CHSP is an absolute gem. It's a great campground with a lot of fun things to do. The beaches are really nice and the campground is always clean. We've been going here for over 12 years.

Beautiful campground lots of history. Friendly and helpful people well kept bath houses!!
Best place in the area for vacations. Family friendly. Nice trails, nice staff, nice campgrounds. Dogs are authorized in campground, can be a bit noisey.
I love the views, bike trails, wildlife, and people-watching.
Most people who wrote these reviews only did a small part of the park. Try going camping with the whole family with pets and you will get a different view. We went camping there this weekend and will never go back. We arrived Friday evening and by Saturday evening the entire family was ready to go home. Sure the beach is nice, clean, with clear blue green water and the history is always good and if I was a tourist, I would have been fine with that. I am about really enjoying an area with the family. A huge problem was the sites and the campground. You cannot put your camper or popup on the site. You have to park on the street and every person gets to peek into your camper. The sandy sites are full of 'Black Sand'. It is from the ashes of the campfire and is a nasty dirty mess that get on and over everything. Disgusting. Covered by broken wood and glass. I picked my site specifically to keep some privacy, but when we arrived, we noticed that they just finished building an new bath house directly behind my site that was not on any map. Spent two nights blinded by the light and the sound of 8 doors slamming shut. It is the stupidest bathroom every designed. A 10cfm fan is all the ventilation these bathrooms get. Imagine this: It's summertime. You waited 15 minutes to go pee because they closed the older restroom. The person before just took a crap and then a shower and now you walk in. Imaging the stench and humidity levels. A germ factory. After that we spent an hour going over maps, rules and the internet trying to figure out whether there was an area to take the dogs to the beach. Decided that and area just north of the surf fishing area was legal. Packed up the wagon and family and started the 1/2 hour walk to get to the trail head that leads to the beach and after seeing many signs that no pets were allowed in any area or nature walk, they also added a sign at the dunes that no pets were allowed there anymore during the summer. The beach had six people on it. We cannot leave the at the campsite or the car, or walk anywhere except for the highway where people do 50 in a 15mph zone. It is a huge beautiful park that will never live up to its potential and will never see us, unless I want to cough up $160 for a beach permit to go fishing. We left early. That is a record. I have never, in 25 years of camping in various states, left early. It was a 3 hour drive and I was home by noon. It is always dark. We take in the sites for the rest of day after packing up. Not here. I read of some families coming here every year since they were kids. They must have never seen anything except for the public swimming area where I know no pets are allowed.
Great beaches in Delaware, and quite a number that are pet friendly
Expect them to all be busy, especially in August, and parking can be a problem. Overall a great time.
This is a truly beautiful spot. On the Atlantic side, you can see dolphins, porpoises, piping plovers, sand pipers, gulls, terns, and more. On the bay side, you have mud flats with snails, clams, horseshoe crabs, flounder... And there are the lighthouses and breakwaters. It's fragile, so stay off the dunes that are marked off. Pay your fee to get in and consider it a donation.
I remember the days when one could walk all around the Cape, a lovely 3 mile walk. This isn't possible now, as part of the beach front has to be protected from humans and dogs.
I suggest going to the Atlantic side in the late afternoon, enjoy the surf, then go over to the Bay side to watch the sunset. You will be really hungry, so have plans for seafood!
This was a gorgeous beach to go to on a holiday weekend. The park is has a lot more to do than just the beach, including biking, walking trails, basketball courts, and bird watching. It costs 10 dollars to get into the park but then you can go anywhere. The beach was clean, there were lifeguards, and the best part in my opinion, not too crowded. I hate super crowded beaches and this wasn't a packed out place especially during a holiday weekend. There's also bathrooms and wash areas which is a major plus if you're sandy and have a long drive home
Very cool military observation tower in this peaceful park

Love driving on the beach ! Great place for sunrises & sunsets.
Loved it & really enjoyed being able to have the suburban on the beach!
Very nice little beach can get crowded and the the bathrooms are quite terrible for having to pay an admittance price
I have visited this beautiful State Park for many years. I always leave in awe.
Went specifically for the trails.
Thought it was paved.
NOPE.
It's a loose, sandy gravel. Very messy, very hard to stay itn track. If it were dirt or grass, it would be alot better traction wise....
Wanted to ride the elevated bridge. Didn't know there was access from the other side!
I gave up before even reaching it...
It's a beautiful area tho.
It's awesome. What a treat to have this in our home state!
This park is next to the beach, it has kilometers of beautiful landscapes. Children really enjoy being in this place. There are also some good waves to surf. In the "Seaside Nature Center" they have a nice variety of animals from the area to see very closely. It is an incredible place where you can see deer very close and the beach is beautiful.
Fall is one of the better times of the year to go. Less people there.
Nice state park with beautiful beaches! A great place to find shells!
Perfect! The park is magnificent, and the beach, HEAVEN ON EARTH
Beautiful nature location. Walking and biking avail. Historic site, near more touristy beaches.
Nice for walking and biking. Beach has no lifeguards. On your own.
Not so busy but it was a Monday. Got to see Dolphins feed and beach was beautiful!
Beautiful place!
Beach and facilities are great as well!!!!!
Beautiful beach and the property and bathrooms and showers are very clean. Can't wait to go back again!
Beautiful campground. Best of both worlds, camping and beach access. We also loved the pier beach.
Gordons Pond trail to Rehobeth and back is a great ride.
We come here more for camping and the bike paths but the beach is nice too. The observation tower is always fun to climb. The beach gets a bit crowded but there are bathrooms, showers and refreshments in case you don't want to bring a lot of food.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The park was very mellow and relaxing but also new and modern at the same time. I can't hear a few days while on my walk down the Delaware and Maryland Coasts. I had stated Delaware Seashore State Park a couple days before and it was loud and basically just a parking lot so I was very excited to get to Cape Henlopen. It was amazing coming from Rehoboth Beach. The campground has an amazing nature trail that you can walk or bike with spectacular views of water and Marsh land. I really appreciated that the campground had a store that was open several hours a day that you could buy a few groceries and drinks. I also took advantage of the laundry room. They also have the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen in a state Campground. Instead of the usual shared bathrooms and showers they have individual rooms that each contain a toilet a sink and shower that is yours. Looking forward to returning some day.
Perfect park for kite flying. Nice beach & spots for walks. There's frisbee golf, too!
great trails connecting Rehoboth to Lewes took my 9yr old daughter biking there very scenic and an easy ride
The campsites are much smaller now. You used to be able to easily fit 4 couples in a site. Now you are lucky to fit two couples. Nice remodel work, sad to say this will be my last time here
The staff is amazing btw. Really bummed about the site space
Wonderful location. I actually stayed in the barracks as a child with a group. Everything is well kept and beautiful Was slightly disappointed the gift shop didn't sell drinks of any sort but water fountains were available.
Pet friendly park with really nice trails leading to Rehoboth and nice beaches. The only bad experience we had was our last visit which involved a large group that was extremely loud even as late as 12pm. I don t know if the quiet hours are really enforced. Also this last time we had to leave because the mosquitoes were so bad that we couldn t stay outside. We only had this problem once and the park is definitely worth checking out
beautiful views alot of walking room in a wooded setting. camping also.
Beautiful park and beach but not enough public bathrooms and very long access walks to the beach, not recommended for the elderly or those that cannot walk well. Only one ramp for wheelchairs.
It does not get much better than Cape Henlopen! Bike riding trails, beaches, bird and nature watching, and all sorts of history as the park was once a military installation. The nature center is top notch, views from the point are unbeatable, and the campground is as good as it gets in a state park.
Love Gordon Pond beach! Plenty of parking and easy access to beach. $10 park fee for out of state vehicles.
Great place to explore. You have the bay, ocean and towers to climb. Camping is a little crowded. Quest kayak will deliver to the park and offers great tours.
Cramp camping sites. The park is wonderful to explore from strolling along its long beaches, visiting the remnants of post WWII fortifications, and a variety of trails through sandy pines and marshes. HOWEVER the camp site for tents was disappointing. Each site is very close together, with parking limited to one car per site. There is overflow parking 1/2 mile away. The close proximity of the camp sites (within 15 feet of each other) greatly diminishes the tranquil experience of true camping. The support facilities, such as a camp store and showers are very good. Come here for the day but don't come here for camping.
Tons of trails and vast historical sites to visit! There is a reasonable parking fee to get in that go towards park preservation and maintenance. Access to both the ocean and the bay within the park and miles and miles of trails to choose from. This is a great place to excersices or hang out with family and friends.
My first experience camping in one of their cabins. It was one of the best experiences ever. We did arrive after dark and it was a little difficult getting to the checkin place. We got lost. The beach is in walking distance and was so quiet. We walked to the beach before sunrise and it was such a relaxing experience. I would definitely recommend here. Maybe next time, I will be brave enough to try tent camping.
Love Cape Henlopen State Park the trails are well kept, I ride my bike there there every day . And the rules are followed
I love the beaches. You can shower after you get off the beach at the pavilion.
I've camped here as well. They have hiking and biking trails.
They have a pier you can walk out on extending into the bay side.
There are tide pools on the bay side at low tide. It caters to the scientific, adventurous mind. I looked every time I go just to see what I can see.
Lower your tire pressure to 20 psi. Too many people will just laugh at you. Luckily I had a stud come up to me after I got stuck in the sand and came to help. Dug me put and educated me. I was lucky. Most people just look and laugh
Nice place for hiking and camping
P.S. be careful while walking.

We go here primarily for the two shorelines next to the main fishing pier. If you calculate the tide schedule correctly, you can hit this place during low tide and it is a great place to have kids play. Since it's the bay, the waters are calm and especially with the sea lice infestation that happened along the ocean beaches this past week, the water are devoid of any of those pests.
what a great place to go to take your family a day in the sun great fishing one of the best places in Delaware to catch you some spot croaker sea trout and flounder
Cute little shop, I would recommend visitors, I wanted to buy the store :)
Amazing park, beautiful sightseeing area to be in. Love the whole atmosphere!!!
One of the best state parks I have ever been too, It s beautiful, has an awesome beach, very clean, lots of walking and biking trails, historic landmarks, and beautiful Rolling sand dunes. This has to be on your top 5 to do things list if on the peninsula or generally on the east coast!
Always enjoy going to there to see the history and the deer spinning around freely around dusk
Great. We went to see the joining of the 2 planets. The look out was perfect.
The park itself well kept as always. You could tell, even in the dark. Roads were clear, no leaves, no branches etc. Everyone that was there seemed as pleased as we were. Thanks Cape Henlopen.
It's a nice park with several nice things to do. Most interesting, to me anyway, is Fort Miles. There's an open bunker from WWII that you can go though and a watch tower. Lots of history. (Additional charge for the bunker) there is also nice beach and a nature center and bike trails. Things were restricted somewhat and hours vary right now for to pandemic. Check out their website to verify things. One thing to note .... And there cause of the 4 stars... Not much in the way of a picnic area.... We were looking for a table just to have a quick sandwich lunch and had to use a large pavilion. Probably couldn't do that on a weekend.
OUTSTANDING BEACH!!! Won't go anywhere else. Clean beach, clean bathroom/shower house. Nice FAMILY beach!
Wonderful state park. My wife and I are from Pennsylvania and e get the annual Delaware State Park pass just for this park. We go about 10 times a year. Get a vehicle beach tag for yourself if you enjoy surf fishing. Clean and there are very friendly rangers working here.
Wide white sand beach. Plenty of parking after $5 in-state or $10 out of state entrance fee. There is vendor that will rent chairs and beach umbrellas to you.
Quiet campsites with electric and water. It is very close to the beach as well. Also, bathrooms and showers are nearby as well as a general store.
Go early, and have your own private beach for awhile.
A favorite haven. Don't forget that our State Parks and Beaches are "carry-in carryout" that means LEAVE NOTHING behind....nothing. There are NO trash cans or receptacles by design. Please take all of your trash with you when you leave. Thank you.
Pretty good deal for a good day at the beach. $10 gets you parking, nature trail with plenty of wildlife, and a great beach access.
Nice beach area with lifeguards. Has a central building that has food, chair and umbrella rentals and a changing/shower area. The only negative is that they do not have garbage cans by the central building so if you have several people in your party you'll be putting a lot of lunch garbage in your car for the afternoon.
Quiet, natural beach with great biking and hiking trails!
