Outstanding service, comfort and location. Panoramic Bay views from our Tower room. The Tonga Bar is well worth a visit although drinks are a little expensive..... sip them slowly and enjoy the atmosphere

The hospitality and attention to detail at The Fairmont is incredibly welcoming. Our family visits each year during the holidays and periodically during the year when we attend events in The City. We are always greeted with smiles, and offered a beautifully appointed guest room. Thank you for being our home away from home in San Francisco.

Quite possibly the worst "5 star" hotel I've ever stayed at. There are some interesting places in terms of their history, and the location is eye-catching. But the rooms are unimpressive, the staff is inconsistent at best and incompetent at worst, and everything is more complicated than it needs to be. I did not enjoy my stay, did not feel taken care of, and would not stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with great service and great views! Our room was very spacious (including a large bathroom) and overlooked the San Francisco Bay. We enjoyed every meal that we ate there, including the breakfast buffet, the afternoon tea and in-room dining. Although everything was expensive, it was worth it. We hope to one day return for another holiday!

Visited the Fairmont for afternoon high tea on mothers day. The service wasn't great and the food was fairly average, but the hotel is really nice inside, and the restaurant was beautiful.

Food was well below average with well above average prices. I think most of the food is dished out of restaurant pans rather than cook to order. Music was great unless you're sitting at a table when it starts and they hit you with a $15 per person cover.

I haven't been here personally but my sister loved it!!! And the Diva that she was :p, I believe her.
It's very clean, unique, friendly staff, convenient few steps away from Marina park, which is great for pups.

Beautiful hotel with nice rooms. We had a corner suite and it was amazing. The views were nice, service was fantastic , and the bed was comfortable. The location is on top of nob hill so be prepared to walk up hill.

Meeting rooms are a maze and require so much time to get from one conference room to another that it's not efficient nor pleasant if you have sessions on different floors. The layout is ancient.

The valet was quite overcrowded when I arrived, I spent a good 10-15 minutes standing around waiting for the attendant to get through the massive amount of cars coming in and passengers trying to catch taxis. It's definitely an older hotel, but I think that's part of what people like about it. It's incredibly ornate and "grand" would be a perfect word to describe the vibe and decor inside. It has a handful of shops you can browse - I was never here during the daytime to be able to go inside of them. The staff are very attentive and have a system where they send SMS messages to your phone to check in on you. The bathrooms have Le Labo toiletries (quite a high end brand).

I think the walls are quite thin, because I could frequently hear screaming children in the hallways outside my door. At night, it was incredibly loud when a neighboring room would use their shower (kept me up quite a bit). Overall, it was a very luxurious experience but it wasn't super close to any other local shops and was situated on top of a massive hill.

The garage to get to valet is quite a trek, you go down to the bottom floor and then walk down a ramp inside the garage, to find the attendant at the end of the pathway. I think Fairmont hotels are the only ones I've been in where the valet drop off area is different than the pick up. There's always more than one valet attendant present so it never takes more than a few minutes for them to retrieve your car. Overall, the service is good but the location isn't ideal if you're looking to walk everywhere.

My brother, his family and I atayed here for a couple of nights as a treat after a few weeks on a driving holiday across a few states. We were all looking forward to a plush hotel experience to round out our vacation and unfortunately came up a little short.

Given the price we paid, we were disappointed.

The staff at the concierge and bell desks were awesome. It was he check-in experience and subsequent issues that were really sub par. I felt sold to. No free WiFi unless you sign up to Accor hotel program OR pay a "Destination Fee". The check-in staff's explanation of no free WiFi and the "Destination Fee" just didn't make sense despite my numerous questions. I got out of paying the "Destination Fee" and ended up signing up to Accor just to get the free WiFi.

The free WiFi, by the way, didn't work first time round as Accor's text with the bitly URL to complete my enrollment didn't work.... I had to call reception from my room to help with that.... Which I couldn't do as the phone in my room didn't work... So they sent an engineer up to do that after I used my mobile to call the hotel's reservation line

I was, however, please to see the hotel has Google Chromecast available. BUT, that didn't work for me either despite calling the Streaming.tv helpline. They were unable to help. I got it to work myself after a few attempts.

My brother and his family had their own struggles. They had to call reception 5 times to get a crib delivered to their room for my little niece. As compensation for the wait, the hotel offered an in-house movie at no charge to keep my two nieces entertained. That was nice.

But, to really round out their stay, upon checkout, my brother saw that the hotel had charged him $USD20 for the "complementary" movie AND the aforementioned "Destination Fee" (the fee in my brother's case was not explained at his check-in unlike my check-in experience). He didn't pay either of these charges.

On the upside, Steve at concierge organised a rose to be sent to my brother's room for his wife as it was her birthday. She loved it! The rooms are very comfortable and really well appointes. The LeLabo products in the room are awesome. The robes are really plush too.

My advice: when you check-in, make sure you are not jetlagged/hungover. Make sure you are really clear about what you're paying and ask questions. Be prepared to sign up to Accor to get WiFi (which is nuts when I stayed in roadside motels in Oregon that had free WiFi)

William at the bell desk and Steve at concierge are legends. Love those guys.

The Fairmont is an amazing hotel. But around the holiday's it's a great date spot. My wife and I swing by every year to have a glass of champagne and take a look at the massive 35 foot gingerbread house.

Update: stayed the night at the hotel. Super nice staff and accommodating of our pup.

It has a very nice lobby decorated for the holidays. This includes a giant centerpiece Christmas tree, and a walk-in gingerbread house. There are a bunch of visitors in the lobby and it is a great place to take pictures.

Historic, beautiful, difficult location but parking in structures. Public transit, taxi, Uber easiest. Photo ops. Elegant for a nice night out. Great views depending on room location. Nice restaurants.
