I've been trying to call seven differant offices regarding our early 2nd tax installment since 10am and it is now 3pm no answers or recorder to leave a message. Mr Berrious are you hiding? I'm calling the US ATTORNEY to investigate you and your offices.

12 to 18 weeks delay to obtain refund after certificate of error issued, which took 7 months. In all why are they not paying interest to us for not refund on time. If we are late with any bill the are very quick to issue late charges, it should be same rule for all, including them. Inefficient money collecting machine.

Save your sanity and dont waste your time by calling. Cook County is smarter than the citizen that it suppose to serve. They simply program a machine to keep you on the phone. I know no one that has been able to get anything done on the phone.

In my situation, even name change form and update form has not resulted in a satisfactory result, Actually the opposite has occurred. Single mistake has now mushroomed to several mistakes.

Accountability, and customer service is non-existence in this entity. I would be ashamed to be working for this tax collection institution. I guess there is no self pride.

The employees at the Cook County Treasures Office were really friendly, I normally hate visiting offices like this because of the lack of interaction but everyone here was willing to help me and apologetic if things were taking longer than expected.

this business has been sending out fake checks of $950.00 and is laundering money. they also have no customer support line so please do not trust these people. they're the trash we need to dispose of.

Can there be worse thing than living in Cook County - perhaps some North Korean municipality?
You can call if you have nothing else to do and you like pressing buttons, otherwise I suggest you don't.
For the amount of taxes we pay I'd expect little more from this county.

Quite a phone system they have for the Cook County Clerk and Treasurer's office. It is a never ending recording instructing you to "press" the number in a series of numbers for the described issue you wish to speak to someone about. You cannot, no matter how many times you circle around pressing every number, asterisk or pound key, ever get a live person on the line. Is our city so broke that it cannot employ live people to answer the phone and assist taxpayers? If there is no personnel available to answer phone calls why not just say that in the very first recorded message and inform callers that they must come to the Clerk's Office to speak with someone? If I could, I would not have even given 1 star but you cannot post your review unless you click on at least 1.

I am leaving 1 star because I don't know if 0 stars is an option. Their on line home page cannot be found to allow me to pay my bloated tax bill. One more thing not working in this this broken down county and state. Keep voting Democratic - you get what you asked for.

Disappointed in how they treated my senior uncle. The accessor office didn't want to help and when trying to talk to someone in the treasure office it kept bouncing to the accessors office. Very frustrating hopefully people will care how they make people feel when they are calling with concerns. I hate to think if my uncle didn't have people to help.

Terrible customer service. I asked a simple question and it was all attitude. When I asked for the bulldog who was barking at me, she simply hung up. I called back and got a man and asked to speak with a supervisor. He merely sniggered and asked me to go and report at 118 N Clark street. Such terrible service.

I talked to them on the phone. Overall, horrible and bad experience.
Half an hour taken just to be connected with a real person.
But what is worse is that teller's really unkind attitudes. I was able to talk to 2 people. One person just hung up before I explain something, (I really wanted to identity who he was, but I gave up just because I didn't want to waste my time with horrible and irritating automated responding machine.), and the other person didn't hang up like previous guy, but almost as unkind as that guy from his phone answering manner.

It's really hard for me to believe that this is happening in America.
Having no sense of professionalism, lack of kindness, just mean & uneducated mind was there.

Crazy website let me submit my payment twice, I thought it did not accept payment so I tried again. That was a mistake! Took my property tax twice, so I go there and fill out the paperwork and was told it would take 8-10 weeks to get my money back! It took 15 min to take the money, but 8-10 to get it back! 4 weeks later I look on the site for an update and it says no refund is due... I call them and the most uncaring person answers and tells me they have the paperwork and that it would be 6 months to get the refund!!! What??? Typical Illinois bureaucrats!

Maria Pappas is the best! I heard her on talk radio explaining how her office could assist in retrieving money owed from the state. She did just that. I had overpaid taxes in 2002 and could not locate the proper bank papers or old check to prove the error.
I wrote a letter to explain my dilemma and within weeks I received the said amount of the overpayment.
At a time when we are suspect of people in office, I can proudly say that Maria Pappas follows through on her word and investigates the claims.
Thank you for restoring my faith in public office.

I must commend Maria Pappas for recognizing the need to bring her staff into the communities to assist residents with property tax issues. I visited PUSH today seeking answers to my property tax questions. The representative from the Treasurer's Office was patient, knowledgeable, and a major help. It would be a real plus to have members of your staff in the communities year round.

It would be nice if county offices had phone systems that allowed people to talk to human beings without wading through minutes of options that do not allow you to do so. After twenty minutes of trying to get through the system I finally was successful by putting in the wrong information. Then I was prompted to hold while a service person was contacted. No one has the time or appreciates speaking with an automated system that refuses to allow them to ask a simple question that is not covered by FAQ lists. When I finally reached a person it took one minute to get a response.

I agree with the previous reviewer -- this office has an abysmal phone system. Also no one answer phone calls and there's no answer machine. Website has limited information, so it's difficult to get info this way. Please upgrade your phone systems and hire staff who answers phones. On top of it all, you can't even contact the Treasurer's office via email, since the form on the website does not work! We are in the 21st century after all. Please fix.

I have a unique problem with the payment of this year's taxes. I need the counsel of a live person and can't reach anyone. Though I have respect for the efficiency of tape recording answers, once in a while there is a unique problem that requires the attention of a human being. HELP!!
