinegar base and tomato base, also great stuffed potatoes.

Service is prompt and friendly and prizes are reasonable. The portions are above average size. (For example one stuffed potato could be a full adult meal, cut it in half it still covers most of the plate) It's not a bad idea to bring an extra plate or two to the table if you would like to share.

For desert you should try the chocolate pie!

Avoid delivery service, and Dixie Bones, at all costs. I placed a $53 delivery order through Postmates and it never came. When I called Dixie Bones, they said to take up my complaint with Postmates, that they can t do anything about it. I asked them to reverse my charge and they said to do it through Postmates. Okay, so then I called Postmates and it was a 45 minute wait, and Postmates told me they unfortunately couldn t reverse the tip portion of the charge which was 20%. They said it it goes straight to the driver s bank account which they can t touch. I couldn t believe. Needless to say, I will be reversing the full charge through USAA under FRAUD. Dixie Bones, and Postmates, are fraud establishments. There is absolutely NO reason why my credit card couldn t be reversed in full, by Dixie Bones, on the spot. It took me two hours tonight to dispute the charges. And tomorrow, I still have to call USAA to solidify the reversal. Avoid them! Avoid Dixie Bones!

the food prices are very reasonable and well portioned but i advised you to have a sample of the potato salad. it tasted straight like mayo very bland and it gave me a upset stomach. BEWARE OF THE POTATO SALAD

We wanted to try this place for a while now, as I have been told that the catering food is very good.... My family and I were a bit disappointed. The restaurant is small, and that's fine because we were looking for something local instead of the regular franchise chains. We were seated immediately and the waitress was friendly and quickly got our drinks and order.

The prices were a bit on the high side in my opinion (they were more like the prices found at RHB and Famous Dave's). But the food lacked flavor.... and the "BBQ sauce" was more like BBQ-colored water... I am used to BBQ sauce to be thick and with more flavor.... It will be a long time before we return here.... too bad.

This place is a utter rip off, female cashier was rude and unfriendly, she charged me credit card prices even tho I paid cash (2 different prices for cash & cc). Food is over priced at an avg. $14+ per meal. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The food is soooo good. The pork melts in your mouth and the catfish is perfect. Even my husband, who hates fish, loved it. The sides are all delicious too.
The service is amazing too. I was blown away!

Very much enjoyed my lunch here, Sunday they have a buffet that's not advertised, totally worth it.I ate so fast I didn't have time to take any pictures! Friendly staff and super fast service.

I was working in the Lorton Virginia area and after a long day of working stumble to upon Dixie Bones. We decided to try them for dinner and we're thoroughly impressed. Upon arrival you are greeted by some incredible good smells. The decor is extremely inviting with a vast collection of antiques and patches from police departments and military from around the world. The staff were friendly and attentive and the order was completed quickly. I had the catfish sandwich and my coworker had the pulled pork stuffed potato. Both were excellent choices and extremely flavorful. This is an excellent choice for someone wanting authentic southern BBQ for a good lunch or dinner. Enjoy!

This place (Fredericksburg) really is awful. BBQ is very dry. Got a large order to go and the muddy spuds were greasy. The cornbread was old. Only thing that was edible was the pie. Male Manager was RUDE !!!!! Never go there again..Go to Mission BBQ much better BBQ and service. They don't deserve the 1 star rating.

Good BBQ with two signature sauces. Both are mild but add flavor without burying the meat. The loaded potato and the BBQ sandwich are repeatable. The cornbread was ok but could have used a bit more flavor and cohesive texture.

Overall disappointed in the quality of food. The brisket was dry and unappetizing and my party shared similar thouhts on their orders. The muddy spuds were not nearly as good as the description. I am not rating 1 star because service was fast and friendly and the coleslaw was good.

Ok BBQ. Meat and sauces are bland and overall just average (and far from "homemade"). However they're charging just as much as far superior BBQ joints around NOVA. Beer selection is also a joke, pie was above average. Not coming back, but it was ok.

If you are looking for even an okay barbeque restaurant, this is not the place. $16 for 3 small ribs, baked beans that came out of a can from the store, and BBQ sauce that's so watered down it looks like murky water. These are only a few of the reasons I will not return and never recommend this place to anyone. No military/student/LE Discount. Staff were okay.

We have been regularly eating at Dixie Bones for over two decades. Dixie Bones is our BBQ restaurant of choice and the benchmark for any BBQ restaurants we try when out of town. Definitely 5-Stars

The staff is friendly and accommodating. I was hoping to find my new DMV BBQ place but sadly, this wasn t it. I don t know if the quality was sacrificed because of limited resources during Covid but there was nothing special about any of it. Brisket and chicken were cooked adequately. Sides were bland and boring. I hate that I had to write a poor review but maybe it will help someone else.

Fantastic pork BBQ, slaw and baked beans. So much flavor and so juicy. The pork bbq sandwich for $5.60 is a large serving and comes with a side of slaw, bbq sauce and I believe a vinegar liquid type sauce.

This blows away Red Hot and Blue which I have had dozens of times. I have also had North Carolina and southern VA pulled pork sandwiches as well as road side mom n' pop trailers with bbq pits. I will spread the word and I will be back!

This is one of those places where you have to look hard to find a bad dish. Everything here is good, the meats, the sides, the dessert, everything. I'd recommend coming for lunch on Sundays when they have the buffet (has everything except ribs and catfish) or if you can't do that I like to order a sandwich like the pulled pork or beef and then add sides from there. I think a meal at Dixie Bones is best when you get a lot of different things instead of a lot of ONE thing.
