Great customer service! Great GGX classes. The instructors go out of their way to make you feel welcome and part of the team. They know the regulars and beginners and take the time to go over things with the beginners. They take the time to teach all levels and leave you feeling included and like you worked hard. Very encouraging. I wouldn't go to any other gym.
The equipment is old, and there is no available clean water. Sometimes the machines are fixed quickly , but other times a cable machine could be out of order as much as a week or more. I don't understand how they don't offer a month to month option as far as billing options. I travel the country often and other Golds gyms offer $24.99 monthly rates which includes gym amenities. Here in Harlingen everything comes with an extra charge.
The renovations added zero value to the place. Disappointed.
Facility and staff are great. Don't like their membership policy. They increased my membership after my contract expired. Now I have to sign up for another two year contract If I want the same price I had.
Loved it there It was very clean and never had the smell of BO as other gyms. Equipment and staff were wonderful. I loved the classes they have especially the Zumba with Homer... by far the best instructor you have there HUGE props to him and if you pay him he definitely needs a raise... too bad it just wasn't affordable for me. I am a single parent with a mortgage and a car pymnt. Wish I could go back but until I can pay off what i was charged in cancellation fees I will go back until then I have to remain a fat and out of shape customer lol. but rest assured I will return I can't see myself in any other gym.
Stag is friendly gym is small and well organized never overly crowded
No mask worn! A lady in the spinning area was w/o a mask and when I spoke to them about it they mentioned they allow her to workout without a mask when no one is in the room... it s a closed room with a fan for ventilation... masks should be worn and enforced at gyms AT ALL TIMES!
Great place the staff are great at trying to recruit you but after they got you they for get your there. they don't have a staff member there to give you a protein shake after 9pm even when the store closed at 11pm. Some of the equipment is broken to also instead of getting charged 39 a month it should be 15 instead.
I ve been a Golds member for about 5 years. My job requires me to travel weekly which is why I chose Golds. Today I tried checking in at the Harlingen Tx location and was told I couldn t workout unless I purchased a $10 pass. What kind of customer service is this? The gym was practically empty and I was being denied a workout! This is no way to treat customers. I could have been given a free pass, but no...DENIED. Unbelievable.

Moved to town. Signed up for the free 7 day pass online. Received a text about seeing the gym. Showed up the next morning and said I signed up for the pass. They told me I d have to buy a guest pass. $16 a day or $35 for seven days. Never offered to tour me around or look at a membership . I bought the week pass in the moment as I ve been a Golds fan. I responded to the text saying was disappointed in the misleading advertising. They assured me I should have gotten my free trial. Said they d follow up with the club and get back to me. That was three days ago. No word from anyone. I won t be signing up at Golds anywhere after this. The gym itself is well equipped and not overly busy. Seems nice. Just won t be goin there!!
No travel pass allowed...to keep the gym to a lower capacity. Makes sense, and I understand. Major dissapointment comes when the attendant mentioned, you could pay a 1 day pass and come in. No sense... long time members shouldn't have to deal with this.
Always come here when visiting from San Antonio. This time was told no travel pass due to COVID but said I could pay $10 to workout. I told him no thank you and proceeded to leave. He then tells me to drive to McAllen and they will honor my service. Really? That is not how you treat long term Golds Gym customers. You should always treat visiting guest with a smile as it may bring you more business in the future. Are they more concerned about safety or money? Bad customer service and business practices. I am disappointed since I really liked this gym layout.
I have been to golds gyms between Tulsa ok broken arrow ok bentonville ark and many other states now I have recently seen coporass cove tx killeen tx and now harlingen tx not many people know I have trained with some world body builders but this gym in harlingen is small its a tier 2 gym what you see is what you get and the equipment does not have to look like it's a 5000 dollar peice of equipment just clean trust me people can find good and bad any where bad but for those Opportunistic people will be just happy
Women's work room is very hot! Was told that unit in that room is not working and has not been repaired! That is not acceptable!
Great gym. Great environment to workout. Friendly staff. Had one of the best experiences with trainer April Jo! She really took the time to help me reach my goal and was very knowledge. She motivated me to keep going. Huge thank you April Jo! Highly recommend her!
Got a free membership through Cigna Health Springs and it is I haven't had to pay anything I enjoy the gym it's clean enjoy the people that run it and they let me come and go.
Always enjoy going to Golds Gym in Harlingen, TX.. Staff is very friendly, helpful, kind and very courteous.
I'm going to be in the area for a while and wanted to use a guest pass to see how the gym was first. I signed up, got the email confirmation and went to the gym with the email. Once they realized I was out of town, was turned away for being out of town and told during the signup they ask for your address, well they don't, only a zipcode. During further discussion, asked what the day rate was, and also was there any type of military discounts for it and was told the day rate and no, I'm sorry we don't offer any military discounts, which is what it is.
Usually I don't write reviews, but the 3 day pass is VERY MISLEADING. If you only want locals to sign up for the pass, then ensure that's specified for the 3 day pass.
I called Golds Gym months ago about cancelling my membership. When I tried to go in and cancel someone was always busy or not available to cancel. Now during COVID, I refuse to go in and they said to email the manager about cancelling. It did it that day and have not yet received a confirmation that my membership has been cancelled. I've also been charged and was charged double this past month.
Was in town for a business trip. Was able to use my goods membership as a guest. Little smaller than what I was used to but it wasn t busy at all. was able to workout twice with no issues.
I mean gym is clean and better machines but they're not having those free passes. So we got a membership but no free buddy and I had to pay $10 just to work out for the day . If I could afford two memberships a month than I'm down but not rn in this pandemic
Went to transfer my gym membership from Brownsville to Harlingen the girl told me that I had to cancel my one from Brownsville first then come to find out today they don't even accept my insurance typical
Typical Golds gym, which as a former pro athlete, Im not a fan... ALWAYS BUSY, Limited equipment, random dudes in speedos and others who occupy equipment for 30 minutes to play on their phones, and staff wont do anything about it... Manager is also constantly on his phone, staff blows off questions like you're an idiot for asking, and then they want 40 bucks a month with 100 down and an annual fee of 39.99.... You're better off going to one of the free parks in the area... all in all, it was the behavior of staff overall atmosphere that I was not impressed with.

I needed a day pass because I travel for work. I called in once for a price and a second time to ask if the accept cash. The rep told me a mask was required which is fine. I arrived and they told me I needed long gloves and a small towel in order to enter the gym. I asked if they had any towels I could use, they said no and offered to sell me one for $10 as my only option. What a joke

Has a lot of machines, running stations, and free weights. There are classes, including spin classes, racquetball, mini pool, a women's-only area.
