It's great as a bar, iffy as a restaurant. The food is very greasy and commercial. If they were to get an inspiring chef it would be a great plus. Seating is a little tight during the season changes when the deck is closed.

Daiker's is a popular spot between Old Forge and Eagle Bay. A good crowd is always present and live music evenings. I attended with a party of about 10. Service was good and the dinner food was excellent, worth the understandable wait. Our group had deck seating, outdoors, overlooking beautiful 4th lake. Will be a return dinner at Daiker's.

Great Service!! Went to Daikers on a Friday Night with 12 people and only waited 30 minutes for a table! We enjoyed a drink at the bar, and Roberta our waitress was great!! Would have been 5 stars if we didn t have to pay an extra 4% on our tab because we paid with a credit card! It s not the 1960 s there is no way a party of 12 is going to carry that much cash!! This policy needs to change!!

First off, their listed hours of operation are incorrect. They are either not open on Tuesdays (how weird), or permanently closed. We turned on Daikers circle only to have a grumpy old man scream at us that they are closed and to slow down (only doing 20 MPH on a road with no posted speed limit sign - trying to find restaurant). Will NEVER go back as I don't want to be shot by some crazy local curmudgeon, and owners can't be bothered to post actual hours, so they obviously don't care to make new business.

I used to love this place and still do like it, but some menu options have changed which is why I took away a star. My favorite thing I would always get is the south west chicken wrap. I don't like some of the ingredients such as onions and I used to be able to have them keep those out. They switched over to some pre-packaged filling and now I never get that wrap any more because I can't customize it. Also the wait is usually long here, but I guess that just means it's a popular place.

Absolutely TERRIBLE service. Don't have the patience to even put it into words, for a restaurant that has a location by the water in the Adirondacks.. you would think they would hire workers that didn't hate their lives.

The food was great. The view is even better from the deck!
Update: I have made this place a go to. I've been back to Old Forge twice since the original post, and it's a must that I stop by Daikers. The view, the food, the people, the place. I'm hoping to make it out when the sleds are there this winter!

Service was slow, and the waitstaff seemed unorganized. The restroom was trashed. Our waitress seemed unable to multitask and handle multile tables as she passed through. It took the staff almost 5-10 minutes to clear tables off after people had left. We paid in cash to avoid the credit card surcharge.

It took 10 minutes after being seated for our order to be taken
It took 12 minutes after our order was placed to get out drinks
10 minutes after our drinks arrived, our meal and appetizer came out together. We ordered two steak subs (just cheese and steak) and motz sticks. The cheese in the steak sub was cold and really skimpy on steak. Our local pizzeria would decimate them.
20 minutes after our meal had arrived at the table, we had no check up by our waitress ( and our drinks were almost gone).
35 minutes after our food arrived, our waitress asked if we wanted our check (we were done eating for 15 minutes by this time and even had our baskets stacked and at the side of the table).

This is not the Daiker's of the past that we use to enjoy going to.

If I could leave no stars I would. I've been here several times and its always been great. I always buy a hoody or shrit everytime I visit because I really enjoyed the place. Tonight was a different story. I understand with Covid there's limited seating etc. I got there at 6 to eat dinner and the place was pretty dead. The hostess went to seat us at a dinner table in the game room, we asked to sit in a booth with several open and were rudely told no. Thats for bigger parties (a booth). Mind you the table we were being seated at sat 4 people also. We were treated like nobodies. The other people sitting in the game room had kids running around etc. We were there for a date night, not to hang out with other peoples children. We'll never go back. Thanks for the good times Daikers. If you're looking for good food and good service in Old Forge check out The Mill or Billy's!

Don't come here. I continue to make the mistake thinking times have changed and improvements have been made. I've eaten at Daikers 5 times in the last 12 months. 4/5 times the service has been beyond bad. Be prepared to wait 2 hours for dinner service- even in April and May. You will hear the same excuses like the chef is new or a server called in, every time. My final meal here was last weekend. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated (the restaurant was half empty) we waited an additional 16 minutes once we sat down to get our drinks (water). I went to the bar myself during this time. Appetizer was plated 42 minutes after that and our meals came out 33 minutes after that. Midway through our meal the server comes and reaches over us eating and grabs the shaker cheese stating we didn't need it. I had literally just used it 30 seconds ago. She continued to just take it without asking us. Do yourself a favor, go to great pines, screaming eagle or slickers.

Cool and easy going bar and restaurant the beautiful lakes of the Adirondacks..food was delicious . Can't mess up a buffalo chicken wrap. I also had buffalo flavored style perogies which were a wonderful added treat. Definitely a fixture for great live music and food.

Didn t even make it to the table. When we walked up to the host station and he was on his cellphone; seemed uninterested in greeting or seating us. We asked to sit inside, it had been raining intermittently all day and it was windy and cold. The host said no because it was raining at that time. The host and hostess then went back and forth as to where to seat us, meanwhile the wind kicked up and it was freezing (we had two little kids with us), we asked again about inside seating (which had several diners eating at tables, plus people at the bar) the host continued to say no, went back to taking with the hostess. It was at that point that we walked out.

Nice country atmosphere, ate on the deck overlooking the lake, very nice. Soup was good, chicken quesadilla ok. Service a little slow but they were the only place open in the area that night. Has a pool table, shuffleboard, darts, old school video games.

This is a repeat visit to this restaurant, the first time we went we got bad service, but wanted to give them a second chance; today was even worse. While we understand that a restaurant in the park can get busy in peak season and that may affect service quality; this was not the case.
When we arrived at the restaurant at 3 on a Sunday; we were happy to see live music and it went South from there. We spoke with the hostess about sitting inside and were told that was not allowed today. We were then told it would be a 45 minute wait. We went in to get drinks and a very angry bar tender took our order over a dirty, sticky bar. We then sat to wait.
While waiting for our table we were treated to watching the wait staff drink beer and eat chicken wings, while empty tables on the deck went uncleared. The manager rather than opening tables, getting wait staff to clear tables or asking finished customers to move to the bar, chose to drink beer and stand at the register. While we watched the empty tables sit unused, waiters sit and drink and the bartender continue to struggle we made the choice to leave. After a struggle to get cashed out from our bar drinks, we left and went to Tony Harper's where we were sat right away by a friendly hostess and enjoyed fantastic service and food.

Amazing place, friendly service and great food. The waitress were great and extremely kind. They even brought out little samples of the sauce they use for the dish my wife ordered. Just so she could make sure the sauce wasn't too spicy. Overall great experice and also a great location. They give the option to dine outside on the patio overlooking a decent sized body of water. Beautiful. Would recommend to anyone and everyone in the area.
