Curran Plumbing Review

They lied to us. Told my husband it would be an 80 dollar call out fee to diagnose an issue with one hot plate on our stove. Also told the 80 dollars would be taken off the cost of repairs if we went ahead with them. Service man got there, checked the wiring behind the stove, told my husband the 80 dollars was just to check the wiring. diagnosing the hot plate would be 300. Repairs would be additional. Husband contacted the manager who did the quote. He dismissed it as a " misunderstanding" ( by my husband) . So is this what we are calling bald faced lies now?

Very impressed with this plumbing service. From initial contact to job completion they are really professional and efficient. Have used them several times and recommended them to family who have also used them. Polite, knowledgeable employees too.

Grace arrived on time, which was positive. However, both when I booked and when Grace arrived I kept getting asked what I expected to pay (for the installation of a tap 30 metres from my house). I had no idea and so refused to say. Grace then quoted $5,500. I figured I would rather use a watering can than pay that. I declined.

A different plumber from a different company later did the job for $800.

I would exercise caution when dealing with Curran - I felt they were trying to take advantage of my lack of knowledge and am relieved I didn t go with them.

From the moment Alys answered my initial call, my experience with Curran Plumbing was a 5-Star one, as she promised.

Thanks to Grace, the fetid odour from a floor drain was almost instantly eliminated. The hot water options she prepared for me were clear and logical, which helped me to ask more questions, which then helped me to make the best informed decision.

Sam and Jake, who came the next day to install the new, super efficient and eco-friendly Rinnai, were also highly skilled technicians with excellent work ethic. Sam kept me informed of the progress, walked me through the new system and answered all my questions extensively.

When Alys called me later to follow up, I only could convey my appreciation for their impeccable work that solved all my plumbing nightmares just within two days. The new hot water system is performing as promised and the air is odourless throughout the house, as promised.

The quality of work, punctuality, efficiency, tidiness, courtesy and communication were all superb every single member of Curran Plumbing demonstrated exemplary professionalism.

This is the third time I have used Curran Plumbing. This organisation is extremely professional from the administration staff who you speak to initially, through to the plumbers that come and complete the work. The pricing structure is communicated clearly and is good value for the quality of the work that is completed. Joshua had excellent communication skills, clearly outlined all aspects of the job and completed an excellent finish on the plumbing issue we had. Much appreciated again and will use Curran Plumbing if further needs arise.

We had no hot water pressure on a public holiday, Shannon from Curran plumbing came out same day unlike other plumbers who didn't even have the decency to answer the phone. When he arrived he gave us an idea of pricing straight away before starting any work and was very informative. He fixed the job temporarily so that we could have a hot shower on that cold winters day until they could get the part that was needed. The next morning first thing Sam came out with the new part and fitted it, he then showed us the work he had completed. We were very impressed with the professional job and how he had cleaned up the area to be better than it was previous to any work commencing. After the work was completed the after work service from Alys was very professional and helpful, she was absolutely Awesome with her manner on the phone and her helpful advice of Curran's service partnership program, We would definitely be recommending Curran plumbing to all our friends and they will be our first phone call if we ever need plumbing in the future.

Grace & Sid were very professional - they fixed the immediate problem and explained in clear terms what the on-going issues would be, providing me with quotes for all available options. They even contacted the Water Board for me, as there was a problem coming from the mains which was the Board's responsibility. Would highly recommend.

They were able to attend my property on the same day that I called them to give me a quote, arrived promptly every morning and were friendly and professional throughout. They did a great job, and when one of the parts that they'd installed turned out to be faulty (through no fault of Currans) they arranged a warranty replacement and came back to fit the new part.

A huge thank you to the team at Curran Plumbing for assistance with a complex blocked storm water drain this past week during and ahead of the significant storms in NSW. The initial work undertaken by Jack saved us from having our garage and possibly house flooded and then follow up work by Sam and Jack identified the problem with a 5-6 feet dig and repaired the blocked drain. Extremely happy with the work performed as well as the courteous service and clean up after. Thanks also to Alys in the office for her assistance in finalising all the details.

Fast and efficient and working right the first time. Price was a bit of a surprise but worth it in the end.

I will never use or suggest Currans to any person l know. I believe your company chargers to much money for it products and Labor. When l asked you for an itemized invoice you declined and stated to bad for me l signed the contract and therefore l must pay the $9000 for 2 x hot water systems, removal of old ones and pipe work
You stated many lies over the phone, all l asked for was a break down of cost and it was very suss to me that you would not do that. Later l rang around to other services and found you charge near $4000 over the price for your products and labor why? is it gold class. A mistake l will never make again l reassure you. You do not work in the best interest of average people which l unfortunately found out to late. Hopefully this comment will help someone else save the money to don't have to spend.

Their quote was very high to start with but significantly reduced once this was pointed out. Some of their staff remind me of car salesmen, yet others were some of the most courteous ones I've spoken with (thanks, Sid & Ashley). Our hot water system was replaced, as promised, and our storm water pipes were relaid, also as promised. Both are working fine. We've just spent two days fixing up the front lawn, though, which was left in a tremendous mess, far worse than I had expected.

All up, a mixed bag, tending towards safisfied.

I was extremely pleased with the service and results I received from Curran Plumbing recently. I had them come out because I couldn't figure out what was making my kitchen sink gurgle. I am handy enough that I had removed the s trap and tried to clean out the pipes with my high pressure cleaner, but to no avail. The initial visit by Troy couldn't identify the problem, we were both scratching our heads, but a second visit with a camera identified collapsed clay pipes which were infested with roots and at least 50 years old. The guys explained all the options available to me, ranging from doing nothing, to a full reline of my sewer pipes, over 20 metres worth. They showed me the vision from their inspection camera so I knew exactly what was involved. As my sewer line runs through an area of my yard where digging would have been difficult, not to mention expensive, I decided to go with the re-line option. It was expensive too, but I feel it is money well spent as I now have a 50 year guarantee on the pipes. And more importantly there was no disruption to my yard apart from two fairly small holes where they inserted the equipment and the job was done in two days. The girls in the office, Steph, Alys and Rosie were all delightful to deal with, and their phone calls to advise me when the guys would be turning up to do the work were very helpful. Sid, Toby (both of them) Josh, Billy, Callum, and everyone else who attended my job were very friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable . I would certainly recommend Curran Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable, honest, quick and good plumbers. It's great to see a local business providing such great service!

Excellent communicators that really know their stuff. This is the second time we have used Curran's and have been very pleased with how friendly all we dealt with are and how quickly and expertly they responded to our needs.

The plumber explained everything, was efficient, fixed the two problems, even was conscious of not leaving a mess (every tradie does less a little mess, especially shoe marks everywhere) but was VERY expensive. Maybe all plumber charge heaps but one hour of work and $700 plus GST later, seems expensive to me, even lawyers don't charge that much, maybe I should have bargained, feel ripped off

I had john and his apprentice from curran plumbing come out to my house and replace my hotwater tank that was ancient and leaking! They were really good at their job, they took care of my garden that was next to the system and were patient with me when i asked how the new one works. I have an investment property house down the coast. The tenants reported blocked drains. I called Curran Plumbing at Albion Park and was greeted by a lovely lady Stephanie in the office. She arranged a time with the realestate and tenants so a plumber could call out that same day I called. As I live in Sydney, the plumber Toby called me and kept me updated throughout the whole process. Everything was organised with the tenants and the girls in the office. He unblocked and checked all the drains. OMG I was so excited, as it is so hard to find a decent plumber who could help me out so fast, and have such a great attitude. I had a partial blockage in my kitchen sink, rang Curren Plumbing, they were here the next day to assess the problem, it was pointed out to me that my drainage pipes had dropped over the years and cracked, Josh and his team soon had new pipes to my sink and dishwasher replumbed right to the outside sump, removed and replaced the pavers to this sump. Removed all old pipping from the site leaving it clean and tidy, all now works as it should many thanks to Alys & Josh.

All I can say is - get another quote. High pressure selling for services you haven't asked for, incredibly expensive - $1600 for 4 hrs work by a very inexperienced plumber who damaged my home's cladding. Yes it's been repaired to a reasonably satisfactory degree after two attempts. No one from Curran has ever bothered to initiate contact with me to check whether I'm satisfied. Well I'M NOT. Not with the cost, the workmanship nor the attitude. My experience tells me it's a money making company with little care for the customer. Think twice.
ADDENDUM : I must say now, in all fairness, that I have been amazed by Sid Curran's response to my review. The following morning I received a delightful phone call from Sid, the company's manager, who has since done everything in his power to make my experience a much happier one. His customer care and service had been outstanding and I am truly grateful. My concerns were his only priority and he has addressed every one of them with courtesy and professionalism. For customer service in my second experience with Curran Plumbing, I would happily give 5 stars. Thank you.

I would recommend using Curran Plumbing as I found John, Jack and Shannon to be very helpful and pleasant young men.

John came out and looked at the job and a quoted for the work to be done. The pipe that came above the ground where there was a lever to switch between septic trenches had been driven over by a truck and was broken. He explained what needed to be done and suggested a cement surround be put around the job to stop breakage of the pipe happening again. He came out on the morning the of the job but had to leave to go to another site. He explained the circumstances and what would be happening. Jack and Shannon took over they completed the job. I was very happy with the outcome of the job, it was neat and tidy.

What a joke!!! We will have someone out in the morning they say! He turns up at 4pm and then whinges that the few small jobs I want done are to hard. Tightening a tap = $330??? Plumb in a fridge when it only needs a hole put in the back of the sink = $600 replace a mixer tap = $1000. Are these guys insane!!! I was only going to get them to do the work because I just moved in and don't have the time to do it myself. They are all 15 min jobs. These guys prey on people that can't do handy work themselves. The guy even got argumentative with me when I sad no thanks I will get someone else. Bad service, complete rip off and immoral!!!

First time it was to replace solar hot water and this time to disconnect rain water tank and hook up back to town water. Service was next level. Staff were incredible. We had a a number of things we wanted to fix and change in our house. Jack from Curren Plumbing came out and talked us through all of our options including our personal needs and costs.
Max and Jake were on time on the day of the Service. Everything was explained to us in detail on how things were going to be done. No question was too silly or too small. They were very courteous and respectful to us. They encountered a couple of obstacles when installing our new stove. The problem was fixed on the same day with some very skillful carpentry.

$650 quote to replace a $9 part. This company relies on scamming customers. The positive reviews are by the people that still don't realise they've been scammed. They are very slick and polite so you don't realise it's a scam until you compare prices.
You still will not give a quote for the job I called for. Then it's blame the customer...

Curran plumbing did a very good job at finding and fixing the problem. They cleaned up after all the work was done. Very happy. Just a quick update, we had Sam and Callan out today to finish the job of relining our pipe. But they found that it was to badly damaged. They worked all day and did a great job of fixing it.

Alys cheerful and helpful nature gave me a confident first impression and the communication leading up to the booking was unexpected! Loved the technician profile and booking confirmation, which was e-mailed to me days prior to the booking, so I knew who was turning up and the procedure they would follow. True to their word, Grace (the technician) arrived within the allocated time-frame, but better than that, she phoned ahead of time to confirm her eta! Grace was super friendly, professional and explained my options to me, so I could understand them, with quotes for each job required. I was able to make an easy and informed decision and Grace was able to complete the work then and there with minimal interruption to my day! Grace talked me through the work she had done, even e-mailing me footage from the camera she sent down one of the drains! Upon completion of the work I received a follow-up phone call, making sure I was happy with the service!
