Room was nice but evening meal took an hour to arrive and then it wasn't hot, Luke warm. I mentioned it to waiter and he did apologise but just said they're very busy. Not impressed really. Location nice though and pub over road had good hot food the previous night. Rooms were lovely size and parking great, looked like a nice pool too but didn't manage to go in there. Breakfast nice and good choice of grub.

Just stayed one night with my girl to do a little shopping and dodge the journey home.. Just a little break. Yea it's in a great spot to everything.. Just on waterfront with a weatherspoons and a few pubs. Just drop the car and its all near day or night.. The leisure club is well stocked gym. Nice little pool and jacuzzi.. Quite surprised. Rooms good size good facilities tea and coffee.. Good shower hood TV. Good bed and clean.. The rooms are a little dated very 1980s but acceptable.. Overall pretty good. But extremely convenient.. We had a deal on Sunday but at full price a bit pricey... But overall enjoyed it really.. Not bad at all really.

My husband and I stayed last night. It was one of the loveliest hotels we've stayed at and can not fault a thing. The staff were all lovely and friendly, the food was amazing and the room was fab! Thank you for making our stay most enjoyable and relaxing. Will most definitely be back x

The room was spotless and had what we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. The curtains kept the room lovely and dark in the morning.
Great view of the marina and waterfront.
Excellent location for canal walks or a trip into Merry Hill for the shops.

Staff very friendly. On arrival and through our weekend stay Phyllis the receptionist was very helpful. Room was good size. Bed small and not comfy. Carpet worn out in places. Shower great. Room clean. Outside on the patio finished lunches left on tables and I witnessed a family if rats having the food dropped on the floor. Advised reception and the patio area was cleated if plates for rest if stay. Would use hotel again as prices were reasonable but would not eat here.

Not very good on parking. Charged for parking whilst watching my son going to his prom. Was blocked in by horse and carriages and limousines. Was charged for the privilege of watching my son going to the prom, using their facilities even though I had paid for him to go by purchasing a ticket through the school. This is the forth time of watching my children going to the prom. First time of being hit by a parking fine. Won't be making the mistake of using the hotel or the parking facilities again.

Very nice, comfortable, friendly staff, always there to help in case you need... The maids though it's another question... They've taken away the half empty bottles of shampoo/body wash and didn't replace them back... Happened twice in 5 nights and other little things...

Updated August 2019. Clean, spacious rooms and great bath. Dig the USB inputs on the lamps for charging. Also best idea even to not only have coffee and tea in the room but to give you a take out cup to use if you need to take your coffee on the go.

Also Emily on the front desk was super helpful and welcoming.

Breakfast great, super tasty. Full English or continental. Fresh breakfast makes a big difference.

Be prepared for noise late night sometimes if your at the front of the hotel as this is used for weddings. Ear plugs helped. People shouting loudly at times.

The only downside this time was the was a building extractor more or less outside our room on the floor which was a bit noisy.

I'd recommend this hotel.

I'm very disappointed in this hotel. It did fit my little wheelchair, but that and the pleasant staff are the only reason I'm happy with it. The Salsa wheelchair wouldn't have fitted if I'd been travelling with that. I used to book my boss here in the mid '90s, and when I went with my mother to a weekend conference this weekend I thought it would be nicer than our usual rather plain Inns and other lodges that we stop at for conferences. No such luck. The Copthorne was very mediocre and overpriced. I've stayed at plenty of hotels that are a lot nicer for a lot less money. My bedside lamp needed its bulb replacing, as we discovered to our annoyance late the first night. The bath was chipped, the shower sprayed the floor and scalded my mother. The toilet was fine, only the toilet roll holder is behind one, rather hard to reach with limited mobility, and there is no mobility assist handrail near it - though in our room, I could get up by holding the basin counter. Their water bill must be sky high if that loo's flush size was typical of all the rooms. There wasn't enough coffee for us both. The layout of the room was, ummm, inconvenient for me. There was an armchair (?!) in the way of everything. There were no USB points. The plugs were at the other end of the room from the bedside tables - I'm sure it was healthy for me to sleep with my phone out of reach while it charged, but it was irritating! The windows were permanently shut. Our view, unlike the plush landscape I'd pictured, was a rooftop. The beds were like sleeping on marshmallows, they was so soft. There were no top sheets on the beds, just duvets, so we could choose between sweltering and freezing. All we really wanted was a good night's sleep at the end of each day, all the massages and swimming pools etc. included in the price didn't interest us. Maybe their target market is hen parties, maybe they're past their heydey, idk, but I wasn't impressed.

You will find this place has everything you could possibly need for a quiet, relaxing, comfortable stay. It s a short walk from the merry hill hill shopping centre with its food court or you can eat on-site. We ate at a pub just round the corner which had lovely food but had stopped serving meals and desserts by 5:45 on a Sunday. We both said we would stay here again.

Lunch - not again. Kitchen couldn't even be bothered to warm up pitta slices (with hummus) or nachos (without melted cheese and salsa from a bottle). Soggy fish cakes. If this is how the kitchen prepares easy food, I wouldn't trust it for a main meal.

Very nice hotel, well situated next to Merry Hill shopping center. Good travel links to the local area. Quite far from nearby train stations into Birmingham, but plenty of buses. Nice big bathroom and large rooms. The breakfast had a good selection.

Came for a family function and the bar staff Rhys had no form of customer service. Whilst the other little girl was serving and doing way more than her share the poor girl
Rhys was unbothered and we didnt bother go bar again after he served around us then left and went and served people that came after us. We came to celebrate and spend money at the bar and we couldn't do that

Nice hotel, staff helpful, but the hotel has a few little faults. No air con and tv's / tv out dated for the standard of hotel. Brilliant for a weekend get away. With a easy going pool, gym etc. Merryhill shopping a few minutes walk.

The hotel was ok. It didn't feel like a 4star. The function room was nice but the guest rooms needed decorating. Staff were generally nice apart from one at breakfast who didn't want to provide us with clean plates

Had our work do there last night, meal was expensive and wasn't more then average.
Venue was very small and there was no dance floor with pretty bad music, bar staff were rude to me and I'm going to make a complaint to them about their service as they ruined my evening!

Didn't really have a lot of choice in there warm beer section either, nothing that I liked. Bottles were the same price as a pint on tap!?!

Thanks for a crappy evening and we won't see you next year or ever again!
