Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill Review

Great staff. Lovely rooms. Amazing breakfast! Had an enjoyable stay!

Very nice hotel but a bit dated decor. Needs a refreshing.

Visited Faradays restaurant for the 1st time today for a lunchtime meal. Staff were lovely but I can't say the same for the food , it was very overpriced and poor quality for a 4 star hotel.

I was only there for a conference so limited involvement, but I will say the place is immaculate and the staff I interacted with were utterly professional and gave a superb impression.

Nice spacious and clean rooms with comfortable beds. Good food too. Sometimes you can book this hotel for around the same as Travel Lodge. It's a no-brainer.

Just been to meal and mowtown evening. Most enjoyable. And food was good.

good bed and breakfast, dirty room, sticky walls, it is not 4 star hotel.

Phyllis on reception made you feel so welcome on arrival and was so helpful and was so pleasant nice to see someone with such a happy smile made me feel comfortable

The Copthorne is very well located if, like me, you have a business meeting in the offices across the canal.

The first room I was given was a double bed with an accompanying single bed. It was clean and the double bed was extremely comfortable but unfortunately I had to request to move room shortly after as the window, that had been left open, would not shut properly as there was a draught and noise. Another bugbear of mine with this room with this room was the moldy bath seals which you would have hoped to have been picked up when the room was cleaned. The member of staff on reception who dealt with this was very helpful having promptly looked at the window and then agreed to move me.

I was moved to another, identical room on the second floor and all was well with this so that was fine.

Both hotel rooms were tastefully decorated and it was the same with the entrance lobby; it gave the impression of good quality.

Disappointly, there was no free WiFi available to guests.

The hotel's restaurant was average: service was very friendly but slow, a side item missing from my order and the mixed grill buffet which initially sounded very promising, did not look very appealing in the flesh. Food was good when it arrived and breakfast was pleasant.

Would return if I had business in the same place due to its convenient location but would give it a second thought if there was another option to try.

A hotel with a great location, close to the largest shopping center. Not far (10km) to the industrial zone. An outdoor garden with a view of the beautiful canal. Large, comfortable rooms. Breakfasts are typical English, meals are made with great care, very tasty. Service nice and helpful. Subtracts one star for the lack of air conditioning and ventilation in the room. They could also modernize the rooms. And remember about the adapter to the TYP-G socket.

Nice hotel but tv turned off after every 3 hours as they set a sleep alarm you can't cancel and it takes 10 mins to allow it to turn back on again. Very annoying if you're in the middle of a movie. I have stayed there for a week in 2 occasions and despite complaints they didn't fix this. If they got that right I would happily give them 5 stars.

Surprised to find the room to be in poor repair, dirty walls missing fittings.
Breakfast was also poor, food was dry and had clearly been out for a while.
It was a week there im glad is over

Staff were excellent, rooms needed some TLC. Shower in room broken.

We had our Christmas party at Copthorne and while the location was easy to find and had adequate parking even with more than one event going on at the same time, I was not blown away by the service. The food was nice but it took quite long to arrive and there was definitely a lack of co-ordination among the staff. We were told the bar was closed because the food was being served only that the starter took another 40 minutes to arrive and in the meantime we did see other people walk in with drinks. All in all the evening was enjoyable in the end.

Great staff, good location, but the menu wasn't up to much. Had a great starter, but the main was very disappointing. Others in my party also had poor mains. But both the servers and the bar staff are top notch.

Great hotel. Friendly staff, good food and bar. Lots of parking space, and great meeting room/business facilities.

The rooms are spacious, with nice work areas and comfortable beds.

Hotel is located in a great spot near the Merry Hill shopping centre. Meeting rooms are of the standard hotel variety, although we never had to wait for coffee and refreshments.

It was my works xmas party, it was better this year than last, everything overall was better ie food, music, timing except was not enough staff to serve at the bar.

Had a full body massage. Absolutely amazing. Nice and relaxing and the girl who did it was lovely and very professional

Booked two rooms, nice view, rooms ok but dated. No wifi connection in one of the rooms we stayed in.
TV remote didn't work, even two brought up by reception didn't work. Had to use one from family member room which seem to work.
Bad night sleep due to people in next room arguing, shouting, banging doors and playing loud music till early hours.
Breakfast scrambled egg cold,bacon needed bit more cooking beans cold.didnt like sausages(not everyone likes sage tasting sausages).

Amazing spa at quiet times.
This is an amazing place to be. The facilities are good. Yes they were brilliant but let's face it most the pool tiles and flooring has been around for 20 years. You can't fault the spa's amazing ambience. The sauna is relatively new and the jacuzzi is usually well maintained. The steam room tends to get a little too hot. Recently the pools become more like a public bath. With tonnes of unsupervised kids and passing trade coming in for free trials. Time it right though and you'll think your in heaven it's so peaceful.

Never stayed in a 4 star so noisy in my life. Literally every night for 5 nights i have been woken up every hour by noisy roudy guests. AVOID. Car park is too small, and told to use a overspill car park - which is located out of the way and walking to it in the pitch black alone as a female is dangerous.

Very pleasant staff. The room was a roomy lovely view the only criticism is the pillows was so thin we both had the same neck problem other than that a nice hotel. The breakfast 1st class.

Ive been staying at this hotel for a number of years with work. but lastnights expericance has got to have been the worst.
first of all i had to go upto the 4th floor and back down 3 times as my room card didnt work. then they finally gave me a different room.

the food for the evening meal was bland and tasteless.

and to top it all off there was a party at the hotel which went on until around 230 AM i phoned reception at 2am and asked when the party was likely to finnish. i was rudely told that they had already told the party to leave and that they were all getting into taxis.

the breakfast was cold and sausages didnt look to be properly cooked.

overall i really dont think i will be in a hurry to stay here again!

The Copthorne Hotel is a over rated over priced excuse for a hotel. I stayed there in2002 and it was a lovley experience. Now it's not even a One star hotel. The room was dirty /smelly the shower didn't work it needs a complete revamp the breakfast was not hot the hot water for drinks was not hot and the staff were like robots. The reception management didn't even ask if we had enjoyed our stay as we checked out. If you pay for a service no mater how much it should be set to a standard and the Copthorne Hotel dose not deliver at all.

Rooms ok carpet was thread bare in places. Food not bad. Nice beer garden.

Very clean, friendly staff and spacious rooms. Expensive bar like most hotels & it shows the football. Breakfast between 6.30-10am so plenty of time to get down.

If I could give a minus I would room was cleanish bathroom dirty bath had hair in and toilet poo stained as for food the breakfast was shocking the bacon was like leather could of soled your shoe Emily on reception was lovely she did try help, to point we got a free drink no it asnt put things rite by far both days we didnt eat due to how poor the food was easter Sunday different staff member on who just basically said I'm the only one who's complained about breakfast when infact there was 4 different people doing the same thing ..... if you want cheap n tacky then this is your place ... under the circumstances of staying had it of been different circumstances I'd of gone home but due to it being visiting a terminal ill family member we had no choice to stay

It's a truly lovely hotel, the rooms are nice and big, bed is comfy and it feels like a quality hotel, would highly recommend.

Nice looking hotel, appears to have had make over recently. Staff have been helpful and friendly. Only one real issue, no water in shower this morning. Arranged new room quickly and efficiently for our second night.

I booked a family room which is located directly above a disco, genius!
It's always a delight to pay for lack of sleep.

Had a nice relaxing time, staff very welcoming and got the day going with a dip in the pool. Well worth the little bit extra for the view over the Waterfront

Great location and facilities, friendly staff will definitely visit again.

Good facilities. Attended a wedding reception here. Car park was a bit busy.
