My mother was recently admitted to and treated by DCH for a femur fracture. She received reconstructive surgery and was discharged on 12/20 with a guarantee from DCH's Home Health department that she would arrive home to all of the equipment she needed to recover safely, including a bedside commode and a wheelchair equipped with leg supports. None of this equipment was present, nor was she given contact with any of her doctors or an intake appointment with the Home Health agency until yesterday (12/29). In the meantime, she was referred to the DCH oncology department for treatment for lung cancer she does not have, and was sent a physical therapist (the only contact she had with DCH's physical therapy personnel after her discharge) who was under the impression that she had been given a hip replacement, not reconstructive surgery for a fractured femur. She has not had a nurse since she left the hospital, and thus has not had her hair washed or anyone to properly exercise her leg, despite frequent attempts to get this situation rectified.

This experience has been abominable, and were we not as versed as we are in the medical system and recovery processes, this would have been unspeakably disastrous for her. Were I able to leave zero stars, I would.
