I went in via the Ambulance. Fire and EMS Crews were outstanding. I went in last Friday night and was released today the 20th most of the staff were tripping over themselves, to do the very best that they could do. There were lots of names to mention, and I apologize, I just don't remember their names. However my last Nurse was Anna. She was fantastic and very helpful. My room # was 614
Thank you so much Anna, best of luck to you and yours.
Good environment for healing & serious issue treatment. Warm & calming place. I've been in many hospitals/clinics that are cold, impersonal, stressful to be in WITHOUT the results & circumstances added. This place is as different from that as night & day.
Horrible place to come for medical attention, I wouldn t recommend Don t Come Here to anyone, the wait time is ridiculous and the customer service is poor!
In for COPD exacerbation and an access on my breast. Dr Coppock spent a total of 8 minutes with me. Laughed at me when iaskefI to have my blood gases checked. I know my symptons and they do not always present themselves in a textbook manner. It's not about getting the O2 in, it's getting the CO2 out. Cursory examination. Listened to my chest. Glanced at my breast. Total rush job. Not acceptable. I miss Dr Lovely, who always pulls up a stool and listens to what's going on with me. Can't help but notice that the first item on the Dr's report is "time spent with patient". Sad.
I visited the ER yesterday June 21 with chest pains. I was treated very compassionately and professionally. I am vary pleased and satisfied with the level of care that I received.
doctors were good but nursing was inattentive and I missed a meal because no one told me
I needed to order my meals myself. A big handful of oral medication were delivered when I was checking out evidently because they didn t care enough bring them any other time and were trying to cover that up at check out. Nursing can t be trusted at DCH. This is strong evidence that administration promotes poor nursing through over scheduling nurses and establishing a poor service/work ethic culture in hospital units.
Left there in worse condition than when I arrived.Had spinal stenosis surgery and one year later I'm unable to use my hands and now limp when I walk
I was involved in a accident Thursday night the the fire department that cut me out of the car was God sent Roman was his name he said we went to school together. But when I arrived to DCH it was horrible I was covered in glass from head to waistline. Glass in my mouth and hair and eyes they didn t do anything to help or remove the glass. My nurse I had she was great don t remember her name tho. I went to X-ray and got cat scan I have a broken collar bone and ribs they sent me home in pain the same night. With meds that lasted two days with no refill anyone can imagine the pain I m in. They said I was trauma could ve die don t know how I didn t but they still sent me and my boyfriend home didn t give him any meds. I seriously don t understand .
Doctors and nurses were very nice to me. It was very busy and I was in the hallway, but moved into a room as soon as one was available. Treatment was thoughrough but not excessively so. I observed the doctor and nurses being kind to everyone they were treating from my viewpoint in the hallway.
Imqpossibale to get help from caregivers without numerous requests. Default answer is we have to find out unless I repeatedly ask for help. My leg is broken should I have to beg for help?
I want to thank all personnel that we're involved in my treatment and stay . Everyone was so nice , and caring . The services they provided were at it their best , and on a timely manner . It almost felt like I was at home with family . Thank you all again so much .
THE ONE LADY WHO GAVE ME SERVICE WAS COMPLETELY RUDE N DISRESPECTFUL. THE WORST ATTITUDE I'VE SEEN ITS CLEAR THAT SHE'S RACIST. I DIDN'T GET HER NAME BUT SHE WAS WHITE AND HEAVY SET WITH A RUDE DEMEANOR. I RATHER DIE THAN GO BACK THERE
They are very friendly people. Very pleased with all aspects of our visit. Doctors and nurses were very nice.
I don't care if you were shot do NOT go to DCH. I have never been to a hospital this bad in my life. Waited 6+ hours to be seen and eventually gave up and left. Nurses sit around on their phones, don't check up on you, don't check vitals right away. Someone came in nearly unconscious and unresponsive and he was left alone in a corner while no one tended to him for about 20 min. Wish I could give this hospital 0 stars. Do not go here.
It's called "don't come here" for a reason. It's dirty, the nurses could care less and they charge insane prices for routine tests.
I gracefully give a four star with this caveat - the amount of time it takes to see doctor is so unreasonably long. My wife was in excruciating lower back pain and the wait was just too long. We went hoping our expectations would be wrong but NOT.
The PA and doctor were great once we were able to see them and that is the only reason I give a four star.
My visit to the hospital went very well. Every one was very caring and very nice. Encouraging and were prompt when I needed anything. It's my 1st stay at the Tuscaloosa hospital.
If I could rate this hospital zero stars I would. First off. They thought I was going into cardiac arrest and rushed me into a cardiac trauma room where a nurse blew my veins on both arms and creates a huge mess. And then, no one checked on me for an hour and a half and my heart bpm was between 115 and 170.
If you thought someone was going into cardiac arrest would you seriously leave them along in a room for an hour and a half?
After that all they did was try to give me a bunch of pills and kept me there for 30 hours until my bpm was 100. But even the next day I had to go back because no one seemed to try to explain to me the side effects of having a high bpm like that would be. I.e: dizziness, weakness, loss of appetite, shakiness...
Especially being alone, this was one of the most traumatic things I have ever gone though and those nurses did not help one bit. I had PTSD from it.
The Emergency Room at this hospital is a Joke! Oh My God! Hear me when I say Father God keep me safe from harm so that I don't need Emergency Care at this facility!! Good Jesus if you are going to have to wait 4 hours before being seen whats the point of coming here! Mind you I do understand there are other patients that need care as well but Good Jesus this is ridiculous!
All the nurse's I had were very sweet and kind , but the social working that come to see me in my room was very very rude to and my boyfriend but overall the hospital was excellent
I checked in at 11:10pm and the CPA Carl greeted me and took my blood pressure and then wheeled me to have Xrays done. While I was sitting in the hallway by the bathroom 2 staff members went in the restroom, used the restroom, flushed the toilet and not one time did I hear them wash their hands. I sat outside of radiology about 15 minutes even though there was not a patient in there and then was wheeled in. The staff member that was putting me in the positions for the x-rays she was really sweet and kept apologizing for the ones that she could tell was hurting me. I was then taken back to the lobby to sit and waiting. There was several people that came in while I was waiting that came and went before I was taken to a room. I understand that more serious cases is seen sooner however a man came in that stated that he had a crook in his neck and he was taken back before myself and a lady that had been there before me that was hurting really bad and was pregnant. When I went to the desk to make sure that when I went to the restroom that I didn't miss my name the nurse cut me off and said that the more serious people are taken back 1st. At this point it is now close to 9am. When I finally got called to go to a room the lady that took me to my room was very apologetic for the long wait and was extremely sweet. The Doctor that came in to give me my results was very friendly, professional and answered every question I had while sitting down. He did not seem as though he was bothered by the questions or that he had something better to do. All of his answers was straightforward and on a level for me to understand it. I respect his bedside manner and you need more doctors like him and Dr. Woodard.
Horrible. Doctors don't take the time to explain procedures and very rude and slow dispatching medicine and discharging patients. Went to another hospital and everything was explained and figured out in 30 min.
Couldn't ask to be treated better than I was when at DCH Regional in Tuscaloosa Alabama.Everyone was helpful and always saw to my needs. I especially commend the one in ICU 2ND floor and the ones on 7 south .Also my surgeon Dr. Joseph Wallace and my regular doctor Snail Chandraeveryone and their staff and the doctors who subbed for them when they couldn't be there God Bless each and
I am an up set mother! My daughter was brought to this hospital after a head on collision ambulance said had to take her here it was a 3level trauma hospital! After sewing up her leg and fixing an autery. Sent my daughter home with Robaxin! WTH she is not at home I m 2hours away from her she was sent home without any pain medicine!! Would not ever recommend this hospital!! Well I m bringing her home where she can get the accurate care she needs from her Dr!! #Veryconcernedmother!!!
I just recently had my sweet baby at DCH Regional Medical Center and the staff was nothing more than amazing! From the Labor & Delivery department Mrs. Brandy, to the OB Department, Mrs. Tamatha and Mrs. Ashley. Let's not forget all of the PCA's, one specific dietary worker, Mrs. Dorothy Thomas, and one specific OB nursery worker, Mrs. Black. Not to say that they were the only good ones, but my experience with them was phenomenal. They saw to my every need being met. They were kind, respectful, and comforting! They not only showed me love, but my baby and family memebers as well. I truly appreciate all that was done for us from the bottom of my heart.
You, where there when I needed you. Could not ask for more. The staff was professional , friendly, helpful and got always a smile in moments when the sun doesn't shine so bright. Will never forget the your helping hands, knowledge and friendliness.
Worst hospital experience I have had. My brother was sick with the flu throwing up constantly while we waited 3 and a half hours too just get checked. Once they finally did that we did not see any staff or a room for the next hour and after we got him a bed I did not see any staff again for the next two hours.
I had the unfortunate opportunity to be sent to this joke medical facility to have a cat scan and blood work because of diverticulitis. I filled out the sign in paper, returned it to the ER desk along with the papers that was sent with me for the hospital. I was told to keep the papers until I was called. I was called approximately an hour later for blood pressure, which was high and unnoticed by the nurse, temp taken and asked questions. Was told to have a seat in the waiting room, that a room was being cleaned for me to go to. Over an hour later I walked out. I asked the nurse at the counter to remove my wrist band. Of course the nurse told me that I wasn't a priority, the others were. Stupid me, I was told at the walk-in clinic that I had to have a cat scan to be positive a pocket was not ruptured. My pain level was 10+. I can hurt just as bad at home. If and when I am ready to die, that is when I will walk inside DCH again.
Was from out of town, but had a sudden medical emergency - easy access north off the interstate. Great experience in ER! Such friendly staff/P.A./M.D. Employees very professional. Efficient. Minimal wait to be seen once i was i put in a room, but still way less than i expected/way less than a typical ER). Easy access off I-20/59S onto Hwy 82 N. Great care!! Would definitely use again if had to.
They put me in a room for 2 hours and never checked on me
If you are gonna get tested for covid -19 don t come here. There are drive Thur testing all over but decided to come here and it has been over 2 hours. It s insane
They Do Not Work With A Sense Of Urgency At All. Children Are Not A Priority and You Can Tell They Are There For A Paycheck And Not Care & Concern.
Went to Dch Tuscaloosa October 8th 2017 because October 7th 2017 I dropped a steel weight on my right foot had was in a lot in pain but got told "I don't see nothing wrong with it " but it was completely swollen/painful but they took my wheelchair from me and made me walk to other room but I couldn't walk far until my mother got mad and said something got it back . waited 5 days wasn't any better still swollen with a big lump and couldn't move my toes but got a xray well during it one of the people called one back and said " look at this " but when the doctor came " I see nothing wrong with it a CT scan will show a lot more but we won't do it because it's not a emergency" well it's been 7 months it's still swollen with a bigger lump on it .can't move my toes at all they just twitch unable to move my foot up or down that much so two Fridays ago went agian finally got a hopefully lady doctor got me to do some test and felt on my foot got told there's something wrong with it May 2nd I finally see a orthopedic surgeon
This past visit i went in because i thought I broke my collar bone. Did xrays and doc/np brought in a very bad xray, very cloudy, and said no breaks. I asked what is this sticking out of my skin I thought it was my collar bone they said just a bruise. I went to my orthopedic and after xrays there he showed me the obvious breaks, yes 2 breaks, and we proceeded treatment there. People are nice but the level of diagnosis could use some work.
It's my choice for hospital because it's where I'm use to going. They are over all slow. Some doctors are very caring and some have I'm only a doctor to get paid attitude. Hospital is clean and food to me is good overall.
The customer service was great! Nurse Grace and Karen in CT Scan was most impressive as they performed necessary duties all while they encouraged me to get through and feel better. The doctor was nice and the Nurse Practitioner was but I felt like they weren't as concerned about how I felt in my body. I left the hospital uncertain with a referral I couldn't utilize.
Went in for surgery on 10/8, and stayed over night in the Post Surgery Unit. Let me tell you something, hands down I had the best nurses. First there was Aaron who had the best bed side manor, and he was just as sweet, and attentive as can be. Then there was Susan, very sweet, and attentive as well, and kept my apple juice well stocked. Last but not least there was Terry. Very sweet spirit, very warm, and very attentive to my needs. Thank you all so much for what you do, and the excellent care that you provide.
Was recently a patient only to find they shared my information with a third party who now pesters me daily. How dare them share my information without my consent.
I went to DCH Regional Center to have some outpatient lab work that my Dr had ordered.Everyone I came across was very friendly and helpful.I'm not very knowledgeable about DCH so had to ask for directions several times to find my destination and had no problems getting the directions I needed. They even give you a parking pass which I thought was pretty awesome.
Terrible experience in the ER. Dr should not be a dr. Left with same pain I came with and still didn't know why. Have a appt at UAB. Taking my business north.
The people were nice that we dealt with an very courteous. The waiting room seemed a bit disorganized and messy but overall not horrible.
Had back surgery and the nurses were outstanding. Friendly, caring and absolutely no complaints. I'm from sturgis Mississippi and wish they were at our local hospital. Please know if I ever need to come back I will and I will tell everyone just how great this place is. Thank you for all you did.
The nurses (aside from the ER nurses) and doctors are rude, condescending, and never tell you anything that s going on. If it were possible, I d give this hospital zero stars.
I am just SO pleased with my experience here!! Dr. Lovely was fantastic, and so helpful and most definitely one of the best doctors I ve ever had. Every single staff member was phenomenal and they made me feel very good, and took amazing care of me and i could tell everyone actually cared and acted like they were glad to be there which is so hard to find nowadays when you go to the hosptial. I m not originally from this area but I have to say this is better than anywhere I ve ever been! Very awesome and thank you all for your good work here!
Wait times are absolutely terrible. Unless you're dying go to med center north or south. They will try to milk your insurance for all it's worth and the wait times are absolutely abyssmal, do not expect to be there for less than 6 hours. I get that too many people go to the hospital for things that aren't serious, but Tuscaloosa desperately needs another hospital because DCH isn't cutting it on its own. This goes for both my last trip and my girlfriends SCHEDULED appointment that happen today. I appreciate all the responses from the owner I see on here, but I've heard these same complaints from so many other locals and it's obvious nothing is being done to fix any of this. Do yourself a favor and if you have a stab or gunshot wound, take the chance on the 45 minute drive to Birmingham.
DCH IS THE WORST PLACE EVER! THE DOCTORS ARE HORRIBLE THE STAFF IS A MESS IN THE ER DEPARTMENT . IF YOU DON'T HAVE NO INSURANCE THEY TREAT YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL. ACTUALLY I THINK THEY WOULD TREAT AN ANIMAL BETTER THAN A HUMAN BEING THERE. DOCTOR CRAWFORD AND SUE IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. THEY DIDN'T EVEN PUT THEIR HANDS ON ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE DO TO LOST OF JOB.
Great and courteous staff, very friendly and professional. I'd go in the future and recommend it.
My girlfriend was born here!!! Thanks DCH :D you made my life so much better. The dude who delivered her still works there!!!
Terrible , I was treated very ugly and horrible in the E R on Wednesday , Nov 4 2020.a horror story all of its own.
They need new staff an doctors they treat people without care!!
I was really impressed with their promptness! I went in with unbearable pain didn't know at the time but it was a kidney stone , which was my first experience with that omg ! But anyway they took me straight back with no hesitation and got started on my diagnosis and gave me something for pain fairly quick! I am very grateful to them !
My 2 year old came in with a 105.1 fever they gave him meds by mouth he threw them up. He was so lathergic that he couldn't even hold his eyes open or his head up then they finally gave him some meds my rectum. They put us back in the waitin room for 4 hours while nobody came to check his temp again ( that never broke) then they put us back in an on room and for over 2 hours nobody came to speak to us or see us. I had to go out to the lobby and ask who I could talk to about leaving bc I was taking my child to children's then this sweet pca asked my nurse why nobody had spoke to me and they said oh we forgot about them then pulled my sons chart out. Then the doctor comes in I explain what's going on.. I asked them to recheck his temp they never did. So I go get the nurse bc I pressed the call button and never got anybody ( also did that 3 times asking for things and never got them) so she checks his temp and it's still 102.3 after 3 hours of meds.. They never gave him anything else to make it come down. Then the doctor came in and said it was a bad virus but he doesn't know which one to give him ibuprofen and send him home? We were here 12 hours for a doctor to treat my 2 year old son like he doesn't exist and he's not sick and then tell us he doesn't know what's wrong.. Then the nursing staff gets angry with you when you ask for a pillow or for them to check your child and nobody will let me speak to patient relations or anything!
My primary doctor was very concerned and sent me to the ED for test. The test were done to my primary care doctor's request. However, the Emergency Department doctor showed no compassion for the pain I was in and sent me home knowing I was in pain. I hate taking medicine and only take it if I am in severe pain. The ED doctor treated me like I was just there for pain meds. When I told her that I came to find out what was the cause of my pain, she said she could only rule out a blood clot, not tell me what was causing my pain. I am glad I did not have a blood clot, but I feel like I wasted eight hours. I will not be going back there.
If I were giving a review based on my waiting room experience alone, 1 Star would be given. One big star for the security officer that was so kind and helpful. She had a smile on her face that brightened the room of sad, sick, tired faces. She was friendly. She was attentive. She was a calmness. She, alone, gets the star!
Once we were taken back for labs and treatment the demeanor of our experience changed dramatically. My child was treated with care, concern, professionalism. The staff was wonderful! The precious lab technician drew her blood ... she was a pro! Meredith (RN) and Dr Mann (attending physician) were awesome. Although they had numerous patients, they cared for her as if she were their only one. We were in and out of the ER (with a referral for her condition) within 5 hours (that included labs and the other tests that were performed) Thank you for a good experience during a painful, stressful time.
My experience was as pleasant as possible due to my being sick. Everyone was nice and polite and I was very satisfied with my doctor. She was very professional and I agreed with her findings and assessment of my condition. She also seemed to care about me as a person.
Dr. Conway is a very caring doctor and a very nice person! The entire ED staff was wonderful and I greatly appreciated all of their care during my visit on Saturday September 7 2019.
Thank you all
Sam Hansen
Had a high fever that wouldn't break. Went to dch they put me on IV fluids and left me in a hall on a gurney. Was released a few hours later. Went to medcenter the next day, was sent back to dch because I was having a stroke. Dch left me laying in their trauma unit for 24 hrs and did absolutely nothing. Left ama the next day and went to Grandview. At Grandview within 6 hours I was diagnosed with an infection in my heart scheduled for heart surgery the next day. Dch tried to kill me through negligence and today I received bill for $300 I guess for taking up space in their hall. DCH. Don't come here
The Physicians and staff were very nice and easy to talk to. The only complaint was the weekend and night staff was stretched thin. Needs more staff on nights and weekends.
Great and courteous staff, very friendly and professional. I'd go in the future and recommend it.
I spent 6 hours on a gurney in a hallway in emergency area after coming in via ambulance with high blood pressure. A frazzled nurse came to me about 2 hours later to take my blood pressure which was still high. The Er doctor came over to me another hour or two later and asked what was wrong. He decided i was anxious and said he would order a zanax pill. I was finally wheeled into an Er room. Blood was taken for normal panel. Zanax was given. Blood pressure had been 180/80-90 on arrival. Went down to 160/80 something at one point. Zanax did relax me but upon discharge 6 hours after my arrival it was back up to 183/85. I asked why I was being discharged with high BP and told by the doc not to worry about it. This occurred on August 6 2018
Avoid this place if you can this hospital is just too expensive. I came here after I broke several of my ribs and at the end of the day I end up with a massive bill and my crappy American Healthcare barely covered anyting I think the next time I get injured I'll just treated myself at home.
Emergency room. Takes way to long to get pepole seen i was there with my sick 1 year old for 3 hours in the waitng room. With out being seen. Finally got fed up and left and took her to northport.
5 stars white Co vid is around not a sole in the hospital. Know my record long enough to know I know when I'm having a kidney stone. I will say DR. Woodward is an top rate doctor only one there I trust but it's luck of the draw who's there when you go in.
Worst ER ever seen. You do not have any choice besides this one.
The nurses doctors all the front workers were all real nice and took care of me promptly dr Ramsey Johnny tice the nurse practitioner and Tripp the RN was great my visit was great for as the workers go I just didn t like the out come of having my right foot broke in two places
The most horrendous place I have ever been. No one seemed to care about anything and wouldn t see us. This place needs to be shut down, it wasn t crowded and they still didn t seem to have the time to do their jobs. 0/5 stars, to be more specific.
LOVE !!!how I got treated wonderful caring Doctors and Staff at DCH NORTHPORT outpatient or someday
surgery never had not one bad comment at all ya'll get a A+ and 100 percent satisfied and even when i went they stayed in contact with me checking on me and when I called they really are kind in helping me out !!! I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart .
They tool cafe of me really fast but didn't tell me why I had a knot on the back buttom part of my skull. One said lymp node. The other one said a cyst. It just moved from one side to the side to the other. My ears were bothering me. Dizzy really bad for 2 week felt like I was walking like I was drunk and my vision was blurry wearing my glasses and blurrier without them. Didn't really help just very confussed...
I came to the ER twice for the same issue and they keep telling me it's nothing but I constantly have stomach pains.. I just wish that they would look a little deeper, at least do an ultrasound or put a tube down my nose.
I was at the emergency room 2 hours before being seen following a car accident. I was brought to the hospital by ambulance. My vitals signs were taken after 2 hours.
I was sent back to sit in the main lobby 3 times . This was humiliating,! This was the worst experience ever!
I was impressed with the amount of effort this hospital takes with its security. G4S employees guard the front entrance with metal detection systems. It is important patients have their well being and privacy protected. I drove my neighbor here to visit her family member and the staff were very attentive to their needs and informative when it came to asking questions .
Was extremely sick nearly passed out waiting for 2 hours just for them to tell me I was fine, they took blood and an X-ray and said both were clear. I was even worse the next day and I went to urgent care and they said neither my chest X-ray or my bloodwork was clear. Worst hospital I have ever been to absolute disgrace. Go somewhere else if u can.
I have not been able to get anyone from the billing department it's either leave a message or let me transfer you and the phone is hung up call back and no answer just need a ubo4 form for my insurance for a procedure my wife had 2 months ago
My 87 yo dad has been hospitalized here for a couple of days. The times that I sat with him, I noticed several employees with attitudes and doing least as possible to assist the clients. Being I am a first responder, I know there are times when it seem like the day will never end but you never let that affect the way you deal/interact with people. Not all staff members were this way (Dr's, Nurses ie professional staff). I also noticed that he didn't get his meal for several hours (4) after he ordered it. The Dr's were pushed meds and my dad hadn't eaten a meal which caused him to become nauseated. I personally went to the nurse's station and asked for a meal for my dad and the assistant blew me off and stated "It should be here in about an hour." I ended up walking downstairs and purchasing food from the cafeteria and got him fed before the meal he ordered arrived.
I had the best PCA s and RN s before and after I had surgery
My 86 year old Mom was in ICU for a week and the Staff took WONDERFUL Care of her! They truly care.
I have had to stay at DCH for a 8 night stay and then again for a 5 night stay in one month. I had great care on both the 6th floor and 7th floor! The whole staff was great and I appreciate all they did to get me well!
The staff were pleasant and were prompt with my calls. The reason
I didn't give 5 stars, is the the food wasn't to good.
their waiting room is too big and when I went there before because of a stomach virus, they couldn't take care of me first and had to wait until 5:00 PM in the afternoon we arrived there at 2:00
I sought treatment at DCH RMC on May 31, 2020. From beginning to end, I received excellent care. RN Megan Somner, APN Bryan Galyon, and Dr. Steven Coppock were on my care team. Thank you.
Was in a serious car accident.
Was sent directly to DCH ER. Had surgery and was sent to ICU.
ICU treated me fantastic.
When I was sent to another floor, that's when my treatment bottom out.
There was so many things that went left field in this situation.
Not going back to this hospital. I was treated as though I didn't even exist.
Go to any other hospital but this one.
C.W.P. was born two days ago in this facility! Daddy is away serving our country. He was allowed to experience the birth of his baby boy by extraordinary means due to the hospitals generosity, gratefulness and compassion. THIS IS HOW WE LOVE EACH OTHER!!!! This is what we are about. We love and take care of each other.
To each person that was involved in this beautiful experience - THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU HOOOOOOOOOOAAAAHHHH
This is ridiculous. We were here three days ago and it took them 6 hours to get us back to a room with him about falling out on the floor. They released him yesterday, we came back tonight and THERE ARE NO ROOMS. He is in extreme pain and needs to get admitted back in. MAKE A ROOM!!!!!! Help the people that need help! And the nurses are absolutely rude and don't seem like they know what they're doing, they couldn't even get his heart rate to read. Let's see if it's 7 hours we have to wait this time, or if they'll ever have a room open!!!
Was given the best service. Never had a doctor to sit at your bedside and show concern for you as if you were of their kin.
DCH is not about what s best for the patient. They were neglectful in discharging my father when he wasn t in any condition to go home. They are very disorganized and only care about guidelines and what the guidelines say about what they should do with a patient. Well the patient is a human being with real problems that need to be addressed before kicking the patient out of the hospital! I wouldn t go to this hospital if it was the last place on earth!!! Tuscaloosa needs a real hospital! Too bad this is the only hospital in Tuscaloosa!
These people need to get their lives together. My brother in law was transported to this place for emergency surgery. The staff here treated his emergency like he came in with a scrape on his knee. His jaw was broken in 3 different places. He couldn't swallow or spit. He was having trouble breathing bc of the swelling in his face and neck. He was bleeding from his mouth. He was at DCH for 4 hours before they even got him a wrist band. After being there for hours, a nurse finally came in to administer an IV. She couldn't stick his veins. She called in another nurse who took 2 more hours to even get to his room. The surgeon got there before most of the nurses did. They wrote my and my husbands numbers down in his chart and said they would call us as soon as he got out of surgery. We never heard from anyone. I called DCH at 5am to talk to his nurse to make sure surgery went ok. She was very rude to me. I told her they was supposed to call us soon as he got out of surgery and she said I didn't know I was supposed to call anybody. Perhaps had she read anything in his chart she probably would've known to call. This was the worst experience and they treated his injury like it was nothing and from now on I will request to go to Birmingham. The staff here are lazy and do not care about their patients only that paycheck. He laid in the hospital suffering for 11 hours before they finally took him into surgery. He laid in the hospital for 10 hours with NO meds before anybody could administer the IV correctly.
since the moment i walked in everyone there was so rude to me. the doctor talked to me like i was stupid and said i had absolutely nothing wrong with me as i was sitting there crying in so much pain. she told me to just go home. she spoke very rudely to me and grabbed my head and threw it around asking does this hurt does this hurt does this hurt and as i replied yes yes yes please stop she didn t. she didn t gently move it around to see where the pain was, she jerked it very hard in all directions. i left crying & will never go back.
That being said, the nurses i had were very nice and helpful and the head of the department came around and asked how my visit was and when i told him how rude my doctor was he was very apologetic and said he would deal with it.
edit: I just went back to look at my paperwork, and it says reason for visit: sore throat and that was NOT the reason for the visit. I went in for a very sharp excruciating head pain.
When i got discharge no one was there to assist me with a wheelchair. I had to walk out of DCH by myself with my knees hurting and can barely walk. So I rate them as a 0.
Took way too long to get discharged. Had to wait 5 hours after my cardiologist said I was ok and could go home until the Hospitalist Doctor sign my discharge papers. I had one nurse with an I dont care attitude.
Unfortunately, I recently had to deal with a health issue on a Sunday evening. It couldn't wait until the next day so my wife dropped me off at the ER. I tried to adjust my expectations and keep in mind the additional strain on the hospital due to COVID-19. I have to say that things went very smoothly. Each healthcare professional that I dealt with showed interest, kindness and concern. My condition was not an emergency but it was somewhat urgent and required calling in a team to perform a procedure on that same evening. Even at that, I was home before midnight as good as new. Thanks to everyone who took care of me!
