The amenities are nice and the staff are great! We are a family of four including 1 infant. We came at the wrong time of year; too cold and wet for summer activities, but not enough snow yet for winter activities, so we stayed inside for 3 days and enjoyed the pool. The place was deserted. On the plus side it meant there were a lot of spare rooms so they upgraded us for free. It was just before the Christmas holiday rush so we saw them preparing special entertainment and activities for the kids, but unfortunately we would leave before getting to enjoy that. My 7yo enjoyed the indoor playground and arcade. The escape rooms looked like fun but apparently not appropriate for under 10 years. All in all, a very nice place. We will probably come again but would definitely call ahead to check the outdoor activities schedule first.

Nice clean resort. Very close to lake which you can canoe or do other water activities for free. Has a good variety of restaurants on site and near. Downtown Huntsville is 10 minutes away and has quaint little shops. Would definitely recommend

Great resort, lots of activities available, indoor and outdoor. Make sure to go when the weather is nice, as rain and thunder cancels many of the outdoor activities such as tree top trekking, canoeing, etc. The room was excellent as well, only a $10 upgrade for the superior view.

Nice location. Easy access to great activities but showing it's age. Service and amenities need attention. Understaffed. Mini apartments are great but inadequately and inconsistently stocked with essentials.

Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the outdoor activities.. The Eclipse restaurant was very busy and noise level was high..
Buffet was only option for food. There was a vast selection of foods but not as tasty as i'd hope... Dessert were mostly tarts and cakes.. strawberries for dipping in chocolate were under ripe and mealy..
The Condo was nice.. but tissues, toilet paper were poor quality. Good selection of dinnerware and glasses.. there is a dishwasher ,Stove and Refrigerator...
Bed was very comfortable.. nice pillows and blankets..
Staff for activities were very helpful and offered lots of options to enjoy the property..

First night and were feeling a little disappointed as we paid a lot of money and when we pulled out the chair in the room there was old coffee filters on the floor. Also the cable hasn't been working since we got here:( hopefully they can get it back up today since we are paying for the service and would like to watch a movie tonight ..It would also be nice to have a big bigger fridge..but none the less the beach is nice and everything else has been ok.

Great!

Nice place, however trying to get something to eat is time consuming service extremely slow. And one night during our staybthe hotel catered a party on the beach with music till all hours of the morning. Unacceptable with the high cost of the rooms.

Beautiful place! The condos are a great value with snowshoe, skate, and cross-country ski rentals included. Lots of places to use them without trails and paths for all skill levels. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful location. We didn't stay at the resort but will love to do it in the near future. What we love is that they have many activities for kids and adults, so it's the perfect destination to keek kids entertained.

The Deerhusrt Resort is one of the best resorts in the Huntsville area that has many activities for all the family members.

They offer three types of rooms and each happens to be in a different building and location. They have recently built a new accommodation facing the lake which is expected to open for reservation soon.

I attended a beautiful wedding ceremony here. The staff was very professional and top notch. From the food to the decor, everything was fantastic. The only thing holding back the 5 start rating was the masses of screaming kids in the "public" section. Every time I had to venture outside of our closed rooms I was confronted by dozens of kids running and screaming with no adults in sight.

What a beautiful place

What a beautiful place
Very nice view over looking the lake
Very well maintained place
Friendly and welcoming staff
Good food options
It is the place for relaxation and enjoyment
If you are into activity there is a lot to do at Deerhurst or around it
I will definitely recommend Deerhurst resort

Nice resort with plenty of activities/amenities - indoor pool, fitnwss centre, outdoor tennis courts, canoes/kayaks/SUPs, beach, towel service. However, the place we stayed at was very outdated (looks like I walked into the 70s). There was a fridge in the room but it was very small and loud. No microwave. Also, it's very pricey to stay here. All staff were for nice and helpful.

Pretty pricey but a super beautiful area to stay in for a couple of days. It will seem likeyou ge access to a lot od things by paying the resort fee but after the main water things (canoeing, splash pad etc.) you may be a bit bored. Other things like rock climbing and horseback riding are additio al fees. Be prepared to spend a little but it is a very relaxing place. Lovely beach with nice views and excellent picture taking opportunities!

The rooms are clean and well maintained, however I found other resorts in the area to be almost as nice for significantly less money. The resort lacks any real security or wristband policy, so the small beach is overrun with people who likely aren't actually staying at the resort.

Very unhappy that the room we booked was undergoing renovation, even though we were not notified or informed beforehand - nor were we given a proper apology or voucher. Also, all of the restaurants are closed during this time of year and again, we weren't informed. They had one restaurant available and were sold out of their most practical dish. Not impressed at all.

Beautiful place....room is spectacular and scenery breathtaking. Only issue is multiple rooms near us smoking on their balconies (not supposed to but some people suck)...informed front desk but didn't change much.

Overall, was an okay experience, except for check-in. It states on their website that check-in time is 4pm (which is late to begin with), however, our rooms were not ready until 5pm. They kept saying it would be 20 minutes every time I asked, but when that time would pass, it would be another 20 minutes. They offered no compensation, and didn't seem to care that they were late with the time.

Amazing place for winter skiing. We went to the resort for 2 days paid like $1200 for stay of 6 people and skies. In my opinion this is the best deal and experience one can have in winters.

My partner fractured her knee and deerhurst was accommodating. The room was made on time but they also gave us a discount on the room. The amenities were nice and I found that my friends and I could comfortable stay at the lodge One thing to point out is the shuttle to Hidden Valley. There's only one driver (or at least during the night) and I think it would be better to at least have 2 so the driver isn't stretched and that wait times would lessen. But other than that, my stay was enjoyable.

Such a great family location. Lots to do, with 3 pools, the beach, arcade, rock climbing wall, restaurants, volleyball net and much more. Staff was friendly, and very helpful. Kids had fun doing the treasure hunt, and we enjoyed all the restaurants. For any runners out there, I ran 5km all around the resort which was absolutely stunning. About 100 meter elevation changes, so some decent hills to conquer, but the view is breathtaking. We do plan on returning next year during the same week, as the kids didn't want to leave.

Pros:

Pros:
- Very nice scenery
- Room in the Bayshore building was on the first floor, right on the lake
- Kayak, paddleboard and canoe rental included in resort fee
- Room was clean
- Breakfast portions were large and food was good

Cons:
- Not good value for money. Far too expensive for a basic, older hotel room. No amenities provided and no room cleaning due to Covid-19
- Screen door in room was broken and could not be used
- We ordered room service for dinner both nights, and they forgot to provide cutlery both times
- Grounds could use better maintenance. Lounge chairs were not clean
- Staff seemed overworked and could use more training in some cases
- The fire alarm went off in our building, and we were not provided with any information about what happened
- Not enough variety in terms of dining options
- Cannot cancel within 7 days of stay

The resort is nice enough, however the cost is just too high for what you get, especially if the weather is poor, there is nothing to do.

Great location, lots of activities and amenities. This is the second time we have been here. Enjoyed both times. The weather in Huntsville can change very quickly. Pack carefully and keep an eye on the weather. Outdoor activities obviously depend on the weather.

Activities were fun and beach was great but the no housekeeping unless you stay 7 days is what s going to keep me away. It was disgusting and unfortunately the condos are starting to show what happens when you don t clean everyday.

It s too bad because the kids had a fantastic time but was tired of seeing our dirty towels piled up on the floor or awful, lazy guests who left their garbage in the hallway instead of throwing it in the bins outside.

Come on Deerhurst! I had such fond memories of this place in the 90s. It s a shame.

Found it overpriced for what's there. Resort fees ($37) per night way to much. Depending on what your plans are lots of hotels in the area. No difference with any other hotel room. Most services not offered including housekeeping because of covid which is understandable but we're charged like it was full service. Next trip I'll be shopping around. Seems to be a number of fake reviews, negative reviews get hidden.

I recently stayed at Deerhurst Resort for a weekend wedding getaway. Usually my husband and I take our trailer around these areas, so staying at a resort in this area was new for us. My husband checked us in to our room which was closer to the water and had a great view-so far so good. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the facility to its full extent due to wedding activities, so I cannot speak for that. What I can speak for is the utter disappointment I've had with the resort, since I've returned home. The very next day after returning home I started noticing bumps on my body, which were extremely itchy. I've camped many times and knew this wasn't a normal bug bite. They were in clusters on my back and arms. I went to a walk in clinic as I'm pregnant and especially cautious, to be told it is most likely bed bugs. I then got a second opinion from our in house doctor, as I work in a healthcare setting, and again, the second opinion was the same- BED BUGS. I called the resort and was passed through to a manager who took my concerns seriously, or so I thought. I was told they would check the room and get back to me. After 5 HOURS- I get a call and voicemail from the same manager saying they checked the room and could find no evidence of bed bugs, but "due to their policy, they would need to get pest control in". She also added in that I could have picked them up from anywhere as they travel. If I would like the results from the pest control I would receive them, and yet I have not heard a word. I called back and left a message and had no call in return, no offer of compensation as its not cheap to stay at their resort, and basically being shrugged off as this is my problem and its no fault of their own. I'm super disappointed and very close to calling public health/MOH to get them involved. There's no way I picked this up just from anywhere. Be careful if you choose to stay there and check your rooms, do not put your bags on the beds and hopefully you get luckier than I did.

Very nice. It was a bit of a walk to get to the beach but you could always find at least one or two chairs available to relax in. And there s a golf chart that you can ride in to get to the beach. Rooms where very nice, clean, open. Lots of windows to allow sunlight in.

Tons of fun activities to do here. We managed to go snow shoeing and hiking to the lookout point in the morning, then went for the ski trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park after a nice lunch break at the Compass Bar & Grill on site. Great place to visit and spend a weekend. Definitely need more than a one night stay to get the full experience!

RACIST EXPERIENCE. Apart from the initial bout of poor customer service from the arrival time when the room wasn't ready to a lack of clarity as to when it will be ready. Check in time is 4 pm. The room wasn't avail until 520 pm and we had to call to initiate the readiness. We were later refused service at the bar because the bar manager said a staff observed one of us stumbling and almost knocking a painting over. The painting was on the wall. None of us were drunk, we were coming from the culinary experience. We challenged her on her story and asked for a re-assessment of who was drunk. She refused. At this point we were pissed because this wasn't right No one was intoxicated and no valid reason is being provided. We challenged her story and she changed it to say that someone stumbled and almost felt someone's breast. When she couldn't back that up, she changed it to say that one of us made racist comments to the waitress. We all felt that this was a racist issue but it was cleverly disguised as a smart serve policy that we could not argue. Will never spend a dime at this place nor anywhere that is under their corporate umbrella.

Beautiful place to visit, so much to see and do in the area, staff were all incredible from the front desk, the restaurants to the shuttles. Fantastic! Our only issue was we were told being in the condos was exactly like being in the main building. Not the Case. It's a walk up with long waits for help with your suitcase, so be prepared to do it yourself because they are busy, the amenities out there didn't feel like the 4 star hotel they claim to be. The condos do have full kitchens to cook your own food which we didn't know otherwise we would have brought food! But all and all a lovely place for a friends or family weekend away!!

This resort offers amenities that caters to young families. It offers rock climbing, a pool, arcade and a restaurant on site as well as a spa for adults. They have different packages and offers discounts if you stay longer. It is situated near the lake and there are also water activities such as early morning paddle experience, splash zone, inflatable water park on the lake, kids fishing on the dock, sunset hill and campfire, classic lawn games and many more.
It has its own tennis court and golf course. It has an extensive shoreline on Peninsula Lake so it offers a variety of waterfront fun.
In my opinion this resort is a high end one without breaking the bank, breathtaking views and endless activities for all ages.

We visited Deerhurst during the family day long weekend. We were almost 12 adults and 4 children.

Good:
1. Huge resort with lot of indoor and outdoor activities. It's mainly focused for children but adults too can enjoy.
2. Since we visited in winter, the snow activities were amazing. Was a Good - first time experience. With the stay you get some free activities as well, for others you have to pay.
3. Friendly and smiling staff.

Bad:
1. We stayed in building 10, main pavilion - the rooms need renovation big time. Very old furniture, limited lighting, old paint and carpets. I got hit by a nail popping out of a step couch. So they definitely need renovation.
2. Food options nothing great at the resort, if you are a vegetarian. Also the restaurant seating capacity is way too less. So make sure u do a booking or go in early. This applies for all restaurants within the resort.
3. No welcome water bottles - So make sure you carry enough water, in case you are not ok to drink tap water.
4. The activity board was a bit disorganized. I felt they could have organized it better so you can plan your day better.
5. Value for money? I don't think so. I found the resort to be expensive. I just hope they renovate soon and provide better food options, probably then it will be worth the value.

All the best deerhurst team.

The hotel is located in an amazing place, it counts with private trails if you want to go for a hiking, the restaurant is okay, the reason for why I gave them 2 starts is because our room was very dirty, we can felt the floor with a lot of dust we found the dishwasher with cups and dishes inside, at the end the hotel apologize for all the inconvenience and they gave us a discount in the restaurants.

Stayed here for a weekend in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and the place is well maintained . We stayed at the Summit Lodge, which is like a condo, complete with appliances and cutlery.

Activities on site include: skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, etc. There is a downhill skiing resort next door.

They have several conference rooms, including one that holds about 700 people (the peninsula room)

Looking forward to my next stay here :)

Great place to relax with friends. Rina at reception was amazing and really made our stay a great experience. The live music in the eclipse restaurant was great and really enjoyed the water activities. Spa was a little tired, but overall would come back.

Hotel staff were minimally helpful in directing me to the far away room. Never told me shuttles were available. Breakfast buffet was very average. Warm food on a very cold plate.
Never done Deerhurst before. Compared to Millcroft Inn: no comparison. Millcroft is WAY ahead in overall quality, attentiveness and available food.

Stayed for 7 nights. Didn't have fresh sheets to start, had to keep asking housekeeping for fresh towels, no coffee filters, no paper or pens, garbage not picked up, ants on the kitchen counter, broken ice machine after 3 days, never fixed.
