Arrived to the zoo on a Saturday at 2o clock. Found free parking. $20 admission. After going through the whole zoo My family left disappointed, animals weren t out, a lot of empty habitats, trash left in habitats, Hopefully they can get the zoo up and running to match beautiful Colorado. As of now not worth the time, or money. Hot, dried out Texas should be proud to have a nice enjoyable zoo.

Love this place and so do my kids! Better bang for your buck to get a membership and continue to come all year. Every time we go something new is popping up. Waiting for the new tiger exhibit. You can tell they care about the animals as they are always trying to give them plenty of space and better accommodations. It's good they use the money towards the betterment of the zoo. Heard there is a new baby giraffe that we just missed by a couple days... will be going back to see it.
Summer time parking is insane. We had to leave once cuz we could not find anything for 30 mins. They really need to only allow zoo guests to park there. You should pay before going into the parking for the zoo, only way to control it. People park there and then go to the park in the back for the entire day. It is not fair.
Since we have gone back, there are new baby animals everywhere!! So cute :) saw the new tiger exhibit which is much bigger than before. Jurassic park dinosaurs are featured all over the park! So much fun.

Wonderful place for both adults and kids a like. We love bringing our grandchildren with us. The right time a day makes all the difference for the number of animals you will see. We try to get there early in the morning so the kids can see them when most of the animals are active. We can't say enough about how great the staff and the caretakers are there.

I took my niece to the zoo this week for her birthday and was very pleasantly surprised. They are doing a wonderful job with social distancing and I found the crowd to very accepting and respectful to one another. Our favorite stop was the shark and stingray pool! It does cost an additional $5 per person, but we'll-worth it. The staff was extremely helpful helping guide us through the changes all day. I definitely recommend a trip, it helped give us a sense of normalcy even with masks on!

Always a wonderful and pleasant experience. Sometimes over crowded and can be a little pricey. To see the whole zoo plan on a full day (5 hours) of excitement. I'm born and raised right here in Colorado and visit the zoo often. This should be on your must to do list if you live here or just visiting. Park is clean and the staff is very friendly.

Some aspects of this zoo seemed like they could use some renovations. Awesome reptiles, fish, and elephants. Keep your eyes open for tips on sustainability, eco friendly ideas, or how to help global conservation efforts that they present.

Animals seem sad. Granted I'm not an animal expert.. What's pulls at my heartstrings. but we walked up to the reptile exhibit the lady hounded us on food and drink, walked in she mentioned nothing about that the exhibit was closing in 5 minutes so we started looking at the things and then some guy came in was like okay it's close got to leave and shove everybody out. Didn't do it in a really respectful manner. Our whole group was pretty shocked and dismayed at the lack of communication at the front considering we were hounded about food and drink, but she couldn't tell us the exhibit closed in 5 minutes.

I applaud you taking a bull elephant as that was a first class move and extremely difficult. I know they are trying to improve the enclosures but the Snow Leopards, Alligator Snapping Turtle and Matamata Turtle live in deplorable, tiny spaces. These turtles are huge and never move for years. The Matamata Turtle even has heavy moss growing all over its back it moves so little. Maybe move the snow leopards into the old tiger enclosure, PLEASE help these animals!

Amazing zoo. Free parking lots of exhibits and animals at this Zoo. food is relatively expensive but you can bring your own. Plan the whole day, as it is a very large zoo and they have shows throughout the day.

Went for zoo lights. Only certain sections had lights. There wasn't a clear path to follow the lights. Lots of dead ends. They ran out of hot chocolate at multiple locations within an hour or two. They were charging $6-9 for a cup of hot chocolate. It was gross. Watered down and just warm, not hot. Funnel Cakes & Churros were too crispy. They were fried for too long or microwaved too long. Food must have been sitting out because it was handed to you right after ordering. Hot chocolate cups were already filled and just sitting behind the counter. Not a great experience. I'd go to the botanic gardens instead.

Although I struggle (ethically) with the concept of zoos in some ways, I love having a local place to bring my children to see the incredible animals from all over the world. The Denver zoo is very accessible, including financially accessible, as they accept the 5x5 card (given to head start families) and give highly discounted $1 tickets to EBT (food stamp) recipients. The animals generally seem happy and taken care of. This past visit, it was especially fun to see the hippo playing with a large ball in the pool.

The zoo is great, but a lot of construction going on. Warm day so the animals aren't as active, but you couldn't see a lot of them. Main animals weren't visible at all... bears, tigers, lions.

Wanted to give a shout out to the employee (likely the manager) who went over to the other side of the zoo on Monday to fetch me a hat I saw (but didn't buy thinking it would also be at the store near the exit). Super friendly person - went way above and beyond on a very hot day. Thank you so much!

Heh excellent place to bring a sandwich with rum, and laugh at the millenials spending their money on that Starbucks. Sit on a bench and watch them irresponsible young parents lose sight of their kids and have bozo the ape play with them in his pond. Don't worry mam the kids in better hands now. Keep chugging that cat feces.

Beautiful landscaping throughout zoo. Abundant opportunities to see animals such as elephants, giraffes, sea lions and penguins, and indoor spaces with warmer climates to view sea life and birds. Carousel for the kids and even drinks for the parents.

Reliably an enjoyable day out for the kids. Not too big that small feel can t make it walking all day. Fun and interesting shows to keep things interesting and plenty of knowledgeable volunteers to provide information about the animals.

The layout is great, made it hard to realize it wasn't a very big zoo. Walked through it by myself in 2 1/2 hours & that included me reading most of the info plaques about the animals.

Great staff there help to continual elevate the experience as visitors there. There seems to be a lot of shifting around and quite a bit less animals than in the past. It would be nice and helpful to have some idea about why that is and what the zoo's plans are. A little more transparency would make this 5/5 for me.

Decent food for a place like the zoo. Fun atmosphere and good exhibits, especially the newer Asian tropics area. You can also feed the giraffes if you plan ahead and don't mind waiting in line.

Had a great day at the Denver zoo! Lovely and unique exhibits with a nice variety of animals. The grounds were well kept and I liked the signs that had the animal's name on them. The STL zoo has set the bar high for me but I was really impressed here and home to come back.

Buy your tickets online, save money! Crazy busy during Spring Break! Nearly run over by strollers multiple times and parents not minding their young. (Keep an eye on your path at all times.) Exhibits were a little messier than expected, but animals seem in good health. Be prepared to wait in line for everything: entrance, food, restroom, looking at an animal, etc... Typical overpriced zoo food and drinks. Some cute shirts and hats in the gift shop by the entrance, very nice employees. Overall a nice place to be outside with friends and family, but be prepared to be crowded and run over.

Visited zoo for the night lights. Sold out event and I can see why. The whole place was covered in lights, it was amazing. They had some indoor exhibits open, lovely places to warm up. Over all if I am ever back in Denver In December I would be back forsure.

This zoo is amazing! It took me around 2 hours to walk around and take a look to all of the animals they have. They are still working in more exhibitions, and rhinos. Take comfortable shoes, a cap or umbrella, water, and enjoy your visit!!

My wife and I are from out of town and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Denver zoo. There are tons of animals, they put on shows at different times of the day (we went to the sea lion show which was short and fun to watch) and overall great atmosphere! It didn't smell nearly as bad as other zoo's we've visited before. Would visit again!

Great place for kids and family cool gift shop plenty of Animals the only problem is the whole mask thing and they're also corralling you to maintain social distancing 0% local wildlife of the state of Colorado everything is from Africa and there's a line for the reptile house which is the best part of any Zoo. They do carry Car Camper Beer on tap though so the day wasn't completely lost

I have enjoyed the zoo immensely over the last 4 decades, but this last Saturday, my wife and I took our grand kids, and were very disappointed. After paying $200 for admission and lunch, we walked the zoo for several hours to find that about 70% of the animals were not out for display. The only cat we saw was a single cheetah...many exhibits/enclosures were empty. We saw few of the primates, cats, bears, etc. After driving for 90 minutes each way, we felt we could have showed a grand kids a much better time-they were very disappointed as well. On top of this, we were approached twice for additional donations to the zoo...after this experience, we feel we have made our donation!
