On July 16th while away on vacation our families 12 year old dog ran from her enclosure and was hit by a car. A neighbor and family friend rushed her to Crown Veterinary that night. We were immediately contacted and told our dog was in their care. That night my wife left our vacation and raced to the hospital to see our dog. The following day a doctor Wendy Ross called us to discuss the injury and treatment options. We were told that stabilizing her and initial overnight treatment was $2000 and that we had options regarding further treatment. The 3 options were amputation of her broken leg, installing an internal bone mending plate, or an external brace. The external brace was presented as the safest option and would require a bandage replacement every two weeks. The cost of the 3 options ranged between $6000 and $9000. We specifically asked is this the final price including the stabilizing treatment and were told yes. It would be a final price for the external brace of $7,500.
36 hours later we arrived at the hospital to pick our loved one up. We were then told there is major ligament tears and they had to put a cast on our dogs lower leg, there is a massive open wound packed with gauze that couldn’t be surgically repaired, and would require continued care. We were then issued our final billing of $14,800!!!! Double the price doctor ross presented us with over the phone!
48 hours later we had to return because bandages on the open wound she could not surgically close needed to be replaced. The on call doctor told us we may need to do this every 24 hours. We had them rewrap the wound only to be presented another $300 bill! One that would be reoccurring every 24-48 hours. We were told ongoing care is not part of the surgery cost!

I called doctor wendy Ross and described my entire interactions to this point and how I feel. I described it as bait and switch, not disclosing injuries, not disclosing costs, outright lying to us about the wounds. I felt that as soon as we agreed to treatment the flood gates had opened and it was a predatory business practice.
She got extremely aggressive and raising her voice said “do you expect me to pay for it I didn’t push your dog into the street”.

A human being with no empathy preying on people’s emotions for her own financial gain should not be licensed to practice in this state. I feel as I have no recourse and now have a thousands of dollars in reoccurring expenses that were not disclosed. My dog has two injuries that were never disclosed in addition to a fractured leg that was already going to be a long painful recovery. My family is emotionally distressed and victims of this facility.

I brought my rescue Rottie in for and emergency stomach issue - they did the surgery that night to full recovery. This is my 3rd dog to Crown for either emergency or ortho (joint repair) with nothing but excellent care! I first dealt with Wendy Ross when the clinic first opened and she continues to run a fantastic organization. Keep up the excellent work and care for our furry friends!

I am soo incredibly grateful to Crown for saving my young dogs life!!! Christmas Eve, she suddenly became ill. We suspected that she had gotten into poison in our barn. Our vet took blood, and immediately referred us to Crown for a blood transfusion. My dog was gravely sick, and she was bleeding internally. My family was devastated. She was a shelter dog, we adopted from death row. We love her so much. This hospital was great. They were compassionate and professional. She was admitted overnight, and we were able to bring her home on Christmas Day after intensive treatment. It was the best present ever, and under the emotional circumstances and timing, I expected financial hardship. They had given us potential costs up front, so we knew what to expect. When we looked at the final bill, they were extremely fair, and did not take advantage of the situation. It was a difficult time for our family, and they certainly were wonderful!!!!! God Bless !

We had to take my dog here as an emergency for an eye injury early in the morning on a Sunday. We live about 45 mins away but they were the only vet open we could find. They were very nice and thorough with their explanation. When my dog came out she seemed calm and happy which is reassuring as a pet owner. They advised us to take her back to our regular vet the next day for reexamination, however our regular vet said they didn t have any available appointments so we made the trip back to Crown (they squeezed us in) and again they were very kind and they didn t even charge for the recheck! I wish we lived closer. I would recommend this vet to anyone in the area!

Came here on a Saturday after my dog ate something he shouldn't have, the staff took him right in and had the object out in under 15 minutes. I paid less than I though I would for emegergency service and the staff was extremely polite and caring. They even called a couple days later to see how my dog was doing. A+ service and staff, thanks again.

Incompetent, outrageous pricing, keeps your pet alive just for billable hours. Once your deposit is spent they call for more money. Dr. Ross never returns letter of inquiry about cost. I guess she feels it s above her pay grade!

Been to Oradell, Red Bank, and Fairfield. I prefer going to Crown over any of them. Dr. Panarello is The Best of the Best! All the doctors and staff are awesome, compassionate, professional, and trustworthy.

The veterinarians are very knowledgable and take the time to answer any questions and the staff are very friendly and caring. Have used them for a number of dogs, one that had ear surgeries, one that had seizures, and one that is getting acupuncture. Would highly recommend them.

I have been here on several occasions.. The entire staff, from the second you walk in , are AMAZING, SUPER FRIENDLY AND THEIR LOVE FOR ANIMALS DEFINITELY SHOWS. AS an emergency place, the convenience of 24/7 I think the cost is, fairly reasonable! My thought process is , if you make the decision to own any animal it is our responsibility as a owner to provide the love and care that an animal requires, REGARDLESS! The place is beautiful and I always feel at ease from the moment I step inside Crown Veterinary !

Crown Veterinary Specialists saved our dog Bella. We brought her in with a severe back injury and she could not walk. Dr. Ross performed surgery and with the help of the dedicated staff there and the professionals of the Animal Rehab, Bella is now walking again! You can see her story on the Crown Veterinary Specialists Facebook page. The folks at Crown are angels on Earth for the exquisite care they continue to provide our Bella. Thank you Dr. Ross and staff at Crown! We cannot thank you enough for saving our beautiful little Bella!!

My wife and I are extremely pleased with Dr. Fromzel at Crown Veterinary. She has a wonderful bedside manner with her patients, and truly puts everyone at ease.

We had a scare with our fourteen-year-old Dog, Madison, and we are so thankful that she s home and feeling better.

I highly recommend Dr. Fromzel!

From the second we walked into this very clean and professional building we were treated like family. The woman behind the front desk (sorry to not catch your name!) and techs Emily and Alyssa were fantastic. Special thanks to tech Melissa for being so fantastic with our fur baby and Dr Berger for helping us treat him. The entire clinic was quiet, clean and so so helpful. We will never take Z anywhere else! Thank you to the amazing staff for giving us some peace of mind in a tough time.

Friendly staff, wonderful vet tech and attentive vet! My young male cat kept making unsuccessful trips to the litterbox. Nervous it was a blockage or cystitis, I brought him in. We were seen almost immediately by the triage vet tech, who was loveable and efficient with our cat. There was some wait for the vet to come in, but we were able to stay in our own private waiting room. When Dr. Kevin came in, he was great. Knowledgeable, honest, and answered all the questions we had. Walked us through a few next steps and parted ways. There was a bit of a wait between seeing him and checking out/getting the medicine, but he wore a full, very detailed summary of the visit that included information on cystitis, the medicine, common factors, tips, etc. Everything was personalized, which I'm sure too some time. He also had other patients to see after us, so I'm sure he waited to write the document after seeing them, which I cannot be mad at; our diagnosis wasn't life threatening at this point. Pricing wasn't terrible either. For the emergency vet visit/care and two medicines, each for 7 days each, it was under 200.

Words cannot describe the admiration I have for Dr. Fromzel & Dr. Panarello. You both saved my dogs life, and for that I will forever be grateful. You both restored my faith in veterinarians. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
The compassion Crown Vet has for animals and people goes beyond anything I ve ever experienced before. When I presented my dog to them -who at the time was very ill, they went above and beyond to help and save her, because of the dedication and love for what they do- my dog is still here and getting better everyday. I cannot even begin to describe the emotions I feel knowing I get to have my dog with me still. The emotional rollercoaster of having a sick pet is hard on pet owners, the staff here knows that and is so thorough when speaking to you about the issue- they make sure your mind is at ease

If anyone reads this review in search of a ER vet or specialist- this is the place to go.

After my moms dog had a wonderful experience at the Crown Vet. Hospital, I decided to bring my dog right there in a state of emergency when he collapsed. I called ahead of time and when we pulled in there was a vet tech waiting for us at the door. They took Tucker right away and within 20 minutes the doctor called us into the room to tell us what he thought was wrong. The doctor was an ER doctor named Dr. Przybyiski who was very brilliant, smart, and compassionate. He recommended we narrow everything down even though he was positive to what was wrong with Tucker by running a few tests. After about an hour, Tucker came home with us :) and ever since he has had no issue with the vestibule episodes as we know of. Thank you Dr. Przybyiski and Crown for being so wonderful to my little Tucker and I! This place is amazing and I recommend it to everyone who loves their furry friend and wants them in excellent hands!

Dr. Gabrielle Angelo, the veterinary oncologist, at Crown Veterinary diagnosed our dog with progressive lymphoma. Her compassion and depth of information was a great comfort during many difficult conversations. Only age 6, we hoped for many more years with our dog Heath. She presented several options for treatment and gave us the respect to let us decide what we could afford and what we felt was best. We have just completed a series of chemotherapy for our dog and he is in remission. Dr. Angelo is thorough, knowledgeable, compassionate and available to talk whenever we needed her. In addition, the wonderful technicians at Crown Veterinary were so kind. The technicians cuddled my dog during treatments and let me know he was loved and cared for in my absence since I was not able to go inside due to the pandemic. I truly cannot say enough about this highly professional and lovely team of people!

Have had great experiences here with Dr. Portner and Dr. Ross. Dr. Portner is a diagnostic master and very kind. He has helped us through very difficult circumstances. Dr. Ross is a great surgeon. When my cat needed surgery she kept me updated on his condition and called me back when I had questions.
Yes, they are expensive. But FWIW- when my cat needed that delicate ear surgery I called around NJ to the large surgical practices and Crown was actually the most reasonably priced!
When an emergency arises, or my animal needs tricky surgery I would not hesitate to take my animals to Crown Veterinary Specialists.

Crown is awesome. Our Frenchie girl ingested one grape and had potentially life-threatening reaction. Crown was quick to take aggressive action. They also have visiting hours, so we could see her daily even though she had to stay. Happy to report pup is okay! (P.S. this was not our first visit for an emergency when the vet was closed. The last time also had a positive outcome and experience)

We recently took our dog Chloe there in the middle of the night & the place was amazing. The building is state of the art & spotlessly clean. The entire staff was very friendly & knowledgeable & we left there knowing that Chloe was in great & compassionate hands. Every day she was there we got to speak to the vet & they kept us posted on how she was doing, which was very reassuring for us. Before she checked out the vet actually came out & sat with us & went over her medications & home care & when we left we not only had a printed sheet with all her medications & home care spelled out, but they made us feel comfortable that we could handle her care. I would highly recommend Crown Vets to anyone seeking emergency medical care for their pet.

Dr. Berenstein was great! I took my dog here for an eye emergency and she was extremely patient and thorough in explaining my dog's diagnosis. I left with a written, very detailed summary of what we talked about, which was so so helpful to refer back to. She was even kind enough to call me the next day and check in on how my dog was doing. Highly recommend!

I have been meaning to write a review about Crown Veterinary Specialists and how wonderful, caring and knowledgeable the doctors are at this facility. My experience is with Dr. Ross and Dr. Hamilton as they took care of my beloved Whitney who they treated for a mast cell tumor. Whenever I had questions, the doctors called me back immediately and answered all of my concerns. Unfortunately, Whitneyfought hard, but the cancer took over. They treated him with so much compassion and to this day continue to send notes of how Whitney was still in their thoughts. I highly recommend anyone seeking care for their beloved four legged family member to Crown Veterinary. You will not regret it.

Remarkable, compassionate urgent care!! I cannot find enough positive adjectives to describe this facility. My dog and I were in a bad car accident while driving home to VA. The team at Crown was empathetic and nurturing to both me and my pup. At each step of her treatment, I received a phone call with a careful description of the services to be provided, as well as a heads-up of the cost. We walked/limped away with a clear understanding of what was done and what to expect going forward. I also received a lovely and organized discharge folder with all of the information I needed to refresh my memory once the adrenaline died down, and to pass along to my at-home veterinarian. Unfortunate circumstances made better by warm, talented and caring professionals. THANK YOU!

My dog's are my fur babies, my entire heart. I found out one of my 2 pitty pupps tore her CCL and most likely needed surgery. Talking to a friend about it i was referred to Dr. Gibson, he claimed she was the best. I scheduled a consultation and he wasn't wrong about her. She spent well over an hour sitting on the floor with my pupp and I and went over ALL our options, including non surgical therapy. Which I found to be honorable. She didn't push me right into surgery, and genuinely cared about the well being of the dog. I've had to do a few surgeries on my dog, due to the tear of the CCL, and there is no one else that I would have treat my dog's other than her. Well her and the other doctor's there, because I've seen multiple doctors, and have always been more than pleased and felt safe with all of them. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and welcoming board certified. Ive recommended multiple people to Crown Vet proudly. The honesty, loyalty, availability gives me a peace when it comes to my dogs health, and care. I can't say enough great things about Crown Vet. Thank you Dr. Gibson, and the entire staff who does an amazing job.

Medically my dog was ok but the organization, communication and consideration with both me and my dog were horrible. Long wait times even with an appointment and empty lobby. They told me the surgery would be the next day and they would call me before the surgery. They never called me and it turns out the surgery was the following day. That made my scared pet stay there an extra day. The didnt diagnos her lymes disease even though she had all of the symptoms and the aftercare instructions were very general and left me guessing. Different people told me different things about the proccess. I was very confused about the process. When i tried to explain this to reception they were rude and told me theres nothing they can do. Overall the staff is very inconsiderate and the communcation is horrible. I had no choice but to bring my dog because there is no other surgeon around but would never choose to come here

A quick assessment of Andy's lethergy by Dr Elena with several potential concerns and a plan of care was put into action. Without her diagnosis and quick response our beautiful Labrador would have been in real trouble.
Crown and the staff provided excellent care and seems fully recovered two weeks later.

We had an emergency with our dog Sam. We bought him in around 9 pm. The young woman receptionist was pleasant and concerned about Sam. The vet tech was also very kind and attentive. She patiently waited for us to explain the issues. The vet that came in spoke with us and was very nice and compassionate. They took xrays and the x ray tech was very nice and treated Sam very gently like he was her own dog. Unfortunately we had to have Sam put down 3 days later. Both of his hips were shot. He also spinal issues. Doing the x Ray they found a massive tumor in his abdomen. He was a sweet basset/lab mix who lived until almost 15. He will be missed he was very loved. We will always appreciate how Crown Vet treated us and our Sweet Sam. Thank you

An extraordinary group of Doctors and staff.

An extraordinary group of Doctors and staff.

To all the Crown doctor's, vet techs, front desk. We thank you for your compassion, dedication and genuine love of animals you selflessly give to our family of pets. Your countless hours of care has meant the world to us.

Dr. Hamilton (Oncologist) and his special team of oncolgy technicians gave such personal attention to Artie our sweet cat diagnosed with cancer. We found great comfort knowing he was getting the best possible care and treated with such genuine concern, gentle kindness and dignity.

We felt their joy for Arties progress and their disappointment when he had a bad week.... and undoubtedly we felt their sorrow when Artie decided he was too tired and his journey with us was time to close. We know Artie considered them all his new adopted friends and understood how much they cared for him. Everyone knows an animal can sense the goodness in people. Artie trusted them and so did/do we. Their love and compassion is instantaneously felt.

We were so blessed to have been loved by Artie and are better people having experienced his pure heart. A humble and gentle once in a lifetime soul. Having doctors and staff who understood this and respected our feelings made the journey for us all lighter.

You are all an amazing group of people and talent.

We are eternally grateful to you all!
Bonnie & Chris & Artie

Crown Vet saved my cat's life and nursed him through through a very, very serious illness. They have helped me a number of times with a number of different animals and have always been caring, professional, and highly skilled. Emergency care is not cheap, but their prices are reasonable, and they try their best to work with you on what you can afford. This is a really wonderful operation with really wonderful people. If your animal needs care, you can trust that they will be in good hands at Crown.

The staff were very caring, compassionate, and pleasant, my American staffshire Pit had to have CCL surgery and it was a non stressful surgery from when we dropped her off and picked her up. I have to say a BIG thank you to Dr. Gibson for doing an excellent job on my baby girl, also a Big thank you to the Tech's as well they were very knowledgeable and caring. My Chloe girl felt at ease when going back for her post OP and stitches removal which was wonderful instead of trying to pull her into a place that she remembers as painful, that right there shows the compassionate, caring staff! I would HIGHLY reccomend Crown Veterinarian!!
Sincerely,
Kim Rinehart

We had to take our sweet little cat Maggie to Crown because our vet was closed and she needed medical attention asap. The minute we arrived the front desk called for medical help. They put her in ICU . The staff was professional, courteous and patient. They explained each step of her treatment and called if there were any changes, as they had promised. When the time came and we realized Maggie would not have quality in her remaining time with us, the staff couldn't have been more compassionate or patient. We stayed with Maggie for hours agonizing if we were making the right decision. The doctors patiently answered our questions and told us if we were not comfortable with our decision, to take our time it was important we felt it was the right one. We could go home and think it over.
We knew we did not want her to suffer and there was no cure. I have 2 other cats and would not think twice about bringing them to Crown in an emergency.

Our beloved dog was diagnosed with leukemia and was treated successfully by Dr. Hamilton after we were referred there. We were elated. During the treatment Dr. Hamilton called and emailed keeping us informed of tests results and answered any questions we had. The few times we visited (we don't live locally and were just treating our dog's cancer and seeing our local vet) each and every staff member, tech, or doctor was very compassionate and caring. We very unfortunately just lost our dog to an unrelated (to his cancer) issue that he had been dealing with. I am writing because our dog went into extreme crisis and we had no choice but to bring him to the nearest animal ER with a neurologist where we live. The first place we called would not even give us an appointment to see a neuro for two weeks even though I stressed my pet was in crisis. We finally got him to the second place. The contrast in care and compassion between Crown Vets and these places was very notable. In an extreme crisis and very tough time for our family we were treated rather coldly. Crown vets are the EXACT OPPOSITE and understand what its like to lose a best friend and pet. After they received word we lost our guy they took the time to send a nice handwritten card with a package of flower seeds to plant in remembrance of our pet. Overall a very compassionate place that I would recommend especially if you are dealing with a serious issue with your pet.

I needed emergency care for my dog that was in so much pain he couldn't walk and cried trying to lay down. It amazes me that I couldn't get any help because I have no money and was declined care credit. If a human being is sick they go to the emergency room regardless if they have no money or insurance and are later billed, you however declined and denied to help me in a time of dire need. You call yourselves Vets who helped animals that are family to us all but will only help if there is money involved. I'm a disabled Marine Veteran who lives on limited income and you rejected me even when I wanted and asked for a payment plan. Your suppose to help but refused only because I had no money and for that I am highly offended and disappointed in the actions in which I was treated. I'm going to copy this message and post it on every review possible. By the way my dog is ok now thank you for nothing.

Cody, our chocolate lab, was an emergency patient at Crown, and the doctors and staff saved his life - it was not only a complicated surgery, his recovery was very challenging . After 10 days, Cody returned home, and I'm happy to say he is sleeping at my feet now. I believe, if Crown had not acted in the time they did, he would not be with us today.

We have now taken our cat to Crown, after an overdose of insulin, Lily recovered and again, it was Crown's excellent staff and support that saved Lily.

Dr. Angelo, the oncologist at Crown, and her techs, are absolutely fantastic. They have been informative, supportive and compassionate since my 6 year old cat was diagnosed with lymphoma. It's been a scary, emotional time for me and my boy- they have been patient in answering all of my questions, flexible with seeing him when he hasn't been feeling well and open to finding a treatment plan that works for me and my cat. If you have to go through this with your fur-baby, don't hesitate to take them to Dr. Angelo at Crown. I wouldn't trust anyone else!

I'm grateful for having access to a full service v...

I'm grateful for having access to a full service veterinary specialty facility that offers ER services when needed. I believe they are well staffed with educated doctors. I also believe that the modernization of and availability of medical technology forces owners into an emotional and ethical financial conundrum. We love our pets, but whether or not we have the thousands it may take to keep them alive is a very sensitive and pressing issue. One should not be shamed or pressed to spend money they do not have to spend on keeping an animal alive... the doctors may want to save all lives at all costs, but the owners need to be made to feel comfortable with the decisions they make without any pressure. The care you receive here will rival any human care you may incur ~ and at the same cost.

After receiving effective care, they sent my animal who was in congestive heart failure home without crossing their I's and dotting their T's ~ I was not supplied with the critical meds they prescribed to regulate her condition until I could get to my regular vet. My discharge papers gave specific instructions to five the med, but it was never included in our discharge. Had we not caught it, who knows what the outcome may have been. My point is, they advertise and charge for exceptional care but I really don't feel that's what I got. During covid, we were not allowed in the building. That's fine ~ so they charge me upwards of a 100 per hour to monitor my animal with a tech but they're just too busy to send a video of my animal so that I can personally assess her? Over 20 hours, through the dead of night, no one could shoot me a video? My sense is this: this is a top notch professional veterinary facility that has a strong corporate model driving its decisions for your pet that will ultimately be financially beneficial to them. If you want to keep your beloved pet alive at all costs, they can probably be of great service. If you live with and love your pet with the understanding that it's your promise to keep them well and not suffering, I think this place my aim to sway your simple promise by being overly optimistic about the potential effects of their very costly "medical intervention." Don't be afraid to love your pet to death ~ literally. It's the hardest part about being human and I bet most of us hope someone with sense will help us make hard decisions when the time comes. Peace out ~ I wish you many loving days with your fur or feather babies.

We had to put down our 18 year old cat one week ago. I cannot even tell you how wonderful Brandi and Dr. Miller were. They are cat lovers and gave us all the time we needed with our beloved cat. They loved on him. I was crying because it was so hard to let him go. The bond between us was so strong. They were patient, kind, and extremely understanding. I highly recommend them.

They gave my pet a far more aggressive medication than necessary and my pet died a week later. When we told a separate vet what happened he was in disbelief that this treatment was even considered. Your pet is better off untreated than going here. We only went because it was a weekend and our primary vet was closed.

I would never recommend this vet hospital to anyone. All I received from this place was my dog back dead and a $9000.00 bill of which they held my dog hostage until I paid the last part of the bill which I knew nothing about until after she died their. I noticed other people had similar situations at crown with a dead dog and a large bill for a memory.
