Crested Butte Mountain Resort is a fantastic establishment. I've been here multiple times for ski trips and have been more than pleased every time. The runs are great and the support at the base is wonderful.

Had an amazing 3 days visiting the mountain. The mountain provides a range of runs and since it is harder to get to resort it is less busy. However if you've never skied before it can be an intimidating mountain especially the final run into the base
What can t you like about CB? I can t remember the last time I went and actually stood in line, great local spots to eat and drink right on the mountain, the skiercross course is awesome and the Umbrella bar is hands down the best ski bar ever! They have it all too, steep expert terrain, solid blues, and good greens for the beginners!
Definitely the best ski town in Colorado and beat I've been anywhere else too! Steep terrain is top notch, but definitely needs to be a good snowfall season, otherwise you're left with groomers (slim pickins). I wish i still lived out there!
Awesome Skiing in the winter, Awesome hiking and fishing in the summer. Awesome Town. Excellent ski school, free shuttle to town. Lots to do for kids and adults.
Great skiing! Weather cold a -6, and overcast. Day parking a good walking distance, unless you want to dish out the money in an unorganized lot. Either way you'll have to walk a ways to the first lift, and then progress to the runs you want. Once you have found your runs, great skiing.
Crested Butte is really nice. The snow is Colorado snow and the people are extremely Pleasant. Food in Gunnison is very reasonably priced as is the food on the slope.
We ate at Ryce, Avalanche, Almont, and on the mountain. All the food was tasty.
The Coffeelab has great coffee products and very reasonably priced food including great pizza, kolaches, burritos. Frank and Christie provide great friendly service.
I absolutely loved this place, but I think it needs to stay small. I m looking forward to the upgrades vail has in store and hope to return next year. What an experience! Hands down, the best place in Colorado.
Crested Butte was a winter wonderland! Powder was fresh, accessing lessons the day of was easy. The food up there was great as well as the lodging. We stayed at The Plaza Condominiums and that was literally at the base of slopes. The people were friendly and engaging (no bad vibes as a person of color). I arrived late and all the employees were so helpful on directing me when I was lost. I loved it here! Will go back. I will say coming from denver the commute was long but worth it.
I wasn't impressed as so many others are with this resort. Yes the terrain is much more challenging but I found myself to be bored after 4 hours because there wasn't a whole lot to ski. I normally go to Vail, Keystone, or Breckenridge and the size of those places seems to be way bigger. Nothing bad to say about the resort, only thing I didn't like were the 20 minute long lines, couldn't believe that.
Cool place to visit for a long weekend away. The mountain is smaller, but very diverse. Something for everyone. Has a more local feel than some of the larger, name brand resorts. Lot's of condos right at the base. We stayed at an Air BnB in Gunnison, about 30 minutes away.
I've skied Crested Butte numerous times over 30 years years and it's always a great place to ski. They have a good mix of beginning, intermediate, advanced, and extreme skiing areas. There is plenty of lodging at the base of the mountain, around the mountain, and 3 miles down the road in the town of Crested Butte. The only bad thing is sometimes getting to the area can be tricky due to passing through Monarch Pass.
Love the mountain and the runs. Hate the lift ticket line. I would recommend you buy them online before.
I stood for almost an hour in the line. The ticket office is inside and heated. Which means I stood in my ski clothes and was dripping with sweat by the time got to the counter.
Then I figured out why it was taking so long. They are demanding your name, address, email, Ect. before they will sell you a ticket. Turns a 2 minute transaction into a 15minute one. None of that is their business as far as I am concerned. It took me longer to buy the tickets than it took my son to rent skis.
So amazing. Coming from sea level there wasn't a lot of oxygen so it was fortunate we a 5000 sqft ski in ski out cabin. If you want to treat yourself, they weekly ski leases.
Great skiing mountain. Free ski valet at the base. Staff were very engaged and helpful. Bakery Pub and Avalanche Bar are good go to for drinks and meeting people.
I came here and climbed Mt. Crested Butte. I took the skiing lift and it was fantastic. Friendly people, beautiful environment. Definitely a high recommend from me.
Amazing time - great blend of long groomers, open bowls, bumps and extreme terrain. The ease of access to the back bowls, coupled with the options/lines available make this a great mountain for the advanced skier/rider. Plenty of terrain for the little ones, less experienced or those simply wanting to cruise all day. Nice variety of base village and on-mountain bar/dining options.
Pricey, but damn when the powder is good, it's an incredible time. Only thing I would say is that there's a lot a flat sections, making it a bit hard to snowboard down. However, there are plenty of sections that are not, and even then, it's still a skiers paradise.
Great place to ski and mountain bike in the summer. However kinda bummed they got bought by Vail, now the prices are gonna shoot up. Darn monopolistic Vail.
Had a great experience with zip lining and our guides were awesome! Will return for skiing this winter! Had pizza at local place in town, The Secret Stash, pizza place, awesome!
We had a great time skiing. All of the employees were super friendly. The trails are well groomed and there is a wide variety for everyone. We love that their are all local stores and restaurants.
Beautiful resort, Friendly staff, great room. We reserved a King bed suite and was SPACIOUS. A double pull out couch was in a separate seating area from the bed. The couch was next to the kitchenette, which was sure handy for keeping the price down for the trip! The pool and hot tub were nice and there is a fitness equipment room next to the pool. Would highly recommend as the chair lifts are only a short (5min maybe) walk from the front of the resort.
Great place to ski. It s out of the way so it s less crowded. Excellent blue runs and many double black diamond runs for the adventurous. Friendly locals and a laid back attitude make this a fun place.
The mountain was lovely and well maintained. With the crazy amount of snow, it's amazing how well they manage to groom. We were fortunate to have tons of fresh powder and the lifts all ran really smoothly. The resort itself is beautiful and has awesome heated walkways so there isnt a fear of ice while walking around. Loved the fire pit and the convenience of their bus system as well!
Awesome people. Had an emergency on the mountain with a disabled family member. Couldn't of made it without the wonderful staff and emt. Thanks a ton!!
Beautiful... Some Cafes though don't actually prepare their food. I ordered a burrito for 7$ and it was a cheap prepackaged one like those at 711. So check out Gunnison' s restaurants instead like Firebrand
They need better signs for parking, stores, lift tickets you name it they didn't have very good signage on where to go and which direction to go in. Many workers didn't know where things were and their want a flow of getting tickets to getting gear. The slops where great and the people working that were accommodating. They also need to tell you if you sign up for anything that has a specific time to get there like an hour to 45 minutes early as we missed our class do to lines, and weren't accommodating to that.
We came to Crested Butte for the OuterBike festival and it was amazing. There were tons of great bike companies who brought their best rides to demo down Mt. Crested Butte. The trails were fun from greens to blacks and the views were beautiful. The resort and event staff did a great job running the check-in, lifts, and meals just to name a few. We loved the entire experience and will definitely be coming back next year.
Soooooo worth the extra hours to drive (instead of going to NM). The staff on the mountain were really, really great to my whole family. Lots of fun stories on ride home about mountain staff being cool and helpful and fun. My beach-loving wife actually had a great time!
Once a great place that would share the mountain with the community of Crested Butte. Now destroyed by Vail's greed and their insistence to dominate every decent Resort in the world.
They get more snow than anyone in the state, have more options for terrain parks, on-mountain bars, and expert run options. They're nowhere near as busy as the resorts on the I-70 corridor and you can expect short to no lift lines. One of my top 5 mountains
