Pretty good opera house overall. Kinda hard to compare it to anything else to Ireland, as it's the only one. But well, it's functional and modern. Nice shows too, even if I'd love to see a more, well, opera oriented programme. There's a lot of stand up comedy, pantos and so on, I think it could do with more theatre plays and proper opera. Must be tough to sell though, I do understand the financial reasons...

Up in the rafters for a comedy show. It was great show but the seats were very hard and uncomfortable. Little to no leg room. The catering onsite looked decent however nothing for the gluten free theater goer

Great gig... Paul Brady is still amazing. Seating was excellent. My only crib is that the bar is open during performance and people disturbing other people to get in and out for drink a lot of the time. The bar should not be open in my opinion only before show and at interval. Consider this Cork Opera House!!

A must see for people who are a fan of acting, theatre and performing arts. Its within the city and not too far away from patrick street. Try to catch a local show/ performance if you can. Its always worth the speculation.

a mid-sized venue in Ireland's second city that's got the Jazz Fest and Sounds From A Safe Harbour, two of Ireland's best music festivals. the sound at the Opera House has always been, without any exaggeration, perfect and crystal clear. if there's a God of live music, this would be their church.
oh and yeah as a setting for theatre/comedy/etc it's great too

Shoddy

I never knew I liked opera until I started coming to the Opera House. So far I've seen operas by Rodrigo y Gabriela, Reginald D Hunter, Tori Amos (didn't sing her Cornflake Girl aria - disappointing) and most recently, Foil, Arms and Hogg. I'm a convert to opera and will be attending frequently.
The cafe is good, if you're into organic produce, taste and flavour. Free quinoa for anyone who places their order in song.

Went to see Jason Manford, he was absolutely brilliant we highly recommend you go see him. The opera house was an adequate venue. The seating is staggered so you can see better, the sound quality was good and the staff very helpful. The only problem was they don't take any debit or credit cards in either the coffee shop or sweet shop.

Gigs

Opera House is drab, old fashioned, small poky and very outdated for a fine city like Cork it's actually an embarrassment to the people of Cork. I think this fine Rebel city deserves better than this. Seats in the auditorium are crammed together and no centre isle access for emergencies. People of Cork and surrounds deserve better than this.
Artists that play there are brilliant no reflection on them at all. Cork needs an upgrade and deserves a better auditorium than this outdated Opera House it's not fit for purpose in this year of 2019. The powers that be need to get a grip.

My son celebrated his birthday going to see wizard of oz ..absolutely brilliant show great sound .set ..and actors ..however we sat in the upper circle row c don't book the first 3 seats on row c ..large metal rail obstructing the view to stage we had to look through it or over it and our view was affected and our necks hurt by end of the well worth seeing show .

The family pantomines we've watched here are top notch...also food at interval is good. lovely to see them using compostable lids on their coffee. It may not be cheap but quality live entertainment isn't....especially with amount of people involved in a live production on such a scale!
