The city, or rather the archeological site, bears witness to the millennial history of Greece. The value of this site for world history and culture is invaluable. By visiting Mikenr, contemporary tourists are introduced to the high level of achievement of people who lived on the soil of Greece thousands of years ago.

A suggestive place that deserves a break
.... if you don't know English before visiting the archaeological site, watch a video on the history and constructions (no audio guide, no flyers ... all the rest written in Greek and German English) so you will better appreciate the all

Here's proof that not only the Egyptians built pyramids, but also the Mycenaeans. Although historically something after the Egyptians, but equally impressive. I found it great there and as someone from a country where you need decades for a Elbphilaharmonie or airport in Berlin, even more impressive. The place is full of history and it is really impressive!

No one visiting the Peloponnese should miss the remains of the ancient city of Mycenae. The history that contains as the nucleus of the Mycenaean civilization, dominant in the continent when the Minoans dominated Crete and the islands. Homeland of Agamenon, protagonist king of Homer's stories. But it should also be noted that the remains of buildings with cyclopean stones are impressive. The door of the Lions, the graves ... It is a unique place.

It was one of the first archaeological sites visited in Greece. Knowing that the insistence of a stubborn German Schliemann who believed in historical truth in Homer's poems brought about a discovery of spectacular burial artifacts is fantastic. It was very nice to have had the opportunity to meet.

Very interesting for me personally. But there is a lack of detailed information, so there is still room for improvement. But if you are in the area, a visit is a must! Historically, with regard to the development of mankind, extremely interesting.

The site is very well maintained. The Lion's Gate is breathtaking. The small but well done museum. Also not to be missed because it is just over an hour from Athens. Also highly recommended for those who love to relax as the site breathes an atmosphere of the past.

Do not miss the 2 tombs, one open and the other still intact but difficult to find in this maze of ruins, a beautiful architecture! As usual very little information, so follow one of the site guides!

From the oldest preserved so good archaeological sites as the city was built in 1200 BC. a very well cared for and large space overlooking the natural hillside. Walking happily through the narrow streets of the whole city. Beautiful and great historical monument. Your Cyclopean walls are awe-inspiring.

It is an archeological site unique only 20 minutes from Nafplio and together with the ticket you enter the treasure of Atreos an exceptional tomb of kings. It is definitely worth the visit.

Must see when visiting the area! An old stronghold/city from one of the first Greek civilizations! Beautiful sculpture above the main gate, that has been there for 3500 years!
Museum is very interesting, it s not too big! Entrance fee is 12 , bit pricy! Free for EU students.

Stunning archeological site. Well organised. Outstanding views. Good info boards around the site. Small museum. Toilets. Cold drinks available to buy at entrance in season. Lots of steep climbing to reach the top.of the citadel but pathways are mostly well surfaced and even. Access to some of the tombs is uneven over large stones. Very exposed site so wear a hat in hot weather. Stunning 360 views so camera/camcorder essential. Ticket includes entry to nearby tomb of Agamemnon/Treasury of Artreus. Fabulous, memorable visit for lovers of Greek history.

I would definitely recommend. For collectors of attractions, it is at least a nice walk with beautiful views of the mountains. For history enthusiasts, this is a great feast. Few objects have survived to this day, most of them are foundations or remains of walls. However, information boards with drawings available in every place give full awareness of how this city (and basically the cradle of culture) once looked and functioned. Admire the engineering craftsmanship of the people of those years who, on a small hill surrounded on three sides by steep canyon walls, could accommodate the entire community - from the king and his court to ordinary craftsmen and merchants. And so is Schliemann's luck, who, guided by scientific stubbornness, has rediscovered this place. 2 hours walking from place to place is the minimum, if you want to say something more about it later than that you were there. A positive "disappointment" is the museum, which, although inconspicuous, contains a huge number of exhibits (in large part copies) found in this area. Add another hour if you still have strength. I recommend it out of season - few people and the price of 6 Euro. You can take something to eat for flocks of hungry dogs and cats in the parking lot;) For yourself too :)

But what to say about this place! Impressive! Awesome energy, awesome views, so much know-how in such playful times! I agree with the lady who observes that "it is good to be with a tour guide in this archeological site. Entrance it would be good to inform that with the same ticket one goes to the tomb of Atreas.
