Staff very professional and helpful. Lot of people...
Staff very professional and helpful. Lot of people in the waiting room but I think I was seen in an appropriate time.
Staff very professional and helpful. Lot of people in the waiting room but I think I was seen in an appropriate time.
What staff I did see seemed really nice but its like one works here other than the people at the front desk. I have been waiting in the waiting room of the ER for 5 hours and ever that came in after has gone in.
Just visited my immobile mom here today. Employees were wiping up everywhere, asking us if we needed anything, constantly checking on her. Everyone was very proactive. What more could you ask for?
My doctor was super great and genuine concern about my well been.
Very small er, about 9 tx rooms. There were ppl on beds in hallway as well.
I was in severe pain in waiting room for 3-4 hrs.
Once I was called back; the Dr. was fast to arrive, but did not adequately get my pain under control. I think the discharging nurse could tell, bc she asked how well the meds had helped B.C. she could see I still hurt.
The staff is super nice and very compassionate.
Understaffed and inefficient. Showed up at noon with minor symptoms (fluttering in chest). It is now 7pm and we're still here, all test results were fine.
Nasty smelly and the staff act like they were the patients...I pray to God I never have to go back there if I can help it...The doctor I seen had a nasty attitude the whole 4 to 5 hours I was there I sat in the hallway in pain screaming and on top of that I had to pee and 15 staff members passed right by me as I was asking for help like they was the walking dead...Those people that night had no compassion or remorse for me or the pain I was in and its really sad how they treated me that night...Gets no stars from me and any respect I wonder if the big people know how they treat some of us if they do then they are no better than the staff they hire...I HATE DCH OF TUSCALOOSA Before my grandmother died there she told of how the nurses abused her and that they were very mean to her...No telling how many more victims have suffered being there in DCH care...The only reason I gave one star cause it won't let you post anything until you do...Something needs to be done about how some of the staff and doctors are treating people when they come there for help...It's really said that I had to sit in a room for ova 2 hours before anyone came to give me meds...Staff was horrible...
Very slow, as well as racist. They treat their minority patients as if they're slow.
My husband was admitted through the Direct Admit process for a bad urinary tract infection. The staff in DACU were efficient and very professional in processing his orders and getting prepared for admission to his hospital bed. Although his care on the unit was okay - nobody went out of their way to check on him during the shift even when they didn't know he had somebody in the room with him. As retired nurses, we expected for somebody to stick their head in the door, at least, each hour to make sure all was well.
My experience overall was less than decent. I give it that because I was in and out. I feel like the nurses were trying to move so fast that they undermined my conditions a lot. I went in and complained of chest problems and there was no X-Ray performed, no EKG, no one listened to me with a stethoscope, instead the nurse practitioner comes in and says let s get you doped up and out of here and that s exactly what they did. They didn t even attempt to properly diagnose my issues they just gave me pain medication. I left with the same chest complications i came in with. I genuinely feel like they did not care, they just wanted one less patient.
If only I could them a 0! They are the worst hospital around town! My boyfriend has been hit by a car and they have him in the waiting room waiting. After they lied to the paramedics and told them they was about to put him in a room. Also, I was told he was even brought in yet to know that his been here for more than 30 mins. The nurse that's sit at the front desk decides to get smart with people. After the fact, that the other nurse said that they have rooms available. They are terrible! Just like what DCH stands for DO NOT COME HERE!
A significant number of the people working here do not respect the seriousness and understand the meaning of healthcare. In general... While there are a good many it seems staff at all levels who probably do care and try... A large number of the staff include major personality issues to include being extremely immature, focused on socializing not work, down right rude with attitudes, and definitely not only not helpful but dangerously flippant. Too many of the staff are sitting around not really working while others seem overworked and ineffective. There is a high lack of communication on patient needs and procedural status. Hoping UAB offers a real option for serious healthcare. Would appreciate info on other options even if it means a major drive. Whoever is responding to these postings from DCH: while we have been here trying to reach out for help from case managers or the like, no one is responding. You have to know what is going on in your facility.
I was there for five hours the first half, I was on a stretcher in the hall way. The doctor was very nice but said one thing and did nothing! I was in pain, I never received any medication while I was there. They were not able to get a IV started on me because I m a hard stick. I was told the supervisor was coming to try and start a IV on me or they would just give me IM shots. Never started an IV or gave me any IM shots. I feel my five hours there was a joke! A wasted visit of my time and the staff. The doctor also said per my discharge I would be getting a shot of steroids that would really help me feel better. The nurse knew nothing about it. The lack of communication has always been a problem between the doctors and nurses. Overall my experience was typical for DCH!!
I have been here since 11:00 for a breathing treatment and haven't seen a doctor or put in a room yet! It's almost 3:00, and the receptionist is constantly telling me I am next! The worse!!
DO NOT COME HERE. It s 100% worth the drive to Birmingham to go to UAB. Terrible service.
I waited for 6 hours in the lobby hurting, exhausted from vomiting and tired. When I asked for the paper to sign myself out, I was moved to a triage eoom where I wasted an additional 45 minutes. A nurse practitioner came in and was so ride, I cried. They never did the proper tests for anything before shooting my butt with abgegera antibiotic.
I'm glad I have NEVER been treated here! I learned everything I needed to from how you treated Megan Rondini!
DCH stands for Don t Come Here. They are the worse. If you don t know what s wrong with you, then don t go there. They treat you for everything, but what s wrong with you.Thats if your not waiting all year to get seen. I sat 3 hours, just to get my armband and vitals taken my most recent visit. While sitting next to a 1year old whom had been bitten in the face by a dog with blood running down her ear and jaw.
Joke of a hospital, took 3 hours to get one COVID test done. The workers had little to no urgency in their duties, and took their sweet time when dealing with patients. 10/10 don t recommend
They give you good service but I went at 8 o clock pm left 4:50 in morning
This is the worst ER!!!! I have ever been to in my life. The nurse Susan and the rest of the staff members were completely rude, disrespectful. The way that I was talk to was very unnecessary I was crying and in pain and ...the nurses laugh in my face. They are definitely racist! I will never receive treatment from another doctor just because of the way I was treated that day..! I cried for days and I'm still am very emotional about the way I was treated! I feel sorry for anyone that is in need of help and seek medical attention at this hospital
Do not go to this hospital. This place should be a last resort. DCH might as well stand for Don t come here .
Both my husband and myself have been treated in the ER and were given wonderful care. For my visit, my nurse was extremely kind and caring. I was there to receive care after having a piece of food stuck in my esophagus. They did everything possible to help me and the doctor spent time, sitting next to me, explaining what all was going on, and they all made sure I had an easy follow up with a GI soon after my ER visit. If more people understood that an emergency room is for true emergencies, and that if you are waiting it means you aren't dying there would be less need to post negative reviews. I'm thankful for the caring medical staff at the DCH ER.
Cant possibly overstate how bad my recent emergency stay was here. Admitted but with no doctor for more than a day, no explanation as to treatment and the rudest/most threatening nurse Ive ever had help me while in the hospital. When I asked to leave due to lack of treatment, she intercepted my wife on the way to my room and told her she's make sure I was documented as "AMA," or "against medical advice" so my insurance wouldnt pay. Really, really professional. Imagine how the medical care was!
On 28th & 29th Sep 2020, I was Hospitalize at DCH Northport Medical Center for a Total Left Shoulder Replacement.. The staff for the registration
clerk to room service was SUPER very Professional. They exhibit great technical knowledge. They make my stay there for very pleasant and relaxing.
Torn my ACL and they told me it was fine and to put ice on it...
After a few days I went to an orthepedic office. It took them about 2 minutes to tell me I tore my ACL.
My 84 year old Dad has been in the emergency room for over 8 hours waiting for a room. No food, just water. Prisoners of war are treated better. What a joke of a medical facility!
They are very rude on the phone, instead of trying to see could they further assist you, CLICK, hangs phone up in face.
They couldn't tell me what was wrong with my 7 month old daughter they only ran a flu swab and that was the only thing they did. I waited the for 4 hours just for 1 test to come back and then tell me they dont know what was going on with my daughter.
Just spent the night with a buddy in the Emergency room, and our nurse Anna was great. Very sweet and funny. He was very anxious to go to the hospital in the first place, but after a few minutes she instantly made him feel much better. Kept us well informed of everything and went out of her way to make both of us comfortable. We had a nice doctor as well, but I forgot her name. Thanks DCH!
Yesterday, I brought my husband in having a heart attack.
It was shocking to watch how the E.R sprang into action.
EVERYBODY was doing EVERYTHING all at one time.
The time from From E.R to a post surgery room in CICU totaled less than 2.5 hours.
OUTSTANDING!!!
Everyone did a great job caring for Ken & keeping me & the family informed.
The CICU nurses were some of the most caring & thorough I've ever encountered in any hospital.
Thank you Lyssa Sutton, Jason Grantham & Terri White for taking care of Ken.
You are all AMAZING!
Don t ever think to visit this place. The worst at all.
Addressed my concerns well and ordered appropriate tests.
All staff seem to be proficient at their jobs.
I hope and pray that I never need to go to the emergency room ever again. The people acted as though they were automated. There was no empathy, no help, etc. They just put you through the process and do their best to push you out as fast as they can. I laid there in extreme pain for more than two hours after my car flipped over and landed upside down with me hanging by my seat belt. I laid on a stretcher without anyone to help or talk to. I didn't have my phone with me. I didn't have the cord available that you push to call a nurse. The ER doctor forgot to call in an order for pain medication. I needed to use the bathroom and didn't know if my body was broken anywhere. In desperation, I inched myself down towards the bottom of the stretcher since the sides were raised, and then I got into a standing position and held onto the bed. Everyone out in the nurse's station were sitting at computers. A male nurse happened to be walking by and saw me. He came to see if I needed help. Afterwards, I was taken to X-rays and a CT scan. Each time, I was asked to move myself physically from one stretcher to another. I finally requested that they just slide me on the sheet, because I could no longer stand the pain in my back and hips. Then I was transported to a room where I was left without turning on the light and again, no way of contacting anyone. Not only that, they lost an article of my clothing as well as my driver's license. Then they did not give me pain medication until they were ready to discharge me. It made me sick and I had to take a minute to let it pass. I hope to never see this place again...
DCH = Don t Come Here.
If you are very ill, go see a doctor in Birmingham.
The nurses are not attentive. They are always on their phones at the nurses station.
My grandmother almost didn t make it because the machine didn t alert the nurses when her breathing was low!!
Throw the hospital away or hire better staff and managers. This is hospital is ridiculous.
So disappointed. Please save yourself a trip by coming to this place. Seriously.
Everyone was so nice and patient, even the X-ray Technicians. This was the best visit there, I ve ever had . Thanks
Excellent facilities and great professional personnel. Very satisfied with my short stay at DCH.
Everyone at DCH is very attentive of my husbands needs before and after his surgery!
The service was fine, but the billing department is horrible. They refused to accept my insurance info arguing, rather strangely, that they do not know the correct PO mailing address for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama!
Got there at 6 pm and left at 9pm without being seen. No one checked on me, and everybody that came in was seen before me. There was a nurse that was very unprofessional with some customers. I'm glad that I wasn't having a heart attack or anything.
The wound center staff were great and very professional. I wound always come back if needed. They are very friendly people.
This time, out of many stays we've had, has been very good. 7th floor staff was very prompt in requests for medication and any other needs. Corey, our RN and Leigh our PCS, both did a wonderful job and were very attentive.
I was so sick when they brought to the ER by ambulance that I could not even tell them my name. Took way too long to see a doctor and get treatment started. Had to put me in Direct Admit. Hospital full of flu. I know they were probably doing the best they could but it took way too long to see the doctor. When I did see him, he was very compassionate and on top of his game. The nurses in Direct Admit are super good at their job.
The ER service was terrible after we were seen we were to be discharged I was told 4 times they were working on it. 3 hours later and still nothing. The ER Dr asked how come we hadn t been discharged and the nurses said again they were working on it. Worst ER experience!!!! Hope we never have to come here again! Well I won t I will drive to Birmingham anywhere but here!
My mother was recently admitted to and treated by DCH for a femur fracture. She received reconstructive surgery and was discharged on 12/20 with a guarantee from DCH's Home Health department that she would arrive home to all of the equipment she needed to recover safely, including a bedside commode and a wheelchair equipped with leg supports. None of this equipment was present, nor was she given contact with any of her doctors or an intake appointment with the Home Health agency until yesterday (12/29). In the meantime, she was referred to the DCH oncology department for treatment for lung cancer she does not have, and was sent a physical therapist (the only contact she had with DCH's physical therapy personnel after her discharge) who was under the impression that she had been given a hip replacement, not reconstructive surgery for a fractured femur. She has not had a nurse since she left the hospital, and thus has not had her hair washed or anyone to properly exercise her leg, despite frequent attempts to get this situation rectified.
This experience has been abominable, and were we not as versed as we are in the medical system and recovery processes, this would have been unspeakably disastrous for her. Were I able to leave zero stars, I would.
I was isolated on the Covid unit for seven days. I have nothing but the highest praise for the care I received. Nurses, PCAs and all other ancillary staff were excellent. Physician's were great and personally called my family to keep them informed of my progress. Thank you all for your care and commitment during these difficult and uncertain times.
This was the fastest I have gotten in and seen a Dr
This is by the far the Worst hospital in Alabama not the people so much but the process...they will literally allow u to die then check on u 3hrs later to see if u okay....i came to the emergency room with my daughter and we came at 6pm and its now 1am and we still are in the waiting room....so if u need serious medical attention dont go there u will die..and they dont care nothing about u
As soon as I got to a room in the ED. I thought a room should be cleaned. The had left over Blood in lab tube laying on the cart and then after urine sample I have gave was left on the cart not thrown away by the RN after collecting it in lab tube. Also the was a linen bag almost full in room. I think when a new patient goes to a room that had a dirty linen bag should not be in the room with a clean room when a patient comes in.
Long wait in emergency room before getting a hospital bed
Too many sticks that would not work in emergency room
Otherwise kind and helpful employees
Once on floor - great service
Call bell was immediately answered
Food was placed within reach
Nurses and all other employees were kind and helpful
Do not go here.. last place I would ever want my family to be at. If you can drive to Birmingham to UAB then I recommend driving.
Literally had 5 different people come in and tell me that they are gonna get me out of here soon. All I need is a prescription refill. Been here 2 hours. Never again.
Had no problems. Every one was helpful and polite. Waiting time was not that long.
Worst hospital ever. Micu nurses on day shift are the worst. They're rude and disrespectful and they treat the patients like dirt. It's ridiculous at how badly they treat their patients and still have a job. Especially the elderly patients they do no take care of them properly and are rough and rude. They do not even help them when help is needed. This place isn't fit for a dog to be seen at.
Went to Er with abdominal pain and dizzy spell that made me fall. I never saw an actual dr they nurse practitioner never examined me. They said all I had wrong was a UTI yet my radiology report shows an ovarian cyst was found. Highly disappointed with how I was treated by the nurse practitioner! She basically told me I wouldn t find out what is WRong with me in the ER
We have experienced excellent care, so far, for my wife, who I brought to the ED in extreme respiratory distress on Friday night, 8/10/18. She was quickly moved to a trauma room. Her only complaint was a marked lack of compassion and common courtesy from the nursing staff, who did their jobs but never smiled, spoke kindly or responded to her cries of pain. But she is quick to defend them that she was never ignored. We are not complaining about her care as it was excellent. She was an ED employee (clerical) 20 years ago, and totally missed the caring, affectionate staff she remembered. But that s not professional medical response. The main point of this review is to say her life threatening condition was assessed and handled. Within 5-6 hours she was moved to an ICU in much better condition. For this we are eternally grateful. We are now on our first day out of MICU on 2SE and again as in ICU, the staff and the care have been outstanding.
In the ED, Teah and Ashlyn and Dr Green were life savers; in MICU Carlye and TJ were beyond wonderful and professional; and so far on 2SE every staff member has been prompt, kind and professional. Thank you for caring so well for my wife. We are proud of our medical community!
Every time I come I have the worse experience. This time I went the only thing they did was do a mouth swab for the flu. I ve been sick for a couple weeks. Horrible cold, eyes matted everyday, throwing up sore body. All they did was prescribed mucinex. I had another horrible night, they really don t care. They told me a virus and it can t be treated. They told my son the same thing I had to take him to children s and he ended up with menagitis. Worse doctors in Alabama.
My dad was admitted on Tuesday afternoon and was having a heart cath at 11 the next day. So here we are at 1:20 still waiting. Someone finally came and told us it would Ibe in the next hour. I am guessing they were behind all day it would have been nice to know earlier as some of us took off work to be there by 11. I realize they cannot help when things happen and they get behind but they couldet you know.
Outstanding Healthcare Facility. The staff provided outstanding care for my wife.
MY STAY DCH THIS TIME BETTER THAN AWESOME! MY PRAYERS GOES UP FOR THE SEVENTH FLOOR SOUTH ALL THE NURSES, STUDENT NURSE, THE DOCTOR AND MY DOCTOR JOHN DUFFY III THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CARE, AND CONCERNS FOR MY FAMILY.
They took entirely too long to see me. And I waited at least 2 hours in pain, before I received any pain medicine. My worst experience at this Hospital by far. .
Worst experience ever and it gets worse with every visit this place need to be shut down
If your looking for somewhere that cares about all the patients that come through there door this is emphatically not it these are the type of people who would put a Band-Aid over a gunshot wound and call it care I would not send my enemies half dead dog to this place. This hospital is a monument to a capitalistic way of being no insurance no care. If you want to make America Great Again let's start with health care for all. And just a lil side America has not technically been great since the 1950s when we were ranked #1... manifest destiny my asthma
GREAT CARE WAS PROVIDED BY ENTIRE STAFF. Doctors, nurses, room service, and everyone else on staff. EXCELLENT CARE AND TREATMENT
THANK YOU!!!
John Stephen GRAY
Well I had labs done and a urinalysis that never got sent to the lab. As far as the ER doctor she was fine. Everyone was nice otherwise.
I was told I was going to be next after sitting there for HOURS hurting but never got called to the back. I hate coming to DCH
I had my baby at 2:30p.m. and didn't get something to eat until 6pm. More importantly I've asked for 2 bottles for my daughter the first bottle took an hour and a half to get. The second bottle I am still waiting a hour and a half later. They have not offered to change her or check if she needed changed due to the fact I can't pick her up right now. She's wet and I have to call someone to come to the hospital just to change my daughter and bring a can of formula since they can not handle it. I gave one star because my ob doctor was good!
I wish I could rate zero stars. Absolutely awful. My mom arrived by ambulance from the surgical center. Waited in direct admit for almost 7 hours for a room. Medication and other items ordered by the admitting doctor took over 18 hours to arrive. Nurses rarely came in the room unless called and when called took almost an hour to arrive. I ve always been an advocate for our local hospital but not anymore. The standard of care is completely unacceptable. I have contacted administration and asked to be contacted.
I came to DCH at 1 a.m on a Wednesday night (technically Thursday morning) due to wisdom tooth pain that was keeping me awake at night & hurting me to eat, swallow, etc. Apparently they are SUPER short staffed on this shift because I say in the ER waiting room for 4 1/2 hours before I was even taken to a room to see a doctor. My tooth had been hurting me all day & my mom set up an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed, but I needed something for the pain until then. I waited in the room for another hour or more before I was seen by a nurse or doctor or anyone. They need to get this together!
I spent over 7 hours on DEC 26, 2019 in the ER. I sat for 2 hours before I was checked in. Then two hours in a room in triage before I saw anyone. Then to a room. They ran tests . The reason I was there because I could not put weight on my left foot. Could not walk. One person left my to go in the bathroom for a urine test and did not help me. I did made it in and out of the room. The person from Ex Ray was there to help me back to the bed she rolled me on. The Doctor said it was cellulitis. So when you think about it I sat in a wheelchair for close to 4 hours with my left leg and foot down. I'm writing the on Jan 5,2020. My left leg is still swelled. So I'm calling my Doctor Jan 6 for an appointment.
Just wanna thank everyone from house keeping to the DR's for taking great care of my niece while she had her precious baby there Sunday. U guys rock. Thank u.
I was sent to DCH ER from Urgent Care due to the infected stated of a 2 day old grease burn on my right arm. I was seen promptly and treated with gentle and good care.
Dr. Martin was AWESOME.
Triage nurses were helpful and on point.
Quickly seen with urgently symptoms.
My only issue was having to wait 2 hrs to discharging after Dr. Martha ordered it. I think we would have been there longer if he hadn't directly told nurse to go do it.
I wouldn't even give them a star. Worst hospital ever. My 1 year old was running 102 fever and vomiting on the floors and they were taking people that came in waaayyy after us on in.. took us over 3 hours to be seen. By the time we were seen he had over 103 fever and vomiting all over the place. Never will I come here again..... then said the same thing they always say... it's viral.. not everything is viral... went to another hospital and they said it was strep and gave him antibiotics...
Wonderful place honestly, no one is perfect & Everybody has there bad days.
Staff were outstanding!
Bed was uncomfortable...no capability to control room lights from bed.
IV pump made noises loud enough to keep me awake most of the night.
Food was great.
Nurses were very nice and did a great job making sure I was comfortable. The DR or Nurse Practitioner that did the procedure kept me calm. Very good experience this time.
Go to another hospital if you want your symptoms treated and to be taken care of.
Very friendly, efficient and thorough. I was treated and checked out in a very timely fashion. Couldn't have asked for better care.
The wait is too long after you are discharged.after the doctor said I could leave I had to wait 2 hours before I could leave
I was in tremendous pain they took me straight back and immediately started to figure out what was wrong had and CT scan and found out it was from my back I was to have surgery two days after that day but I could not stand the pain and they figured out it was coming from my back my broken bones on my nerves they were very good to me
Considering the bad reputation the hospital has, they treated me pretty good. They were very attentive to me. Considering the fact that their computers were down, they still did pretty good.
Dr. Gene Walker is very rude. He pratically accused me of be there for opioid treatment. It didnt matter that I have been sick with a severe migraine for 6 days. I have never been treated in sure a horrible way by a Dr.
I was there a couple of hours before shift change. First shift (before 3pm) stuck me in a room and forgot about me, but by the time the next shift came I was tested and out of there within a timely manner. O gave 4 stars because the 2nd shift were rockstars they were constant in making sure my visit was well.
Shirley in the business department was able to provide the information I needed without any hesitation. I didn't have to go through any red tape or the department head. I have found that the billing and business department are very cooperative and helpful.
Everyone was efficient and very kind. Dr. Christen was thorough and explained everything where we could understand our medical situation and offered advice moving forward.
Great experiece. Nurses and doctors treated me very well. Special thanks to terri ,who arranged thru my cell phone to get me home. Ubba.
My experience was awful. The nurses wouldn't listen to me. I am so disappointed.
Slowest hospital in the world. Went in to get treated for upper back pains and was placed in a room forever. Doctors nor nurses bothered to check on me
