Just a fantastic culinary experience. My wife and I have gone out of our way to eat here pre-theater several times. Today, my wife had the endive salad which was so fresh and flavorful. For her main she had the seared duck breast. She said it was one of the best duck dishes she ever had. I started with the arancini. So good! The fried parsley is such a great ingredient. Finally, I had the papardelle with mushrooms which was delicious and perfectly cooked. If you're anywhere near here, we highly recommend trying this place.

Ate at he bar and the bartender was very nice and friendly. The food was tasty and the portion size was right for us, though a bit small for the price.
Delicious! This was our first visit, we enjoyed the short ribs and the bass. Both were prepared beautifully. The portions were perfect and the service was wonderful. We hope to be back because although tempted by the menu, we just couldn't find room for desserts.
Awesome quality food. Well worth the 10 mins walk from Times Square. Wines are great too. Sat on deck by the chef on a hot summer night...which was a bit warm, but otherwise perfect experience.
I love this place! A bit outside of meatpacking, this little italian gem is to die for. A small restaurant, with a nice staff and a little menu where everything is good. The pastas are just great and the appetizers as well. The squid pasta were just crazy. Also, the wine selection is very nice and the staff very knowledgeable. Would recommend for a date or a small party.
Eh. This place at 6pm when its not even busy won't let you sit down until your whole party is there even if you want to start ordering appetizers. Got the bruschette. Nothing special. Got the arugula salad. Literally a huge plate of lettuce with lemon dressing and a tad of shaved parmesan. Had to ask for more. We didn't even eat it. Got the orchiette pasta, had no flavor really, very bland. I tasted a friends steak, that was delicious. Got the carrot cake dessert, it wasn't that great but I was just still hungry so I ate it all. I would not come back here. My friend says L'Artusi, the sister restaurant is much better. Maybe I'd try there.
A cozy Italian restaurant situated in West Village, dell'anima serves one of the better brunches available in this neighborhood. Come earlier to avoid the waits and the clamor, and opt for any of the dishes on their compact menu. The French Toast is generously portioned, and served with cranberries and pear slices and flecked with a sprinkling of confectioners' sugar. Their signature pasta, the Tajarin Alla Carbonara, is served with pecorino, speck, and an egg yolk on-top, which makes for a rich, hearty meal. Solid plates and welcoming service make it a place to frequent.
This is still a delicious restaurant run by the chef of the former dell'anima restaurant in the West Village. Food is really just as good, but know before going that you are not in a restaurant any more but in a food hall. It's very very hot in the summer and sitting at the counter it can get a bit tight with people passing behind on their way to the ice cream stand or trying to find a place to sit with their burger. There are also some picnic-type tables if you can't get a seat at the counter. I would and will definitely go back, and knowing better what to expect I'm sure I'll like it even better. It is a bit pricey for the setting, but on the upside since you are at the counter you can usually flag down someone if you need anything.
I'm torn between with how many stars to give, because I very much like the food and the server was very nice, but the price and the room are a bit of a disconnect to me.
One of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten at. The uni spaghetti was amazing, topped with peekytoe crab. the scrambled egg bruschette was to die for. grilled octopus... the meal, the dining room, the neighborhood - all of it was beautiful. places like this make me miss new york.
Great for dates! You can sit outside at small tables and enjoy the great neighborhood of greenwich. They have a pretty nice wine selection and from time to time fresh truffles and stuff like that. It's open kitchen and they have a nice bar as well. Friendly and patient service. There are still some little things missing, e.g. served old bread without balsamic vinegar. Great for dates and small groups.
While the pastas here are pretty much to die for (especially the Carbonara), don't pass on the duck. It's up there with one of best duck dishes we've had.
Before I moved to New York, this was the one restaurant I always HAD to visit when I was in town. I found them completely by accident while attending a convention at the Javits; they came up as a highly-rated Italian restaurant on google maps. Since google reviews were why I found this amazing little restaurant in the first place, I feel compelled to post one of my own.
There is no experience quite like sitting at the counter watching the chefs prepare your meal to order, seeing the care and effort that goes into making these dishes--and the smells are incredible. Every time I come I discover a new dish I want to try. But I have to say that so far, my favorites are the brussels sprouts (yum!), the octopus, the branzino, and the bucatini.
When the pandemic started, I saw that dell'anima was selling gift cards with the proceeds going to benefit the staff, and immediately grabbed one even though at the time I was living in Pennsylvania; I knew I'd use it as soon as I was back in the city. And now that I've moved here, the first place I ordered delivery from was--you guessed it--dell'anima. And the food is just as great delivered as it is when it's prepared right in front of you.
It was introduced in NHK, and I recommended you to go to NY! As it is a food court, you can order on the spot and go to a vacant seat, and I think it is safe to eat at the counter. We ate at the counter because this was the goal. I ordered a pasta with orecchini (in the shape of an earlobe), a husband carbonara, and an octopus antipasto. The food of the octopus seems to be ordered well. As it is only recommended today, orecchini is sour and refreshing, I ate with Perori! Carbonara was also delicious with bacon crispy. Besides the food, the friendliness of the clerk was good. If you tell your waiter that you can't speak English, it's all right! It was said that he introduced me to the self-introduction and the person in charge of cooking carefully over the counter. I have two beer, two cups of wine, two pasta dishes, one plate of antipasto with octopus (just for two people), and it is about 6000 yen per person (including chips). At the end I got along very well with my waiter Tony. Even if you can only speak a few words, you can talk with the locals happily, it is a recommended place for those who want delicious wine and food.
This place is a treasure! Located inside Gotham Market. Started with a Jai Alai IPA. Arugula salad is so light and fresh! Brussels Sprouts are heavenly, with a mild sweetness and accented with dried cranberries. We tried three pasta entrees, each has its own uniqueness. All wonderful. There are so many more items we want to try. I want to go back there soon!
Thrilled about the new location at Gotham Market! The carbonera is just as good as I remember it and the new Cajun style chicken is epically flavorful and juicy. This Lord Hobo wheat beer is very unique - particularly for any wheat beer aficionados. No dessert but Ample Hills ice cream is directly behind you.
Top notch pasta, excellent wine, and consistently wonderful service. Just note that the restaurant has an open kitchen, and when I have sat in the back of the restaurant near the cooking area, I have sometimes gone home smelling like I was the one doing the cooking. I don't really care, but some people may.
This was such an unfortunate experience. After waiting 50 minutes for our simple brunch order while others who were seated after us were paying their bills, we left without eating.
I heard about this restaurant by reading a profile of one of my favorite baseball players. It was mentioned that this is his favorite restaurant in NY to dine in. Since I am a big fan of the team he plays on as well, I wanted to give this place a try. Me and my wife decided to come here and make it a date night. I was a little nervous because my wife usually not convinced with my choice of restaurants. She agreed to come with me because: 1) I really wanted to come here and try the food. 2) She did her research online by reading reviews and by looking at pictures and description of the menu items. The ambiance was nice, small, cozy, romantic and not crowded. It looks like it is a couples friendly restaurant. Most importantly, the food was fantastic! Everything on the menu we ordered from the appetizers to desserts tasted very delicious. Even my wife was impressed and loved the food! It was so good that this is, in my opinion, hands down, the BEST Italian restaurant in NYC and the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten in. It was even better than any restaurant we ate at when we were in Italy for our honeymoon! However, there is one minor drawback...they are not generous with the portion size for the price we paid. This is why I had to deduct one star from this review. Guys, if you have a girl or a wife you want to impress, bring them here and they will love you forever :)
Good food, heavy on the seasoning/salt side, appetizers > entrees, good space for parties of 2-4 people.
Ambiance: Dim, busy, loud but not too loud. Tables are very close to one another, 8~10inches apart.
Food: Had 2 apps, BONE MARROW and CHARRED OCTOPUS; 2 entrees TAJARIN ALLA CARBONARA and RISOTTO ALLA PILOTA; Red Wine suggested by our server. The Bone Marrow stole the show, being our favorite dish of the dinner. Everything else was good as well, though we both felt the entrees had a lot of flavor but were just a tad bit too seasoned/salty. Portion size is about 2 fists for the entrees.
Service: Made reservations through OpenTable ~26hrs prior to dining, it says to call 48hrs ahead to confirm but I forgot, table still waiting when we arrived. Coat service available. Our server was nice and the food did not take long to come out.
Amazing food, intimate experience. The location is in a communal dining hall, so highly recommend getting a.spot at the Chef's Counter. Fantastic appetizers and pastas. The bone marrow and octopus appetizera are totally worth it, as is pretty much every pasta. Love this spot !
One of my favorite NY restaurants and in the top two for Italian. Expertly prepared pastas, fresh ingredients and a small but warm West Village atmosphere. Chef's table is fun.
This place was great! This is a nice, cozy and romantic restaurant and a great date spot. The heirloom tomatoes we're excellent! The charred octopus was really good! The Bruchetta was good, but the toppings weren't on the bread. The toppings were in bowls and you had to add them to the bread. They were pretty tasty. The tagletelle bolognese disappointed and lacked flavor. Overall it was a thumbs up.
Good food and good staff. Just food portion was smaller than expected. They have funny policy as well. You need to order every food at beginning. They said it's kitchen policy. I was wondering if we were not order enough food and wanted eat more, what we can do.
