Absolutely phenomenal food and service! I took my mother here as a celebration for finishing her cancer treatment. The staff were friendly and helped make this an unforgettable experience.
One of the best meals I've ever had. NOLA truly has the best food in the nation.
Great personable service. Amazing food. A true New Orleans staple and tradition.
Phenomenal restaurant. Food was amazing. Service impeccable. Go here if you're in NOLA. You won't regret it!
Everything was fantastic: food, service, and atmosphere
Always among best however wouldn't let me wear hat inside restaurant turtle soup the best strict dress code so 4 stars order quail world class service gm. Is so nice! Have quail and turtle soup. Then. Go across street take a tour of Lafayette! 1 cemetary!
Really nice place to celebrate birthday. They had dress code, but I saw people wearing jeans and denim jacket. Pork belly is really good.
Yum! When experience, soup to nuts, was amazing! Do yourself a favor - GO!
Staff refused to acknowledge birthday celebration and service was slower than an asthmatic snail, thanks for nothing Britt.
Wonderful again. It was our second time there and the service and food was excellent.
Fantastic experience at Commanders Palace for lunch. 25 cent martinis can't be beat! Super menu with lots of dishes to choose from. Comprehensive wine and cocktail menu . A dining must when in NOLA!
it is a massive, well-oiled machine that still manages to deliver an intimate and spectacular dining experience. the service was fantastic from the moment you walk through the door. the ambiance is second to none; a wonderful place for a special occasion. the food was delicious but not memorable. the shrimp & tasso henican appetizer is a must but the main courses and dessert were nothing special.
Great dining experience for my first trip to NOLA. Loved the $ .25 margaritas!
a wonderful place, with wonderful staff, and wonderful food. Top notch!
Wonderful food! Great place to celebrate a birthday dinner. The only downside was constantly being ignored by the beverage waitress. She would attend to the tables all around us, but hardly ever come to our table of 4. When we were able to get her attention, sometimes she forgot to bring our drinks. There were a lot of other celebrations going on that night, & the wine server did come over & apologize. We did get free coffees. I still felt like we didn't get the attention as the other tables.
Amazing brunch, very classy. Had a great time. Thank you.
The food is stuff of legend for good reason. Go crazy and try the tasting menu. They don't miss a beat and the staff is delightful.
Visited NOLA for my bestfriend s bday. They tried to put us at the back of the room even thought there were other seats available with a nice view this is 915pm... so I asked if we could move by the glass window in the garden s room and it was accommodated. They put some balloons on our table and got free shots for my bestie and I. The staffs were very nice unlike Muriel s down in the French Quarter. The food was great as well! Can t wait to go back next time and book the chef s table ahead of time.
Great food, excellent service. Good environment, definitely a must do while in New Orleans.
One of the greats. Food and service at a very high level. New Orleans classics with refinement.
Well, what can you really add. We were treated very well on a last-minute, first-time lunch. (I found the salad a bit salty, but you might not.)
What an amazing place. Absolutely awesome food, drinks and dessert. Would highly recommend if in town!!!
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Have been going every 1-2 years since 1970s. Crazy good food, service and atmosphere.
Service was horrible! It was 90min before we received our food. Quality of food was average, portions were small, NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Way overpriced!
Excellent staff. Everyone greets you. All menu selections are of the highest quality. Desserts are to die for. Each table has three specialists and a supervisor serving you. They have a walkway through the kitchen so you can see the action
Pro: excellent food!
Con: slightly out of the way
Excellent lunch, great service, had the quail and duck cassoulet
Impeccable as usual. Service and food both divine. Can t wait til it s time to go again!
Absolutely the best! Felt like royalty. Incredible service, food, ambiance. AND 25 cent martini over the.top!
It was my birthday and what a treat Commander's Palace was!! Excellent service too!!
Wonderful dining experience. The service is impeccable. Everyone s dishes all served at once with my large party of 13. Recommend coming here for an classic
French creole restaurant with tons of history of NOLA s food scene.
Used to be great but has outlived its relevance. Uninspired cuisine served in out of touch environment.
At the court ella brennan you can live a marvelous culinary experience through delicious sea food and exquisite dessert, accompanied by careful personnel and a typical location.
One of the best restaurants I've been to. Excellent historic atmosphere and superb food
Staff is always amazingly attentive. The food is delicious and there are .25 martinis!
Excellent Shared lunch for two. Amazing service, gorgeous history and architecture. The fried duck is to die for. Price was very reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. Thank you very much!!! Dying to come back when I'm in NOLA
Wine Room Dinner
Friday November 15, 2019
While Commanders is a high end restaurant of the utmost caliber ... the wine tasting left me actually hungry
The Wine Room...the space is lovely and tucked in the back and is a working wine room. That was Uber cool. Bring a sweater...it is clearly cold.
The Staff....Zach K and Zach are total pros. Some of the best staff that I have experienced since Tokyo this summer. Absolutely great.
The Wine....great choices. And all good except the Madeira (which was a gift from a patron)
The food....beyond tiny and underwhelming. Actually a complete let down. It paired well...but it was beyond tiny. I spent $550 and was genuinely hungry when I left. When I arrived home I ate some homemade chicken paprika. A table of 12 received only 2 loaves or bread all night. I would have eaten a Clif bar if I had one in my pocket.
The valet.....awesome
Overall...average to below average wine tasting at best. Clearly a tourist restaurant and know that
If you must....skip any wine tasting and go to the main dining room and order wine and stick with the traditional menu items....turtle soup and redfish.
I expected more from this NOLA Institution
Of course one expects perfection from one of the most famous restaurants in a city full of great restaurants. The surprise really is that they actually deliver on that expectation. Food is incredible, service is outstanding, and the entire experience is well worth the expense (which, In truth, wasn't that bad)!
Everything about CP was amazing from the moment we walked through the door. The food was amazing and service is top notch. Wife and I went for our anniversary. Even the owner who happened to be dinning there as well made his way over to wish us a happy anniversary. Hands down the best! We are definitely going back.
Snootiest place! If you are not dressed to the nines, don't go. Started to feel uncomfortable the minute the maitre'd looked down his nose at us from atop his podium. The turtle soup was delicious, but otherwise, food was not that exceptional.
Pricey at first glance, but we ordered entrees that came with a starter and dessert, so actually not unreasonable considering the fabulous dining experience you get there. The food and the love music were really good!
One of the wonderful things about this town is the food and there are many places that are on tourists' bucket lists. We like to ask the natives where they like to go for a really good meal. While shopping at Vintage 329 on Royal St. we asked Melissa who suggested this restaurant for a great steak.
Cannot miss place in New Orleans. Great good and service at premium prices. Get the bloody Mary. Go a little early and walk the cemetery across the street.
We are from Atlanta and this is by far the best food we have ever had . Miles was our server and he was so knowledgeable and fun . We truly enjoyed this experience . Best experience we have had in a very long time. Thank you miles for making this experience so great! Will be back soon!!
Food was amazing! We went for lunch and had a great meal! The duck was perfectly cooked.
Love it, was just a great meal. Texas quail is right at "Commander's Palace"!!!
The ambience is nice and neat. The food is average and a bit pricy. But this seems to be the place for some locals to see and be seen
The place lives up to the hype. The food was impeccable. Our service was not great when we first arrived, we spoke up and then had a crew waiting on us. I know other tables had that type of service from the beginning. That was really the only downside was the service blip. We called the night before to check for lunch cancellations, and were lucky enough to get one. The lunch specials, drink and food, are awesome. Definitely had a experience for lunch. Also prior to lunch, went and walked Lafayette Cemetery across the street- was great. Then took the St. Charles Street car back. Definitely made for a wonderful, classic NOLA experience.
I go to the Commander's Palace every time I am in New Orleans!
Brunch... Do it.... It is a food explosion in your mouth. The cheesecake is the best cheesecake you will ever have.
We had the culinary special for lunch. 1st course was the pasta then came the stake which was rare, we were not asked how we wanted the stake we would have preferred well done. The .25 martinis were awesome! We had all 3 the only thing is that they recommended to have it with ice so it came in a regular water cup. We had the pudding not impressed with it! We also had the bananas foster, presentation was good but the bananas were not good quality for my taste. Overall it was a nice experience!
Suit up! This is a high end place and it runs like a well oiled machine. Great menu and the tutlre soup is really nice and the martini lunch special Is worth the trip. Make a booking and get fancy.
Good food, only limited by most dishes having seasonings that I don't care for. I ended up with a steak, which was great, but I found boring; it was also too large of a cut for me. I had praline parfait for dessert, which was not as flavorful as expected. The turtle soup, however, was to die for!
I love to go here for lunch plus their .25 cents martinis!
I m pretty stingy with a 5 star review but this place knows how to treat the customers. We went for brunch on a Wednesday. They walked us into a beautiful garden to sit and wait for a table. The setting was exquisite. They walk you through the kitchen which is a kitsch but it still makes one feel like they re getting special treatment. My wife s salad was over dressed but everything else was delicious! Strawberry shortcake was great as well. And how can one complain about a $0.25 martini or cosmo?! Only at lunch, I believe. Enjoy!
This place has a long standing reputation for its amazing food and its quality of service... Every single expectation was exceeded.
We hadn't been there before and were debating what to try, so to save ourselves some headache we went with the tasting menu along with it's wine pairing upgrade and the 1-1-1 Soup Trio.
The soups were unbelievable. It was the crawfish season so the shrimp bisque was replaced by a crawfish bisque. There are no words that could accurately describe how delicious it was. Hands down the best bisque I've had in my life.
Every single one of our 6 courses was cooked expertly and their respective wine pairings were matches made in heaven. The flavors of each dish were just perfect. Their food took many risks when combining flavors and every single one paid off. Their use of heat and acidity were front and center and they gave each dish a life of their own.
If you go here and try ONE thing, let it be the boudin stuffed quail. This was definitely the highlight of the evening.
All of the staff was exceedingly pleasant and attentive without being obtrusive. Our server knew the menu back and forth and expertly answered every single question we asked about the dishes we were having.
I am truly searching for some constructive criticism, but I can't think of a single thing that was out of place. Truly a MUST VISIT place in New Orleans!
Loved the food and ambiance. Bread pudding souffle? Yes, please.
It was good but came years ago and it was much better
Quality of service has changed throughout the years for the worst. Food was delicious but service poor
Great food and fantastic service. Seafood gumbo, black drum, and a decadent chocolate dessert, all accompanied by some craft cocktails. We will be back!
Outstanding food and experience! This jazzy brunch joint has a great atmosphere that the entire family can enjoy.
This restaurant has a wonderful reputation and from our experience, it is well deserved! I had Turtle Soup and Satsuma Duck. My daughter had Jambalaya and White Shrimp with grits. Everything was excellent and the service was impeccable. We both had their Bread Pudding Souffle dessert - delicious!
Really outstanding food and experience! The real deal!
This is not a restaurant it's an experience must go place to eat.you will not be disappointed.
One of the best meals I've had served in a classic New Orleans atmosphere.
The most incredible dinner i had in a while.
The wine selection was incredible
The food from the soup and salad to the filet to the desert was incredible. By far the best turtle soup and suffle I ve ever had.
The restaurant had a very sophisticated magical romantic atmosphere
All the staff was very nice especially our waiter Miles and his assistant Mckensei.
This dinner was worth every penny. Definitely will be back again
It's so appetizing. Nothing but enjoyable experiences here.
Try the turtle soup. Unparalleled service and quality of food. Thank you for the experience!
Commander's Place is a real 5 Star plus. We were a bit early, but they welcomed us in. Our host were great people with excellent customer service. Our food was great, and the visit of the manager to our table put a smile on the face of my daughter. So, I will recommend this great place to any anyone who visits New Orleans. Overall New Orlean is a good to see things you never saw in your Stat.
The turtle soup is amazing and double cut pork chop was so yummy.
The food was excellent the service was impeccable I would highly recommend it
I truly like the brunch, yes it is everything you would hope and is of traditional New Orleans. I proposed to me third wife there. The serves was great and management made it very special. Please do yourself a favor and go especially for brunch for the jazz is great.
Top 3 place on our list on our next NOLA visit. Made my birthday extra special.
Service , food, excellent. Get Gabe to wait on you. PERFECT NIGHT.
I am never lost for words, but I am this time ! Exceeded all expectations! They went above, and beyond, service is divine, heavenly, serene clean atmosphere, deserves a MILLION STARS on service and professionalism. Everyone is just warm, welcoming, kind, attentive, detailed, this was just heaven to me! My family and I are grateful, and beyond estatic to return. OMG PRESTIGES SERVICE
We were treated like royalty. The serving staff, the food, the ambience were amazing!!!!
The food left much to be desired in 2020. Previously, in 2008, the food, atmosphere and service were all incredible. It is currently very disappointing. We were celebrating an important occasion and were treated with poor service (we didn t get all of our appetizers and paid/left before dessert was served). For this poor service and food, our party paid a premium. We will never return, nor will we recommend. It is sad that a staple of New Orleans has become a shadow of its past. There are so many amazing restaurants in New Orleans. Please do yourself a favor and select something other than Commander s Palace. It breaks my heart to write this review.
UPDATE 12/20: Like I said we dined there yearly for special occasions, yet in 2020 due to Covid we chose not to. NO problem however because of LE PETITE BLEU, their Commander's to go online service. Ordering was simple and the service and courtesy every bit of the 5 star one has come to expect of them. Janet was even kind enough to call me back the next day to offer a menu item they were previously out of. Top notch.
We've dined here for a special occasion every year, ever since Katrina took away our traditional destination.
What can I say.
Excellence, top to bottom: atmosphere, service, staff, food... they treat every guest like royalty.
Lots of staff that were very nice but we must have had the one grumpy server...GABRIEL... he was not only rude to us and condescending but rude to other servers in front of us. He treated us different as soon as we said we were not drinking. ASH the other server that took care of us was so sweet. The owner came over and introduced herself which I thought was a big deal. The filet was great but fish was dry.
