Very large ruins site. Also has unique beehive grave site.
Wonderful place! Don't miss the tombs and the most impressive tomb of Atreas which isn't in the archaeological site of Mycenae but very close!! Avoid going early in the afternoon! Prefer early in the morning or late in the afternoon! Check the opening hours!
Worthy of the name and history it carries, as well as the museum that is a jewel with many exhibits.
An ancient and amazing site, requires more restoration but definitely impressive for a 3000 year old city.
The museum is charming and tasteful.
The words are superfluous ... Feel awe and admiration! Very well maintained archaeological site. If I had to make one observation it would be that there are many signs pointing the way because we lost twice.
It's a must see when coming to Greece. The ancient town is really something spectacular. It's mostly designed so you can walk around freely with no planed routes. If you are going here you should really look for the underground cave - it was really fun going down there. The only drawback is that there is barely any shade and it's mostly a steep climb so pack a lot of water and wear sunscreen!
Look for the underground passage on the hill side opposite to the Lion gates
Beautiful!! Worth the hike up the mountain as well as the museum. Recommend!
The correct name is Mycenae and Google does not rectify it. It is a very important archaeological site from the historical and literary point of view but it does not impress from the aesthetic point of view and requires previous knowledge or a guide to understand well what is being seen. Even so, it is worth the visit, if only to see the famous Puerta de los Leones and see the view over the Argos plain.
Beautiful archeological site, full of tourists, but not enough to create caos
World Heritage Mycenae has a lot to see. The well-preserved lion gate, several burial chambers and many rooms half-replicated with original finds. There is also a cistern to explore, you need a flashlight and good shoes.
The museum is very well constructed, everything is understandably described in English. Free parking facilities available. Entry is 12.
Duration of visit approx. 3 hours
While visiting this ancient site and pondering on the path of our civilization, a kitty may be around accompanying your visit. It almost seems to have traveled from the past to show you around its ancient home.
The most impressive and well preserved castle of the mycenaen civilization. A must see! If you are into ancient Greece this is a mind-blowing place to visit together with the museum in the site. Do not forget to visit klitaimnistras tomb and the atreas treasury not far from the site itself.
Parking is quite difficult. Many buses through the narrow street. A lot of visitors. It is worth visiting.
The notes and information remains weak. That is very brief and poorly designed.
a bit sad and disappointing. I mean.. pass by but dont expect much.
Archaeological site, a must visit, a wonderful view of the Peloponnese.
12 euros / person
Open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
There are two sites to see for this price there.
At the end of the day, there are fewer tourist buses:)
Impressive place that is worth visiting, the treasure of Atreus is going down the mountain where the lion's gate is located, etc., but the entrance includes both places. It is advisable to first visit the lion's gate and others and finally the treasure of Atreus since if the sun hits a lot the first part, being a mountain uphill, will become unbearable.
Fantastic place where we can find traces of Mycenaean culture.
One of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Greece
Mycenae archeological site is definitely a must visit.
This place was inspiring for the sheer historical value. To imagine the civilization that once lived here. Truly fantastic! Highly recommended. Take your imagination with you as you enter the Lion's Gate!
History site, great views, nice personal on the site willing to help with informations
The door of the Lions is excellent, the rest needs a lot of imagination: for this there is its museum, not to be missed. A few hundred meters before, the treasure of Atreus, remarkable.
The experience of culture that lived here 3500 years ago is a magical experience. Finally, you can understand S owacki's experience contained in the poem "Agamemnon's Tomb". The ruins may not be as spectacular as in Athens, but the extent of excavations and the size of the city makes a really big impression.
And it's cheaper than in Athens.
Who does not know Mycenae? The city of Agamemnon, the leader of the Greeks in Troy, to avenge the abduction of Helena by Paris.
If you travel to Mycenae in this expectation and visit the complex, you will be a little disappointed. Only a little is reconstructed. There are basically only the foundation walls. Without expertise you can not do much with it.
I think the Greeks need to do more with these cultural goods, which undoubtedly are the foundation of Western culture. It should at least be mounted panels with pictures, as it probably could have looked earlier. It would be better, one would reconstruct parts.
Nice place at a modest price of 6 euros to visit the archaeological site and museum.
I recommend reaching the place with a rental car
If you want to see historical fortresses this is the place to be. There is also a tomb and a museum included in the 12 euro ticket price.
Beautiful and not difficult to reach, and transferable to everyone
One of the most important archeological sites in Greece.
The gates of the lions are awe-inspiring, but the underground water tank was one of the best experiences.
If you go to Greece you must visit. The oldest ancient site I visited in Greece. If I remember well older than 3 500 years. Well-preserved remains of the ancient city and beautifully arranged archaeological museum. In the 9th month when I was there was a pretty crowd. I believe it is so all year round. Ticket price as well as at other archaeological sites in Greece 12 euros.
Very beautiful and well-kept archaeological site. Easy to reach and well indicated. The site includes the remains of the ancient city, a small but really beautiful and well-kept museum and the imposing tomb of Agamemnon. The site of the city is at the top of the hill but easily accessible.
Beautiful views of the surrounding hills and, if you have a lot of imagination, beautiful remains of ancient buildings
Beautifull place to visit! Awsome views and history.
The place is full of the remnants of Mycenaean culture
Beautiful experience, 12 euros for access to both archaeological sites and the museum, taxis are back and forth between the site and the "Fichti" bus stop (10 minutes for 5 euros) and the bus to Athens runs approximately every hour ( return ticket 21 euros)
One of the UNESCO heritage sites that you cannot miss.
The visit lasts an hour and a half and it is advisable to do it early in the morning to avoid queues for tickets
Cost 12 euros, free EU students.
The car park is not huge, but it is possible to park along the road.
Like many Greek archaeological sites, there is no guide or documentation, only illustrated tables in Greek and English near the relevant things.
The ticket includes entrance to the muzzle and treasure of Atreus, which is worth the 250 meters walk.
Too bad it would have deserved an extra star.
A long history, the must-see attractions on the peninsula
And how did they turn the pebbles into 100 tons, and even uphill?
Highly touristy place which, despite this, is only a shadow of itself, overgrown with weeds
There is an air of another era. Majestic and imposing.
Impressive archaeological site, better to go early before the arrival of the groups if you want to visit it in peace, interesting adjacent museum, ample parking.
This ancient site is impressive and should not be missed during a visit to Peloponnese! Best visiting times are spring and autumn. Since it is not so hot and less tourists (especially coaches) there! Or early in the morning and in the evening. The facility is well maintained and easily accessible with good footwear. The view from up here is also breathtaking!
Hot. Go there in the morning or not the summer! But it was absolutely incredible! The tombs were just amazing!
A classic site indeed. Anyone with any interest in antique history should visit this area. Recommended.
Should be. The museum is not very interesting, but the excavation itself is worth a look.
There is very little left to see in Mycenae but it is worth it only for its history and antiquity ...
This place was incredible. I was able to see the tomb of Menelau for the first time. It was an incredible experience.
The entire fortification wall is called the Cyclopean walls, because, every brick is so big that 'it must have been the giant cyclops who built them'!!! I mean, look at the size of the monolithic lions and the brick under its base.....
Archaeological site where you can visit the city of Mycenae. Nothing so exciting to say the truth, however, if you are passing through because not.
This place was incredible. I was able to see the tomb of Menelau for the first time. It was an incredible experience.
Beautiful places full of history
beautiful places full of history
Be careful with the heat and the sun. There are hardly any shadows. Preferable hat and essential sun protection.
Beautiful and suggestive site, but the path to follow is not well indicated!
