ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! 5 HOURS FOR AN XRAY AND INCONSIDERATE DOCTOR!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! 5 HOURS FOR AN XRAY AND INCONSIDERATE DOCTOR!
I when here with chest pain and left there with chest pain and I m a heart patient I done had two open heart surgery with one bypass each time. The doctor I had was very rude to me. I would like for them to know if wasn t in pain I wouldn t be coming there I would go to UAB in Birmingham where I had my surgery.
Came here for pain in lower right abdomen. Sat in the ER for 7 hours, they said I needed to be admitted. I left the hospital briefly knowing there would be a slight delay when I checked back in. At around 12:30am the nurse told me I was going to room728. We just had to wait fir an escort, at 2:00am I am still sitting in the libby waiting for an escort. 1 1/2hours is absolutely unacceptable to be kept waiting when they have the room ready. Totally unacceptable!
The ER really needs to figure out a better way to treat people it is not ok to wait 7 he in an emergency room I get a lot of people need help but they really need to do better
Staff was professional and got to work quickly. Very pleased with all aspects of our visit. Was able to diagnose the problem and provide excellent are.
Horrible I've been here two hours with breathing problems and chest pain this is very sad..... and no one has called my name or nothing the worse service for a hospital
Terrible hospital!! Dont go here!!! Receptionist, doctors, & nurses are extremely terrible
The 6th floor nurses are the best I've ever encountered anywhere! Also good nurses on 5 North. I first entered a semi private room on the 2nd floor, but I was told by two people that it was private, even though it had two beds. I needed immediate access to the restroom. Then, they admitted a man in the other bed. This guy was a smoker and he reeked of tobacco odor. After he got settled in, he and his lady friend were brought a meal from the kitchen. The staff rolled a bedside table for them to eat at, and I heard them talking about how this was like a vacation. Soon there were 4 adult visitors and a small child visiting the man, laughing and talking loud, while the child milled around my bed. I complained, and the next day I was moved to the 6th floor.
During several stays at DCH, over a 3 month period, I contracted c. diff, which is a terrible disease. It causes diarrhea and usually it is very difficult to eat anything. While I was recovering, sometimes I would ask the food service for a little extra food when I felt I could eat. Usually, my request was granted, but on two occasions, even though I literally begged, I was denied a few grilled shrimp, and another time a hamburger patty. Never mind I missed many meals because of c. diff. The people taking those orders were hateful! I thought back to the guy on the 2nd floor, and how he and his guest were treated. You figure out why. DCH has really good food, but some hateful people in food service!
The cleaning staff were great, and they did a good job cleaning the room! I stayed in about 5 or 6 different rooms during my 5 stays. As, I said, the nurses are great!
ER triage isn't the best. I was extremely ill and sat there for hours. One person took my temp and said it was normal. I kept telling them that I was running a fever, so finally they took it again and it was almost 102. Almost passed out and begged them for somewhere to lay down, to no avail.
DCH is all we have, and they have many great doctors and nurses. I would like to be on a citizens committee that evaluates services and give recommendations for improvement. Patients need advocacy and a voice to help DCH be a top-notch health facility. I've been a patient over 40 days in the first half of 2017, and I feel uniquely qualified to provide constructive criticism.
Great care in Er from dr Barton. Seems to understand problem and course of treatment needed Nurses on 5th floor for room507 are great and very caring
I had to stay on stretcher in the hall the whole time I was there until 2 minutes before I was dismissed.
Ed staff were awesome. Ct staff was great. Umc doctors took great care of me. But still no answers to what is going on.
This hospital is terrible. You will wait in the waiting room for over 2 hours when there are only a few people in there. Go to any other hospital you can
Had cardiac issue last weekend requiring emergency care in the DCH Emergency Room. The care could not have been better. Dr. Cameron Sherrrill, Beau, Logan, Jeremy, David, and Teresa were all wonderful. From the time I walked into triage (did not get the names of the triage team, but they were excellent) to the time I walked out, it was just fabulous care. The care was fast, caring, and excellent. I had a heart rhythm that required immediate attention and cardioversion. I was cardioverted and felt ready to go home within 15 minutes of my arrival. I am so grateful for their care and will never hesitate to use this ED again. Thanks so much to all.
Admitted to room at 1:00 pm. No water or regular meds including sleep meds until 9:00am. No sleep all night. Told it was a mix up from ER. Drs were excellent and very helpful. Room clean. Food average. Nursing after 7:00am really great.
Very efficient I arrived in severe pain ps kidney stone and I was taken right back and everyone was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. I felt special and taken care of.
At the time I was there there compuers were down make the wait time long. The nurses and Dr were all good
Northport is very slow and rude to patient!!! Long wait
Nurses was kind, nice, and gentle and went out of their way to help you . Good job DCH
I had the best experience for my visit to DCH. I had a very caring Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. I would like to thank Palmer and Daniel for taking such great care of me. I feel like they did everything possible to get me feeling better and to find out what was going on with me. They just went above and beyond for me and I truly appreciate the efforts that they went to. Both of them were very kind with great bedside manners and that really goes a long way. Thank you both again for taking such great care of me.
I've visted the ER in the past year atleast three times. Each time the service was a great experience! Shorter wait time to be seen and the staff gave outstanding care to me and my family. Where in the past wait time to be seen took 3-4 hours and the staff seemed to be all about a check! The improvements to the ER were much needed. Keep up the good work!
I had a bad experience several months back in the ER. I was admitted yesterday and the staff here in the hospital has been nothing but 5 star. From imaging to holding to all the staff on the second floor have been excellent. Even the food has been great. Thanks for contacting me about my previous bad experience and making this one great. That s all people want. If you mess up try to make it right and you did. A special thanks to Patsy Adams for your help.
This time I had a good experience. I don't remember the DR's name but he was great, down to earth guy. They did all the could to get me back quick and get my pain under control.
I was brought into the ED my ambulance for severe back and lower front pain. Being that it is Covid-19 I had to travel alone to the hospital. Scared and in pain. ED Nurse Cody, and Nurse Practitioner, Rebecca, took great care of me. Found I had kidney stones, kept in as minimal pain as possible, and got me out of there as soon as practical. Great experience!
If I could give 0 stars I would. They admitted me from ER for syncope and discontinued most of my meds...my bp shot way up 208/123. The assigned hospitalist refused to treat it. Dr. Robert Sheppard, head of the hospitalist teams, refused to change my hospitalist and refused to transfer me. If you want to survive...stay far far away from this place. It's not a hospital at all...not by the definition of hospital anyway. DCH is just your last stop to heaven or hell!!
This place is a joke! There is no excuse for the way my mother was treated. Someone could easily die on their clock. Depending on these people for care is pointless.
The people were great - Everyone.... However, the facilities were not as clean as I would have preferred. A little shabby in places and that was after spending millions to upgrade and remodel a few years ago. You can do better.
I couldnt get through to you with the "contact us"page so I'm writing on here to let you know how I was treated on the phone... A few moments ag o I called from Banner Thunderbird Hospital Emergency Trauma Center from Glendale, Arizona to obtain medical records on a patient who was at your facility previously. I talked to the operator Peggy(I think), and what a great lady..happy,professional,good mood..just what I needed this early in the morning..She then gave me medical records,Anna .. and what a friendly, professional and great personality employee... both very willing to help.Went above and beyond. Spread their happy crystals over here .. deeply appreciated, THANK YOU !...Brent G., Health Unit Coordinator, BTMC Emergency Trauma Center.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !!!!!! This is the WORST hospital . My husband went in there with chest and breathing issues . The whole 5 hours we were in the hallway ,never made it into the room . They said that a cardiologist was coming to speak to us about all his test ..... they discharged him and the doctor never came . The on call doctor that was there all she did was check his vitals and said that she would be back and never came back. The only one positive thing I will say is the nurse that took care of my husband was amazing . They doctor care was HORRIBLE . ! !!!!!!
Much better than my 1st visit in July, great Nurses and Staff however it bothers me that my wife was so concerned about me and couldn't check on me.
I would give this place a 0 star rating if possible. Their emergency department is full of slow, lazy inconsiderate Dr's and nurses. The staff up front treat you like a drug seeker pretty much no matter what. My mother is hear now for what we are pretty sure is a badly broken foot. The Dr (Whom looks to be 15 years old) also treated her like a drug seeker as did the nurse. She obviously has a badly broken foot and has received no pain medication. The x-ray was done over an hour and a half ago now and she has pressed the call button for pain at least 5 times since. It seems all the other patients here are also being treated like a drug seeker as they are all paging their nurses and begging them to help their pain. And one of them even has a stab wound!
Visiting the DCH Emergency room is a complete waste of time and money
I visited the emergency room on Sunday April 2, 2017 with pain in my throat and immense problem with swallowing.
The person who had the title of doctor ( I think he is a phoney) first told me that my situation was not a true emergency. He then asked me what I would like for him to do? If I knew the answer to that question I would not be in the emergency room, now would I?!?!?!
The hospital charged me $150 to run some tests. The $150 charge was the only efficient part of my visit. After the tests, the doctor did not offer a diagnosis nor any treatment.
I left the hospital in the same amount of pain and trouble as I entered. The only difference was the money DCH took from me.
This is a worthless hospital. Stories like this are the reason so many people in Tuscaloosa prefer to get treatment in Birmingham, AL
Worst hospital experience except for the very sweet RN who took my blood. Staff was slow. Didn't seem to care that I was in pain. Ended up at another ER after I left and they we able to find a solution to help me.
I give 5 stars to Dr. Donald Conway at dch emergemcy room. I have had a lot of health problems over the past few years. I end up at the er once or twice a month. I had basically given up on drs bc none of them could ever figure out what is wrong. Everytime i have gone to the er especially this past year every dr i saw would just send me back home and acted like the5 didnt believe a word i said. Well a couple weeks ago i go to the er again bc i couldnt catch my breath. Was given an inhaler and sent home. Received a phone call the next day from the er saying if i wasnt any better to return to the er. Wo i did. Was diagnosed with bronchitis and emphysema. Was given antibiotics and steroids. About a week goes by and my breathing had continued to get worse despite the medicines. So i return to the er once again and was finaly given a breathing treatment and then was admitted. The following day i was sent home with a stronger antibiotic and stronger steroid. The day after i finished the antibiotic i started to have chest pains and pain in my back. So i wemt to the er one more time. And i was treated by Dr. Donald Conway. He is the very best Dr? I have ever met. He went above ahd beyond what he was required to do. He spent at least 10 minutes in my room listening to me explaim what all problems i was having. And when my breathing got worse and was hyperventilating he grabbed my habd and placed one yand on my shoulder and looked me in the eyes and promised me everythimg was going to be ok. He was actually genuinly concerned about my health and well being and how i felt. And he ran a bunch of tests. A lot of which ue wasnt actually supposed to do based on their protocol. But he did them anyway to make sure there wasnt anything more serious going on and to help ease my mind. And atter he got the results he spent about another 7 minutws explaining to me why it was hard to breathe and how i can calm my breathing back down when i needed to. Dr. Donald Conway has restored my faith in drs. He truly jade me feel better not only by lifting my spirits and easing my mind but justbthe way he listened. He is an absolutely amazing dr. I cannot explain how much i appreciate him and how grateful i am to have had him treat me.
DCH stands for Don't Come Here. Incredibly incompetent hospital. Held my mother-in-law captive, doctor would not call us, nurse hung up on us. Sent her home with a medication dosage above the advised limit by the manufacturer. Be safe, protect your loved ones and Don't Come Here.
My grandmother was told she had the flu, only to find out it was a blockage, and of course she died!!! I dislike this hospital with a passion! And on top of that my grandma wasn't the type of person to be sick, if action was taken sooner she would be here today!!!
I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could!!! I was on the phone with my son while on my way to his emergency room bedside as he SHOUTED OUT REPEATEDLY for a nurse for a full eight and a half minutes -- and no one came, even AFTER I arrived in his room. I had to go out to the nurse's station and ask the nurses -- who were SITTING AROUND APPARENTLY DOING NOTHING -- for help myself. Someone is going to die with "treatment" like this! Unfortunately, there is absolutely NO choice about where to go in Tuscaloosa. Maybe this is why they can get away with actions that are going to eventually KILL someone!
Worst Hospital Ever!!! They take LONG time to check on you. We got there at 3, the doctor came at 5, we went home at 9. DCH means ( Don t Come Here )
This is the WORST hospital I have ever been too hands down. Extremely uneducated, unhealthy and lifeless staff who complain about lifting a finger. DO NOT go there if you are in need of the ER they are so slow it's painful. Left this place in an awful mood. Staff is the worst part by far.
Two years ago, my wife received a call from their collections dept that we owed over $800 for an ER visit and that if we did not pay for it that day it would be sent to the credit bureau. Come to find out, they sent our bill to the wrong address even though they had the correct one on file. I paid the bill and let them know that this was unacceptable and could not happen again. Guess what? It did.
This afternoon we got a call from the same collections agency saying that we owed over $600 to pay for my wife's sinus surgery that she had performed in Decmeber. We haven't received anything in the mail, thru email, or over the phone. Come to find out, they sent that bill to the same wrong address as the previous one. Apparently they didn't get the memo since the last time this occurred, because they explained to me that although they were extremely sorry, the hassle of fixing their mistake would still fall on me since the bill had to be paid today or else it would hit my credit. How you can make this mistake twice is beyond insane. The funny thing is, the lady I spoke to said that this happens to a lot of other people, as if it's to be expected. This is simply lazy, irresponsible, and unprofessional service.
My advice is, if you go to DCH, you're going to have to walk many of them thru doing their own job.
I'm overseas have been 3 years and my mom is there, apparently, she had a stroke in the top of the head, my mom is afraid because she doesn't understand why this is going on she wants to move but can't yet on the right side so something happened to her leg she told them my leg hurt I can't move it my mom needs something for pain the nurses say we can't give her anything but Tylenol but when my sister argue with them they then bring ibuprofen and im told that the nurses acting like they don't want to do their jobs because one said it's only me and I can't do this like their very inpatient im told that the nurses are rude my mom's 68 like show her some kind of kindness it's just unacceptable.
great place, comfotable, good service, nice n clean
They take way too long for things that s not even that serious like a muscle pulled I should ve been in the back and out of here already other people are actually hurting out here and they have taken 2 people to the back since I been here this is crazy.
Very unhappy with dch we've been here for almost 24 hours now and have no idea what's going last night the doctor ran several test on my wife including a spinal tap and just left without telling us anything we had no idea she had left until a nurse came in and told us we we're being admitted and we still don't know why we we're admitted no one will tell us anything the nurses either won't get on touch with the dr. Or can't my wife paged the nurse to come help her that was 15 - 20 minutes ago we are seriously considering asking to be discharged and going to mobile infirmary
My mother recently came home after surgery. For the most part, her experience was pleasant. As pleasant as having surgery during a pandemic when family isn t allowed. One night, the alarm on her IV machine went off for two hours about 1am-3am. After repeatedly calling for help and receiving no help, my mother got out of bed to find help. She was intercepted by a CNA in the hallway. The CNA then went to the nurse s station to tell her about the issue. The nurse responded Oh, she ll be alright not knowing that my mother was nearby in the hallway within hearing distance. I understand being overworked and tired at work, especially now, but such a blatant lack of disregard for a patient s needs is completely unacceptable. It s lucky that my mom was not incapacitated and could go seek help. But for the folks who cannot advocate for themselves, I hope this is a notice for DCH to do better.
Everyone from Triage (Hannah), to my nurses (Katheryn and Ally Ray), to my Dr (Dr Hinda Green), to my CT scan techs (Jake and Amanda, Devin), to my registration person (Holden), and to my discharge nurse (Abby) were very professional and treated me with kindness. I appreciated the way I was treated and felt like the people looking after me cared for me. Thank you so much.
Horrible!! My first time there and trust me, I hope like hell it's my last. The wait is entirely too long, I was there for 8 hours. This is by far the worst ER I have ever visited, I'm speaking of the wait time. The service was ok but I have had better. It's best you dnt go there if you have an extreme emergency. You would definitely die b4 you get seen. By all means, bypass DCH!!
Came into ER with laceration on face, didnt get treated for 7 hours, barely ever checked on or updated
DCH is terrible. Medical and office staff. Particularly when collecting money owed. They operate in a college town where the vast majority of patients are students whose housing leases change year to year. Yet their only form of notification when money is owed is through paper mail. No calls, voicemails, emails, or the like. They will send mail to whatever address they have on file and if it isn't responded to they will call a collection agency to handle bill collecting for them. I'm a graduate of the University of Alabama (no longer in Tuscaloosa) and DCH recently called a collection agency on me for blood tests my doctor ordered several months ago while I still lived in Tuscaloosa. It was my first time hearing about it and it was really concerning for someone who is trying to establish credit early in their career. The collection agency couldn't give me any details as to why I owed $300 dollars, yet I paid it anyways. Now, a month later I receive a call from an automated operator (after DCH bus. hours) asking for my account number (which I have never been given), and I'm assuming they want more money from me. But, I couldn't confirm or deny that because the call was after hours.
To add to this when I had the blood tests done, the lab tech did a poor job of inserting my IV which resulted in me blacking out and waking up on the ground in a terror screaming bloody murder. I don't trust DCH with my money or my medical care.
I was treated with smiles and concern nurses that gave their 100 percent to make my stay comfortable.
Was the worse treatment ever. Never had a complaint until now. Had a rude dr treat me like I didn't matter. Made me feel less than human.
My girlfriend and I were overwhelmed with how easy the process was and how caring and sincere everyone we met with was in the ER. Dr. Martin and Carson, our RN, were both incredible. As far as transparency, speed, convinience, and overall quality of care go, we couldn t be happier. Thank you!
Sitting in the ED as I type this. My father in law presented to ED @ 7:30 with a blood sugar of 27. They immediately took him back, gave D50, drew labs and continued to monitor and recheck blood sugar. However, @ 2:25pm (7 hours later) will not feed him. BS is continuing to decline and we have asked several times for lunch and even though they have no idea why he CAN T eat, they still will not feed. I know you are busy with multiple patients. But ignoring beeping machines, not answering calls and not attending to basic needs are unacceptable.
Recently discharged. ER was busy but that happens. Doctors and nurses were very nice. My potassium was extremely low so they recommended I be checked in. Had diarreah and severe abdominal pain for a week and have lost 10 lbs so far. Once upstairs everything changed. Hospitalist told me I was not in pain but seeking drugs. (Like I would choose incontinence and diarrhea and losing 10 because I can't eat just to get a day or two of iv pain relief while they figured out what was going on). I spiked a fever of 102 9 that night but continued to be told all they would do was correct my potassium and now magnesium as it also dropped. Asked doctor if he really believed I was in no pain and he answered yes. I was doubled over in tears with pain but he said I was just wanting drugs. I have crohn's. There wasn't a blockage but fever probably means infection. I was diacharged. Didn't feel like being treated like a waste of their time. Nurse deassed my port incorrectly causing the charge nurse to have to keep me an hour longer so she could re access it and lock it with heprin so I wouldn't get a blood clot. I asked the first nurse to do that and she said no (this is not an option, it is standard nursing practice to flush ports with saline and the lock them with 5cc of heprin). A day or two later I looked at my discharge lab results. My white count was 18,900 on the day they diacharged me. Normal is less than 10 to 12,000 and because I take medicine that suppresses my immune system mine normally dosent get higher than 6,000. So this is a very high white count for me and even a concern for someone whose immune system is not suppresses. I still am losing weight and have diarreah. Now I am pretty sure I probably also have a port infection that they did not address. No antibiotics given. Guess since according to the hospitalist nothing is wrong with me I will continue to live feeling like this. I will not go back to DCH and being treated as a drug addict. My next Infusion when my port will be accessed is in mid January. If I spiked a fever then it will answer whether it is is infected or not. If that happens DCH can talk with they lawyer I will hire.
My name is Darnell lucious jr I came April 17 2018 when I got there they asked for a urine sample and blood samples. I stayed for 3 to 4 hours nd through out the entire time being there all samples remained on the counter top. Another nurse said they checked my blood samples and they were good. But the samples never left the room. Before being discharged a my nurse through the blood samples in the dirty needle container. They are not checking people correctly and that can be the reason someone loses their life cause y'all not doing y'all jobs. Do something about it or me and a bunch of other unhappy patients will do our best to have you shut down. I will never!!!!!!!!come back to Dch in Tuscaloosa.
DCH is only getting 4 stars from me for this visit because the nurses in MICU1 were so good, understanding, and compassionate. They deserve 5 stars, but I had to deduct one star because I have never come into contact with so many supposedly expert IV administrators (not including the ones in MICU1) who cannot start an IV without causing unnecessary pain and discomfort. They want to stick you multiple times and (especially the male ones) don't seem to care anything about the amount of pain they are causing.
I understand that some pain is involved with the starting of an IV. I am ready for that. But they managed to make each one of them feel like someone was driving a red hot poker into my arm (I had six of them). Then, after a few days when my arm swells and begins to hurt, and I inform the nurses about this, not a single one of them cared. From this experience - I can assume that patient comfort is not on anybody's agenda at DCH.
Otherwise, this visit was much improved from last year as far as wait time in the ER was concerned.
They are too slow. If you dying youll die waiting. I was there for 7 hours before I had been seen. Some of the people were real sick and they just wakking around looking cute. Laughing and playing
Had a miscarriage while sitting in the waiting room for 3 hrs. So if your ready to lose your mind then go to dch. If not then please go somewhere rlse
ER is TERRIBLE ! Plus, DCH uses some outfit in Salt Lake City UT for billing... and if you pay online and send a check to this outfit, you can expect calls from DCH demanding their money!! DCH needs to dump this billing service and contract with a LOCAL agency!! John E, Tuscaloosa
I went to DCH on my most recent visit to the outpatient lab. Although the doctor's office personnel assured me the lab orders were already sent to the lab, they had not been sent. Since it was lunch time, no one was in the office too take care of sending the orders. I had to make another trip there once the lab notified me that they had received the orders. The lab personnel were very friendly. This mix up was in no way their fault.
Obviously they dont have a janitor because this place is dirty and filthy
The most horrible hospital I have been to in my life. I wouldn't send my dog there there very slow and it takes them 3 hours to see me and it was only 7 ppl and I was n there before they were
A lot of ppl have bad things to say about DCH, but it's not the worse place to be. Our recent stay, was to deliver our second child via C-section. We arrived through the ER where we checked in and were taken to labor and delivery. Check in went smooth. The nurses in labor and delivery were wonderful! I received an epidural, the anesthesiologist did a great job and I felt nothing during the csection. Recovery went well and then I was sent to my room. I had one not so great nurse on the floor but all the other nurses, PCAs, and house keeping were amazing. The food service left off some of my food a couple of times, but other than that the food wasn't bad. My overall experience and stay at DCH, was very good.
Care is ok, but the billing department is totally disorganized. I call and they tell me I do not owe anything then the next day I get a bill for $300. and call the number on the bill and it says leave a message and we will get back to you at their convenience, yet they turn you over collections while you are waiting on them to return the call. SUX!!!
The doctors, surgeon, and nurses took excellent care of me. They knew how nervous I was and kept reassuring me that everything would be ok.
we had a traffic group of Nurses and PCAs on 6Center and 6North. They included: Debbie, Teresa, Kajasa, Jennifer, Bianca, Lacey, Brittany, Sarah, Amaria, Barbara, and Maria. My, husband, Johnny was admitted on Nov. 4,2018 and stayed through Nov. 14,2018 due to fluid and CHF. I am very please with the care from DR. Shah and DR. Call and all the nurses we had while at DCH. They meet all our need in a very timely and efficient manner and answered all questions we had.
Long 3 hour wait
Didn t even get to see doctor or NP before I decided to leave.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. DCH stands for Don t Come Here this is a horrible place and never seems to get better! My wife and I arrived at 4pm didn t leave until 1 am. Mind you they discharged me with fluid on my lungs. They should really shut this place down or get rid of everyone and find people who genuinely cares!
This was the 1st time I years that I've been at Tuscaloosa DCH and was satisfied with the service and attitude of the staff. There was this RN by the name of Ian. He was so patient and kind and caring with my Dad! That is so very rare! There definitely needs to be more Ian's in this world!! We lucked up today bc there were a few more nice ppl, like the woman that checked us in and took his vitals. I didn't see her name bc her badge was backwards. Thanks for all that y'all do!!
I've always had great service. I was put in the Childrens room about 2 yrs ago and they always conversated with me and was really nice and always checked on me and made sure they found out what was wrong. Not to mention I was born in the women's pavilion part. And I am still alive and healthy lol. But overrall its a good hospital.
They have horrible service. We have been here since 9 am and it's 6:30 pm and a doctor still hasn't seen us. The nurse staff are unattentive. They don't pay attention to y pi u for no long than 2 minutes and after that they forget about. Worst hospital service ever. If I could give it 0 stars I would!!!!
I was admitted to room 645 on oct. 7th. This unit, with the exception on RN Angela,RN Mychal, PCA Renetha and PCA Jess is a complete joke. In for severe chest pain. Takes at least an hour to get meds. On sat morning i called for pain and naucea meds at 9 am. Finally got pain meds at 10.30. Never got nausea meds. I will be going to uab from now on
Went in with leg pain and it turns out its pain coming from my spine. I'm writing this review to tell you Dr. Noah Lott is the nicest ER Dr I have ever had. He went well beyond testing to figure my pain. He would make a great primary Dr. Thank you Dr Noah Lott...you deserve that name. The nurses and other staff were very helpful as well. It seems DCH has made a few changes that has improved overall ER visits.
On L&D for PTL. The entire team is great! All my nurses very sweet and accommodating to all my requests (though I tried to be reasonable). My physician is very communicative with them and myself, practicing high quality, standard of care medicine. Phlebotomists were very friendly and got both my lab draws so far with one stick.
Will return for delivery.
This Hospital needs to be bought and ran by UAB,
I waited 3 hours in the Emergency Room Waiting Room to be seen for a possible broken foot..
There were 6 people in the waiting room when I got there..
While I was waiting to be seen.
I witnessed 3 elderly people being brought in,
One was possibly having a stroke, another one had fallen and was in alot of pain.
The other one I overheard her telling others she was brought in by Ambulance and was put in the waiting area...
Due to NO rooms available in the back....
University of Alabama can build a stadium to hold Thousands of people..
But DCH can't build a bigger Hospital?
Hire Dozens of Drs to work the ER..
Stop contracting them out to Drs from other States...
Nobody should have to wait to be seen..
I left after waiting 3 Hours and went to another medical facility..
Where I waited 30 minutes and got seen,
DCH is really living up to their name..
Don't Come Here...
The checking in nurse in the ER was rude, but everything else went smoothed.
Everyone was really nice, the nurses and the doctor all were good and polite and the doctor took his time to explain things but my only complaint is that I literally spent 10 HOURS at the ER!!!!
Before I complain about the management in this facility, I really appreciate the service the first responders are doing and all the nurses and the doctors, it is not easy to be in your shoes at all.
My only issue is with the time. I went im at around 7pm and returned home at 5am. It took them close to 4 hours before they took my blood work and my CT scan was done at around 2am. I would not have had this complaint if my problem was diagnosed but they could not diagnose the issue nor could give the proper pain medication for me to get over the pain.
I just wish after spending 10 hours, there could have been a diagnosis atleast. I would have been happy with that.
When you read reviews that say not to go to a hospital, don't make the mistake we did--LISTEN TO THOSE REVIEWS!! Don't make the same mistake, seeing that someone from DCH is taking the time to come on here and address concerns making it APPEAR that they are making an effort to do better. THEY ARE NOT!
While on a cross country trip from South Carolina to California, my mother developed pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) that landed her in the hospital in California. Now my parents had to make the trip back home to SC in this unfortunate situation. They were close to Tuscaloosa when it was clear she needed to be seen again because of blood loss and they ended up at DCH. She ended up being severely anemic because of the anticoagulant she was on for her PEs. They insisted she be admitted to have a blood transfusion. Ok, great! Take care of her. Except that EVERYTHING they did, she had to wait for HOURS! The NEXT MORNING, after it being 24 hours since she first arrived, they said her iron was still too low and they needed to do two more transfusions. That they would need to wait 4 hours after the second one to test her blood to see if she could leave. Sounds great, get it done so they can get home. 11:00 PM, they STILL HADN'T DONE THE FINAL BLOOD TEST!! THEY WERE STILL WAITING! HOW COULD TWO TRANSFUSIONS AND A BLOOD TEST POSSIBLY TAKE AN ENTIRE DAY?!
Then had the audacity to have her do ANOTHER CT scan, where they determined she needed to stay in the hospital because she had blood clots in her lungs. YOU DON'T SAY!?! That's why she's on the anticoagulants, which they made clear from the beginning!!
A really good way to collect more money from patients and insurance companies---keep them there as long as possible and do ridiculously expensive unnecessary tests like CT scans. She'd already had a CT scan at the previous hospital, WHICH SHE SHOWED THEM. Yet somehow they insisted she needed another.
My parents finally left, without even doing that final blood test, because they were so sick of waiting. The staff there had the nerve to give looks to them as they left, as if my parents were in the wrong.
If all the other reviews and this one have not made it clear this far, let me clarify--DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! Do yourself a favor and drive a little farther and go somewhere else!!
DCH (Don't Come Here) To many horror stories to post here. Avoid it unless you have no other choice. As a general rule, I think the doctor's and nurses are good hard working professional's. The problem is the system is broken. The place needs an overhaul
Sitting here with Bobby but he's going home in a little while feeling much better.
This hospital "overall" is laughable if you are having a child please do some research before choosing dch. This hospital has Dr's & Nurses that DO NOT care about you. You are just another number to them...they are very rude and do not discuss things with you or your loved ones. They will make a plan that's best for them and they will go with that. No matter what do your own home work and research all Dr's and Hospitals before hand.
Concerned Parent.
I went to dch last night because I have what I'm assuming to be a virus. I tried to call the night before to find out what I could take for the pain and everything else that came along with it because I am breastfeeding my daughter and didn't want to take anything that could harm her. They wouldn't answer any questions over the phone and said I had to come in and be seen, so I waited the whole day for my mother to get off to help me with the kids while we went to see the doctor. I got there at 6pm. By 7:30 I had still not got called back but everybody else who came in after me had already been seen, so I go up to the desk to find out when I'll be at least in intake and explained why I was there. She took me into I take and said a doctor will be in to talk to me since all I really wanted was advice and to just go lay down. Another 30 minutes goes by and she finally brought me a bracelet and then nothing. So finally I just got up asked to sign myself out and I left because the pain was unbearable sitting up. I am extremely disappointed in dch. I've given good reviews before but this was by far the worst experience. As much pain as I was in and I couldn't even talk to a medical professional. All I really needed was advice to know what to take or at least a prescription so I know my daughter would be safe while I was going through this virus.
Plan on showing up an hour after the time your surgery is scheduled for. That way you ll likely show up right on time...
Also, the patient portal is pretty much useless. Can t even list the name of the procedure? How about showing the surgeons report!
Everyone involved were professional and courteous and timely. Good Job
If 0 was an option I sure as hell would have used it. Multiple family members of mine are employed as medical professionals. So believe me when I say this is the most unprofessional slow, lazy group of medical professionals I've ever encountered. I sat in this hospital for 9 hours before I left. I spent 1.5 hours waiting before even being added as a patient and getting my vitals checked. Then another 1.5 hours before going to an exam room. Then I waited in an exam room for an hour and 15 minutes before being told that they closed that portion of the ER at 11 and that they would not be able to see me and do my workup before then. It was 9 o'clock when they told me this. At 920 they took blood and had me pee in a cup and sent me back to the waiting room. They finally moved me to an exam room where I sat until 230ish am without seeing a doctor and only having my vitals checked once. At 230 I left. When people say this is the worst hospital it truly is. My family was appalled when they heard about how I was treated at this hospital.
im in the 5 floor tonight and man the nurse and pca we were left with today are garbage i dont know how they let these kind of people work in a hospital they need to be fired i know they dont represent all the people here but they tarnish this places reputation
I have been quite a few times with me and my child, but I always get the best service here. Great Nurses and Doctors <3
I had to be rushed to the ER Sept. 27 due to anaphylaxis from an antibiotic.
I was taken straight back to a room and two nurses stayed with me the entire time.
The doctor came in three times and I was gone in under 4 hours.
I haven't always gotten help this fast or good. I've heard they had made some changes recently
And if this is part of it, great job.
