Fascinating ruins! We were amazed at the sheer size of the walls, the skills of Myceneans (tholos tombs were a feat of engineering) and the history of the place, which remained a landmark throughout antiquity, long after Mycenae had lost its power. Do not miss the descent to the underground water tank in the NW part of the city.

One of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.
Apart from the lion gate and tholos tombs there is little left standing on the site.
There is a small museum of artefacts but it is not made clear what are copies of items in the museum in Athens.

An interesting monument, but I'm afraid it will be liked only by those who have inquired about this civilization in advance. In general, the largest megaliths in structure are very reminiscent of a concrete pathway laid through the complex. It is not difficult to drive up to the complex. Worth a visit for a general understanding.

Wonderful experience. That 4000 years ago people already had such wonderful craftsmanship that, if you may, very few would be capable today ?! What did Christianization in the Middle Ages do with all this wonderful knowledge and skills ...

Place that has an ancestral atmosphere compared to other Greek archaeological sites. It is said that Agamemnon commissioned it to the Cyclops if you go there you will understand why

What is fascinating in this place is the fact that there the Greek myths and history known from the Iliad and Odyssey become almost real. Visiting the place is like looking into the rooms of Helena, Menelaus, and Agamemnon. Well preserved, for their age, devoid of crowds known from Athens. Beautiful views. I would recommend.

A unique historical attraction that must be visited by every Greek and visitor of our country.

The spectacle and the story you can read and see in Mycenae are unique and worth a visit.

It is good to have 1-2 hours at your disposal to enjoy the whole historic monument!

Feel the story here. The Lion Gate lets us into the ruins that are really interesting. I recommend entering the tank - there the air temperature is around 15 degrees.
The museum is also interesting but after the Athenians it is not so impressive. You must visit the Treasury of Arteusz. The craftsmanship of builders arranging stones is respectful.

The entire fortification wall is called the Cyclopean walls, because, every brick is so big that 'it must have been the giant cyclops who built them'!!! I mean, look at the size of the monolithic lions and the brick under its base.....

One of the most important historical places on the map of Greece, but not everyone will be able to appreciate the hill on which the stones are located. Nevertheless, I recommend to go with a guide who will give a lesson in the history of this place.

Forgive me the historian, but apart from the museum and the large gate, there is little left of the settlements ... Too bad, perhaps with a good guide and a good dose of fantasy my personal grade would have been higher

I unexpectedly loved this trip after I tagged along a group day trip. Of course the highlight of this place was the ancient ruins, but the view itself was worth seeing.

Reduced ticket for any non EU university students! I kept my American student ID and got a ticket for 6 .

Not a very big place, but has an interesting history. Helps a lot with having a guide or someone with great knowledge. There are paintings of everything that tells the place history that makes it more vibrant and a smaller museum.
On the way up you will see the walls that made up the city / castle Mykines

A must see sight! It was gorgeous, and the guides were fantastic. The museum was also very neat to see, with plenty of information available that was easy to understand. A great little hike as well, with a breathtaking view.

A pile of stones. Would be much better with a guide I think. The museum was a nice addition but in the end the experience was so-so for the price and in comparison to e.g. Acropolis in Athens. Nice view. Pretty much no shade except in the museum which has AC so try to pick a day when it's not 39C out like it was for us.

The walls if Mycenae are makeups l marvelous. Bring more than enough water with yourself, because there is no drinking water at the whole site. If you run out, you can buy more at the kiosk of the parking ground.

I cannot write anything specific, because when I visited Mycenae on January 1, 2018, it was closed and I could not see anything from the historical sites only what is visible through the fence.

Unfortunately, besides four other cars, we have become the victims of a theft within our 2h stay. The cars were broken up in the parking lot. No cameras or other security measures. Responsible feels neither the police nor the operator. According to police, this happens more often. Caution - do not leave luggage in the car!

There is little left of the great ancient city of Mycenae, but you still have to visit to get an idea of this time period. The museum is very nice and is entirely with artifacts from the ancient city.

Excellent archaeological site, I went there a priori without much enthusiasm, and finally discovering the city of Agamemnon, 3200 years old, it's fascinating and even impressive.
