A must for visitors to the Pelopones, because this is the cradle of our civilization. Mycenae is always well attended and well prepared for tourists with light shoes. A visit is not too strenuous but a bottle of water should be taken with you. Don't forget to visit the Tholos tombs outside and the museum.

Impressive! These huge rocks! Especially when we say that it dates from the 13th century BEFORE Jesus Christ !!! Do not forget to go see the Treasury of Athrea which is located a little further. The entry is valid for both sites, it is 12 . The site is large and worth seeing.

If you are in the area it is a must-visit place. In addition to the tholos tombs and the ancient city whose beauty is unquestionable, the view is also breathtaking. The full ticket costs 12 euros, there is the possibility of free parking.

Interesting place. I especially liked the well restored graves. You get a good impression.
According to the travel guide, one could also have looked at the water supply. Unfortunately, this was cordoned off.

Then we were still in the museum. A lot of artifact and good names.

Great!!

I don't think Mycenae as a historical and mythological place needs any further introduction. The remains of the ancient fortress and the associated tombs are truly breathtaking.
The information boards on site are informative, but a little sparse. It is therefore worth reading a little before visiting.
You should plan your visit as early as possible so that you can enjoy this place undisturbed.
The grave of Klytaimnestra alone, without being able to let other tourists act on you, is definitely worth getting up early.

Rugged hilltop ruins, in a mystic location overlooked by two huge peaks. Good signs. Nice small museum with some well presented finds from the site. Don't skip the tholos (beehive) tombs. If it's open, climb down into the ancient water cistern at the far end of the complex, cut into the rock under the walls.

One of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, one that is definitely worth visiting by both Greeks and foreigners. Spend enough time on this visit and don't miss the Museum of Mycenae.

The fortified citadel that gave birth to the incredible civilization we know is definitely worth a visit. In 2 hours you enter and exit the Porta dei Leoni and the route is extraordinary for historical / archaeological interest and from a landscape point of view. Notable pieces are housed in the adjoining museum. 12 euros for all this and for the Tesoro du Atreo are very few and well spent. Me, my wife and our daughter enjoyed this show on 29th August 2018. Have a good trip to the origins of Europe. And don't hesitate.

The ancient Greek city of Mycenae, southwest of Athens, is known for its massive fortress and tholos, hive-shaped tombs. The stones used to build the city were so large that the Greeks later believed that the city was built by the Cyclops.
