There is no way to contact them so I will be contacting a lawyer and I will be suing vital records!! It has been 2 months since i ordered my daughter's birth certificate. It says that they will not charge for shipping until the order has been shipped. They charged my debit card 2 weeks ago and never sent the birth certificate. Finally got ahold of some one apparently they canceled a whole batch of birth certificates. They suck.
Lines are particularly long as hell and there's no AC so pack a lunch and bring a fan cause you'll be waiting in line for over 2 hours
If you're arguing a ticket, dont waste your time, they're gonna make you pay it. I had a ticket that I paid...bought the proof...and they told me "well you paid it in the wrong system, you shouldve checked to see if it appeared in both systems. So you still owe." BS.

Very bad experience....the lady at the front window so rude and not helpful i understand that she might be tired or something but for common sense you try to find out a solution for the customer not just answer "I don't know you have to call the number.....definitely not coming back
Adrian helped us get our marriage license. She could not have been more helpful and fun. She made our whole experience absolutely wonderful, probably the best customer serve I have ever had.
From the multiple security guards who directed us and congratulated us (how d they know!) to the wonderfully efficient and kind clerk at the desk, we had an amazing experience getting our wedding license. The pre filled form was easy and the whole thing lasted less than 15 minutes with almost no wait. Thanks Cook County for making one thing on our to-do list that much easier!

Horrible, deplorable system noby pick up a call; or worst have the courtesy to reply a simple email, since june 7/202, I am trying to get a devorce certificate; until today nothing. Clear example of tax payers money wasted. Mediocrity !!

The new policies bear no relationship to common sense. Moreover the frontline clerks who used to be customer oriented are now more interested in looking over their shoulder for their supervisors wrath. After going to top administrators more than once, it clear that only an election will fix it.
Everyone I encountered at the Clerk's office was patient, courteous, knowledgeable and well mannered. I had a good experience here, and I hope I never have to come back again :)
On 2/2/2021 I called and requested 2 copies of my birth certificate to another state. I was not given an option of how I wanted the copies sent, just the cost. When I received the confirmation email, it stated I may not receive the copies until April.
I received the copies within a week but the information on the right margin was not legible - therefore the birth year was not clear. It took 2 days of calls being transferred to several people, & being disconnected a couple of times before finally getting a message to Ms. Yarbrough who in turn had the Deputy Director Mr. Byron Steele contact me. I hope to receive the corrected copies this week.
Line was reasonable on a Monday at 11AM (approx. 20 min). Clerk was friendly and helpful. Guards helped guide the line to make sure everything operated efficiently.
The worst ever, a third world country have better service than them. So I went to get my marriage license took all the required documents with me and they denied my Chicago CityKey ID, and denied my home county birth certificate because it looks different from the one over here. That was an absolute discrimination and a disappointment I had today, took my girl and her parents to get our marriage license, they should not discriminate people from other countries because their documentation looks different than the one over here.

I sent for replacement birth certificate for my husband who no longer lives in Chicago hasn't for over 30 years. We now live in Texas. I have yet to receive it. I called a few weeks ago, I was told that there is at a 10 week turn around. She told me to track the mailing vis their website. I told her I did that and it no information found. She said there is a fine print stating the wit time which there is not. I was trying to track the order again and again it says no information found. I tried calling and there is no answer but the vm came on. I have left messages before to no avail. This service sucks.
Someone gave the wrong info to me before I sent for the record. Time wasted at my client's expense. Claim that attorneys get info and misuse it seems a stretch. I expect better.
i mailed in the application for a certified copy of my birth record in the January 6, 2020. along with $17.00 check , they cashed the check a week ago march 6,2020 still no certified copy . cant get my dl renewed had to get a 60 day extension. while at the dmv in Wisconsin the dmv says try this "vital records Springfield ill, so anouther $17.00 and application and wait.
If you go before 10a For a copy of your birth certificate, you're In and out, QUICK. Bring $20 cash to avoid the card fee. They were friendly and chill.
I had to pick up my daughter's birth certificate recently at the Vital Records Office. I went at about 10:30am on a Monday and the line was modest. The security guard at the front of the line was friendly and asked what I was there for, and then ensured I had the correct paperwork on hand. I was in line for about 5 minutes before I was helped by a clerk, who was courteous and efficient. Overall I spent about 10 minutes in the office. Overall it was an easy and pain-free experience.

The absolute worst. Went early in the morning for my marriage license so I could be in and out . I had filled it out online to make it easier . The women who attended me was so incredibly rude !! Keep in mind it was early so she had only attended one couple before us and when it was our turn she had an attitude spoke to me and my boyfriend in a very rude manner I don t know if it was because we were young :/ a very great way to start out your morning !! It doesn t take a lot of effort to be nice this was new to us and we were scared to ask questions. Please be nice to people :(

I honestly don't know where to begin. Hands down the single worst interaction I've had with any public office anywhere (have lived in multiple countries and States). Toxic culture among the staff. The public are treated as if they are a nuisance who get in the way of the office staff doing their job. Extremely rude. Some basic customer service training would go a long way. The problems here are symptomatic of how the agency is run. Just shocking.
I ordered a copy of my birth certificate July 2020. Still had not heard from it in November 2020 re ordered it through vital check the second time free of extra charges. They said they make sure I receive it in 15 days . at same time my daughter ordered my birth certificate from vital records.com I have not seen or receive anything from either place. Money waisted time waisted. Today is February 2021 and I still can't redo my license or a ID.
Why is it so hard to get ahold of someone at this office when it comes to finding out a court date...

The line was outside and around the corner literally a 2hr wait, but I got what I went for.
I have been waiting several months to get a copy of my birth certificate. I sent off the required information and did weeks later received an onvqlope back withmu payment asking for information that I had already enclosed in my original mailing. I filled out the the form and it has been yet another six weeks.
Waited on the phone for an hour and a half (long distance) to get a copy of my marriage license to get health insurance. They never answered the phone.
Came here for marriage license and then for marriage certificate back in July, few days after the office reopened. Expected huge lines and prepared for the worst - and it turned out to be a positive experience. Staff was polite and helpful, we were taken care of in a good manner. Both times came right when it opens, there were not that many people in from of us. We did fill the application online to save time.
If you bring marriage license after the wedding they will print your certificates right away. This was critical for us due to time constraints. Only later I figured there is a typo in marriage certificate (check right away!) but it's not in either of our names so that is considered a clerical error and does not have to be fixed.

I went to this office at 830 am on a day that they are not open to the public. Everyone entering for work said Good morning and most asked if I needed help. They had me sit on a chair in the lobby area and came to attend to my needs. They took care of what I came for. I am very impressed with the service, how courteous and polite everyone was and their empathy to assist someone on a day when they didn t have to.
