Oh man that was good! Got the 2 meat combo. The ribs and pork shoulder were amazing! Picked this place because it had a 4.3 with 504 reviews and now we know why they have maintained that 4.3. Victor was great and knew every question even the history of the place. Great time with great food!

Ok so I don't really write many reviews, but I feel I need to warn people. My husband stopped here on a whim. The place was packed and the customers inside was raving about the food. I read the mixed reviews but we took a chance because the good reviews were really good. He got ribs, baked beans and cole slaw, I had the catfish, mac and cheese and green beans. We both got cornbread.

Now the crazy thing is, the food looked really good but my husband and I immediately spit out the side dishes. They were ALL disgusting. The mac and cheese was just texture, not even the taste of a little bit of cheese. None of the food had salt, pepper or any other seasonings...just straight out the metal can flavor. The catfish was ok, it was the only thing edible on my plate. The ribs were tough, fatty and no smoky flavor. The cornbread was off.

Please don't take a chance on this place for bbq or any food at that, and listen to the bad reviews...they are ALL true. And this was THE worst food I've ever gotten from a restaurant and paid over $55.

Unsanitary table hygiene and bland dishes. Ribs were dry. Had to ask for routine condiments. Sauces unlabeled, randomly scattered. Was trying to listen to my table companion discuss a weighty topic. Requested the manager through our servers to lower the volume, with the incessant and loud Christmas musiic down, she did for minute...only to raise volume

I used to live in Lake Ridge and lived there since the 70's. When this opened my family went there every week. I have moved out of state 11 years ago and when I come to Woodbridge to visit family I always stop for BBQ and I take home a pie. Love this place!!!!

Real Alabama style bbq. Tomato based sauce. Pork products galore. Best Mac N cheese around. Their sides are all amazing. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. They also do sweet tea right. A great taste of Dixie in NoVa.

One of those great restaurants where you least expect it. This is the farthest North legitimate barbecue restaurant I know of. The pulled pork and chicken barbecue are the must haves. Remember to have with the vinegar based BBQ sauce. All the different kinds of American barbecue are great and this is an excellent example of Alabama Barbecue. The corn bread strikes a great balance between buttery and corny. The sweet tea served is the real deal. It has to be made by heating up the sugar into syrup and then thoroughly mixing it into tea. Hill Country in DC is decent (for Texas BBQ) but if you are looking for something tastier, shoot down 95 to Woodbridge. It is a sin against barbecue that the rating is 4 stars. Service is really fast and prices are cheap, this place is the whole package.

My husband and I weren't very impressed by the food. We did not try the dessert, but had the pulled pork, brisket, and ribs for meat. As for sides we had the mac and cheese, the cabbage, and the baked potato.

There just wasn't a lot of flavor in the food, especially the mac and cheese.

I will say, the cabbage was fantastic haha, but I'm partial to cabbage and it's hard to screw up. The baked potato was good too.

Where do I begin playa the ribs, cabbage and oh the mac & cheese taste like they locked up a bunch of southern grandmothers in the kitchen. The first bite of the mac & cheese had me looking to see if my grandmother 3 back there! Then I moved on to the cabbage and the love fest continued as the cabbage had just the right amount of spice and I think butter. Skipping over the ribs and moving onto the cornbread happily and sadly it taste just as my grandmother made it. It was a large slice of cornbread that looked like it was baked in a round pan. I little on the drier side until just like grandma's until you add butter then it's game on. So we are 3 for 3 with everything being great not good but GREAT. Now finally onto the ribs and honestly this how ribs are to be done. The ribs were just barely holding onto the bones. You bite into the ribs and they surrender their place on the bone take up their proper place in your mouth. Have I said this how ribs are too be done yet? The service was spot on and serving of the food for my party of 3 by Erica was great. She was attentive and made sure everything was an extreme pleasure. You WILL get more then you can eat... OK well at least we did. As I ear this review I am BEYOND stuffed and can wait to get home to hopefully finish the rest. Oh yeah before I forget the sauces.... Oh the sauces ahhh the sauces. You must try all of the sauces to find your favorite as you will find 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. If you are within 50 miles of Dixie Bones you really need to stop by and taste this little piece of BBQ heaven.

See the great reviews but was thoroughly disappointed. Ordered the beef brisket and even though it was good, the order has three small slices of brisket. Definitely did not get $17 worth of food. My wife ordered the pulled chicken which was extremely dry and had almost no smokey flavor to it. The Mac and cheese was watery and the beans tasted like something from a can. They're very generous with the sides but it seems they make up for small meat portions with bigger quantity of sides. Maybe it was a bad night but the higher price point was certainly not worth the quality/quantity. Luck for my family, there are other local BBQ joints that have better servings and quality.

Incredibly good barbecue. The sides are very large and the overall price is good for the amount of food you receive. The sauces are great and there's a variety of options from a tomato base to hot barbecue.

Just had the pulled chicken sandwich. Very Very tasty.... I added coleslaw and a slice of lettuce for veggies. Poured the container of BBQ sauce on the chicken to give it some moisture and OMG.... We have a Winner!!

Just go to Mission BBQ. Mostly everything I had today was disappointing, however, the pulled chicken was only OKAY (1 additional star given as a result)... I am not understanding what is up with this watery sauce that is offered at many BBQ places as a sauce to put on your sandwich meat, maybe this is regular and I am just not use to this. Mission BBQ doesn't offer that water sauce thankfully. Pictured are the Muddy Spuds, Macaroni (box macaroni at best, not fully stirred), Baked Beans, and the pulled Chicken sandwich. Will NEVER return. It's always the worst food that is always overpriced when it comes to restaurants and unfortunately, that was my experience here today. Just being totally honest, my apologies if perceived as rude.

Good southern cooking. If you want stick to your bones food, come here. This is a small mom and pop (with an outpost in Fredericksburg) so if you want salad or gluten free, go somewhere else. They are popular for takeout and also cater, great for a picnic or family get-together.

We've not ordered from Dixie Bones in 10 years and now we remember why!

We ordered takeout today. The catfish was raw/undercooked, we ordered white meat chicken and received dark meat, the baked beans are straight from the can with no seasoning, the ribs are like chewing on a rubber dog bone, and the dixie chips are nothing more than grease filled potato slices!

The pecan pie was good!!

Never again!

Have been going to Dixie Bones since it first opened. This is a friendly restaurant with great service and outstanding food. Had lunch there this past Saturday and it was an excellent experience. The BBQ Pork and sides were prepared just right and the service was spot on - not always the case at many places when you are dining alone. Well done Dixie Bones!

We were lucky to find this place traveling from NY to SC. The food was great. The staff even better. I loved that they had a cross section of different BBQ sauces from different regions. Amazing find!

Got catering for my daughters baptism, my mom was a half hour late to pick up the food and had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the catfish to finish. We ordered 2 pounds of chicken but when we picked up they only had one. They told my mom the next time we went in we could have free chicken. I don t care about free chicken, I really wanted to feed all of my family that came in for the baptism. Food was good but for catering I will never go the DB again

I have been to the Woodbridge location many times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, staff and food. Their white sauce is amazing and a family favorite.
Today, 9/3/19, we were in Fredericksburg and decided to stop in and try their Outpost location. We were so disappointed. The food was lukewarm, the sauces for the sandwiches and other BBQ items, was so watered down that they no longer had a good taste. The gentleman working the front was unwelcoming and seemed to care less that we were in the restaurant.
We will not be giving our business to this Dixie Bones location again. Highly disappointed.
