I had the opportunity many years ago to work with the folks at Covenant and did work with them as an (OO) Owner Operator-Independent Contractor. If you ask any driver, let alone an OO, most will tell you stories about bumping heads with their Dispatcher and having bad days.
The truth is, we all have bad days; but I have nothing bad to say about the company as a whole. The company always had more than enough freight to keep me busy and got me home when I needed the time off.
The shops sometimes operated on a "skeleton crew", but they always were welcoming and offered a friendly smile as they put my truck on the list for repairs which often times took no longer than a few hours to get to and to top things off, no matter which shop I went to in their network; they ALWAYS had a good; hot cup of coffee on hand for me.

Thank you Covenant for a wonderful experience with you kind, family folks.

It is the Blind Leading the Blind, 95 percent of all those working in Chattanooga are clueless as to what to do to assist the DRIVERS, THIER thought process is NOT to service the driver's or the Customer. They have sold thier liability s, they have fired a Senior Vice president, and they turn off your fuel card when you are ENROUTE to home time. All these sign make me to believe that they are trying to appear profitable, to be merged or for Sale to someone else.

Went to orientation. I was then assigned to a trainer. Did my 100 hours. Went back and passed my road test. Sat in there motel for a week. Went home and got 4 or 5 contacts. One was a trainer and the others lived over 200 miles. Never heard from them found other employment. Had pay coming for down time and got paid and then they blocked my card. Called payroll and was told not answering our phones because of Covin 19. How stupid is that. Would not recommend

Booked a load with Daniel from IA to CA for 2500 and they keep sending me back and forth from line to line. Still no email from him and someone told us that they covered it for 1900. Really? how do you do business like that?

On the way home from orientation
My recruiter told me she ran all my reports (DAC, MVR, etc.) got me all the way (Chattanooga, Greyhound, from Va. Bch, Va.) after 5 days (6am -5pm) inform me "my application wasn't accepted", reasoning a safety incident that happenned before 4 other companies accepted me, (USA Truck, Western Express, Trans Am and Kllm)
To make matters worse they didnt pay me for the 5 days ...The company owned hotel is like a concentration camp... The food is only enough to keep you alive
I gave them 2 stars because they seem to have a Christian based value system, but you never know, some of the worst people hide behind public belief in God

I typically come here when my sister docks her rig , and has a couple of days to herself , non the less this Campos , kind of sorta , Covenant Transport Servise , takes care of its own , and affords many amenities for them as well . Good company ! It makes me wish , I was old enough to drive an 18 wheeler !

I'm going on 4 years at Covenant. I started as an inexperienced driver straight out of CDL school.
There's definitely been some ups and downs. But without a doubt, becoming a truck driver and coming to work for Covenant was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Last year I made nearly $63,000. I'm home on a very regular basis. If there is ever an issue, my fleet (Team 11) is quick to respond to get things sorted out.
My only regret is I didn't start 15 years sooner!

Just left Company today after Orientation Covenant will hire you but don't tell you after Orientation no Trucks available. I was told 48 hours or more. Glad I drove my pick up to Covenant they have no idea who they had as a driver been trucking 12 yrs no accidents no tickets. Very unstructured company. First impression tells a lot of a company. I was ready to go, but Covenant was not. Drivers please don't be influenced by my response however this was my experience at Covenant what a shame. Company needs a better truck Cordinator. Going to loose the best drivers over waiting days for a Truck!!

If you want to work with compassionate people that want to help you make lots of money, this is the company. I really have nothing bad to say about them. I've worked for them for a few years a long time ago and decided I wanted to persue a conventional degree. 15 years later my husband and I are back as OTR Team Drivers. Same great corporate staff that truly cares about their driver's.

I worked here for 7 months. Apparently if you get a non-moving violation you get terminated, but if you do drugs in the truck and drive right after, you get a 2nd chance.

With that being said, staff is friendly, you can make good money here, but you shouldn't be forced to team with a complete stranger.

I have to say this is the worse paying job ever! They force teams on you to run but with no miles to give and you split the miles..I haven t seen a paycheck over 300$ yet. The lowest I recieved was 120$ aweek.. I can t survive off that especially having to provide for my family. I m very disappointed with this company. I highly don t recommend. You will be disappointed

Started orientation last Monday in Dallas..come Thursday they didn't have an automatic truck we requested to the recruiter..i can drive either or but prefer automatic...the orientation person I'll say she said on Wednesday we have plenty of trucks...come to find Thursday they didn't have any automatics was given a choice of road test on manual or get on a bus and get automatic in Chattanooga they get new trucks all the time she stated...so we chose to take a bus the next day and get here on Saturday morning...bus ride was horrific and I know covenant don't have any control over that...but get here on Saturday morning and no one knows anything about nothing....was offered a room at this so called motel....thats something else...and now we have to sit because know one knows....i don't know what to think at this point..

I m writing this review due to the fact that I got laid off due to an employee there didn t like working nights with an openly gay man like myself and falsely accused me of coming on to him when I have a perfectly fine boyfriend at home. HR never showed me evidence of this accusation against me. I would like to see the evidence please. He just didn t like working with me at nights. He also tried to get me to move to day shift away from him that s not ethical. Other than that the truckers are super nice and This is a perfect example of prejudice and discrimination. And lastly, I want to thank Jonathan, Marshall, Billy and Zach for the learning experience.

They heve been the most consistent company I've worked for as an owner operator. All companies have some dislikes but I much to complain about. We've been getting the miles we need here.

Overall, it's been a good experience so far. Just ...

Overall, it's been a good experience so far. Just keep in mind that at the beginning, there are some dues to pay. I don't mean money, either. Three to five days of orientation. The hotel you stay in is a little "rustic." However, it's definitely not horrible. Then you may wait a few more days for a trainer. 180 hours of driving with a trainer goes by pretty quick. Except in my case. My trainer was better than I could ask for. But, his last student wrecked his truck and my co-driver and I were the first students on the truck since it was repaired. We broke down three times. Twice for 4 days or more. That should NOT be a common problem during your training, should you choose to get a job here. After the 180 hours is done, you come back to Chattanooga for one day of evaluation and then four days on "the hill." Those four days include evaluation and additional assistance on backing that you may need. You will be paid for all of this. When you have all of the required steps complete, you get issued a truck, which there is a great team that keeps tge trucks running and in, for the most part, great shape. Most of the fleet is pretty new so it's probably the best truck fleet in the country. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because you have to watch your paycheck to make sure nothing is left out. Which happened to me. Over all though, I wouldn't change anything and I'd recommend Covenant to anyone looking to get in the truck driving business.

Edit: changed from 4 stars to 2 since ive had to endure 2 greyhound rides to get hometime. Have you ever rode in a Greyhound with a 5 hour layover just to go 500 miles home? It's not fun. Gave me and my teamate the oldest truck they could find. It cant get up a hill with a fedex load much less a heavy load.

Been a few more weeks. Overall experience is pretty good now. Got a new, good truck and got to drive it home instead of a bus.

I worked for star transportation which is owned by david parker/ covenant transport.I left due to incompetent staff operations & dispatchers.Turned in my truck & cleaned it out.I signed up for direct deposit into my bank acct.instead of putting my payroll into my bank acct they deposited it on the fuel/ comdata card. When I turned in my truck they put a block on my comdata card so I am not able to access my payroll or money which I worked hard for.I contacted both star & covenant only to get a run around about my money they told me I receive a check in the mail in a couple of weeks. This is right at Christmas time & I am not able to get my money to buy Christmas presents for my family and children. They could have turned it back on just long enough for me to get my money off the card or issue me a comdata check but they refused to do it.They claim to be a faith/ Christian based company yet they do this to employees & our families.I will be lucky to ever see that money & highly diubt I ever will.I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this from them as well. They are stealing employees money and keeping our pay.I have worked in the trucking industry for 25+ yrs & never heard of any company doing this.I would not recommend this company to anyone. They obviously don't care about employees , or our families and to do this right at Christmas time is disgraceful and a shame.I am contacting a attorney and the Dept of Labor about these unlawful acts as it is illegal to withold a employees pay.If you or anyone you know has also experienced this from covenant, star, srt, landair etc...let me know. They are all owned by covenant/ David Parker.Together we can stop this. They are theives and liars please stay away from them!!!

Be aware of this company the recruiter will lie to you to bring you to their orientation.i had such a nightmare experiences in working for this bad company, they made me starving!,I even had to apply for a food stamp from my state so I can eat!!. Dispatchers will talk down to you and threatening you in every bad load they send to you,and they will micromanage you, force dispatches that don't pay decent.i wasn't making any money while I was there.this company doesn't pay you lay over (break down) doesn't pay detention (wait time to load &off load) they say they will in the oreintation to keep you there but all lies .you are just a number they don't appreciate any great work you do for them and you are in the .dispatchers eyes such a trash, filthy, criminal .my advice to any company driver and o/o stay away from this company ,there are a lot of trucking company out there that pays well and treat thier drivers in respect and dignity.farthermore be aware this company participates in the DAC report ,if they fired you with or without reason they will report it on your DAC report and you will have very hard time to find another trucking company fo work for .do not make the same mistake I made.wish you drivers good luck

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.
Go somewhere else. werner is a better option. I have gave Covenant a chance and wasted so much time for nothing. Dont bother with them because you will be disappointed believe me. Wasted 3 weeks in the dirty training center motel. Everyday check with the recruiter and keep telling me still no one to team up wit!!!

I found myself behind one of your trucks at a red light on Hwy 25 in South Carolina. On the back I read It is not a choice. It is a child. I smiled. Then I noticed the name of your company Covenant. My smile grew. At the next red light I was beside your truck and saw your logo. I yelled Amen! Thank you!

How do you all waste so much money bringing one to orientation? I made every attempt to be sure I wouldn t be DQ. Asked all the right questions. Drove 956 miles. Waited a day and a half all to be told oh your recruiter should have contacted you. I had even attempted to call her en route, message and all went unanswered. Complete waste of time, lack of morals, and work ethics. Strongly urge to avoid at all cost. Furthermore, it seems like this whole process was done on purpose, as I wasn t the only DQ. Only pro was they got me 956 miles closer to home! For FREE. Roll on Drivers! Feel bad for all the rookie drivers who were turned away. Not really having experience, then having to get a bus ticket back home!

I would barely give them one star but that's for giving us the opportunity. This company railroaded us as a team. Took us off our dedicated account with our notice and expected us to go OTR. They preach to the drivers about communications, but they are all in the same building and don't communicate with each other. This is a great company to start and get your feet wet in the industry but THAT'S IT! They treat you like you're dumb or slow and play on your intelligence.

They were not honest about pay they promised this .. but after hired on and finished training the pay was going to be that .. on top of the lie about pay the trainer was a jerk and how he was allowed to be a trainer was beyond me so in summary to any future drivers good luck even if pay is in writing it wont matter.

Truck 17055, as of 01/20/19 around 1030 central time, this African American driver trainer is in a Wal-Mart store in Boonville, MO, after he finished shopping, he left trash in the shopping cart and just left the shopping cart right near his truck and didn't return it to the shopping cart stall, very lazy and nasty.

Loved working here. I was here for a while back in the late 90nitys early 2000 thousands.
I left because I didn't want to run team.
Had great fleet managers great equipment.
If you broke down they were on top of it.
Great company all the way around. My miles never dropped below 2700.
Miss the company and the people.
I was around and they didn't have a van drivers I would get approval to drive. I helped in anyway I could. I miss Chattanooga too. Very fun place.
I miss you all. If had solos I would be back in the saddle in a heart beat. Thanks Travis Maddox

A bunch of bold faced liars. They'll say anything to get you in their doors because they think you won't have the spine to call them on their BS. I was outright lied to about the orientation pay, signing bonus, teaming policy, and driver pay. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was their dorms are extremely dirty, the second was how much of a bitch the woman working the counter was to me when I asked a simple question, the third is just how poorly maintained the building is; the toilet in my room didn't even work. They herd the drivers around like chattel and speak down to them at every opportunity. I did not complete orientation but I can only imagine just how bad they must treat the poor souls driving for them if this is how badly they treat their prospective employees.

And absolutely garbage place to work for and work with. This company is extremely unsafe very manipulative and downright make the entire Trucking industry look bad. Please do not pick this as your first company if you have a brand new CDL... They will help you lose it!!

You should train your drivers not to switch teams on the shoulder. Then pull into the hwy without yielding to traffic. One of your drivers pulled off from a stop on the shoulder to the travel lanes. Am a trucker too. Had to slam emergency brakes to avoid a bad accident from happening. Teach them to accelerate on the shoulder before merging safely to the lanes.

I wish there was a lower rating than 1 star I could give this company. Covenant Transport is by far the worst company I have ever worked for or done business with. My cousin and I drove as a team for them for less than a year. By the time we quit, Covenant owed us $6,422.00 each. To this day, either of us have seen a penny. Several times we were left at customer parking lots for days at a time waiting for pick ups, deliveries, without compensation or access to food or water and told we could not move the truck. Not to mention all the times we would be down for maintenance at truck stops without compensation or reimbursement for hotel stays. We were almost never reimbursed for tolls. Our dispatcher treated us like garbage. One example (there are many) is the time, I ran out of my medication while I was on the truck. I had told them in advance this was going to happen and requested to go by my home in Ohio. I reminded my dispatcher daily as I was getting closer to running out of my medication. They ran us through Ohio the day I ran out, but told us we absolutely couldn't stop before we got to Pennsylvania or we would be fired. They told us that after we could drop our trailer off in PA, then they would run us home. Instead of keeping their word, they made us wait in the customer's parking lot for a live unload 2 days later, then force dispatched on a load going to New Jersey, then down to Georgia. I could go on for pages but, I won't make this any longer than necessary. I'll just sum up by saying this; This company is run by real scum bags. My advice would be to stay away from them at all costs. Conducting any sort of business with Covenant Transport is a bad idea.

I worked for Southern Refrigerated Transport, it was bought out by Covenant. I loved my job and I was very good at it. When Covenant started integrating our company, they fired most of us for whatever reason they could come up with. They called me to the yard under the guise of putting the new company stickers on my truck. Out of nowhere they fired me. Everything else is he said she said. But I am a vet, and unfortunately I live in my truck and I am very thankful for that!!! No friends good enough to take me in, no family that doesn't have their own enormous problems (not to mention the extra room). I have NOWHERE to go. So covenant just made another homeless vet. The funny thing was, there was no one to talk to. Not one person that had any power to help. The guy that called me barely got through the firing speech. I was polite and respectful, just like I was taught by my mother and the military. So take it as you will.... but it speaks volumes that during times like these and the super "Christian" leader of Covenant Transport has no problem dropping a vet off in the woods without even a tent to sleep in. Good luck to the rest of you.... but you should pay attention to reviews for we are the true image of a company.

I hate to give this grocery co, a star, this company have the worst Dispatch in the world of trucking they are playing with there recruiting intern like they're video games, also be careful of when they send you a Trip or load some one may already have that load 2or 3 days ago, and the miles you drive to get it you will not be paid for them if there is no PO# attack for it I personally have that experience, also not to mention don't be in an emergency situation where you have to call them they will not answer or take your calls for someone to call a Christian founded company its

If you want to know what a company REALLY thinks of the drivers. Call the breakdown department and sit on hold an hour or 2 listening to some loud distorted flute music straight off of some corporate safety video from the 80's before someone answers.
