Disappointing. Rooms dated and first night s room was actually unclean. Took 2 hours to get clean sheets brought up to us to replace bed that was not changed from last guest and we had to make it ourselves at 11pm at night. Property under construction and wasn't told. Food and service is good but expensive. Not worth what is charged.

I can't say enough good things about the way Deerhurst is managed - they have the BEST staff! Special thanks to Tim and Ray who fixed my flat tire onsite!!!!!! That was a big headache and they took care of it within an hour - honestly so lovely! And staff onsite were helpful when I was carrying many bags, there was someone getting a trolley for me. I also loved the texting system they do to let you know when your room is ready (early by request). Such great service and such a beautiful place! I highly recommend :)

I have stayed here years ago as a child with my family and it was great but recently we went for a wedding at this resort for a 2 night stay. We were not impressed to say the least. For starters, we upgraded (or what were were told was an upgrade) to the suites with a kitchenette. The room was renovated and clean but the room smelt like urine. We did mention this but the resort was booked and they couldn't offer a new room. Fine, we lived with it. There was no room service available during the day and only one restaurant was open (the pub on the lower level). My partner was in the wedding party so I had the entire morning and the first part of the afternoon to myself. I wanted to eat lunch but there was nothing open except the pub and they wouldn't allow me to do take out. I was in the middle of getting ready and I wanted lunch. This was an issue as I couldn't get any food and the drive to town was 12mins away and I had no time for that. I even checked the convenience store on the premise. They had some ready made sandwiches that I saw the night before while passing by, but there was one egg salad sandwich left and it was expired by 3 days!! I was running out of time. I was told I could only sit in and eat at the pub. I asked if I could just sit then ask for a take out container and I was told I wasn't allowed. Forced to eat in quickly, I took a few bites then asked for the bill and take out container...My server didn't have an issue doing this but apparently the two hostess did... I wasted a good 30mins running around the resort asking front desk what was opened for food and being told wrong information before I finally sat down at the pub. The various restaurants all had working staff passing me by or ignoring me and no one was willing to say they were closed or even acknowledged me when I tried to get their attention. Moving on...at the wedding, our table was served moldy bread! 4 Baskets came out with moldy buns! Our friends spent a fortune on this wedding. We didn't mention it to them, but that was just unbelievable and unacceptable! The main course (I had the beef with bacon wrapped around it) one of the portions was so rare that it was cold and the bacon wasn't even cooked as if it came straight from the package and the other was so over cooked that it was hard as a rock and the bacon was burnt! The place is overall nice and they have done some renovations but we were disappointed overall with the restaurant staff, the knowledge of the front desk staff (however they were very nice) and the catering or kitchen service for the wedding was completely unacceptable. The breakfast was no good either...the only thing that looked and tasted fresh was the omelette station, otherwise everything at the giant buffet looked and tasted like it came from a box, was previously frozen or was some sort of powdered mixture or left overs from the past few days. The meats also tasted very stale or very hard..breakfast sausages should be soft and bacon should be crispy...not rock hard or hard and chewy...all this for $60 for 2 people for breakfast!! The resort should have all restaurants open all the time, or at least have room service available 24/7 considering the price of a room per night, especially in the middle of June! Nice place to play golf though or bring your kids for the pool or the various activities they offer. Personally, we won't be going back here.

Great Staff. Very mindful of the Pandemic situation and the Guests willingness to have a good time. Rooms were clean. We had booked 3 bedroom cottage. One problem was that it was carpeted and we forgot that our 13 year old son had carpet allergies. Should have informed the staff earlier.

Deerhurst Resort
We spent a weekend at Deerhurst Resort to celebrate my wife s 39th birthday.
When we arrived and they showed us to our room it was not what we expected or wanted, we requested an upgrade and they were so accommodating they upgraded us to one of the condos. It was absolutely beautiful with a stunning view overlooking the lake. Our weekend was absolutely amazing. We went to the shows, the amazing Mother s Day buffet,we enjoyed every moment we spent there, made beautiful memories to last us a lifetime and we will cherish those moments forever, our son had a great time as well. All the staff was very pleasant and accommodating to our requests. We give Deerhurst Resort a rating of 10.

Beautiful condo- a week ago we booked 2 bed room condo with 2 washrooms it had all the facilities from kitchen to washroom to living room to bedroom and nice view from balcony. We were 3 couples we decided to choose 2 bed rooms condo as with 3 bed room condo it's just 2 bathrooms only which doesn't make much sense.
Good points: kitchen has all the amenities and utensils so we don t have to bring ours but it s not mentioned on website or anywhere in description
Negative points: in living room does not have smart tv so it doesn t have any apps such as Netflix and YouTube so we brought our HDMI cable and laptops ( workaround )
- Doors weren t able to lock we called a guy but due to lack of staff they said they won t be able to fix it
About activities: they have all the activities mentioned on website such as below:
- skiing
- skating
- Pool
- Movies
- Rock climbing
- gym
- ranting movies facilities
and all are impressive
However, lighting and decoration was missing outside of premises it's a great property construction everywhere which doesn't make you feel safe
But one thing bothers me is about skating is a group has to go 15-20 mins away from the main location
Having said that our overall experience was really good with hot tub and pool services

Booked in advance for Mother's Day brunch and was charged an automatic 18% gratuity. While the decor is dated, the dining room is large with a great view. The buffet was nice with multiple options; overall the food was good. While our server was nice, she was never around. We had to clear our own plates and refilled our own coffee. Had to ask twice for a water refill. We could have overlooked that if brunch wasn't $45 per person plus that built-in gratuity!

They first checked us into one of their different buildings which was super inconvenient but we went back and they gave us a room in their main building. Restaurant didn't have the greatest selection. Pillows should have a variety of both hard and soft. It was hard to fall asleep and woke up with a sore neck.

The room was great, everyone was kind, and the restaurants were wonderful. Tried two of the four restaurants on site, and have previously had the brunch buffet. I've yet to have a bad meal. There are also lots of activities like wall climbing, escape rooms, and a beautiful waterfront to enjoy.

The resort has or can coordinate everything you need for a lovely vacation. I was expecting the styling to be somewhat more current but it is very much in line with their Muskoka theme. The staff were all tremendously polite and helpful.

This is my first visit to Deerhurst. We chose this place because we were coming up to visit our grandchildren in the winter, so we were looking for a place with indoor activities suitable for young children. The resort had a special "holiday play room" for Christmas holidays. It included several bouncy castle/slides, toys etc. It was a big hit with the kids and with their parents. The large pool area with a good sized pool, hot tub and wading pool was also a big hit with everyone. There were many other activities too that we didn't have time to do ( a small play/climbing room for kids under 10), an arcade withdrawal redemption machines (buy tokens to play). An activity schedule with free things like crafts to paid things like a build a stuffed animal and wall/rock climbing room. They also had outdoor activities available such as the free nature hike or skating, to the paid petting zoo and pony rides. Overall I thought the place was a good value since it provided a clean, comfortable room to sleep in and all the activities we needed to entertain the kids. I will point out that the website's room descriptions were somewhat vague about the layout of the resort and the location of the rooms. Room locations are described in proximity to "The Pavilion", but if you don't know what The Pavilion is, it isn't much help. It turns out that the Pavilion is the main building that houses the reception area, pools, play area, arcade, restaurants, etc. Our room was in "The Bayshore". It is a separate building that you could walk to from The Pavilion if it was a nice summer day. In other weather you will probably want to drive between buildings or call for a shuttle. The Bayshore building was not fancy, bit more than adequate. In the summer it would have a lovely view across a small bay. In winter it looked out on snow covered grounds and deer were grazing outside our window one night. The room was a good size. The beds were comfortable. The linens were clean and white. The bathroom is on the small side, but it was adequate. There was a bar of hand soap, hair conditioner, and a combo shampoo and body wash, but that was it. No extras - not even lotion (or pen or paper or sewing kit or shower cap, etc.) I was surprised by that considering the cost of the room and the star rating of the hotel, but we made do, and it wouldn't stop me from booking here again - I'd just be sure to bring my own moisturizer next time! If it was just us adults staying here, I would have been a little disappointed that there was no adult time in the pool area. I always enjoy a quiet soak in the hot tub, but it was packed with adults and kids right up to closing time (10pm). I'd prefer an extra hour added on for adults only. All in all, I enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider this hotel in the future whenever we have kids to entertain! Oh, I also like that you can checkout at 11am bit still use the facilities for the rest of the day. Nice touch! They'll even store your luggage while you play!

We booked a two-night stay in January. There was a special on so we didn't pay as much as we might have. There were only a small number of rooms left available at that time. The staff at the check-in we're friendly. They answered all of our questions and checked us in quickly. The room was in a different building, a one-minute drive from the main building. The room was spacious and clean, and looked out onto a small frozen lake where we saw deer crossing in the evening (building #1). We met family the next day and brought them in for swimming in the recreation area. Everything went well and there were no issues. We would definitely stay there again.

I stayed as a guest of one of the timeshare owners. The grounds are unfortunately marred by a several year long condo project, & many of the amenities seemed lacking, or in disrepair (eg: few loungers that were not broken, no umbrellas for shade, etc). Regardless, we did have a good time.

Almost everything you would want in one place. Lots of activities. Indoor and outdoor pools. Tennis and basketball court. Golf course. Arcade games (you'll need to schedule beforehand to visit and there is a limited time to use the area). Access to the lake with paddle boats, row boats, zipline water skiing, fishing, etc. Lots of places for hiking within the resort. A horse stable is available if you want to ride. The steak restaurant was closed but the resort is about 10 to 15 minutes drive to downtown where you can choose from a lot of restaurants, groceries, LCBO and Beer Store, gas stations, etc.
There is no towel service and bedding changes but there is a laundry area. The kitchen has a personal fridge, dishwasher, convection microwave oven, induction stove. The room has a fireplace, central air conditioning, 2 cable TVs, a strong internet connection not to mention a common room outside that has seating areas and more TVs.
This is a great place to be for relaxation and to just get away from it all.

Booked a room on the phone the guy said it was the best 600$ for a night. Very outdated ceiling in bathroom was full of mound. Once we got there the cieling in the bathroom started leaking really bad covered the floor with water. We called someone immediately to get it fixed he came repaired the leak left a mess everywhere from opening up the ceiling all over the towels. We had to call twice to get someone to come clean it up. Still left the dirty towels but moped the floor. Room was dated old not worth 600$ for a night.

I have a yearly membership for the gym and pool. It's great. Just wish they could go a little less on the weekends with the chlorine in the pool. They could use some updates on the change rooms in the near future but I go daily for fitness and it does the job nicely at this location. Much more private than large gyms and a hot soak after workouts to loosen up your muscles.

We've stayed here twice now and both times were very happy with the rooms and our views. We were a little disappointed because there was a private function going on and they had rented the pool area from 9-11. Our choice to stay here was due largely to the amenities so I feel this should have been noted when we booked. The pub onsite closes at 9:30 which I also felt was way too early; we felt rushed. The shuttle driver that drove us around the resort was fantastic! We would definitely go back but would inquire prior to booking about any private functions or reduced amenities.
What a wonderful winter escape.
What a wonderful winter escape.
We took part in all of their offerings ... Cross country skiing, skating, snowshoeing and kick sledding. All of these were included, and the equipment was in almost-new condition.
The service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and accommodating.
We will definitely be back to experience what they have to offer in summer!

The Room that we booked said to feature 2 Queen beds but that was not the case. We had two Full Size beds.
We had requested a crib for our toddler during the booking process. When we arrived in the room it was not there. I then called reception to ask them to bring one. When we came back to the room the crib was not installed. It was folded in the middle of the living room. This is terrible customer service. It never happened to me before. Very disappointing.
We had a room in building #53 with va living room with a fireplace and a bedroom. The living room was very hot but the bedroom was freezing. We could not find how to balance the temperature between the 2 rooms.
All restaurants were booked. Hour-long wait times for the only dining options at the resort? Unreal.
The next day, for breakfast, we waited 10 minutes for the lady to find us a table; She kept on saying let me try and find you a table. We were 4 guests plus a toddler. When we walked in and she sat us down, the entire restaurant was empty and there were tons of available table....
We used the pool as a family on Saturday evening. The pool area was a disaster. Piles on top of piles of soiled towels. The carpet was completely wet from start to finish. Lockers had no key or coin system to safety store our items. We had to bring our boots and winter coats to the pool area. The washrooms were disgusting. One of the washroom stalls/doors was broken and presented a serious safety concern hanging by one screw in the middle of the room. No staff in sight. And the water in both the kids and main pools was frigid. On top of that you have to go out from where you came in to go in the pool. Therefore, you walk bare feet where you minutes ago walked with your boots soaked with snow. Adding to that that there is nowhere to wash your feet before entering the water... I let you imagine how clean the water must be. Very very disapointing.
Highly disappointed by this entire experience considering that a basic room cost us over $220. The resort fee that you are charging should take care of all of these and more.
Because of the time spent at breakfast to wait for a table, wait for the check.... we were a few minutes late to checkout. We decided to touched based at the reception to reactivate our room card. We were told that our room keycard had been reactivated for one use. We drove to our room with our son in need of a diaper change and found out that the keycard had not been reactivated correctly. This resulted in a phone call and a shuttle service for someone to come open the door for them 10 minutes later. Again, this was a disaster.
